I took one of the TGO stickers I brought and put it on this tag. It almost lined up perfect but had to use some white paint on the very edge. I am not big on putting bumper stickers of any kind on my vehicles but putting them on a removable part isn't bad.6 points

When they piss me off enough times....... A gun isn't some sacred thing, it's just a tool. When it refuses to function in a manner that satisfies me, I sell it, trade it or depending on the severity of the infraction, I whoop it against the Bradford pear tree in the side yard. Which ever brings me the most joy. In the end, that's all life is, the experiences. You can't take any of this crap with you. I ain't clingin' on to nothing that doesn't have some use to it. Even told my wife that :stir: Having a bunch of guns doesn't interest me anymore. I have a lot more respect for the man who has one rifle and learns to use it well than someone whose closet looks like the NRA museum. Great to be an American ain't it!?!? We still get that luxury; trying to do what makes us happy.5 points
I don't know. I don't hear about gangsters and thugs having too many ADs and they carry all the time, often with poor, incorrect fitting or no holste at all. If they can do it, I'm willing to bet most anyone with the desire and ability to carry a gun openly will be fine, and again it would seem statistics would back this up as we're not talking about anything new. Hope it all goes through.
Yeah, we can anecdotally trade stories about untrained carriers having NDs and such, but we could also tell stories of police officers and highly trained military personnel having NDs. I have some stories. Many folks here have some too. We chalk those stories up to stupid people existing in all walks of life. Stupid people will carry guns too. Funny, the same reasons gun owners take issue with constitutional carry are the same reasons anti-gunners don't want folks to have guns in the first place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

I absolutely love me some cajun and creole food. So, I'm always on the lookout for some good jambalaya, etouffee, gumbo, and red beans & rice. I tried Razz'z in Smyrna this evening and all I can say is dayuuum! He's got this plate called the Tour of New Orleans that comes with Jambalya, Étouffée, and Gumbo with garlic bread. The jambalaya was spot-on. The étouffée was the best I ever put in my mouth. I think I make a mean pot of gumbo, but his puts mine to shame. How many places do you go nowadays where the owner/chef himself greets you at the door and says hi? Plus, he's a TGO forum member!2 points

Today, the staff of TGO did something that we very rarely do. We banned a handful of members - and by an handful, I mean five members plus one special case. While one can certainly read into the changes to the forum structure this week and David's admonition to "be nice or be gone", I thought I would share our reasoning with you guys in some detail so that no one is left guessing and out intentions will be clear. In short, this community is something that we're very passionate about protecting. And, community is a delicate thing sometimes. We like to believe that TGO is a place where we can discuss big topics, and I honestly believe that it is. We ask our members to abide by the Code of Conduct we've put forth, and for the large part everyone complies. I have to commend our members, because you guys actually do such a phenomenal job policing the board that moderators rarely have to get involved at all. If you've been involved in more than one or two forums over the years, you probably realize what a rarity that is. But, of late we've sensed a change. We've had a few members who have just had the effect of turning threads sour. Many of you are probably like me and are quite capable of reading viewpoints you don't agree with and simply dismissing them. You need some pretty thick skin on the internet, and we've got some fairly mature personalities on TGO. Yet, when a person keeps being presented with negative arguments, while you may be able to dismiss them, you find yourself distancing yourself from the source. We realized as a staff this week, that TGO was becoming a place that weren't enjoying hanging out as much. That's when we realized that we needed to take some action. I expected that we would end up booting a few dozen people. When you grow from a few thousand people where we were a few years ago to over 21,000 people today, you're going to have some bad apples get mixed in. I was wrong in my expectation. I was actually quite surprised to see how few voices it takes to turn something completely sour. I want to be very clear that this isn't an exercise as some have opined, in political correctness. Those of you who know David or I personally know that we're about the farthest thing you'll get from politically correct. This isn't a case about tolerance; rather it's one of over indulgence. A few members have taken advantage of the graces of this forum, and we're not going to sit idly by and let that happen. We made the changes to the way the political forum shows up so that you actually have to go and seek it out to participate. We welcome the conversations, but it was becoming overpowering. At one point a couple of weeks ago out of 20 threads on the "new content" page, 18 were political in nature. If you hit the "New Content" button now, you might notice that it actually looks like we're running a gun forum again. I welcome the change. Several of you sent either David or I notes this week following David's call for guilty consciences. I want to thank each of you who did that, and let you each know that not a one of you we're on our list of people who were abusing the forum. I would ask that each of you consider your tone in posting. There's a time for hyperbole. There's a time for strong rhetoric. Consider those times carefully. I would ask each of our members to be mindful of your tone. In this modern time of zero sum politics where what's good for one party must necessarily be bad for the other party, it's easy to become polarized ourselves. But, I'd ask you to consider guns as a bit of a special case. With over 300,000,000 guns in this country, guns aren't a republican/democrat thing. They're an American thing. With 20,000 members, I expect we've got people of at least slightly different flavors of politic. But, each of them joined this forum because they like guns. Please watch your voices and consider your rhetoric. Let's not make enemies where we don't have to. We are going to be watching things carefully in the coming months. Please help us out, as the staff doesn't see every thread that's posted. We really do value our membership here and the community that has formed. Many of you, if you're like me have made new and lasting friends as a part of this board. I look forward to meeting more of our members and will seek to do so in the coming months. Thanks for all of your help! Mac2 points

Two separate issues here; some claiming the right to carry under the 2nd amendment and some saying training should be required for open carry or that untrained people carrying bothers them. Some of you get pretty torn up when Judges legislate from the bench (they get to do that because the laws aren’t clear) or you don’t agree with the SCOTUS decisions. Requiring training to carry is the same thing, that is if you are making a "rights" argument. I support that anyone should be able to carry open or concealed whether they have training or not; it’s a right. I just don’t believe that right comes from the 2nd amendment. As long as we are discussing “open carry†it’s not a rights issue anymore and the state can put whatever training requirements they want on it.2 points

