I bought one of these at Optics Planet a month or so ago on sale for my Glock 30 for less than $50 shipped. After wearing it awhile, I gotta say I am impressed. Impressed with the comfort of carry and the secure way it holds my model 30. This is a VERY comfortable holster even with the Glock 30 loaded with 11 rounds of Gold Dot 45's. The pistol canter is adjustable, solid and very firm. The Glock is locked in place with the trigger completely covered and it cannot fall out, or be taken from you easily at all. Yet,with just a little practice and a very simple finger press at the right location, it's smoothly and without any delay in your hand ready for whatever needs arise. If I was in Law Enforcement, this would be my holster of choice. Also comes with a firm belt loop attachment. I'm in love with the paddle though. I carry the 30 often, and this thing holds tightly to the body, conceals very well and did I say very comfortable? I'd recommend to a friend....LOL!2 points

I was attacked last week at work, not once, but twice. I did nothing to provoke either assault...I was minding my own business. The first encounter happened on Tuesday, when I was headed back to my cubicle when I was shot twice with a USB powered missile laucher. The second attack ocurred on Friday. Two assailants with Nerf guns creeped up on me. One laid down suppressive fire from my right while his accomplice circled around and shot me. I wanted to put this in "Survival and Preparedness", but it's really only my pride that suffered. Nonetheless, I vowed to serve the cowards that waylayed me a dose of their own medicine. So, today I started building a jelly bean launching trebuchet. It may lack mobility and I may not have the same rate of fire as my attackers, but I plan to win the war with cool points instead of littering the office landscape with bodies. I think that will repair my wounded pride faster than bloodshed. I'll post pics as my project progresses.2 points

I thought that some day, in the far distant future, things like this would be happening. What's been going on this past month with these proposed laws have me looking at things very differently. I no longer believe that liberal Democrats are simply misguided folks with differing ideology; to me they are fascists that will not be satisfied until I bend to their ideology, and they will legislate me out of my rights until I am under their thumb. I hope these states pass these laws in their full, unconstitutional form. I think the backlash would give them a lesson about how many Americans reject their ideology.2 points

I too originally thought this was a "knee-jerk reaction" to the Sandy Hook shooting, but the more I have read and thought, I am convinced this is no knee-jerk reaction. Rather, the anti-gun crowd is taking full advantage of what they see as an opportunity to pass legislation they have wanted for over 20 years. When the VP admits that the policies they are proposing will have no significant effect on gun violence, you know that this is only an exercise in exploiting a tragedy for political gain (just so I'm clear, both major parties regularly do this). I would like to see Magpul stick to their guns on this, but I'm afraid the cost would be so massive that any bone that gets thrown to them will be good reason for them to stay put. I'm not sure how I will react if they do that. Unless some other folks step up, there will come a point where there will be nobody left to boycott that has products worth owning. I think that Magpul would have an opportunity to take a financial hit now, but establish a reputation for being a stand-up company that would pay off over the long haul.2 points

CTD has raised their prices every time there was a crisis. They did it in 2004 when the AWB sunsetted, they did it in 2008 after the election and again in 2012 in response to the election and Sandy Hook. And if there is one company the gun community doesn't need help from it is CTD. The owner is unscrupulous and not just for raising prices. He has actively tried to steal from people. Dolomite2 points

