  1. What is a patriotic American I wonder?   In this day and age there seems to be all kinds of Americans, liberal, conservative, left, right, Democrat, Republican, Independent, etc. What is a true American I'm wondering?   Does a true American believe in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and future of this great nation and their prodigy, or want to change it for a utopian world and society? Give up our individual sovereign national freedoms and way of life for a one world global bow to the crown existence? Is that American?   Is it American to work your tail off to provide for you and your family, and by force of law, take what you earn in taxes and squander it for generational welfare or to foreign countries, both of which diminishes your ability to provide for your family?   Does a patriotic American or government strive to remove the Pledge of Allegiance from all schools and public gatherings? Remove all vestiges of reverence to God in the class room and public gatherings? Strive to remove all semblance of Christmas displays public and private unless all inclusive? Is that the America your forefathers would be proud of and got killed and maimed fighting for? Are we growing to big for our own britches and need put in our place?   I may be old fashion and out of touch with the political main stream but, I see our nation crumbling and going down the road to self destruction before my very own eyes. As said, “a house divided against itself can not stand”, and to me that says America.   In the last 100 years of our national sovereignty, knowledge and technology has exponentially increased and wisdom and common sense has exponentially decreased by the same amount. A little more than 100 years ago the fastest a person could travel was about 35 M.P.H. by horse back, and look at where we are today. Thousands of years of humans evolving on planet earth, then all of a sudden in 100 years, an explosion of knowledge. Go figure, but I do know why.   To name just a couple major recent historical changes in our society as reflected by law: A murderous rapist has more rights with the state than the victim and family of the deceased. The unborn have no legal or moral standing under U.S. Law and are disposed of as trash. Without naming specific crimes, hate laws have been passed for certain segments of society that makes us unequal in the eyes of the law. The government is calling good evil and evil good and calling for U.S. to embrace and celebrate it? What's wrong with this picture, or is it just me and my old views?   At my old age I had the opportunity to talk to many grandfathers, great-grandfathers and old timers who served in World War II. If I were old enough to personally talk to veterans of WW I and all the other wars previously fought for our nation, I'm sure their opinions would be united. I don't believe they would say they lost a limb(s), life, eye sight, mental capacity or disfigurement for the America we are and are on the road to. We are self destructing and a moral mess.   By a show of hands, how many of you respect the last measure of self your forefathers gave to preserve our way of life and want to preserve it, that of our great nation and our children's inheritance?   Or do you hope for a God-less one world government where the government dictates what's moral and what's not.

  7. Usually issued in a semi formal ceremony (at least mine were) while serving with that unit.   Tradition is huge part of being in the military.  A coin, while holding no value like our fiat money, holds value greater than gold to those that served.  This is why issues like stolen valor mean so much to those that served and are generally not of interest to the greater public as a whole.   Done correctly, a TGO coin could hold good value to those here.  Can't be purchased until a certain time being a member had been fullfilled and issued with a number that can be "striken from the roles" should that member catch a ban hammer.

  9. What the politicians are attempting to do as far as gun control is stupid, but asking the leaders of our country to give up their protection is equally dumb. Their are more productive ways to address this issue.

You will not hear the gunshot but you will still suffer the temporary ringing when your body gets back to normal.   I would never shoot without hearing protection, indoors or out, any more. I used to when I was young and invincible and not I have a constant ringing because of it.   Dolomite

  16. I'm with you 100%. I tire of hearing people use that to discribe every person that they don't like. We should really come up with something better and a little more demeaning like.... "What a steel guitar player!" Or "That guys dumber than a bag of studio musicians!" :0)

  18. Remember, the truth is always the truth regardless of timing or delivery.   I'm 66 years old and ive never seen the divide any deeper nor the rancor any nastier than it is now between the opposite sides of the political spectrum.  It's time to tell the truth.  These people want to disarm you and me; while keeping their arms and bodyguards.  It's nothin more that the social darwinism thing that wuz popular in the early 1900s. At its core; it says: "....We the elites are smarter and more responsible than you less evolved "ordinary citizens"; therefore we'll TELL YOU what's good for you and make you abide by it, because we are "more advanced beings; and you are too ignorant to know what's good for you; so we'll disarm you and threaten you with the power of the state to keep you in line....".     I wouldn't worry about offending these sons and daughters of satan.  They are tryin to disarm you and make you a serf while tellin you that that's not what their doing.  Finestein just as well have been standing on the caskets of the kids murdered at Newtown when she started this show.  It's political opportunism, pure and simple.    Remember, political figures are "public figures".   That's a choice they make goin into politics.  They bring their families along with them, and should have no expectation of privacy for themselves or their family members.  They may try "theatrics" and "feigned outrage" at those who criticize or point uncomfortable things out publically; demanding that family be "off limits" ALA Clinton and Nobama.  I say "baloney".  It's a "red herring"; they know better.  It's nothin but an opportunity to try to divert the conversation from the real issue to a side issue that really means nothing for tactical advantage. Dont get drug off in the woods with this baloney; that's what it is. The republicans criticized Truman's daughters piano playin ability; the demorats called Lincoln the "Illinois Baboon; the demorats said Bush wuz dumb.   They just may have been right on all counts.  They were, in fact, "unkind on all counts" and meant to be.  Politics is a tough business.   I say: "...The hell with most all of them... Theyve asked for this, let it be...".     Remember the great quote from a real hero and giant of politics, Fredrick Douglas: "...I will always join with those who are doing right, and never join with those who are doin wrong...".  That's exactly where we are today.  I refuse to turn on and "eat" those who are tryin to help in this battle.  I would advise you and others in the kindest way possible, not to do so either.   We're well past the point of worryin about hurting feelings and worryin about timing.  This one is for all the marbles.   leroy

