I got a call from Corker's Chief Council this afternoon. I reckon they are getting the drift that they may have stepped in it this time. He tried the same old, "We feel the Senate is where issues should be debated" scam on me. I told him first, in my mind the debate on the 2nd was done in the early 1700's between us and England, and, between the Citizens of the US during the years it took to ratify the Constitution, which required the Bill of Rights to get that done. Secondly, I told him the whole thing reminded me of having a cottonmouth tied up in a tote sack, and taking that bag into my grandkid's Sunday School class and cutting the tie and dumping it on the floor. I assure him that the class teacher and the kids could debate what to do, but that I was pretty sure that they were not better off by having that discussion, when it could have been avoided in the first fricken place.4 points

Guys, there are a lot of esoteric notions floating around in this thread. Let me squash some of this before it gets out of hand: As stated previously there won't be a PayPal option for this. It's against their TOS and we're not going to creatively try to skirt that and ruin a good relationship with them. We aren't going to do a logo contest to see what people like the best. The logo will be the TGO icon that appears on our 3" circular decals. The serial numbers will most likely start with TGO######. Nothing has been determined regarding distribution yet. An FFL will have to be involved, obviously. We will work with our existing TGO Vendors first when the time comes. If a Vendor is not in your part of the state, we will have to work around that. Currently the only thing on the drawing board is the standard 5.56 size lower. We do not have any info about doing a 7.62 size lower. If that changes, we'll make a post about it. Thanks.3 points

I think I will pass on trusting you if you believe that the complexity of the human brain can be revealed by a handful of questions, and IIRC the question are the same 7 or 8 repeated to catch people being inconsistent in their answers so its really boiling down all of humanity to 10 or less questions!! I also pass on psych evals --- I do not trust shrinks, I do not trust the government to administer the process properly, I do not trust any of it based off what is currently happening in NYC and other places. Let me make it really, really, really simple for you. There are people who will fail these "exams" that are harmless, and their rights will be violated. There are people who will pass these exams and go on to butcher one or more victims. This is epic fail. Catching a small % of a small % of violent folks in a way that hurts innocents is not the american way --- its on par with racial profiling, etc, or guilty until proven innocent, or other things that are not acceptable in our system. On top of that, the BULK of violence is caused by evil people. These are the drug dealers, pimps, and thugs that congregate in large cities but can be found anywhere, who are willing to do anything for personal gain. We have tried (and failed) to stop these people for hundreds of years ---- gun control, registration, and aggravating rules to purchase will not have any more effect on stopping violence than the war on drugs. All it will do is create a new illegal commodity to peddle (guns) which is already done to some extent but it would increase the black market share on these items. You want to stop people from hurting each other? Then make it illegal to hurt other people, if laws are the answer. Oh wait...3 points