I have a unique perspective on things like this. I have worked LE and seen it from the inside. I have worked with bad officers and I have worked with good officers. LE has gone from a point of the officer being there to help like most officers were doing 20+ years ago to a "us" vs "them" mentality we see today. That is the reason why most officers will cover for fellow officers or at least look the other way because they are on the same side, the "us" side. The reason this has happened is because there was a shift about 15-20 years ago to hire military over those who weren't. Along with those military personnel came the military mindset that many had. And then with the influx of military personnel came the influx of military tactics, ways of training as well as the "us" vs "them" mentality. This is the reason there has been a militarization of most police departments as well. The "us" vs "them" mentality is how the military trains. There is always an enemy in the military and then when they transition to civilian jobs they keep the same "us" vs "them" mentality except those not in law enforcement are now the enemy. This is why the officers choose to cover up or look the other way because they do not want to help those that are now their new "enemy". And although we would love to hate this officer for what he did it is not entirely his fault. His actions are the result of his continued training, his peers, his supervisors as well as the administration. They have allowed other incidents to go unpunished which only empowers officers like this. It is a rare that an officer goes from being an outstanding officer to a crappy officer in one step, it happens gradually and usually in front of their peers and supervisors. Officers tend to take care of their own even when the bad officer brings a bad light to the good ones. I never understood this, the good officers should be very angry with the bad officer but it rarely happened from what I witnessed. I know any time I had an officer screw up enough to warrant being fired I tried everythig in my power to fire them but in most cases the administration allowed them to resign because it was easier. And in a lot of cases the resigning officer received a letter of recommendation upon exit as well as a glowing review because he didn't try to fight it. Another thing that contributes to things like this is that officers are afraid of being labeled a rat if they tell on other officers. I have known several officers who did the right thing in by turning in bad officers only to be ridiculed and threatened until they finally resigned. In most cases the bad officer would be treated better than the good officer. And when the good officer resigned they would rarely get letters of recommendation. I have even sat in front of supervisors as they called all the surrounding jurisdictions to tell them the officer who just resigned is a rat. They would joke saying the rat officer has been blackballed and will never work LE again. Stark contrast to the way they treat bad cops. Not all officers are bad. In fact just the opposite. But I have seen both sides and for this reason I view most officers with a bit of distrust unless I know them. Again, very few officers are bad but one bad one can ruin your day, year or life. I wish they would refuse to sell to anyone, including distributors and FFL's, in the affected states. If not then the gov't and LE agencies will just buy from the dealers. I know a lot of officers and 90% of them buy from dealers right now, very few order their equipment or other items online. This statement doesn't mean squat unless they refuse to sell to EVERYONE in the affected states that LE might be able to buy from. I spend more money with Midway than all other places combined. I will continue to order from and support them 100% but their statement, along with every other one we have heard lately, means nothing without a total blockade. Dolomite2 points

I think that over analysis has been running wild throughout this entire situation, it's not a plan to have us turn on any of the companies. They, as always, do not think any decisions out more than a step or two. My guess is that most of those politicians passing the laws didn't even know who Magpul was, much less that the factory was in their own state. We as consumers have a choice to drive the market in ways that we want, that is capitalism. I don't think anyone wants to boycott Magpul, but if they stay in a state that supports state imposed restrictions, then why should anyone out of the state buy from them? All they're doing is pumping $100mil into an economy that despises them and us.2 points

I know police officers who think you have a legal requirement to notify if you are carrying. I feel that it's none of the officer's concern whether I am carrying and I do NOT notify them, but will be cooperative and honest if they were to ask. Being a former police officer myself, I know that it's not the permit holders that they need to worry about, but based on my own personal experiences, I know how some officers over-react at the very mention of a firearm in the vehicle. I have personally watched officers draw their sidearm on honest people who volunteer the information trying to be helpful. I have seen in person, and on TV, officers take a weapon screw around with it trying to make it safe, drop them and the mags, etc. I'd rather take the risk of letting the officer get annoyed that I didn't volunteer should they ask than risk getting some walking attitude with a badge pull their gun on me or drop my $600 carry pistol on the pavement. After spending 10 years in the profession and having students who are now in the profession, I wish I didn't feel that much distrust of police officers, but it is what it is.1 point

