  1. We hired the inspector, not the seller. He did catch other issues like I mentioned. It's well known that a home inspector will never catch every issue. I lived here 1.5 years before figuring this out. It's a 32 year old house so if this is my worst problem I'll take it. I'll get it fixed and move on. I'm going to get a few estimates from Heat and Air companies before ripping out the ceiling. They may have a solution.

  2. I sorely miss several of the few things I have sold. Once I finally got into a financial position where I didn’t really need to sell anything, I pretty much stopped. I can also say the older I get, the less I buy. I guess I have pretty much everything I ever wanted.

  3. I want to thank @Overseas Living for my latest purchase. I think this is quite a beautiful rifle and while I will shoot it some, I also plan to keep it and enjoy it for its timelessness. 1925 Winchester Model 94 Saddle Ring Carbine chambered in .32 WS. Quite a beautiful rifle.

  6. Inspectors look, they don't take anything apart, if he can't see it he can't report it. Solve your problem and get on with life. No point in barking up a dead tree.

  8. I would personally rip out enough of my basement ceiling to do it right which means venting to the outside. Drywall is easy to repair. It may not look like any mold, etc, but you really don't know until you can see better. Best case, there is nothing. Worst case, you can spray it while the ceiling is open and know it is good for long term.

  10. I agree I have a problem, and admitting the problem is the first step to recovery. I have purchased 3 lever action rifles in a week. I think that is a new record on gun purchases for me. the SRC is what I have really been wanting. The other two I think were just getting ready. LOL. But I really like them and they will be shooters. This one will get shot some, cleaned and stored. Them taken out, fondled, and put back again. , I really like how the Ted Williams turned out with the scope.

  11. There's a 90% chance I could run that vent without doing any damage, assuming there is no obstruction such as blocking or other ductwork in that framing channel. Otherwise I'd have to cut a couple of holes in the ceiling. Cut to patch, IOWs cut clean and square, make it easy on yourself. But then, this is what I do for a living. Yes, vent to the exterior.

  13. SOLD Up for sale here is a Recover Tactical 20/21MG kit. This is t(e full kit with everything that they offer for these. It includes the stabilizer frame, brace with strap, UCH & GCH charging handles, minimalist sling, side picatinny rails, G7 holster, & MG45 Angled Mag pouch. Also included is the upper rail kit for optic mounting on top. Parts of this kit has been installed, but never fired while mounted on the gun. It’s a cool setup, but not something I think I would use a lot. On Recover Tactical’s website this package would cost $205. I’m asking $100. Here’s a link to the website, this one is the 20/21MG: https://www.recovertactical.com/product/recover-tactical-20-21-stabilizer-kit-for-10mm-45acp-large-frame-glocks/

  15. Here is a Franchi Renaissance. I am the second owner, the original owner stated they didn't shoot it, I did have to clean off the packing grease from it when I purchased it from them and it did indeed look unfired. I have shot 1 round of sporting clays with them putting the round count at about 100. It comes with everything in the photos. It is everything that was with it when I took possession. Price is firm, cash. Trades would be for O/U shotguns in 12G.

  18. But on the serious side, I agree with @OMCHamlin . I have definitely bought and sold many a gun. But many that I have sold were bought on a whim. There are definitely ones I will never let go. The newest purchase being one of those. I will reveal it soon.

  19. So I promised more lever news. I picked up the Canadian Centennial from @klf493 that @221 Fireball had for sale last year. I haven’t shot it yet but I like the weight of the octagonal barrel. Some may think the commemorative editions are ugly (you know who you are) but I think it’s a pretty cool rifle A little more lever news to follow soon……

  22. For anyone interested. Andrew Branca will be evaluating this incident with Attorney Steve Gosney today at 3pm CST on YouTube. From the email promoting this event, "...Although the initial shots fired by the shooter appear to be legally justified as defense of self, defense of others, and (uniquely under Texas law) perhaps even defense of property, the last shot fired looks more difficult to justify. At the moment that ninth shot was fired the robber was apparently unconscious on the floor and had been disarmed of the only weapon he was known to possess, when the shooter fired one last shot, apparently into the robber's head."

  23. Correct. The wall with that window in my picture is probably the same distance and I would have to drill through brick on that side. No kidding. The previous owners had the siding replaced in 2015. I'm guessing that is when the existing vent was "misplaced".

