2. I'm still trying to "get" this. Two days before 9-11, a day when Americans mourn the largest scale terrorist assault on US soil in recent history, the most dangerous terrorist group in the country declares they are putting up a monument to celebrate their bloodiest, most heinous operation in history. Welcome to America?

 4.   I don't want to defend David Koresh, but we have to focus on the law. If a person wants to claim they're the Messiah, that is not illegal. If people choose to follow that person, that is also not illegal. If consenting adults want to be deemed "wives" of someone and engage in intercourse, that is also not a violation of the law. Weird? Yes. Creepy? Yup. A crime? No.    With regard to the child sex abuse allegations, there are two factors. Factor one, it is not the role of the federal government (much less the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) to investigate such matters. It falls into the hands of local and state law enforcement.    Factor Two is what actually happened; At the end of February, 1992 an investigation was opened by the State of Texas Child Protective Services. The affidavit by ex-Davidian Jeannine Bunds stated that Koresh had sex with girls as young as 11 years old, and had fathered children with girls as young as 12.    That investigation was closed in April 1992. The department's summary stated "None of the allegations could be verified. The children denied being abused in any way by adults in the compound. They denied knowledge of any other children being abused. The adults consistently denied participation in or knowledge of any abuse of children. Examinations of the children produced no indication of current or previous injuries." (Cite: Wattenburg. 'Gunning for Karesh', p. 37)   I can't say either way what was or wasn't happening in the Branch Davidian compound, but the fact is the State of Texas did not find any evidence of abuse.      The warrant brought against Koresh that resulted in the massacre was for having and manufacturing machine guns without paying the $200 tax; a tax law violation.      The siege at Waco is a very interesting moment in American history and one that is not talked about much; likely because the facts of the situation reflect very poorly on the government. Multiple books, articles, and films have been made about it. Thanks to FOIA, we have access to a lot of information now and numerous people have done a good job of breaking it down. There are so many different ways that this operation was botched from the word go that we could sit here all night discussing it and barely scratch the surface.   For anyone who wants to start digging into what really happened, I highly recommend picking up the book "No More Wacos" by David Kopel and Paul Blackman. It's a fair look at what happened, backed up with pages upon pages of cites including information from Senate hearings and other documents.

Young women are going to be getting added to the list almost daily now and it will be up to the DA to discount all of the claims verse what is fact and who is just wanting to get their name in the paper and on the news. If the guy is a monster and described and they can get 1 or 2 Iron clad cases against him and get him put away with Big Bubba for ever I see no sense in wasting tax dollars trying him for all of the many more that will be jumping on the band wagon. When they convict him just say your guilty for all of your actions in these cases and any others and life without parole is your sentence and Bubba is waiting for you.........................jmho
I strongly disagree. If the other accusations can be proven valid, he should be charged and tried for each one. I don't care if the first charge gives him a life sentence. Each victim deserves justice, and he should be tried for crimes committed against each of them, if this turns out to be true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What always got me is that I think David Koresh probably needed to be arrested, etc. However, he apparently went jogging outside the complex on a daily basis. He could have been easily and quietly arrested while on one of those jogs. I guess, however, that doing so wouldn't have allowed federal authorities to flex their muscles and 'make an example' out of any group that chose to live other than the way the Feds thought they should be living.
Koresh was accused of failing to properly register a fully automatic weapon by having illegal "conversion kits" to make ARs automatic. The "conversion kits" were nothing more than spare parts kits not unlike what a lot of us may have today. Nothing automatic about them. In the days/ weeks leading up the the raid, Koresh regularly went into town, dined at a local restaurant, and even invited the ATF officers out. He had always willingly complied with local LEO, and there was no reason to believe he would not comply with the ATF. However, just as you said the ATF was in a spot because the future funding of their organization was being debated in Congress at the time. They needed a show, they needed to "prove" their necessity. Hell, they even nicknamed the raid "showtime" and broke a laundry list of laws during the execution of the raid before murdering innocent people.

 10.   I thought it was the Ruby Ridge incident that was started by a shotgun that was just under 18 inches (which is the legal length for a shotgun and 16 is for rifles, right?)  Or were both FBI/Fed screw-ups started by similar things?   What always got me is that I think David Koresh probably needed to be arrested, etc.  However, he apparently went jogging outside the complex on a daily basis.  He could have been easily and quietly arrested while on one of those jogs.  I guess, however, that doing so wouldn't have allowed federal authorities to flex their muscles and 'make an example' out of any group that chose to live other than the way the Feds thought they should be living.

 13. 56 ford is on the money. The other part is there was a claim that a complaint made that kids from the compound were observed playing on the dangerous busy highway. I'm here to tell u, I've been to the compound. There is no traffic in that part of Waco. It sent a chill through my body to see burned kiddie bikes and branch davidians still holding services in a makeshift tent.....burned plastic dollies and other kids items. The whole op was complete bullshit. And always will be. Prayers for the children who died a painful death on that fateful day...