Employer/Employee is an implied contract, you work for me for X an hour (week, year) under the following conditions. Freedom of association is a fundamental right, and one that should guide court cases... I have a right to associate and disassociate as I as a free person see fit. I pick my friends, my wife, and people I do business with in my daily life, any interference from the government is a violation of that right. Some will choose to promote associations that others find question or even immoral, and you're free to disassociate yourself from those persons. As for child labor, the more and more skilled labor required the fewer and fewer children are put to work. As wages increased education of children is seen as a greater investment than having them work inside or outside the home to help support the family. You can also see today in countries that are poor, and suddenly start to crack down on child labor you see a steep uptick in less savory methods of making money. Vietnam is a perfect example of this where because of anti-child labor laws passed over the last 10 years poor families are selling their daughters into the sex slave trade because they're not longer able to afford them. As people make more money from more skilled labor, the instances of child labor go away... So the government didn't do away with child labor, the economy did... Ok, I'll cite my examples of how we largely didn't have zoning laws unto fairly recently... 1916 is the first example of zoning laws, which happened in NYC because of the Equitable Building, and the Dept of Commerce released the first setup of nation wide zoning regulations involving sky scrappers in 1924. We still have counties in TN that have little or no zoning, and Davidson County didn't have a zoning board until after world war 2 (although my understanding is that the city of Nashville did). Ever been to Houston? I'm pretty sure there are some expensive homes down there. No zoning in Houston at all. So it can and does work... If you're a developer you can still place covenants on the deed so you can build a community of similar homes, but you can't control what others do with property you don't own. I think that 'society' aka big government likes to get up in everybody's business, even if they morally or constitutionally have no right to... and they often do so in the name of society. Which is a progressive line of thinking... Our founding fathers viewed any form of government at it's best as a necessary evil, they set out a number of restrictions to place limits on that government, because they feared exactly what we have today. Government is there to prevent others from harming you (and punish those that do), either by 'stealing your wallet or breaking your leg'. Anytime government exceeds this simple rule it is no longer a necessary evil, it's just plain evil. As for men in black robes, I didn't sign up for them lording over me anymore than any other man... I'm able to read and understand the constitution and the founding documents of this country, and when a 10 year old can understand what the 2nd amendment means and a bunch of judges can't, then it's just more tyranny. These judges get it wrong all the time, often very wrong... So let me ask you this... every judge that allowed somebody to be charged under the DC handgun ban... they were right all those times? If tomorrow SCOTUS ruled they got Heller wrong, then suddenly we loose the God given right to self defense and access to the tools to provide for that defense? Every case a judge allowed to go forward under the DC handgun ban (Chicago and other cities too) were all wrong, Heller didn't change the fact those rulings were all wrong, only recognized a God given right, and if they changed their mind tomorrow, it doesn't matter that God given right still exists, no government can take a right away, only infringe upon it. 'Libertarian' really should be the progressive wing of logic, a bigger question is how am I bound by choices and decisions people made long ago by people I never even met? How is it that others can bind me to slavery of taxes and laws that I had no say in? How is it a generation of people who have been dead for nearly 100 years can restrict my God given freedoms today and I have no say in the matter? Are any of these questions really all that radical, or have most of us been good little statists being spoon fed at the trough of big government's 'for the good of society' lie? Liberty means the freedom to do what I want to do without restrict up to the point that I cause you direct harm. You choosing to work for somebody who requires that you be unarmed 24/7 is your choice and it causes you no direct harm, and therefore is none of the government (or societies) business.1 point

I disagree. I had thousands of dollars in my pocket when I went to North Carolina to buy a car. From what I have seen if I had been stopped on I-40 in Tennessee I could have very well been in danger of having my money seized if they ask me about cash and I answered truthfully. Cops that do that are thugs with badges, and are in the minority. You should be appalled at it. I blame the departments that allow it. They should be under investigation by the TBI and the FBI. I didn’t know about this at the time. I wouldn’t do it now. Cops fighting on the roadside for territory? Come on, how does that just go away? If I have 32K in cash on me and you don’t like my explanation; you get to seize it? Sorry, that is ridiculous.1 point

