1. If everyone is this up in arms about ammo I dont want to see what it will be like when we are waiting in line for 1lb bags of rice when the wheels fall off this train.

  2. To you guys who are turning in people reselling ammo. Yes it sucks, yes it pisses me off. But remeber, if you ever bought a vehicle and wrote down any price other than what you paid, your guilty of it. If you ever bought or sold at a flea market or yead sale without paying taxes on the stuff, your guilty of it. If you sold a gun for a profit your guilty of it. Yes this stuff is silly and yes almost everyone here has done those things. That doesn't make them any more legal or ok than reselling ammo. Suck it up, call them on it if you must, but turning people into the goverment for petty shit is a slippery slope. Some of you guys would fit right in up in New York. They will pay you $500 to turn in your neighbor with an AR up there. Then a thread gets posted here about someone acting weird or calling the cops over a gun, or calling police on neighbors, etc everyone is in agreement that people and the goverement need to mind their own buisness. But obviously if something doesn't suit some of you guys your ready and willing to call the IRS in and possibly ruin their life. Glad I don't live next to you guys if we ever get New York legslation. I can actually trust my neighbors Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

  3. For $3,875 you better get a gun that loads and shoots all by itself producing .5 inch groups at 50 yards while you relax in a lounge chair sipping your favorite beverage. Or a GI museum piece.

  6. I'll probably end up buying the rifle since i make alot more and letting him use it on permanent loan since he'd feel bad and always want to pay me back for it if I just gave it to him, just to keep that thrill alive. Between him and my son they went through nearly $400 in ammo that day but they will never know that. It was worth it for my son to enjoy it and for me to break through someone's fears and watch them enjoy it. His fear dropped considerably after he seen i was right there and quick to jump in if something seemed off. I didn't yell like his uncle and dad did to him about it way back then, I calmly would show him how and calmly correct him as needed. Reactivate targets helped too lol

  7. Hey guys, I picked up a "new" Mosin on Sunday. I'm really stoked about it being my first WWII-type relic. Sure, I'd love to have a Garand but those are a little out of my price range. I think this 1942 Izzy is in really good shape. The bore looks great and it came with all the goodies. It may not matter to everybody, but all the numbers match right down to the buttplate. Curiously though, it isn't a laminated stock. It's just the 2 piece with the dovetail on the bottom piece. Do the stocks get replaced in the refurbishment process? After a little chamfering of the bolt rim, it locks right in and I sent 5 rounds through the yard. Just got done with the quality time with the Hoppes.

  8. Unless you're sitting in the parking lot or actually inside the Walmart the second someone posts an ammo sighting this thread is pretty much useless, except for bitching, and that's always fun.

  10. Occasional sales are not subject to sales tax, so yard sales and flea market sales are not taxable unless you do that on a routine basis as a business. Most yard sale items are also sold at a price significantly below the original purchase price, so no income tax issue there either. Some of the other points are valid, but I guess I am somewhat concerned by comments from several posters that imply that its not OK to inform authorities when you think laws are being violated (obviously it is not OK if you have a a professional/ethical obligation not to inform, but rather to disengage) . I understand that everyone hates to pay taxes, and much of that has to do with concerens about government waste and tax fairness, but intentional tax cheating isn't the answer. However, reporting someone as a possible tax cheat merely based on sales activity that annoys you without knowledge of their business practices or whether they are in fact failing to report income and pay taxes is probably not the best thing to do either. :2cents:

  12. I've just been turning in the larger resellers for suspected tax evasion. It only cost me a little time researching them online and a stamp for the envelope. Got one that I totalled up over $2k in online ammo sales in the last 3 months.

  15. I waited until someone else posted because your thinking is so alien to the way I see purchases. With that in mind, here is my take... 1. You don't get what you pay for when you are paying a lot more than the average price for an item. Usually, you are just paying for a name and bragging rights, in my opinion. 2. Your heirs won't care a fat rat's behind about how fancy your handgun is. They'll only care that it is something to connect them to you. 3. Who buys a gun to keep it forever? Geez, I'm old enough to not buy green bananas and I don't buy a gun with the intention of owning it for the rest of my life. Why not upgrade to another 1911, if you really feel a need to, and get something to make it really unique, like Marschal grips with your initials on them? Some fo these grips are really works of art. http://www.marschalgrips.com/hires/hires.html and http://www.marschalgrips.com/ If I had a spare $3895 to spend on a 1911, I'd buy a good 1911 and use the cash left over to buy a 15 year-old Harley Davidson Sportster for a holster.

  16. You guys are too rich for my blood. IMHO there is nothing like a hand smithed RIA Govt with adjustable sights and tigger. Buy the gun for $300-350. Stick another $50 in it and you're in business. And you will have money left over for ammo. Lp

  18. But if you have other valid forms of ID, ones that are specifically listed by the TSA as valid, why care that they don't accept a form of ID that isn't listed as valid and is subject to interpretation by a brain dead TSA employee? That's like getting mad at them for not knowing whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable... or mineral. Try to manage your expectations when dealing with those folks. They aren't known for their above average intelligence ya know.

  19. Better yet...just stop this thread. We all know ammo is in short supply, hard to find unless you spend hours of time and gallons of fuel searching, and no amount of bitching about it is going to change it. Rant off. I feel better now. Besides, I just bought a box of Golden Sabre230 HP at normal retail. And not at Walmart!

