1. I really don't see that any of it matters. As long as we have a federal reserve continuing to pump completely worthless money into the economy and perhaps even having melted down and sold all the gold is supposed to have in safekeeping and an administration that continues to spend 45% more than it receives in taxes; this economy is going to have no choice but to collapse in on itself. Once that happens, tax rates and about 95% of the rest of the things we worry about going to be non issues - we'll all just be trying to survive.

 2. My oldest son killed this doe early this morning. It was at least a 250 yard shot, and it was dead right there. A good end to the season. My little one didn't want to get out of bed. Maybe next year.

 4. Well, yesterday was the excitement of the last youth season. I am fixin to tell you why :)   We got up this morning, the kids pumped and ready to go, and so was I. We ate protein bars and a banana each and hit the road. We spooked deer pulling in the driveway, sad for the adults, exciting for the kids. But it meant there were deer moving in the area, so I'll take it. We all get out, wish eachother luck and head to our spots. After sitting there from 5:40 till about 7:30, we hadn't seen anymore deer but heard a gunshot on the property next to us. The laughing begins now. My daughter says "Well, there go all the deer! They probably killed the last one!" LMAO! I said "Sugar, Daddy saw 15 of them the other day". To which she responded "WELL WHERE ARE THEY?!" Holy crap, she had me cracking up! I wasn't making a noise but my belly was shaking! About 8 she said she was freezing to death, that her whole body was frozen, and her feet didn't work anymore....again, more belly shaking from Daddy! We finally got down when I noticed she was literally shaking. We stalked a little while and headed back to the truck. My buddy and my nephew came out shortly thereafter and we headed home. We saw 5 deer on a neighboring property, 3 does, a big spike, and a nice 6 pointer. My daughter said "SHOOT IT DAD!" HA HA Wish I could have! Well, I love hunting, I love my daughter, and I love the experience and being able to share it with you guys here. I may have lost a pound or two laughing today, but dadgummit, what a day with my daughter!!!

 5. I've asked it over and over again on this and other forms; why in the world any parent allow his children to be in the public school system today? Get your children out of the public schools; do what you have to do, sell your house, sell your car Sell some guns whatever it takes - if you love your children get them out of the public schools. It's too late to try and change them (the schools), all you can do now is get your kids away from them.

 7. In addition to what JWC and the others have said which is correct.  Do yourself a favor and read the TWRA hunting manual cover to cover, it is available online at TWRA's website or you can pick up a hard copy for free just about anywhere that sells licenses.  I seem to constantly hear that you can or cannot do something hunting related that is completely false information.  Hunting laws are not mythological, they are written out in an easy to read and mostly easy to understand format.  There are several laws in this state that either don't make sense or are in place for a peculiar reason, and even things that a non hunter or new hunter wouldn't think of but may accidentally violate.  Game wardens generally don't have a very good sense of humor and are pretty big on the whole "ignorance of the law is no excuse" thing.

 12. Because I've been involved enough, long enough and had had enough person to person conversations with enough legislators to have a pretty good sense of what is and what isn't possible with the current makeup.   This horrid parking lot bill passed last year should be a clear indication that these people have NO intention of actually restoring our full 2A rights. Anyway, if you think I'm wrong then call your State Senator and State Representative and get them to introduce the bill...assuming you can even get them to do so see how far it gets.

