I have a SHTF stock pile that I started long before the madness, I will not get into it just for range time. That allows me the luxury of being able to shoot what I find now, with the exception of .22lr. I have several thousand rounds but not knowing when I could replace them I am reluctant to send them down the pipe without something in exchange, i.e. a squirrel, or something else for the cookfire. On a side note, My FIL asked me tonight if I knew where to get some .22, I just chuckled. He told me he finished last box last week. I told him I had not seen any in a few weeks just to keep trying online and checking the stores. Then it happened, he asked if I still had some. I said I had a few, I had searched and found some online about a month ago. he asked if he could have some of mine so he could target shoot some more. He is a die hard democrat and I could not help but laugh as I told him, "that is a democrat for you, you spent al of yours so now you want some of what I have worked for and saved." I asked him how he voted last year, and he grinned and said "you know how I voted" so I told him "you reap what you sow." I also declined to "share the wealth". Does that make me an ass hole?4 points

Wife and I are way over do on buying a larger house, 2013 may be the year of the big buy. One of the stipulations I have (which isn't many), must have a location and acerage that I can shoot and pee outside. Love to have a similiar setup like Hickok45. Nothing fancy, doesn't have to be flat, but just the abilty and no complaining neighbors.2 points

Does anyone really think that the federal government is capable of keeping an accurate database for the millions (likely in excess of 200 million privately owned in the U.S.) of weapons in the country? To the best of my knowledge (and actually I know of more than one specific example); the government can't keep the current NFA registry accurate and up to date even with about 70 years to get it right and with a tiny fraction of weapons to keep track of...if they can't do that how are they going to do it when the work expands exponentially? More to the point, people will be people...some people WILL NOT COMPLY and never think a thing about it. I'm not saying the government won't try, especially when you have useful idiots like Bob Pope out there extolling the problem of the non-existent "gun show loophole" but the government actually making it work? I don't think so.2 points

Has anyone here read the book: " Roots of Obamas Rage"? How about the movie "Obamas 2016"? This guy would be on a no fly list if he were not "king nothing" of the puss filled, parasite laden, river of raw sewage called washington dc. I would like to hear from anyone that has read the book about this America hating, communist, community organizing rat vermin from kenya.1 point

Anyone else going to watch it? I never miss it, even had a party one year for it when I forgot it fell on my wedding anniversary date, LOL. The warden is a trooper and did not flinch or smack me for it. Even made a bunch of food to help out. I would like to see Danica win but I don't particularly root for her. I am picking Smoke to win but my heart will be riding around in Mark Martin's car. If he wins I would probably start bawling. I always get sort of homesick for Florida for this race. If we still lived down there I would have been at the track this week for Thursday, Friday and Saturday's races, We mostly never stuck around for the 500 except for '98 when Dale won it, hoping for a safe race and MM in victory lane at the end.1 point

After reloading a few 9mm's, I was finally able to get out today and test them out. I'm happy to report that they worked wonderfully in my Glocks 17 and 26! My loads were 115gr FMJ, with 5.5grains of Unique powder. OAL was 1.15 with fed through the pistols without a hitch. The brass that I was able to recover (shooting outside) was relatively clean with no splitting. I'm guessing that I'm going to stick with this formula for my target ammo since it works. It sure feels good to shoot your own ammo without a problem... or at least it did for me.1 point

Decided to try out a different pattern tonight for a 1911 holster. Somewhat of a western style.1 point

Looks good to me. I find your stitching really impressive. Someone always chimes in with the uncovered trigger comment. How many cover the trigger when carrying a shotgun through bird country or sitting in a treestand with their trusty ought 6? I like a western flair to gun accessories. Here's one I tried a while back and sorta liked:1 point