  25. From their website, last updated in December 2012. Seems odd that the HCP isn't acceptable since you had to undergo vetting for it to be issued and the requirements are more stringent than those for a driver's license. http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/acceptable-ids

  26. Obama's past is filled with the most active radical haters of free America and Marxist worshipers of the past 60 or 70 years. Many were teaching in our universities, including convicted bomber Bill Ayers. Even his preacher was a hater of America. Some of them are dead now. Obama is said to be a smart man, but I don't think he's smart enough to orchestrate all of the methods he's used to undermine our freedoms and of life in America. He's had a lot of guidance and help. I have been wondering for a while now, who is pulling his strings.....or what organization is guiding him toward their goals. I kinda think that information is tucked away with his college records and how he was able to pay for that Harvard education even though he'd never held a job.

  27. no mail Raoul. I understand the OP's buddy though. The ammo things is very discouraging. And the fact that no one can get 22's is the biggest shame. What good is it to buy a rifle you can't go and shoot?

  28. "I actually caught the ball" is quite accurately descriptive, if one would generally not expect or be expected to catch it. Same as saying, "against all the odds, I caught the ball", in fewer words. Like me saying, "I actually busted 5 clays in a row". ;) - OS

  30. A husband and wife had four boys. The odd part of it was that the older three had red hair, light skin, and were tall, while the youngest son had black hair, dark eyes, and was short. The father eventually took ill and was lying on his deathbed when he turned to his wife and said, "Honey, before I die, be totally honest with me - is our youngest son my child?" The wife replied, "I swear on everything that's holy that he is your son." With that, the husband peacefully passed away. The wife then muttered, "Thank God he didn't ask about the other three."

  31. What is the concern here? A really bad guy got shot and killed for threatening the lives of a bunch of people. And you want the good law abiding citizen charged? You have to remember the stand your ground laws we have here... You can chase after a suspect legally, you can even attempt to stop/detain/arrest them as long as you don't use deadly force... And if in the process of following/detaining/arresting the bad guy, you have a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury you're free to use deadly force. I can think of 100 different ways somebody could have such a reasonable free while following an armed robber, even if the shot that kills him lands in his back. And that sir is what we call reasonable doubt... Here we have a DA that not only knows the law, respects the fact he will have re-election problems if he goes about charging law abiding citizens who aren't bad guys for killing armed robbers and thugs in self defense. There is a lot wrong with the criminal justice system, but this isn't an example of it.

  34. Agree but that wasn't my point. Since the OP said it (HCP) had been accepted many times before I was just indicating that the HCP was, imho, better than a DL which is also issued separately state by state. I travel by air weekly and am not surprised at anything when it comes to the TSA (Thousands Standing Around). :-\

  36. As everyone else has said, pick and choose your friends carefully. There are lots of 'nice' people out there who would turn on you and shank you in a second for some extra cash. As for the rifle, I got my Romanian M44 for $150 off a bud. I know someone who might sell you a Chinese M53, they're the same thing, just a Chinese Variant. I think he wants $190 or so.

  37. Seriously? I see you all complain on here how the media is inaccurate and outright misleading and now you are taking a KNS (who have proven again and again they have an agenda) story at face value. How about reading a story with more detail from the time that had the DA office saying the evidence was showing there probably wouldn't be any charges: http://www.wate.com/story/21429981/robbery-suspect-shot-and-killed-by-dollar-general-store-manager-family-speaks-out We don't know the full story (mainly because in many cases it doesn't fit the media's progressive narrative), but it's fairly safe to assume that the guy did shoot in self defense and that's why he's not charged.

  38. Other than principle, why does it matter? Is there anyone who flies that only has a HCP and not a DL? Unless you're DL is broken I don't see the big deal. I also use my passport when flying, even if it's not int'l. I put my wallet, along with phone, keys and pocket litter into my carry on so that my pockets are empty with the exception of my passport when I go through security. It makes everything much easier to not be emptying your pockets as you get up to the scanner.

  39. "Panic buying" affects people in different ways. Those that aren't comfortable with firearms or are new to them can get spooked watching some of the current bad behavior that is not typical to the firearms community. Gun and ammo supply will soon catch up with demand and things will start to normalize once again. We all should remember that a man's character is not tested in the good times but the bad.

  40. The robber got what he had coming to him. While as carry permit holders we are not supposed to pursue a threat the DA is free to bring up charges as they see fit. If any of you think that this man should have charges brought against him I'd suggest you study up on the law, pass the bar exam and get hired on at the DA's office where you can make a different decision.
Until then, a man who had multiple other robberies (allegedly) on his rap sheet has been removed from the streets. Bad thing? I think not.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  44. I'll chime in as I have done this before also. Take a hair dryer to the emblem get them hot to the touch and pull or use plastic pry tools to remove. For larger emblems still use a hair dryer but you will need fishing line like 20lb test. After heating the emblem pull the fishing line under the emblem and work back and forth almost like a pocket saw. eventually you will have it loose enough to just pull off. There will still be adhesive left over. I'll second the 3m eraser wheel, they work like a charm. also a little goo gone or other clear coat safe adhesive remover will work with some elbow grease.

  48. Not by me you won't. Some people like to pay for the brand, but you, me and a lot of other folks are in the know. I use a high quality molybdenum Disulfate axle grease. Untold rounds, works like a charm. Then again for some folks that piece of mind is what people like paying for...glad that there are people like that.
