1. I would shoot it down and say it was spying on my kids. Let them come and put me in jail or take me to court. Bet I don't lose a dime. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 2. RC aircraft flying in my neighborhood? Don't care. RC aircraft flying over my house? Don't care. RC aircraft outfitted with camera loitering over my property, clearly taking video? This equals peeping Tom, and an active violation of my kids' right to privacy. The next obvious step is to shoot it down. I don't care what any cop, judge, jury, congressman, president, lawyer or Internet person has to say. You use video equipment to exploit my family and I will destroy it immediately. That simple. I don't care the repercussions. That isn't the damn point here. You can damn sure bet if I found some pervert outside my house peeping in with binoculars it would be a much greater crime than vandalism I'd be committing, and somehow I'd be just peachy with that. 3.
I doubt that felony vandalism and discharging a firearm charge would end well for anyone; so much for your HCP. I’d hate to be a kid with an RC helicopter or plane in you guys neighborhood.
Felony vandalism is pretty steep. I'd like to meet the DA who charges someone with felony vandalism while someone is flying a video recorder over a house with young kids. That would be less wise than shooting down some peeping Tom's flying camera. Either way, I'm okay with that. I'm not kidding when I say I'd shoot it down. If I have to explain that to a jury I'm certain I can articulate that I acted reasonably, as a father preventing the exploitation of his kids. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 5. I have owned or still do just about very configuration of the small Smiths.  Most people think the lightweight scandium, titanium, and alloy ones are the ones to own.  While individual mileage may vary the lightweights recoil a lot, I mean a lot.  The all steel 36, 60, 49, and such normally only weigh a little bit more but it helps so much with recoil.  I bet if you were to let your lady shoot an older 38spl 649 and then shoot a 638, she would pick the all steel, especially since she won't be carrying it.  Everyone recommends 5 shot snub nose for women but generally they are a terrible choice for a new shooter.  The 638 is what is called a bodyguard configuration 38/49/638/649, in my opinion it eliminates the best qualities of the chief series 36/37/60/360and eliminates the best qualities of the Centennial 40/42/340/342/442/642/640/940.  People that have never owned a j frame think the exact opposite is true.  Even though there is not an instance where cocking the hammer would be needed in self-defense, with a bodyguard, I don't think in a high stress situation you would be able to do it.  Also the bodyguards tend to collect all kinds of crap in the opening. That opening is a funnel for water to enter into the mechanism, a lot of old cops that wore these in pockets or on ankles would have non functioning guns a month or two after standing in the rain during investigations.  With the Chiefs Special the spur can actually add some retention, if someone tries to pull the gun from a pocket it snags.  When you go to retrieve it, place your thumb on the hammer and you can pull it right out.  Also most retention holsters are made for the spur, but will work with the centennials. You either have to modify a thumb strap  holster for a bodyguard or get the type that goes over the trigger guard.   The Centennials or hammerless as they are called are probably the best, very low maintenance and not much to stop them.  I foolishly let the cream of the crop, a 640-no dash, out of my collection a year ago.  At 20oz it was a dream to carry and even more of a dream to shoot.  Prior to that I had carried an old 642, fine gun but it was like having dynamite go off in your hand with any ammo worth a flip.