First time for my son and I to ever shoot the range. We enjoyed it and will be back. Was impressed how smooth it was ran and what great range officers we had (LagerHead). They ran a safe, tight ship but without a range nazi attitude and that was deeply appreciated. We left learning a few things about shooting steel, and met some great folks at the same time who were more than happy to share tips and opinions about gear, guns, etc. Hope to make it a regular monthly run. MCTS does it right!1 point

Depends on the car. Now if we start talking Rally? Oh yeah..... Nothing like a awd turbo car doing 90+ mph sideways through the trees1 point

Yes, wife and I were there. The TFA guy was knowledgable but wore us out.....he rambled for it seemed 30 minutes telling us minute details about some piece of legislation that never reached a vote. Seemed sort of pointless. Nicely did a good job and was brief. I do not understand your question about Nicely. He told us that the Republicans have passed 21 good gun bills in the last several years and reminded us how bad things were with Naifey [sic]. A good rally and, they are going to have more of them. The TFA guy told us that our problems are in Nashville and Nicely told us that our problems are in D.C. which I am more inclined to believe.1 point

It would need to be very bad before I "bug out"! But, if I had to leave I would go in the Jeep. And if I had to carry more stuff, I would use the off road trailer hooked to it. I would think a bug out vehicle would need to be 4WD because some roads may be blocked? It needs to be a vehicle that is highly maneuverable in tight places and even if I needed to use the off road trailer, it would still go where pickups would have a hard time. The trailer has a special hitch and had to have "limits" built to match the Rubicon maneuverability, the hitch doesn't bind in any direction.1 point

I'll watch the wreck highlights later. Other than that, I have no interest in people turning to the left for hours on end NSFW language warning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC9Zi1Fpq1Y1 point

You know the answer to that...most politicians, regardless of party and any declared "core principles", are only truly concerned with obtaining and maintaining power and are loath to do anything they don't have to do or be forced into taking any sort of stand on something because doing so means that they will alienate some group and therefore lose votes and campaign donations. We no longer have a representative republic; we have a ruling class of elites who get elected to what essentially becomes life-long careers and a slightly less elite class of life-long bureaucrats...as long as that exists we cannot have the freedom and liberty our founders intended for us to have.1 point

that is the reason the store I am at has a public restroom. If someone needs to go they will just walk around back and do it. We don't exactly want people peeing on our walls.1 point

Mosin rifle is perfect as is. The Great Socialist Revolution has provided perfect rifle for Workers to use against Greedy Capitalist running-dog Oppressors! All Workers are Equal with this rifle. Bolt operation gives Workers Strong Right Arm! Only weak American lackey arms need to use hammer or wood stick to beat bolt open when rifle gets warm! Replace wood stock grown from trees of the Holy Motherland with Capitalist plastic produced from greedy aristocratic oil-scum ?! Take this unpatriotic mewling scum out and shoot him with Excellent Cheka Commisar Nagant pistol.1 point

I have 50 yards at my house which is plenty for what I do most days. It isn't as long as I would like but being able to walk out and shoot is worth it, especially when working up handloads. There were times when I would sit on the couch in my living room and shoot groups out the front door. I do have a few friends that have ranges out past 200 yards. I am looking for land now to get some extra distance. Dolomite1 point

If you own a business and you don't want people coming in just to use the restroom, then put up a sign that says "For Patrons Only". Otherwise, I'm using it and don't feel compelled to buy anything.1 point

Must be the build quality of the latest rifles, as mine does not look anywhere that good. Does yours have a safety on the top right in front of the hammer? I am asking because yours looks like the Rossi/Puma instead of the Rossi/Braztech. I got the gunslinger kit from Brownells for about 20 bucks.1 point
-
The problem with this is that guys who need help will drop out of the process too. It shouldn't be freely handed out but the process shouldn't be so onerous as to discourage claimants.1 point
-
The Marlins are great; just get one without a safety. Browning makes a very nice copy of a model 92 Winchester. Winchester also makes a 92, as well as a 94 chambered for 357. The are fine as well. For the money, I really like my Rossi 92 in 357.1 point