  24. I would recommend metal duct not flex due to the long distance. You may need to add a booster fan to vent that far.

  25. Couple of questions. The American Defense QD Mount appears to be what they classify as their Co-Witness version that has a center-line to top of rail height of 1.52". Is this accurate? Do you still have the original mount that came with the Aimpoint PRO as well? Thank you for the listing.

  26. During the rush to buy homes in the past three years, it was a seller's market. Homes were snapped up without the buyer performing a thorough home inspection from a qualified and certified inspector that they hired. Too often they relied on the seller's promise that everything was fine and their home inspector (not certified) had given it high marks. Now, two years later, some people are experiencing the fallout. The biggest investment in people's lives, but they won't spring for a certified home inspector to give the house a complete top to bottom looksie. So it costs $1000-1500? So what? Try fixing a bad problem like electrical, plumbing, mold, sewer, wood rot, etc for $1500. Spend the money to save your money.

  27. I recently purchased a Max 9 and have liked it. I carry it on Sunday and Wednesday night to church. I normally pocket carry a Taurus 2" Mdl 617 7 shot loaded w/357 Cor Bod DPX. The Max 9 does not print as bad and for sure when wearing black slacks. I would like to carry it with the 12-round mag, but the grip is too long for pocket carry. Does fine with the 10-round mag. Carry both in Nemesis pocket holster.

  31. I'd be taking a close look at that home inspector. He failed you miserably. He took the money and didn't give you what you were entitled to receive. Call him. Tell him what you've discovered and you're wondering why that wasn't disclosed to you. Then shut-up. Don't say anything else. Just let him reply. Record the conversation. If he doesn't give you satisfaction, contact a lawyer. This is serious on so many levels. This is negligence. But only state what you've found and ask him what he intends to do. No more. Let him do the talking and squirming.

If anyone needs to get in touch with me about his wake, or would like to post any nice memories with my father I’d appreciate it. Reading all these comments about my Papa has made my morning. He always talked about his friends on his gun forums. He taught me to shoot when I was a kid. Thank you all for being a part of my Papa’s life and loving him as I did. 6157854190 is my number for anyone who would like to be invited to his wake. It will be this Sunday in Nashville, TN. the attached photo below is my sister mother papa and 2 years ago. Please enjoy this picture of him.

  37. I am trying the pistol optic thing again. This one is the new HoloSun SCS (solar charging site). It does not have a replaceable battery so it can be a bit smaller. This model is customized to the frame of the gun so it sits lower. From my first trip to the range, this one is MUCH easier for me to find the dot faster. I do not spend any time "searching for the dot" so far.

  41. Hi Whisper, I'm a new transplant from Southern California - our family of five came to Chattanooga without knowing a soul here. I fought the good fight on the Left Coast, served in elected office as the President of a local Board of Education, own and operate a successful but heavily oppressed gun shop, and was a guest speaker in local churches. Once we realized our home state was truly unsalvageable, I began a nationwide search for the ideal place to settle for my future generations, with an eye towards a 3-5 year plan. That 3 year plan became a 3 month plan, as our home value skyrocketed and I realized that *now* was the time, as my three kids are all still at home with us, but in 3-5 years we might have one married or otherwise tied to the area. Having the whole family mobile at a time when our home had gained $1M in equity was the right timing, as uncomfortable as it was to move on short notice. I'm a very studious person - I love detailed research and data-driven decisions backing up prayerful consideration. In looking at the whole of the nation - every state, every region - Chattanooga rose to the undisputed top of the list. Tennessee for obvious reasons, but Chattanooga offers the very best of the Volunteer State's advantages, for our tastes and desires, with any drawbacks minimized. I founded my firearms business in CA 8 years ago. After a layoff from the building materials industry when things slowed in 2012, I returned to my military roots and began gunsmithing (I got my GS Cert at SDI after I left the service) out of my home. What was intended to be a side job while I found my next career ended up being so successful, I *had* to open a brick and mortar. It has been a wonderful ride. My shop remains open in CA, but I am removed from daily operations. My staff handles everything including the local gunsmithing operations under the man who apprenticed under me. I am here now in Harrison Bay and I'd be happy to take a look at anything you need done. I don't have a lathe here like at the shop, so my barrel and round rod machine work is limited, but I have all my skill and a second set of most of my specialty tools. In any case, gunsmithing or not, I sure would like to meet like-minded people who are also looking for a new network of local friends. - David

  42. I think I've shared it before, but this was my grandfather's duty gun when he was a police officer back in the 60's. Smith & Wesson Model 19. He left it to my dad and I inherited it when my dad passed away. This is one of those guns that my kids will inherit one day, and hopefully their kids as well.