 15. So I took my daughter's friend out hunting for the first time ever today. She was so excited to go and I was glad to take her. She wanted to go with me and my daughter in the morning but had other family plans. We got to the woods about 2 pm and climbed in the stand. About an hour and a half and saw nothing but squirrels. I turned to my left and 25 yards away in some thick brush. I nudged her and got the rifle in her hands and then the w....a....i....t....began. That doe didn't move for probably 6 or 7 minutes which seemed like 45 with me helping her hold the rifle up while whispering "stay still, don't move". My heart was thumping through my coveralls, I was so excited thinking that she could be only moments away from killing her first deer on her first hunting trip! It finally moved....2 steps...lol I was about to die and my arms were starting to shake. Not counting the fact that I was dipping and needed to spit something fierce but knew that was out of the question till this deal was done   So we wait, it moves a few more steps, and this process is repeated for almost a half hour. The wind was swirling but we had scent reducing showered and sprayed, so she smelled something but not enough to have her really freaked out, just cautious. The doe finally walked behind me and I had her stand up and was helping stabilize the rifle above me and knowing the sound was going to be loud when she shot, but worth it! Then the doe turned around and walked right back where she came from in the same method....HOLY HECK! It ended up never giving her a shot, but lemme tell ya, she was sooooooooooooo excited and what a way to start a new hunter, with excitement like that. Later she said "I really hate that I didn't take the shot when she was behind you". But not only did my left ear thank her, but I thanked her and commended her for being patient and not taking a shot that she wasn't sure of. Pretty SMART girl!  All in all, she said she can't wait till next year and wants to start with me during bow season. So now, I'm getting my daughter ready for the hunt in the morning, and a buddy of mine is sitting in his blind with my nephew to give him a chance to hunt for the first time! God, I love this stuff and thankful for your blessings! And I love to be able to share this with my TGO family!!!

 22. That's the whole point of taking the first shot at 15 yards.  There is no need to pull the bolt and the shot will almost always be on paper at that range with the windage and elevation adjustments in the middle.  From there complete your steps 4 and 5 and you are good to go.

We may someday have a civil war but it sure won’t involve the “Yankees” and “Rebels” it will be economic and will know no state lines.

 26. More 44mag than .357, .357 models bring ~1k or so if they're pristine. 44mag is more common, prices range 500-750, sometimes more, but not usually. Centennial editions, and box/paperwork are all bumps in price as well. These were made by Miroku for Browning.   I paid 440 for one a year and a half ago, but it's because the seller and I are friends. I've had offers north of 600 to buy it, but have passed on all. It's just too much fun to shoot. It will be one of the last I sell, if I ever have to.

 29. My biggest issue with Lone Wolf is their back order practices. If you order from them and the barrel is on back order, don't believe the expected arrival dates, they will change the dates multiple times and not communicate with customers when that happens. They need to take some lessons on customer service from Midway. Anyway, I ordered a 9mm barrel for my G23, and it took over 6 months to get it after 4 changes to the expected delivery dates on their website and not one single communication from them during that time. Moral of the story is don't buy anything from them that is not currently in stock.

 31. Three years ago, It took me a good three months of searching to find my current truck.    I knew I wanted a full size truck with a V-8, extended cab, automatic, tow package, power windows and lock, A/C, less than 100,000 miles, and not a penny over $8,000 cash.    This is when I quickly realized people never stayed home. I can't tell you how many trucks I looked at (even 3-4 year old trucks) 150K-200K+ miles on them. I also realized that cash wasn't king when buying a used truck. It wasn't easy to find someone who was willing to negotiate on the price.   I finally found a 2002 Ford F150 with everything I was looking for, except the dealer wanted $9200. It had only 90,000 miles on it, so I decided to check it out. After some haggling, we agreed on $8300 out the door. I went $300 over budget, but after three months, it was a small price to pay.

 32. I disagree. You have to communicate with your kids. Whether they go to a public school, or private school they will get information you do not agree with. The thought of some of the people I know that have said they were going to home school is far scarier than the school system; these kids don’t have a chance. Don’t make you kids pay the price for you being upset with some political belief the school has or how they feel about issues like guns. I remember when I heard my step son and his friends talking about a traffic stop and one of them said “The Police need a warrant to search your car.” Now… usually I stay out of their discussions, but I felt they deserved to have the proper information so those dumb azz words would not pass their lips on a traffic stop. When I asked who told them that they said one of their teachers and another kid said his Dad told him the same thing. I didn’t tell them both the teacher and the Dad are dumb azzes and should stick to what they know, so we had a discussion about traffic stops. I think they understood better than their teacher, or the uniformed parent. You know the teachers, no matter whether public or private, put their own spin on history. So you have talks with your kids about what they are learning. This is just my opinion, but I believe home schooling should be outlawed. Most of those kids will be left behind not only in their education but also in their social skills. When that happens will the parents accept the blame? Of course they won’t, they will blame the schools, the government and anyone they can find to blame.

