1. Hell in a better world the young man would be getting a handshake from the mayor and a certificate for bravery.

 2. Yeah, the more people Obama makes feel poor the more people will probably vote for him and his promises of turning the poor into middle class.   I have always said there needs to be poor and there needs to be rich as well as all those in the middle. If everyone made the same then we would all be living worse off than we do now. If tomorrow all the poor were given a million dollars then that would be the new poverty level with the liberals screaming they need more money from those who are not "poor".   Everyone has the same opportunity to not be poor but the lazy ones are the ones who are content with being poor so long as they can be lazy. I have seen trailers with a blue tarp covering the 1/2 that burned and there are still people living in it. Now you never see the car leave the driveway so they are content to live in a 1/2 burned house so long as they do not have to work.   Funny thing is all those programs designed to help the poor are actually programs to enslave, making them reliant upon their master to survive. The welfare programs couldn't be designed any better to enslave those the government wishes to control. ln exchange for a small amount of money those enslaved agree to give up any aspirations they might have for a better life. I know I would be pissed if I looked back at my life and realized I gave up my dreams for what amounted to less than minumum wage.   We have both worked hard our entire lives to get what we have. If they want to call us poor at least I know, in my heart, I worked for what I have and in my mind that makes me a richer person than anyone who was given any amount of money.

 3. This blade in modeled after a "Bird and Trout Knife" but could be an ADC knife as well with the proper sheath. It's made of 1/8" 1095 carbon steel And the blade is about 3 3/8" and the over all length is right at 8" which gives it a nice comfortable grip. The scales are made from black canvas micarta and white linen micarta with lime green liners for contrast. The pins are nickle silver corby rivets for strength and has a SS lanyard hole. The lines you see on the blade were covered with pin striping tape prior to acid etching and the blade edge was covered with nail polish. It was etched for 20 minutes to make the "lines" stand a bit proud of the steel. It has generous jimping on the spine just forward of the handle. As always it was a lot of fun learning and experimenting and I really like this little thing. Oh yeah...it's really sharp. 4. Today I was browsing in a local pawn shop owned by a friend & happen to notice he had a German Luger in the case. This was a real beauty & has been very well taken care of by somebody. I'd call the finish at least 90% & it even had the original leather flap holster & two magazines. It was priced $1,250 so I told him it was very nice, but out of my range, but he winked & told me I could shoot it for free. I thought he was making a joke until he pulled out a box of Speer 9mm & told me to follow him outside. It didn't shoot like most old military pistols I've tried. I was amazed at how smooth the action was & how little recoil it had. We had a good time tearing a two liter bottle to shreds behind his shop. When all was said & done I was really impressed at how well it performed & it made my day to have the opportunity to try out a pistol that I've mostly only read about.

 7.   There's an AG Opinion and some case law (I believe) basically saying that a city ordinance cannot supercede State hunting law. I carry a copy of the AG's Opinion in my patrol car to show the antis when they call and complain about someone who is lawfully, and safely, hunting within our city limits.

 8. The Govt is so anti-2A now, you can absolutely expect this law to be abused, and be massaged in to something far worse as they seek to change it to give them more power over guns.

 11. It's made from 1084 carbon steel 5/32" thick. Total length is just over 11 1/2" with a blade length of about 5 1/2". It's shape makes it a Wharncliffe and has sculpted G10 blue scales with zombie green liners. The scales are fastened with epoxy and corby rivets. The design you see in the blade is deep etched into the steel the the entire blade was etched save the edge. It has the "caveman look" on the spine and at the butt of the knife. There is large but gentle jimping added as well. I had a blast making this knife...lots of time and details went into this thing. It's very sharp and the point on it will stick you. Ask me how I know.

 14.
Yeah I hate at will firing states, because you are a slave to greedy corporations. I was fired a couple of times over the years over crap someone accused me of, and at will opens the door to all kinds of discriminatory firings, or being fired simply because they don't like you. I wish the at will thing would just die, you should have a good concrete reason for being fired at a job. Corporations only care about money and would grind their employees into dust to save a few pennies. Look at Wal Mart, many of their employees are on food stamps and welfare while they made billions in profit. With that said, I worked at a gas station, and carried when I worked there. My right to self defense trumps an employer's property rights. If I would have gotten fired for using it, I would have just found another job, at least I would be alive to.
I have the opposite view. I would much rather work in an at will state.