 8. I wouldn't use that for its intended purpose unless you get some formal training. A bit more complicated than running an IV. Well, not exactly more complicated, but a lot more you can do wrong. The bright side is that, unless you're on the battlefields of Afghanistan, the knowledge of how to treat a tension pneumothorax with a needle decompression is pretty pointless. You'll never be that far from care to require it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 9.
Folks can fight this technology all they want; but it is going to happen. The FAA has already authorized drone testing and when technology companies chomping at the bit to use this technology and open new markets; I’m sure Congress will be pressured to speed the FAA up. It will open up new markets with tens of thousands (if not more) jobs waiting. That’s a big incentive. There are already laws banning the neighborhood pervert from looking in your windows with his UAV. And with everything on video; it’s pretty easy to enforce. We shouldn’t miss out on this technology because someone can abuse it any more than our guns should be banned because someone walked into a school and shot a bunch of kids. http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/31/tech/innovation/beer-drone-faa/
No, it isn't easy to prove squat. If this drone is just relaying the video feed to a remote control it may or may not be recording anything. In fact, what do you think the first thing a perv is going to do if they suspect they're getting approached by law enforcement? Delete. And you can be sure if their video goes to a memory card of some kind that will be encrypted and hidden where no simple beat cop or local computer forensic guy would ever have hope of finding, let alone decrypting. You seem to think pervs are all stupid and wouldn't have a cover for action. They, like most criminals think their crimes through, especially if they spent the cash on a hovering video drone. Looking at roof tops for future solicitation sounds like a great cover for action. This isn't about fighting technology, this is about violation of privacy by perverts and peeping Toms. I could care less about drones and RC aircraft. I'm just not going to have someone's camera flying around my property taking video of my wife and kids. Ain't happening ever, ever. It ain't about owning the airspace above my property. It ain't about trespassing. It ain't about just disliking technology. Anyone with a wife and young kids can understand that. 11. A lot of what you say is right Dave. But when he violates my privacy with his drone that's another matter, and has nothing to do with being X or current LEO or, my HCP. I'll take my chances! Sorry...It's no difference if a lot of folks shoot the neighbors dog or cat that comes in their yard, drones are no different. Yes it's against the law.....sometimes the law must be broken to get a message across.   Remember, as with all laws, when you break them, you have "Intent" and "letter of the law". Where would blowing a peeping drone out of the air fall? As far as I know (local, state and federal game laws) it's not illegal to shoot a drone on your property. I guess now new laws have to be written. I most likely would never cuff anyone for shooting a drone on their own property. However, I would advise the idiot that lost his drone that since you were flying it on someone else's property, that I would consider it a "civil matter" or he could go the prosecutors office and file charges depending what I was advised by a supervisor to do. But cuffing someone? Not likely!   PS: You keep talking about LE looking at the video. Unless his laptop is recording it, there will not be enough left of his drone to recover the video. Just the way it is!   Dave

 15. Well, I have or had a neighbor that also flies a Helicopter around the neighborhood here and several folks have expressed a concern over it but and a few have called the cops but by the time they arrive the chopper is already back home. My next door neighbor made a video of the helicopter cruising around his house and even in his yard. Last time the police arrived they got to view the video and asked if they could have it and he said no but handed them a dubbed copy of the video and said but you can have this one and he told the officers that next time it showed up at his house his 12 gauge would be putting it down. The police told him they would not recommend that because he could be arrested for discharging a firearm inside city limits without just cause meaning life in danger reason. They took the video back to the station and actually obtained a warrant against the owner of the toy and served it on him on invasion of Privacy, disturbing the peace and Trespassing on private property. The LEO's did a back ground check on the guy before seeking the warrant and found out this was the 4th time a complaint of a similar type had been filed against this guy. 3 of them at his former residence location. It was why he moved from Hendersonville to Gallatin. He lost his toy and the judge told him he could not have it back, fined him $500.00 and told him he was never to won another type of device or next time he would do jail time. About a month ago the guy moved to parts unknown..........

 16.
Would be a risky move to say the least,if a person is flying fpv it would be extremely easy to prove he was innocent of any wrong doing since they are recording and could easily prove he was not spying(if he wasnt) add to that all units are equipped with gps and it makes it rather easy to find the location in which it went down and if you were caught or admit to destroying the quad you could easily be out of pocket for thousands just for the drone then throw in the legal fees and what not. I have family that owns several hundred acres with a big creek running right through the middle of their property, anyone can apparently come down the creek as they please and not be trespassing as long as they are in the water from what we've been told. I can imagine if they dont own the water that flows through their land you dont own the airspace above your property. I know FPV is a growing hobby, and is also being implemented by realtors as well to get images and videos of properties they are selling that couldnt be achieved any other way. Not saying I agree with it or dont,I just wouldnt shoot it down unless I was seriously concerned that the person operating it is infact up to no good and am confident enough that Im willing to bet several thousand dollars on it.
I'm okay with that. I don't need to ask a person what their intentions are if they're sitting in a parked car outside my house, looking through the windows with binoculars. Perhaps their intentions are pure, but I'm not taking the time to find that out; I'm just gonna make it stop. Same with a peeping Tom with a camera... even worse when you think about it. I don't know what he is recording, I just know he is over my property taking photos in an area I have a reasonable expectation of privacy for myself and my kids. Good luck finding 12 people who all agree I didn't act reasonably considering the circumstances. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 21. I don't care what the testimony was, if I was a juror they couldn't beat a guilty verdict out of me. This would be like selling rubbers to hookers. Who cares what they're gonna do with it? Not my business. Or how about someone that buys 30 cans of whipped cream? Seems suspicious like they might be using it for the nitrous oxide, but who's business is that? Maybe they're hosting a kid's party and need lots of topping. Maybe they're having an whipped cream orgy. Who cares? How does that make a business liable if they're going home and huffing nitrous. As for this case, maybe the shop owner thought they were extreme preppers. It doesn't matter anyway since he didnt make the drugs and had no intent to help make them. Stupid stupid stupid times we live in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 25. I can't believe someone hasn't sold tickets to a pirate hunting cruise yet. Can you imagine, a boat full of skinnies moving in on what looks like a normal cruise ship or cargo ship, but 100 lucky ticket buyers pop up over the deck rail with ARs, sniper rifles, and such. Call me what you will, but I'd buy a ticket...just saying. After about a dozen successful cruises, the would-be pirates would trade their AKs for fishing poles to make a safe and an honest living.