I mentioned this in another thread and thought I would post what I have been seeing. On Alexander's Facebook page they posted his determination to support the 2nd amendment. (Why?!?) Because other older posts were being littered with comments from people about him not supporting the filibuster. (They saw this was becoming something they needed to address! That means a meeting, drafting a response, then watching to see if it has the desired effect.) After posting that 20 hours ago they have gotten over 888 comments to that specific post. (That is almost 45 comments an hour!) So what does that tell them? "Oh CRAP!! Not just smoke... We got a FIRE PEOPLE!!" So what do they do? Post another comment to help "clarify" Alexander's position! That was just 48 minutes ago and they already have an additional 52 comments!! (More than 1 a minute!) Corker is having the same thing happening with his page. Creeky's 5 reasons this is an important tool... 1. They HAVE to read the comments... Not part, not skim... ALL the comments. The reason is it has to be managed by someone. Usually a staffer or two. They have to read them to police them for inappropriate content; language, links to products, etc. (My client struggles with this and employs "online Editors" that do nothing but manage their facebook pages for their different products.) 2. It's public... Everyone can see the comments. Including the media outlets and possible people who are wanting to run against them in primaries or general elections. They know this! 3. It can snowball... It's very easy to "share" a politicians post and send it to a friend and say "Can you believe he is saying this?!?". People reading comments they agree we can't help but "chime in" most of the time. This adds more comments that have to be viewed and checked. 4. The viral problem... a mis-spoken response from a staffer or a really good point made in a comment could go "Viral". This is something all companies really, REALLY fear!! If it goes viral it goes nuclear! Triple the comments, plus the press could pick up on it, then people NOT on facebook start hearing about it. b. Staff morale... Staffers get worn down quickly having to answer phone calls and emails. It's emotionally and mentally taxing. After a while (I assume) you "zone out. You start seeing patterns with calls and emails and you can adjust to it. to a degree. You start skim reading emails, or just lumping them all together. Phone calls you sort of go into "call center mode" and repeat the same thing over and over. Facebook comments are different. They are more taxing... you can't allow mis-information, language, etc. to get in there. So it has to be managed in "real time". These people can only do this for so long then the complaints start. the senators will see the effect it is having on their people... the people they depend on! This is NOT a substitute for calling and writing letters... not at all!! This however is another effective way to put public pressure on elected officials that should not be discounted. If you feel like leaving them a comment, below are links to their Facebook Pages. (If you have a facebook account.) Alexander's Face Book Page Corker's Facebook Page2 points

Read rush's web site. You can get the entire radio show in 5 min instead of 4 hours. He has good things to say, but he is just too obnoxious to listen to live, for me. Rush is pro-gun but clueless about guns. He reacts to what the media says but it would do him wonders to read some of the well thought out posts on sites like this one. Basically he is against gun control but he does not have the background to make our case on the air, instead he most often will be critical of the leftism and leave out the counter-arguments that explain our side to the masses. Its unfortunate but the bulk of the right wing media are not southern and do not understand the conservative rual viewpoint. They are big city guys and they understand the left VERY well but are a bit out of touch with the republican base (kinda like our reps who tend to be big city rich guys who are out of touch).2 points

Exactly. I did not agree with much of what Yeager said in the video that caused his problem…I did not like or agree with how Kwick was conducting himself (in fact I believe he did a great disservice to all gun owners in Tennessee). However, neither did anything criminal…neither were ever charged with a crime at all. All Yeager did was speak out and what he said was not much different than I’ve seen in posts on this and many other forums. Moreover, his speech was essentially politically oriented speech and if one reads the writings of our founders I suspect you’ll find that they believed that political speech; especially unpopular/unwelcome/dissident political speech deserved 1st amendment protection more than any other type of speech! Bottom line is, were it not for the fact that we need our Tennessee Nanny’s permission to exercise our privilege here; none of what happened to Yeager or Kwick would have happened. I’m all for taking the right to arms away from those who are truly mentally incompetent and are a danger to themselves or others. But I’ll never be for doing so without due process. Unfortunately, this country hasn’t identified or treated the mentally ill they way they need to be treated for some 40 years and while I think we can all agree that the mentally ill should not have arms; we need to be very careful what we wish for less we end up in Tennessee with exactly what I happening in NY right now (for anyone who do not know that story you need to find out about it). I can agree that under our firearm privileges we currently have in Tennessee, what happened to Yeager or Kwick was to be expected and that they brought it on themselves. However, for those who may think that what happened to them was a “good†thing then I am forced to conclude that those folks really believe we should treat bearing arms as a privilege…that they believe it’s appropriate that we need the state’s permission to go armed in Tennessee and would be opposed to the concept of “Constitutional carryâ€. If that is what they believe then I find that pretty disappointing. :-\2 points

Just a suggestion for the powers that be on this, I think it would be cool if we could actually include TGO as part of the serial# Maybe something like like "1TGO*****" the 1 standing for first run. I'm sure there will be more if this is a success and it would be cool to have the whole set. Also I'd probably pay a little more to have my user name engraved somewhere on there. Then these can take the place of the challenge coins that we were talking about awhile back.2 points