 18. As of 1 July, loaded firearms can be carried in vehicles in Tennessee by anyone; A. Not legally prohibited from owning firearms. and B. Legally operating a privately owned vehicle, or a vehicle whose owner has not prohibited firearms in it.    This huge law change flew almost completely under the radar... I have no idea how, but it's good.

 19. Too many definitions.   As much as I don't like government work, this pdf does a decent job of summarizing the "middle class" definition problem:   http://www.commerce.gov/sites/default/files/documents/migrated/Middle%20Class%20Report.pdf   EDIT: I know this is an old article (2007), but I think it still does a great job putting "poor" in perspective for Americans:   http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2007/08/how-poor-are-americas-poor-examining-the-plague-of-poverty-in-america   I think tend to think "middle class" is more of a talking point or image thing in this country, because even the poor people in this country are much better off than most people in the world.

 20. Actually, I don't like the Seekins very much. I have one on my .300blk. The problem is the adjustment screw is on the reciever side, which makes it impossible to adjust with the rail on regardless of how large the holes are. If I were wanting to make adjustments for taking a suppressor on and off or ammo changes I'd go with a Syrac Ordnance Gen II or an SLR rifleworks. Both use spring retention inside the block to create clicks when you turn the screw. Both are over a $100 tho, so I'd have to determine a true need for field adjustments.

 21. Guess I will be going to Papa Murphy's from now on. Saw the gun buster sign on the door on Papa Johns. In Mt Juliet today. Even my wife and son were on board with taking our business elsewhere. I understand its their right to run their business as they see fit and I can respect that while refusing to spend a dime there.

 24. sounds middle class to me... those are the things that define it...  things like   - having a mortgage, and paying it - having a car - having land is a plus, not required - having a retirement at all - having some in the bank for emergencies - having insurance (the whole package, home, health, car, etc) - having a job that has decent pay, benefits, and requires more than a high school education to perform - not living hand to mouth or paycheck to paycheck to the point that anything going wrong in your life would result in an immediate financial crisis.   to name a few.     TN is an anomaly.  It is considered to be a "poor" state due to median income and education level, yet people here can do very, very well on a low income due to cost of living being very low.   A job here that will barely pay the rent in atlanta can get you a good sized home, car, and a solid lifestyle.

 25. Poor, Middle, and Rich are in the eye of the beholder.  We live, we function, we do just about everything, and you know what, when I walk into Walmart for a loaf of bread, and come out $100 later with other stuff that I don't really need, I consider myself well off.  I never think about my financial social status.  But I do work, don't want a dime from any government program.

 33. Also, the comment about "if police had been informed about mental issues or firearms."   Who does the informing? Some disgruntled family member? A spouse? A neighbor? Someone just wanting to cause trouble for you. It could be any of these.   Give the Government or any agency, LEO, or not, the ability to come into home and search.   Think several times before you say this proposal will be "OK."   Any one of us could be that person if we tee off even a guy on the street under this.   Definitely NOT a good idea.

 40. Agreed. After all was said and done it cost me about $100 to send as many rounds down range with an UZI. Not something I'll likely do again, but I'm glad I got to try it once. I guess it comes down to how much the groupon cost and how flush you are with223. Actually, you'd better do it, it was very cool of your wife to set that up for you two, don't want to let her down.

 44. There are no bumper sticker sized answers for this....   If you are within 2 arms length distance then using hands first is 99.9999% of the time the answer. Going for a gun when the other guy is within touching distance does not have much future to it unless he has his back to you or unless you have him physically controlled first.    It largely comes down to how close they are, how they are armed, and how YOU are armed and where you are carrying it when deciding whether to use hands or weapons. For hands to work against guns you have to be within the distance you can touch the gun before he can react. For hands to work against knives you have to be able to be close enough to control the weapon bearing limb. Out side of those, the gun is going to be the primary tool. With multiple unarmed assailants you may or may not be able to shoot them justifiably....things are complex.    If you can fight with hands and feet then you are far ahead of those who carry a gun so they do not have to learn how to fight. But if you expect the BG to play by rules and fight you fair...good luck with that.