  27. How do you think those in power, stay in power? They are the so called "masters", do as they say and not as they do. For the Nanny state knows what is best for us and when we are dependent on government for security, it gives government an excuse for existing.   The more people realize they do not need government for everything, the less powerful government becomes.

  35. Punching through isn't the issue, sagging is. People are considered "dynamic loads" as they don't sit in the same spot for years. The safe will sit in the same spot for years and years. The floor will begin to sag and pull the adjacent walls with it.... the sheetrock will crack, doors won't swing or shut properly anymore, and it's easily prevented. As Lester suggested, some blocking between the joists, a post footer, and a floor joist jack. Should cost less than $100 and take a couple hours to do. Blocking between joists and they've laminated additional joists to the existing ones. Floor jack post.

  36. I have seen this magician's trick used by the media before, when they were filming Muslims protesting. They announce "There were THOUSANDS of protesters marching in Washington DC." Then they show film footage of protesters. The film footage that I am seeing shows no more than a few dozen to maybe a couple of hundred. They do this to create the illusion that there were thousands of people marching, when it truth, the numbers were not there. If there had really been thousands of people in Washington, they would have filmed from a higher location and panned the crowd to show it's immenseness. What they did was shoot low angle shots of the protestors so you really couldn't tell how many there were. Unless someone can give me some concrete numbers or better film footage, I would say that the turn out was much less than expected. The liberal media does not want us to know that so they "wagged the dog" on us. With less than expected support for gun control and gun sales sky rocketing, I see a weakness that can be exploited. IMHO, a lot of Americans are turning away from the anti-gun crowd. If we keep the pressure on we can win this fight. Even on CNN's website their video shows a few hundreds of protestors at the most. I see one shot where there might be 500 people in it. Have gun Will Carry.

  38. Buddy o mine who works at a small airport in New Orleans called me a while back. Said The USMC Commandant (apologies if I misspelled that) came through his airport and gave him some kinda weird coin that didn't look like it was currency but did look valuable. He had no idea what it was. I told him to hold on to it as he got a freaking challenge coin from the freaking USMC COMMANDANT. On a side note, from what I've learned about the challenge coin stuff, even if the other person is able to present it the higher ranking coin wins and is still owed a drink.

  47. We live in interesting times as gun owners.  As glock55 said times are not normal.  Normally you could just walk into a local gun shop and find ammo, rifles, magazines, etc. and browse at a leisurely pace and buy something if the price seemed reasonable.  Presently you are lucky if you can even get into a store without standing in line, lucky if you can find a rifle that isn't brown and bolt operated, lucky if you aren't limited to buying just one or two boxes of ammo because the store is trying to combat hoarders who are flipping the ammo for 500% profit at gun shows, and lucky if the price of anything is what it used to be just eight weeks ago.   Times have changed.  The small single-proprietor business consisting of one guy who makes holsters, answers the phone, updates his own web site and ships things out when they're ready to go is completely overloaded right now.  And as consumers, we have decades of "I want it right now" experience that tends to make us petulant assholes who think that one guy ought to be kissing our butts for the chance to serve us.   I've got news for you:  That one guy is probably working more hours per week than the customer is right now.  In fact, if the customer has free time to try to visit his store, or call him on the phone, or email him at all during daylight hours, I can guarantee you that he's working more hours than the customer is.   Collectively as gun owners and consumers, we need to get off our high horses and stop being such complete dicks about this.  We can either suck it up and wait our turn in line and support the folks who are in business providing the things we want to buy, or we can keep acting like a bunch of spoiled four year-olds and push them out of business from sheer burnout.   It's our choice.