 33. Robert,   I agree with you but where do you send your kids?  If you're not religious or your church doesn't have/run a school your options are very limited...    While TN has homeschooling laws, it only involves 2 methods....  The first is controlled by the local school district which is as bad as putting your kids in public schools...     The second is to 'register' with a church related school...  You're completely out of luck with this method if you're not an Evangelical or Catholic...  there are no 'certified' schools in the Jewish faith, let alone any other faiths approved by the state.  And no way to use this non-government method of homeschooling if you're not religious.   The fact is you're options are very limited to pull your child out of public school altogether...  And this is another area of freedom where we should work to restore more freedoms to parents.

 34. Just curious as to why we don't have a "Free Classifieds" sections that are available to non-benefactors? I understand not allowing non-benefactors posting privileges to the other classifieds, but sometimes I have stuff that I need to get rid of that I am willing to give away. It would be nice to be able to post these freebies in the classifieds for the member here to take advantage of.   Just a suggestion, as I'm still happy and understand the work involved in keeping these forums spam-free and running properly.

 38. There is no need to go through that much ammo to sight in a scope.  Set the dials on the scope dead in the middle and shoot at a target at around 15 yards.  You should be on the paper. Get your windage close then move out to 50 yards and set your elevation.  Move out to where you want the rifle zeroed at and make your final adjustments.  I've used as little as 2 rounds to sight a new scope in before.

 47.   It will reach our state eventually. We already see tons of liberals influencing our state. At some point we will see the tide turn enough that our guns will be seriously threatened. We have way too many who want something for nothing for our state to not become a liberal stronghold. Stand in Walmart or any other major grocery store after the first of the month and watch the EBT cards fly. And every single one of those will vote democrat as long as they continue to get their cupcakes, coffee, sirloins and lobsters tail for free. And along with those votes for free food comes votes against our guns.   I have said it 90% of gun owners would turn their guns in. 7% would hide their guns away and 3% would actively fight. Problem is the 90% would readily rat out the other 10%.   People might think I am awful but all those "assistance" or "benefit" programs should go away. And if they can't feed their children then they should do the right thing and turn them over to someone who can. I can guarantee that 90% of the items I see getting bought are not for the kids and if they are then the parents should not be parents. Using most of the EBT money for what I have seen just tells me they are as not bad off as they make people think. I know if I was in dire need, and I have been, I would not waste money on lobster because that is a lot of beans and rice.   There should be a lifetime limit on assistance because everyone hits hard times from time to time. Make the lifetime limit 3 years. If you choose to use it from 18-21 then you are done for life. If at age 30 you hit hard times and your benefits have already been used you better have family or friends to take care of you. If you don't then you either starve or work. Too many people think they are too good to work, no wonder when the government is giving them everything. Hunger can be a powerful motivator and I bet those who are starving would gladly work for a few hamburgers a day.   I bet people in the states that have constitutional carry are saying that they can't believe people in Tennessee don't stand up and willingly pay for their right to carry a firearm.

 48.   Yep. The other barrel. I had a 223 rifle configured for long range, and decided to part it out. Since I had the second set of receivers and most of the barrel parts, I only had to get a handguard, barrel heat sink, gas tube, and the upper receiver parts. It will be a helluva rifle too. It will look more like a JP rifle. I also have an EGW bag rider, so I plan to use this one with my Rock BR front rest, and Protektor rear bag. I have a Larue mount showing up on Monday, so I'll actually be able to share the scope between the two rifles, or use one of my cheesy long range scopes. I just hope I can share loads between the two rifles.
