  2. If I tickle my grandson while asking him to be still, he will not comply with my verbal commands no matter how many times I demand him to do so. So, how on God's green Earth could anyone expect a grown man to put his hands behind his back while he's being punched and kicked. EVERYONE will involuntarily guard their torso/face instead of exposing themselves to further pain. Saying Tyre Nichols would still be alive if he hadn't resisted isn't accurate in this case anyway, these cops intended to beat his @$$ from the beginning.

  4. So, I had this surplus German 7.62 ammo for years now, leftovers from when I had a FAL and a PTR. But after debating about another ptr or going the AR 10 route, I can firmly say I regret going the ar10 route. Man, this thing weights a ton. Shoots well though. Now I just need to find a good optic for it. BCA BC 10. 18in barrel. I replaced the trigger, grip and stock day one (why? Because I wanted to). I will probably replace the stock again.

  7. Why am I reminded of this quote from Atlas Shrugged: Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.

  8. I quit 25 minutes in when he made blatant misrepresentations regarding what has been said by the police department and prosecutors regarding the reason for the arrest. There is a vast chasm between “we just don’t know why he was pulled over“ and “the officers’ reports claimed it was reckless driving, but we can find no evidence to support that.“ Especially when it is already known that many facts within the reports were falsified. I have actually purchased and read his book and do enjoy his insights when he is on other peoples shows. He does not prove to be very watchable when it is his show to run. Fun fact, he was banned from here during the Zimmerman trial for his huckster routine. He thought he was special and exempt from the hard line rules around here regarding professional advertisement. All of that to say, would it be possible for you to provide a BLUF summary of his main thesis on why he maintains the officers are not legally incorrect?

  9. I used to be a big fan of cops. Donated money when they called. Not any more. My experience with them was bad. I had a detective that was determined to ruin my life because I had and attorney and refused to talk to her without him there. Good thing for me my reputation was to much to over come for her. I have a real problem with them being allowed to lie to the very people they are supposed to work for. More and more vids are coming out about how they treat people, bully many and lie almost all the time. I think they are counting on people not knowing the laws or their rights and just assume what they say is true. I believe there needs to be reform in a way that holds people with that much power accountable. These guys getting fired and charged with murder is a good start but a long way to go.

  11. Made a couple of big (for me) gun purchases lately so figure I'll throw this one out here to see if anyone wants it more than I would like to keep it. Beretta 92 Volunteer edition. I bought this gun new and it is unfired since I had it. (I assume they still factory test fire them) It has been on a display stand in my living room, handled and the slide racked maybe a dozen times since I've had it. Beautiful gun with the special grips and engraving. Plenty of info on them via the Google so won't go into the specs or details. There is a minor imperfection near the takedown lever. Tried to get a picture of it the best I could. Not sure what it is but was there from the factory. (4th picture) Feel free to PM me with any questions. $1,000 takes her home. SPM on 2/4

  14. He had a composite of two body cam feeds and the eye in the sky. At times he brought up a full screen or even zoomed in view of the eye in the sky pole mounted camera to review a specific strike. I believe they were videos 2, 3, and 4 as released by MPD. He did not show video one which was the initial stop and taser use by the first officer. In a strict legal interpretation he is probably not wrong. That will mean just about nothing when it goes to court though when additional evidence is made available and the lawyers on both sides get to spinning the facts.