Well that is the only reason I can assume LE would justify seizure of cash if there is no evidence other than the money itself. It's one thing if there is hard evidence to back it up, but if the seizure comes without charges that tells me there is no evidence, or at least not sufficient evidence to file charges. The presumption of innocence is supposed to be there until you are proven otherwise in a court of law, but to seize assets without there even being a judge involved is so insane I can't put it into words. And then the process where you then have to PROVE that you obtained that cash through legal means is rediculous. What is to keep police from taking the $100 bucks in my pocket and saying that I need to hire a lawyer to get it back? Their good nature? Sorry, I'll trust most LE, but like with any other profession there are still crappy people in the LE field. Forgive me if I don't blindly trust that not one officer would abuse an unjust law. I'm all about hitting drug traffickers where it hurts, but there have been clear abuses of this law. Officers have been targeting out-of-state vehicles under the pretense of them fitting a certain description based on profiling or intelligence. However, the flip side to this coin is that officers may inadvertently target out-of-state travelers who are not drug traffickers at all. I travel across the country all the time by vehicle, and when I do I usually have at least 1k in cash on my person; usually more. I don't think that is uncommon at all. If my vehicles happens to fit a certain description, such as when I'm driving to Florida in my SUV, which rides low in the back due to luggage weight, weapons and ammunition (as I shoot a whole lot when I'm down there) I am now a target for LEOs. If I am pulled over for a false reason (which one of the stories cited gives a perfect example of an officer lying as to why he pulled a vehicle over) and I am cooperative with the officer, allowing him to satisfy his curiousity since I have nothing to hide as a law abiding citizen I am, I am VERY likely to have the cash he finds on my person or in my luggage confiscated by this officer. Since there are no laws broken, he will be unable to arrest me since there are no charges. Now I have to hire a lawyer to get back that money, probably in a county that is a great distance from my own residence. There is a greater likelihood that I'll say "f**k it, it isn't worth my time" rather than spend more time and money to get back what they took... at the convenience of the court. And what is the acceptable retort from the system? "Well, if he legally obtained it then he should come fight to get it back. Since he didn't, it's ours." Sorry, not good enough. This act is going to get out of hand because the latitude afforded to officers who lack the maturity to exercise their power appropriately.1 point

I agree with other things you have said, but remember a citation is issued in leu of an arrest. Yes, speeding is an arrest able offense. If their probable cause for the stop was an infraction and not just a suspicious vehicle they may very well arrest you after that statement. I have known some TN Drug Task Force Agent's and when they take cash it is almost always honest to got true drug money. I will not give away how they know the origins of money but they have a very relible method. Honest people have nothing to fear. When DTF stops a vehicle and suspect's drug trafficing it's over before the driver even knows what happened. A series of questions and the agent knows what's in the car and which process of the transportation it is in. Once again no one here has any reason to fear for the safety of their money, unless your trafficing.1 point

Maybe they didn't "apprehend" him because the day he died Dorner engaged a truck with Park Rangers in it with a heavy volume of fire in an attempt to kill the occupants, then later shot two deputies, killing one, before barricading himself in the house and not surrendering when given the opportunity, making it clear to any one WHO HAS BASIC REASONING SKILLS, that he will try to kill anyone who enters the home to apprehend him. I don't know about you, but I'm not going into that house to face certain death if there is a way around it. They tried to gas him. It caused a fire (maybe). The news showed a press conferance with the police, and the Chief reported the fire was started by a tear gas canister which was fired into the cabin. Personally, I hand the officer my license, HCP, insurance, and registration without being asked regardless if I'm carrying or not.1 point

I keep my carry permit under my driver license and when the officer asks for my license I give the license and carry permit to him. I also turn on the inside lights and roll both windows down as I am pulling over. I have been stopped twice and both times the officers stated they appreciated the way I reacted. I didn't get a ticket in either case and the second time the officer asked what kind of gun I carried. We had a short glock chat, bid each other a good day and went our separate ways. Your mileage my vary but this approach seems to work for me.1 point