You guys aren't gonna believe this, but TN Code Annotated: 39-17-105. Charge for use of public toilet facility prohibited. (a) It is an offense for a person maintaining toilet facilities available to the public to impose a charge for the use of the facility. Each toilet facility maintained in violation of this section constitutes a separate offense. (c) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.1 point

I think the story will get them enough bad advertising that they will rethink their business and wish they never tried to get that $5. Hopefully it costs them $10,000 in business As for the cop, hopefully there's an investigation on him and he is held accountable. If there was no police report filed, then he has nothing to investigate. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought there needs to be some type of report before they know what to investigate. Sounds like it's a case of "I messed up, now backtracking to CYA"1 point

Having trouble editing the quote on this pc so just going to leave it as is. @ LagerHead Please go back and note that I didn't say this place was a crap hole. Second, popularity doesn't mean you are right. Obama comes to mind. More people voted for him than anyone else running. That said, I come here because certain sections contain information I find useful and/or entertaining. Also, some people here (OhShoot is the first one that comes to mind) are willing and able to explain using facts, logic etc to explain their point. I respect him because even when he schools me, he isn't disrespectful. Some on here though, enough to apparently give this place a reputation, are disrespectful. Some here apparently lack basic concepts of logic, are completely incapable or unwilling to even consider a different viewpoint, take comments out of context, etc. If I say something on here, then it's because I believe it to be true. Doesn't mean it is the truth currently, or that it was ever true. It may simply be my opinion. If someone disagrees, then by all means say so. Tell me why you think (or can prove) I am wrong. But when someone takes what I say and twists it, then I attempt to correct them. In this thread, I finally decided this battle wasn't worth fighting, and walked away. Lastly, I personally think this forum has its good points. I also think it is a great place for the media to come and get comments to use in their biased stories. So I will continue to visit as long as I am welcome.1 point

They tried to talk me into the PTSD crap also. Its like they want you to claim it. Yeah, no thanks. I have no reason to ptsd1 point
-
Yep, I practically had to argue with the rep doing my VA paperwork on why I'm not claiming PTSD. Made me wonder about all the people they hit up on the way out who see that as free money and the closest they got to combat was having an indirect round impact near their FOB.1 point

By this logic, we should declare the general populous crazy for continuing to elect these idiots!1 point

It does very very little, frankly. It is not really much more than a bone being thrown at HCP holders in hopes that they'll shut up and let the ruling elite work in important things (like securing more campaign donations). ;)1 point

I like it! One of the four way type stand off deals. That would mean you would need 8 prop guns though. Maybe they will have enough. If not you can always paint your hands black and point at them with your fingers in the shape of a gun. If it passes as a gun for a school principal then it must be good enough!1 point

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I have practiced drawing from this holster quite a bit during the past couple of weeks. Each time I've drawn the pistol, I find my trigger finger tends to land along the bottom of the rail and not close to the trigger. This does help in controlling the pistol until time to fire. I'm not a big guy with huge hands either, but then this is the Glock 30 which is a shorter version of Glock and not full size. This could be the difference. I could see this being possibility with a full size Glock. I've been thinking of getting one for my Glock 17. I'll keep this in mind. Thanks for the heads up!1 point

I'll commission my own study: According to my study, 9 out of 10 liberals who ran their mouth about stuff they know nothing about were punched in the face for saying stupid things. The obvious solution to the problem is to limit the 1st Amendment rights of people for their own protection and to reduce the number of violent assaults, which have become a health concern.1 point

Ron Ramsey was on WPLN this afternoon trying to have his cake and eat it too. Claimed ignorance of the loophole, and that Pretty underhanded. Our current Republican supermajority wants nothing more than for gun owners to go away, and are more than happy to sacrifice us on the alter of the precious big business interests that have bought them. I think we should publically name the next Debra Maggert. Edit: link attached. http://wpln.org/?p=455361 point
