Found this by surfing the interwebs today ... Apparently TGODavid has been looking for a way to finance his retirement (and ammo purchases) since he charges us next to nothing (or actually nothing unless your a benefactor) to use this awesome forum/community he has set up. Well, I found out what he's been up to recently ... setting up a TGO Outlet store. I was curious about it, so I walked in to see what exactly is going on, and let me say, very interesting. His best idea is taking some of the funniest, most smarta$$ things we say on the forum, and screen printing them on t-shirts, coffee cups, mouse pads, Talon Glock gun grips, etc. As expected, he also has some TGO branded merchandise as well, including the TGO branded tacticool lighter (with laser scope); and rather unexpectedly, a slightly European style of men's swimwear. In the back room he also has a tattoo parlor set up. I'm not sure who this is, but apparently he's a regular on the forum that served as the first "model" for the tattoo artist ... Anyways ... He said he's going to make an announcement on the forum about it soon about opening dat, but I just couldn't wait! I did ask, and he said their most likely was NOT going to be a special discount for TGO members ... but if you brought him some nice whiskey he might give you a sticker.4 points

Let's be clear: This isn't about the right to carry arms, it's about you essentially wanting permission to carry them openly to enlighten people. This has nothing to do with a person's legal permission to carry a firearm openly as granted by the state of Tennessee so long as they have a Handgun Carry Permit. You can buy that permission from TDOS already. There's no need for me to fight for you to obtain the permission to do something you can already do. As has been stated, Tennessee does not recognize the Second Amendment as the only legal authority you need to carry a firearm on your person in this state. If you want to fight something, fight that. That being said, my handgun isn't a political podium. I don't carry it to make a political statement or to enlighten anyone. I carry it for my self defense, and I carry it in the means that provides me the most strategic advantage. If you want to carry yours openly and scare the sheep, just keep in mind that you run the risk of scaring them straight to the closest sign-maker to whip up another "SHALL NOT CARRY" posted location, or to the nearest politician who will promise them to make it all go away if they vote for them. Or you'll end up like this assclown: Whether you want to believe it, or like it, openly carrying does inspire a reaction and it may not always be the one you want. You will pass by dozens of people each day who may not say a word, but you've inspired a reaction with them and it likely won't be a positive one. You have no control over what someone else may think or do as a result of your choice to strap one on and walk around with it visible. And their reaction may not come in the form of a question or even a terse word to you on the spot. It may come later in the form of a ballot being cast against visibly displayed firearms for HCP owners (it's illegal to let your concealed weapon be seen in some states) or in the form of yet another retail store or restaurant being posted as anti-gun. I support your right to make dumb decisions. I just don't support your exercising that right when it harms my ability to exercise the same one a little more discretely.3 points

Keep in mind that the ability to make moonshine would likely be an invaluable skill in a SHTF scenario. Such spirits would have a myriad of uses. Probably more uses than a .22, anyhow. I have never made shine, myself, but my late father made and ran (yes, illegal) shine in his younger days. I had him describe the process of making shine to me, in detail, just because I was curious about 'how' one would do it. I think making good shine would take more knowledge, skill and sense than you might imagine. Having had 'good' shine - (from, um, independent distillers my dad knew of when I was younger) I can say that the homemade stuff can be a damn sight better than the mass produced 'moonshine' that is now on the market (although, being honest, some of that isn't bad.) And to think, I'm the one that was trying to be civil to you.2 points

Starship Troopers is an outstanding movie! It's one of those cinematic masterpieces that causes the channel surfing to stop. The goofy, over-the-top bravado and cheesy lines make it a classic. Plus Denise Richards is was hot.2 points

I'm not a boorish old codger. Im actually a young, handsome, 25 yr old suave SOB  . And I dont expect anyone to hang on to my everyword. But coming to an internet forum, asking a ridcuilous question with parameters geared towards feeling better about your choices, then cramming your fingers in your ears and humming when people with experience try to give you better options is dumb. You wanna see my honest opinion. You're an idiot troll whos only reason for being here is to stir shit up. You have already said your only firearm right now is a .22 lr target pistol, and theres nothing wrong with that. But you have the attitude that when your only tool is a hammer, every problem is a nail. Sadly one firearm doesnt fit every situation. So you can continue to ignore sound advice, or you can pull your head from your ass, look and listen, and maybe learn a thing or two. Now you can call me defensive, hotheaded, irate, and hypersensitive. In the end, I really dont give a rats ass if you carry a .22 lr as your main survival gun and end up as a bleached out pile of bones because you lacked the ballstics capability of killing that deer or defending yourself. But if your gonna ask, you can damn well expect an answer, at least from me. Tapatalk ate my spelling.2 points