 32. I don’t own foreign guns (other than military collectables); haven’t owned one in over 25 years. But it appears that Berretta is actually going to be manufacturing guns here instead of importing them in, assembling them, and calling it American made. I might be able to justify this to myself on the manufacturing jobs it brings to the area alone. Since they said the new rifle they make will be illegal in the state where it is manufactured; is it safe to assume that is what they will be making here?

 34. Kinda like this? The bench on the right, by the window, i use to work on guns. The small bench beside it I use for .45-50 reloading. I keep an old separate Lee single stage press for bullet pulling and recapping. I have 7 removable heads with dies mounted for most of my reloading chores. 9mm, .45acp, .45 scholfield, .45LC, .308, .30-06, and 6.5-06. If you look at that old desk, it's made of laminated MDF, built 20 years ago and weighs 150 lbs. I have it one wheels. In fact, everything I have expect the .45-70 table is one wheels. I will be putting that on wheels, also. I have a couple of long workbenches, one steel, one wood, in the garage along with a couple of wheel mounted tool boxes, one for a milling machine. The second for a drill press. I also have an electric powered hack saw on wheels. I cal roll all of my shop equipment out to use and back to store. My 6" Atlas metal lathe is fixed to a 3rd bench. 35. The reasoning behind using an account in the name if the trust is so there is no question that your NFA item has always been in the name of the trust. Whoever prepared your trust should be able to provide you with a certification of your trust that the bank should accept. Even if it's not required to have a trust account to e-file, I think it's the best practice.

I have Stanley plans for a heavy duty workbench - 4x4 legs, 1-1/2 inch thick top.  Assembles with carriage bolts and can be disassembled for transport.  I've built 3 and I brought one with me when I moved.  Let me know if you want the plans.   If you want to be able to disassemble the bench, don't use glue in the leg/stretcher joints.  Anything you glue together ain't coming apart later.

 38. As long as China has the "Most Favored Nation" trading status, not much will change in the way of job creation. We need to tax/tarrif the attraction off the imports so that manufacturing will remain at home, then the playing field would be leveled and people of every ethnic flavor could get the jobs that "Made in the USA" creates.

 41. Well I spent about an hour working on the settings and I finally got it about as good as it is going to get. I will only say one word about it now, amazing. Without illumination I can trees against the black sky. WIth illumination I can clearly see everything within 50 yards, maybe farther because I am limited in how much dark I have. I am using a cheap Chinese IR bulb for my Surefire Nitrolon. Now I am on the hunt for a much stronger IR illuminator.   I didn't have the correct rings to mount it on my 22 but they are on the way. Once I get those I will mount it on my 22, which is suppressed, and do some night time shooting.   I am rarely amazed but I have been amazed by two things in the last year. One is the powder coating and now it is this setup. It is as good as any video I have seen using digital night vision.   Anyone who has been to my house before is more than welcome to come out and check it out. Just make sure you let me know before you show up.

Seems to me that these guys are just your run of the mill ornery old farts.  We all know the kind.  They know everything, they are always right, they are experts on everything guns included, they can do things that they balk at anyone else for doing.  Most have plenty of money, more than they will ever spend but they seem to get some kind of thrill out of making a few bucks on this ammo just because they can.  Ammo scalping gets them out of the house and away from their nagging wives for a few hours.  Let's buy these geezers some golf clubs and one way tickets to Florida and we can have our ammo back!

 48. Mike:__________ RE: Bore Snake Cleaning: Take a quart glass jar with a lid, add some diswashing detergent( 2 or 3 drops) and warm water. Fill about half full and put the dirty snake in; then shake. Do it a couple more times. The sudsy water will will start out dirty and get clearer. Then rinse with warm water, squeeze the snake, then hang up to dry. Works like a charm. RE: Jess -- Cleaning Rod: Spend the big bucks and buy a one piece Dewey. (PS: I'm sure the Tipton one piece are good too-- just more modern materials.) They cant be beat. While you are at it; buy a bore guide or muzzle guard for each rifle you clean.