  15. BLUF (as I interpreted his analysis) is that LEO have the privilege of use of force in conducting a legal arrest. The legal use of force level allowed is determined by the actions of the person being arrested and the crimes for which they are being arrested. In other words non lethal force is justified and warranted to affect an arrest if that person is resisting (not submitting to be handcuffed). Non lethal force does include the use of OC, the use of strikes with the hand and feet to non vital areas such as the arms, legs or torso in an effort to gain control of the individual, the use of tasers, and even the use of batons to non critical areas like arms and legs. Lethal force is only warranted/justified if there is a direct threat to the life and safety of the officers or civilians/bystanders. He made a clear legal distinction that lethal force is not force that results in the death of the individual but force that could reasonably be considered to cause grave bodily harm or death. Striking a person in the head with a baton is lethal force while striking a person in the leg or arm with a baton is not, if it is done in the course of a legal arrest. He also made sure to point out numerous times that the 5 individual officers are all to be considered on their own individual actions. One or more officer may have misused lethal force while one or more officers may have been using justified non lethal force and are not responsible for the lethal force actions of a fellow officer. In this case he claims that one officer may be in very real jeopardy on the murder charge due to his kicks to the head. The other significant strikes that were conducted by other officers are not clear enough to be determined as lethal or non lethal. For example the baton swings while visible are masked to the camera by another officer. Where they land is not clearly visible and it appeared the him that they were aimed or angled toward the arm. Same goes for other kicks made later by officers that arrived later. Where he was kicked later is not clearly visible while those first two kicks were unobstructed and clearly landed on the head. He is making a very direct legal analysis with the 3 source videos he reviewed. He does clearly state that if other angles or views not available at this time shows evidence of where those baton strikes or kicks landed his analysis would have to change.

  16. I made it through the video analysis but man that guy is a Huckster. Nearly an hour to get to the actual video clip analysis and then he stops, pauses, switches around, or talks over the clips. After all that he ends it with a paid question and answer session and additional huckster work for his classes and memberships. Tough to get through that nearly 2 hour exercise.

  20. I know there's a number of car-guys here so I'll let this soak for a week before moving on to ebay. 4 sets of NOS German made MB Quart car audio. These were difficult to find years ago and nearly impossible to find now. My guess is these would be on par with current Focal pairs in the $700 range. Current offering of MB Quart are NOT German made, Chinesium and in name only, junk and not comparable. German MB Quart went out of business in 2004. I bought these years ago for a truck project, they truck is gone and I have no plans for any future projects. I paid $350 each years ago, looking for $1400 shipped trade equivalent. Looking for pistols or revolvers. Any trade offers welcomed. I'll ship in my dime, consider that my shipping cost will exceed $80. These are high grade component sets, complete with instructions and hardware, crossovers and tweeters. These sets have been stored in cool and dry storage and are in pristine condition. Crossposted.

  22. Tom offered this class at Royal Range this past weekend. 3 days / 8 hours of instruction per day My mentor, friend and erstwhile weekend employer, Randy Harris @Cruel Hand Luke of Harris Combative Strategies attended. I am very proud of him for walking the talk through investing in himself, scoring 100/100 on the range and written testing and earning Top Gun accolades. I discovered Tom has a Casino Drill for shotgun; 1st place ran it in 13.77 seconds with a Beretta 1301 equipped with. Holosun optic. Randy churned it out in 14.75 using and old timey pump action. I do not know what the course of fire is, but according to Tom, sub 15 seconds is not in realm of normal human beings. Congratulations!!! (Hopefully you took good notes for takeaways to share with our organization and students)

  24. Yes indeed rumors do abound. I heard one that says at least two of those cops are members of the Vice Lords and it was the gang that ordered the beating. Don't believe anything until it can be proven in court.

  25. Forgot to add that his analysis was that Tyre Nichols was not subdued and was not "arrested" until he was handcuffed. His failure to submit and be handcuffed was continued resistance and non lethal force was justified up until he was finally handcuffed. He also stated that no strikes or force was used after he was handcuffed and pointed out that as soon as he was handcuffed all officers stood up and relaxed their posture leaving Nichols on the ground.

  28. This may or may not be true, but one of the tales on the Tennessee Beretta floating around back then is this. Supposedly a shipment of pistols destined to become Wilson Combat specials were turned down by WC. I don't know why. When they were returned to Beretta, rather than destroy them and take a loss on the order; the big-wigs decided to do a bit of work and the slides and sell them to the public. I heard this story several times, as I said, have no verification on it. Sounds good anyway.