You have just been a ray of sunshine since joining. I don't know your past involvement with law enforcement and really don't care. A weapon doesn't make a man so disarming cops isnt the answer. You do have the option of trying to get hired and change things to improve what you think is a poor image of your law enforcement.2 points

I don't mind sharing what I've learned & I have pretty thick skin so no worries, he (and anyone else) is welcome to come down & go hunting or fishing with me, so long as they have the proper license & don't act like a tard/jerkoff or drink/do drugs, we'd probably all have a good time, maybe learn something in the process. I learn new stuff all the time, the trick is to always keep an open mindset to new ideas/ways of doing stuff. Spot's is the man though, I'm just in awe of that dude & his dad, the stuff I could learn from those two would definately be invaluable.2 points

Depends. Do you like to sharpen, or do you just want sharp knives? If you dont care how they get sharp, but a 1 x 30 belt grinder from harbor freight. 120, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800 grit belte and a leather strop belt. I can make a butter knife shave in less than 5 minutes. Just take it easy and keep the blade cool to the touch using water Tapatalk ate my spelling.2 points

Don't kid yourself. When something goes bump in the night, you're barely going to be able to think straight enough to grab your gun, much less the light that mostly sits beside the gun, but gets used for other stuff around the house, too. A light is just like a gun. If you don't have it when you need it, you're not going to get a second chance. That's why my goto Glock 19 and my Kimber Warrior both wear X300s full time. If you're considering a light, consider a weapon mounted light. If you're thinking about going for one, save your pennies and get an x300 or x300u. They're worth it. As far as real tactical lights go, there's surefire and "kind of like a surefire." It's them vs. everyone else. I'm a light junkie. I've got all kinds of lights including some great cheap handhelds. But, there's no way I'm sticking one of those on my weapon. My life and my family's life is worth that consideration.1 point

In practical hunting situations using the right ammunition for the conditions, you will never see a real difference between the two. Were it me, I'd get the 308, but I have a couple of boxes of ammo laying around and no 308 rifle.1 point

While buying ammo at Wal-Mart tonight there was a sticker near the register that said "no guns allowed" over a gunbuster. I took it down. Not sure who put it there but it's clearly not Wal-Mart policy.1 point

So I am shopping at the West Nashville Wal Mart Sunday. I have my Kahr pm9 on my hip in a nice iwb holster. Then I notice a man with his wife and little girl oc'ing a full size P series Ruger. I just shook my head and thought, must be a Kwik fan. I can only imagine what some of the other customers thought. To each his own I guess but oc'ing is just not for me.1 point

Just a quick acknowledgment, quite a few of the iTunes Movie Bundles are on sale. Now, I don't want this to turn into a debate about iTunes vs BluRay, or iTunes vs Used DVD. I am simply letting you know that they are on sale more than I've ever seen most of these before. I admit, I pay more sometimes for some things on iTunes, but it is so nice it being in the iCloud and then being able to access it from my Apple TV/iOS Devices. Notably: Lord of the Rings Trilogy $10 Harry Potter (8 Films) $10 Matrix Trilogy $10 Lethal Weapon (4 Films) $10 Austin Powers (3 Films) $10 There are some others, but these are the ones that stuck out to me as being the best deals. Unfortunately I already had LOTR (purchased it on iTunes about a year ago for 500% what it is now). Purchased Harry Potter and The Matrix bundles. Thinking about Lethal Weapon, it's a good deal. I don't remember those movies (sorta "before my time") a bit, but I am interested in them. Austin Powers I'll probably pass on. Back to the Future and Jurassic Park are borderline, I love those collections but don't understand how you can offer all 8 Harry Potter films for $10 but then charge $20 each for Back to the Future and the Jurassic Park bundles. So what bundles are you buying, and why? Anything else I should purchase?1 point

If I had any need at all for such a shotgun the M4 is exactly what I would be buying. Alas, I have great HD shotgun (a Benelli Super Nova Tactical) which is perfect for its intended purpose. So, if I went out and bought the M4 it would simply be because I wanted one. Now, wanting one for a collection is a fine reason but there are other firearms out there I want first and until I win the lottery I have to do things as the $$$ permit. ;) That said, I'm something of and FNH affectionado and I'm sure their shotgun is an excellent weapon as well!1 point

I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to call mayor Taylor out along with the Maryville Times. I'm aghast that a town in east tennessee could elect such a man as Taylor; but it's happening in lots of places. Taylor is a typical "elitist" jackass who knows what's best for us "delightful rustics". He knows better than the Founding Fathers and the pioneers who settled this country what should be done. He is truly disgusting. Thanks again for all your work. leroy1 point