I too am interested in how CNN can show such total disregard for the law. CNN knowingly violated both Federal law and the laws of three states. CNN Security is now in possession of multiple weapons that they were told were illegally transferred. As a Tennessee resident I would like to know if our state Attorney General gave them a free pass to violate our laws and then show those violations on TV. Why is the ATF not acting on the Federal violations? Did they give approval to do this? And yes, the sellers also broke the law if they sold to out of state residents. You are required to know that.2 points

I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly Sarti had no guns seized, and is not banned from owning guns. He did have his HCP suspended because of a psych evaluation; but we have no information on that other than what came from him. I watched Sarti’s videos. I watched him wave a gun around and ramble non-sense and I watched the video where he carried on about how you need to be prepared to kill children. He is a nut case. I’m not concerned about people like Sarti, Yeager, or Kwick losing their HCP’s. They were all attention seekers; they got what they wanted. Of course we are left to try to explain their stupid antics when people bring it up. When Sandy Hook occurred many of us were saying it wasn’t a gun issue, it’s a mental health issue; nut cases shouldn’t have access to guns. Then when people with mental issues get nailed, some get on here and start whining its gun control. That’s ridiculous. Someone that makes a video threating to kill people should not have an HCP. A Judge disagrees with me and that fine. Judges let people go all the time; but to say he was vindicated is not accurate. The state acted swiftly and did what they could; good for them.2 points

Yep, and there's a further irony involved there also. If we had constitutional permit-less carry in this state, Kwik's carry rights couldn't have been taken away, sans being convicted of something that would negate it under state law. And of course he was never even charged with a criminal offense, much less convicted of one. - OS2 points

If one wanted to go back and count I would suggest that they would find many hundreds of posts that in one way or another, complain about the fact that in Tennessee, we have to pay a fee and get "permission" to exercise our RIGHT to bear arms. I understand why that bothers people...it bothers me. However, it seems there are more than a few who are willing to stand up for that same process they love to hate when it takes a person's permission away just because of something he said. I wonder...if we believe that we shouldn't have to have "the system" in place to grant us permission in the first place shouldn't we be equally opposed to that system when it revokes an HCP without any due process beforehand? Perhaps it's just a reflection of society today that we would think what the state did was a good thing. I remember when I would go hunting either before or after school and have my shotgun in the trunk of my car...I remember when no one had to lock their guns in their safes; they were out...often loaded and kids didn't go around shooting each other or shoot up their schools. No we expel a kid if he eats the edges of his cookie until it resembles a pistol or he draws a picture of a pistol. I remember a time when we didn't take away a person's right(s) unless he actually DID (not just said) something to justify it and then only with due process...I guess we can't wait that long anymore...now we take the right away and make the man prove he is worthy of having his rights. Maybe that doesn't bother anyone but me. :-\2 points

The whole problem is still the batteries. People call electric cars "green" because they don't emit CO2. Ever looked into the manufacturing processes for the Li-ion batteries? They use some pretty nasty stuff. They're very difficult to recycle. They're very expensive. And as Boeing recently learned, they're not especially stable. The technology still has a long way to go before it's viable for the masses, IMO.2 points