I've got a 10 yr old American Bulldog, who is the love of my life. I can only count on one hand the number of humans I love as much as I love her. As Sour Kraut says, they make awesome pets. They are so gentle, especially with kids and loving to a fault. Mine got up to 100 lbs at her fittest/most muscular point when she was young and she still thought she was a lap dog. Absolutely precious animals. Not sure how much you know about AB's but they are very athletic dogs. I think you'll be very happy with him as a jogging partner. I never tried jogging with my AB, because I am predisposed with a genetic condition that renders me incapable of jogging. My father referred to it as Fatguyitis, but I've also heard the condition called Lazyassitis.2 points

Yes. Scenario 1: Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.. 1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack. 2013 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers. Scenario 2: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school. 1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies. 2013 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it. They are also required to attend six weeks of anger management therapy. Scenario 3: Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students. 1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again. 2013 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability. Scenario 4: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt. 1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.. 2013 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Scenario 5: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school. 1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock. 2013 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons. Scenario 6: Pedro fails high school English. 1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college. 2013 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot read & write English. Scenario 7: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed. 1957 - Ants die. 2013 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents - and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Scenario 8: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him. 1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing. 2013 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.1 point

I have been fortunate, I have not sold any of my personal guns ever. I learned early in life, too many old farts said they wished they hadn't traded something away, or sold something because the funds were short. I have always purchased wisely, and none in vein. I also take the gun trace pretty seriously, and I have no control if I sold something regardless how much paperwork I have when I made the transaction. Anyway, after 35+ years of having been given my first guns as a boy, and then when old enough, buying guns for myself, you can imagine what the small little collection that I may have. I did go 10 years without buying a gun, it occurred after I sold my FFL business, totally gun burn out! Then 10 years later, talk about a pinned up demand, wow, is all I can say.1 point

It doesn't really work for that very well unless you also some kind of malformed arm. Really have to do a gansta tilt to get sights over into line with eye. However, it's wonderful fired from the shoulder, comfort level on par with a stock, especially with an extended buffer tube, and of course immensely more stable for accuracy than stretching it out on a sling. - OS1 point

Thanks much. Didn't start out like it was gonna be a successful hunt. Soon as I hit the woods, had to answer natures call and spooked one off roost. Trekked on to my favorite spot. Then when I loaded shells my spring jammed. Tried to take it apart to repair and spring shot into the dark sky relegating me to a single shot pump. Get set up to call and realize my front sight was AWOL. It's a miracle that I connected. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Honestly the class is heavily dependent upon the instructor. I had a close family friend who hadn't hardly ever touched a gun go take her HCP course upon my recommendation ( ) - however, upon coming out she had the idea that she was allowed to carry at the school that she worked at... I politely tried to inform her of the class E felony of which she would be committing but was greeted with the - "I have my HCP and took the 8 hour class, so I think I know..." I've met MANY people with this attitude who have taken the TN HCP courses and come out with a piss poor knowledge of TN Carry/Firearm laws, and refuse to listen to others because of what their instructor said. Reading and researching the law yourself will never be replaced by 4 hours of classroom talk. I don't think we should kid ourselves and think that the current HCP courses gives a "great" education in TN Firearms law, but allows pretty much anybody with a pulse to pass through and get a permit.1 point

Load to what functions and what is accurate. Those who try to load to max FPS are often rewarded with miserable accuracy. With that being said a 55 grain load should be north of 3,000 fps.1 point

I've had a BT380 for a decade and I've had zero issues with it other than a front sight that blew off after 17 rounds (easily fixed). If you can find one in the configuration you want, that's great. If you can't, don't hesitate to get any of the finish combinations. Mine had been 100% reliable with well over 2000 rounds fired. I paid $179 new and will never get rid of this gun.1 point

This. The speculators discovered in 2001 that they could sell it for whatever price they wanted and the public would still buy it... and the public buys more when the price goes up.1 point

I've joked repeatedly that Sig must have an entire department devoted to giving the ATF the finger. I'm not sure it's a joke anymore. I am seriously getting the impression that Sig has a hardon for the NFA and is going after the idiocy of the ATF's rulings pretty much full bore. When I refer to their clanking balls, I mean it. Sig is showing a hell of a lot more testicular fortitude than the NRA, GOA, SAF and other so called gun rights organizations by directly attacking the NFA. I got nothing but love for them and pray they have continued success against the ATF.1 point

LOL, well most of what you see in the red was at 5 yards and I was moving the target back every 10 rounds 2 yards at a time to see how well the new out of the box gun was working. It showed me that the farther out it got the more the sight was shooting left. I did some adjusting on the rear sight and put up a new target and was able to shoot better center mass more consistently as I moved the target out to the 15 yard area but I can't find it but when I do I will put it up. I don't really plan on needed to shoot anything at 15 yards but just nice to know if I needed to I could. I was so impressed at the accuracy of the Bersa 380 at 15 yards that I bought a second one a week later and it is as good as the first one...... I would have appreciated the help with my grouping if I was having issues. I never turn down good advice from a friend........ :up:1 point

If I'm scared to buy anything used, it would be a cell phone. That's especially true when spending that kind of money. I've had to take advantage of the insurance on my phones countless times, so I couldn't bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on a phone that I'm fairly certain will need repairs before too long. Have you gotten any estimates on having it repaired? There are several places in the Nashville area, but I wouldn't have a clue what they charge. I don't think Apple would be the only option.1 point