From what I understand, the ammunition makers are focusing on the manufacture of cartridges and (loaded ammo) and have put their reloading manufacture on slow to trickle. There is some out there, just not as much as you would like. All I know is we have to start looking out for each other. If I find some reloading supplies and ammo( cheap) I'll report it on here.1 point

Is she a working/hunting dog or just a pet? I'd say if she's just a pet keeping her leashed is probably your best bet, my labs are all working dogs though so I have to train them off-leash for them to be any use to me out in the field. Off-leash is tuff for a lab, they have a really high prey instinct along with very high energy, very tuff to maintain controll off-leash unless they are really well trained, you really have to work with them every day & not slack off at all, or they will sprint off & not come back until they are good & ready too. I've been working with my current chocolate lab for 2 years now, he's an awesome dog, very well trained both on-leash & off-leash, but off-leash training is an awful lot of work, they really want to "get that critter" and calling them off of one isn't easy, even as well trained & well behaved Bear (my chocolate lab) is, he will sometimes pretend he didn't hear me, that's when I have to put a little growl into my voice, which of course he hears LOL.1 point

Never a waste of time to view pics of a classic Colt 1911. Its a Government Model 1911 Commercial with a 1922 build serial number. Colt made about 5000 Commercial models that year. JMHO, but since it was your Great Grandfather's - - - I would find a way to NOT sell that pistol.1 point

Probably the 'reforms' will take a page from the TSA playbook and will simply mean frequently stopping and frisking non-minority 95 year old great grandmothers on walkers and non-minority three year olds in strollers so that when they stop the people most likely committing the crimes (probable gang-bangers and the like) they will be able to point to the granny stops as evidence that they aren't engaging in 'profiling'. The practice, however blatantly it violates the Constitution, will continue unabated. After all, as the anti-privacy rights mantra often says, "If you aren't doing anything wrong and have nothing to hide then why would you object?" (Yes, I think that idea is total BS.) Sorry, I am not naive optimistic enough to believe that this will stop the practice. They will simply broaden the scope of the type of citizen they harass in order to counter claims of discrimination.1 point

Lets take that last argument and break it down into pieces so that maybe youll understand more 1) your assuming the 11 year old girl would stay static while the officer was covering that 20 feet of distance. Lets be realistic that just aint happening. Also the cars traveling by are covering about 176 feet in that 1.5 seconds. Do you want to guess how far the average low beams illuminate on most cars. Ill give you a hint the numbers are real close. Take any good defensive class and they'll tell you that the tueller drills place is more academic than practical gunfighting, why because people can move. 2) Number 1 just disproved your "evidence" 3) your allowing your personal bias towards police officers to cloud your critical thinking skills. This next part is an assumption on my part but people tend to dismiss the good and zero in on the negative causing a slanted view of the people involved. 4) Even you have to see the fallacy in trying to use recorded complaints to state that the majority of officers are bad. For starters some of those complaints are BS. Also people tend not to call and say i would just like to tell you that i had a really good encounter with one of your officers they were highly professional. Again because people ignore the good and zero in on the bad 5) Your friends conspired to commit a violent forcible felony and you think this cop is the bad guy. Explains alot.1 point
-
Okay, I'll play this game. I never make assumptions either about gun owners, but 50% of them are trigger happy vigilantes. This is based on my experiences, of course, so I need no evidence to back this up. After all, most of my family owns firearms, so I know how those people are. Oh yeah, and half of all white people are racists too.1 point

Sounds to me like there is a common denominator in your equation. I've encountered bad cops before, but that was the exception, not the rule. You seem to be letting on that you have had many encounters with law enforcement and they were all poor. Based on your personality I can assume there is a reason for it. If you're a dick to a cop they have every right to be a dick back to you. I assume the reason they took a heavy hand is because you were being extremely cooperative and not being a belligerent ahole. I'd like to know what PD this was so I can send them a case of beer.1 point

What this amounts to is this "progressive" lackey, Taylor, only supports the parts of the Constitution he likes. The “I have a friend who is retired military. He said there is only one place assault rifles should be and that’s on the battlefield†statement is priceless. As if somehow his friend's military service gives his anti-Constitutional views extra credibility. I served in the military too but that doesn't make me a higher class of citizen. That tactic is pathetic and shameful. http://www.thedailytimes.com/Local_News/story/Maryville-Mayor-Tom-Taylor-joins-group-against-illegal-guns-id-0393741 point