I traded for this Glenfield 60 a couple of weeks ago. When I got it it wouldn’t cycle. Dismantled it and cleaned it. However to get to the innards I had to remove some expensive camo tape that was wrapped over the entire thing, stock, action, scope, rings, barrel and tube. Then I had remove several coats of tan paint that was used to paint the entire gun, scope also. I used the soda blaster to remove the paint from the barrel, action, trigger guard and press checkering on the stock. The Baking Soda removes finish but doesn’t harm the material underneath, nor does it “fix†scratches, dings, etc. in metal. It was great to clean out the checkering without harming the wood. I used standard stripper to remove the rest of the finish from the stock. The old recoil spring was kinked, a common issue with the Glenfield/Marlin 60. The front sight was missing. I ordered a new hammer spring, extractor springs and a recoil spring from Numrich. For finish I used what I had out in the garage. The stock got a couple of coats of Danish Oil (walnut) followed up with a couple of spray can coats of polyurethane. The metal got about 5 coats of flat black engine paint. Slapped on a spare 3x9 AO Simmons .22 Mag scope on it and I am ready. The Glenfield 60 is exactly the same action and barrel as the Marlin 60. The stock and sight were different for cost purposes, with the Glenfield sold at a discount vs the Marlin 60 through various major name stores. The Marlin/Glenfield is describe as sort of Swiss watch design. They work, have more springs and parts than their main rival, the 10/22. However, there are over 11 million Marlin 60s out there whatever the name vs about 5.8 million 1022s. DIP Products makes a nice trigger for the Marlin 60. I’ve put them in other 60s but haven’t decided what I am going to do with this one. I want to shoot it first. It may need the brass screw recrown procedure.1 point

I bought a Sawyer last year and used it for about 3 weeks worth of trips. I bought some Evernew water containers after reading about the Sawyer bag's durability issues on the Backpacking Light forums. Rest assured, the media, liberals, Hollywood and the elite still hate the American fighting forces, for which they stand and despise them. It's just currently popular opinion not to go against the tide at this time. It's well past the time to separate the wheat from the chaff in America. Oh shoot, we already done that, and the chaff is getting all the goodies from the backs of working productive Americans. I need to calm down!1 point

Here I was all nice and content reading some posts and the name "Jane Fonda" blurted out and slapped me in the kisser. Gee, thanks Roadkill for making my day and sparking my hate once again. Someone once said, "time heals all wounds"? Well, it's been 42 years for me and she's a festering sore that will never heal. I would really like to know what her father "Henry" thought about her deep down in his heart. Personally, I could care less what Hollywood, the rich and the professed elite do and say when it doesn't effect me and mine and my country. Perhaps some youngsters here don't know or remember the extent of her treason and the effects or our servicemen fighting so you could sleep well every night, and stop the spread of global communism sweeping the earth. Is anyone aware of the harsh, brutal, torturous and inhumane treatment our prisoners of war (POW'S) in Vietnam received, and the affect of her treasonous sympathetic appearance with the enemy in Hanoi, North Vietnam? How that played out with our POW'S and moral of our American fighting forces, then and thereafter? Had you or I done that very thing, what you think would happen? I don't like to carry hate in my heart, it's unhealthy and unproductive, I've never really "hated" anyone in my life time. Save Hanoi Jane Fonda, for which I have a burning desire that her life is a wreck, she dies destitute and slowly, impoverished, and an eternal line waiting to urinate on her final resting place. On the next installment, I might tell y'all how I really feel, stay tuned!1 point

Granted, the recent events of shootings and misconceptions SO MANY people have about guns just jumping off the counter and going off, killing people, we have had an uphill battle to fight to keep our 2nd Amendment right. However, how much more of idiotic events can we take? When my gun is not on my hip, its locked in a safe. Zero tolerance, and I dont even have kids in the house. But two shootings, within 2 days of each other, one here in Tennessee, http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/09/us/tennessee-gun-death/index.html and now this one http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/09/us/new-jersey-child-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 whats it going to come to? Eventually ignorance is going to hurt us badly. Yes, it's terrible these two people had to die, but both at the hands of a 4 year old? The NRA is doing a wonderful job fighting for our rights, and so are all of us, but people need to start keeping their guns locked up when not on their hip or not being used. I put this topic here in the carry forum because we deal with firearms daily. I just wanted to see how many of you lock up your firearm at the end of the day, and, like any responsible gun owner should do, make sure they are safe from the hands of someone who doesn't understand their lethality. God Bless those two who perished. But also bless those two children, for the weight they will carry in the future. And shame on those who left those guns in harms way. It only takes a second. Sometimes not even that long. Thank you1 point