  29. If your seen as not backing your employees, you’ll have a rough time replacing them. Remember Vanderbilt throwing that nurse under the bus a year or so back? They’ve been severely understaffed since. Nobody wants to work for someone that doesn’t have their back.

I do not condone the actions of the police but if he would've complied he'd be alive.... and I watched majority of the footage. Good thing there weren't any white police involved or there'd be cities burning all over America

  31. I took my bike to Windrock today. First time there. What a blast! This little bike was really impressive. I was able to ride 22 miles and had 37% battery left when I finished. On the way down the mountain I saw the regen function work for the first time. While coasting it actually recharged the battery a little bit. My rookie move was underestimating how muddy I would get. I should not have worn my good coat. I tried to avoid the mud puddles for a while but eventually stopped being a sissy and just tore through them. I just wish I had someone to ride with.

  32. I’ve been spending time on social media telling both left and right wingers to sit the eff down regarding the handling of this. The lack of mass rioting we’ve seen is partially due to the handling of the administration in calling things out for what they are and being honest with the public. I would also attribute a significant amount of the reason for peace to the people of this city who are legitimately seeking for a better home. For all the crap going on, there are many more good folks than bad there no matter what the rest of the state believes.

  33. The same laws that apply to justifiable self defense would apply here. It just widens the categories that would make such a claim legitimate. Arson is a justifiable self defense claim; so is a claim of justifiable SD when someone is throwing Molotov cocktails into buildings where it's reasonable to expect people to be. Those instances are already covered under existing laws, I liken it to the days in the West when a thief that stole your horse was tried, and if convicted, could be hanged. Why? Stealing someone's horse could be considered tantamount to leaving them stranded thereby committing a grave bodily injury or death offense. Horse thieves knew that stealing horse could result in a capital offense. They had been warned. As always, it would be up to the shooter to be able to meet the criteria of a justified self defense claim. And there's the rub. Few people including gun owners know the criteria.

  34. Such a law would come in handy as the riots soon begin. Remember the Roof Koreans in LA in 1992? It's worth while to see how and why civilians can be effective when the police fail miserably and deliberately to stop anarchy. Roof Koreans in 1992

  37. Re: the Scorpion units, it’s my understanding that they staff these primarily with young hard charger types. This can be a recipe for exactly this type of disaster without the proper guidance and supervision of experienced officers seasoned with age as well as time in uniform. Only one officer involved here had 5 years on the force and a high, adrenaline, high threat unit like this only amplifies the need for experienced and levelheaded personnel.

  39. My thoughts about HEV versus BEV are a lot more nuanced than just thinking about energy production. The “greenness” of BEV‘s has been vastly overstated with the carbon and pollution footprint of battery production having been greatly obfuscated from the general public by the nature of their production in other parts of the world. There is also the very real and pressing matter of resource security for the elements required to produce the batteries like the lithium and cobalt. Elements that we do actually possess reserves of in conus, but will not mine because of the massive ecological impact involved in doing so. That’s not even to get into more practical street level concerns like emergency energy, delivery or household charging. in addition, while the breakthroughs in fusion energy production are exciting and very promising, the reality is that nuclear power has been safe to the point of being essentially harmless for over half a century. The lies and fear-mongering of Greenpeace and the anti-nuclear lobby regarding nuclear power were well sold to the public by people with vested interests in preserving the fossil fuel industry.

  40. I doubt we’re even that close! The volume of vehicles they want fully electric can’t be supported by our electricity grids. Look at California asking/demanding folks not charge their electric vehicles during peak periods, and the rolling blackouts we had last month. And they don’t seem to be upgrading the grid, at least not as fast as we are growing our needs. We just need to start immediately producing and refining our own oil. I remember a comment by Bill Clinton when he was president and asked why don’t we build more refineries in the u.s to hs,p with the cost of gas. His response was it would take 10 years. Dumbass.