 17.       Marco Polo didn't introduce pasta to Italy by bringing it back from China. It was introduced in the 7th century by Arabs from Libya when they invaded Sicily, beating Mr. Polo by about 600 years.   George Washington did not have wooden teeth. His dentures were made of gold, hippopotamus ivory, lead, animal teeth (including horse and donkey teeth), and probably human teeth from slaves.   The accused in the Salem Witch trials were not burned at the stake. They were hanged or died in prison. They could still turn you into a newt, though.   The Twinkie does not have an infinite shelf life; its listed shelf life is approximately 45 days (25 in its original formulation) and generally remains on a store shelf for only 7 to 10 days. Tallahassee will be continually disappointed.   Bats are not blind. While about 70% of bat species, mainly in the microbat family, use echolocation to navigate, all bat species have eyes and are capable of sight. In addition, almost all bats in the megabat or fruitbat family cannot echolocate and have excellent night vision         This worthless information was brought to you today by the letters M and T and by the number 6.

 18. You mean she hasn't got to you yet? I'll send her along soon.   I am with you on that, I am worried more about storms than I am full out armed defense.  Having said that, I am prepared to defend my family and home in the off chance of a home invasion type scenario.  Being retired military I have plenty of training and gear to put up a heck of a resistance even to the most determined foe, but I am no fool.  If someone wants to get you bad enough and is willing to trade their lives for yours, or its a large enough group it will be a bad day, no matter how well prepared you are.

 19. I'll worry more about things like cancer.    I realize that it is good to be prepared, but the chances of being the victim of an armed siege which I am single handedly defending, then surviving armed siege (regardless of defenses or what my house is made out of) are about the same as the same as having Jennifer Anniston show up at my front door to give me a BJ and make me a sammich.

 20. I ditched the terrible, horrible, no good Uncle Mikes boot grips that S&W put on my 642 from the factory in favor of a set of Pachmayr Compacs (not the Compac Professionals that leave the back strap exposed.) The difference is night and day and, while many are of the opinion that no one will ever say that a lightweight j-frame is fun to shoot, I have to say that with the Pachmayrs it actually is fun. More importantly, I can get a better grip and the covered back strap means that I no longer feel like someone is hitting my palm with a ball peen hammer when I shoot it. Until I changed grips I didn't even realize how much of a flinch I had developed when shooting this gun. That translates into more accurate shooting with potential improvement through practice (I was never going to get better - or even good - with it while it wore the original grips.) As for pocket carry, in the three pairs of pants (actually, one pair of khakis, one pair of denim shorts and one pair of cargo shorts) I have tried it with since changing grips, it was no more difficult to pocket than with the originals. In fact, although I use a pocket holster, it shifted a lot in my pockets with the tiny, almost vestigial factory grips while it stays in place a lot better with the Pachmayrs. Also, when I put my hand in my pocket it just naturally falls into a good grip position with the Pachmayrs. I think the Pachmayrs look better, too. Honestly, I believe these are the grips that S&W should be putting on the 642 at the factory. I also painted the sights on the 642. A little florescent orange along the top edge of the front sight and rear sight notch with a little florescent green behind the orange on the front ramp (to show when I am holding with the front sight too high) makes them a whole lot easier to see and line up properly. I used a black Sharpie to fill in part of the rear sight notch in order to give better contrast. Here is the 642 with first the original grips and then the Pachmayrs, lying on top of my Ruger GP100 to give some indication of the difference in size. Here is what the sights look like, now. No, the painted sights don't look 'cool' or 'bad-a**' or whatever but this is a case where I'll take improved function over appearance.

 21. I traded my DB380 plus some cash for a LC9S striker fired. The trigger is great, it beats my Glock 19 by a mile. Why Ruger came out with the LC9 hammer fired I'll never know. I own one of those too. This LC9s is what they should have made and it makes this a great little pistol, if it shoots as flawlessly as the LC9 hammer fired. When I have a chance to shoot it, I'll post a range report.

 25. One of the best ways to not get a stolen firearm back is by telling a thief that it is hot. The best hope at getting a stolen firearm back is by the gun getting sold to a pawn or gun shop. Sadly, even when an honest person runs across a stolen object they want to get rid of it and not call the police. Too many times stolen guns get thrown into rivers or stashed away deep somewhere so in case it is really needed. I had an acquaintance call me one time an ask me to run a serial numer. I said yes but I need to have the gun in my hand first because if it is stolen I have to keep it. He replied, "I don't want to loose it". This is not the only time I have seen or heard of things like this happening. If I had a gun taken in a theft I would probably call the police with the serial numbers and then make post indicating that I did not know the serial numbers. I would post that I was willing to pay a reward to get the gun back because I will know it when I see it. Another option is to post a want to buy ad for a stainless LCP and hope that someone tries to contact you with yours. Just ask for the serial prefix when they describe it or send the pictures. Then call your detective if someone wit your LCP contacts you.

 28. I can't say enough good things about the PPQ. Same size as the G19 with far better ergonomics and the best trigger in a DA striker fired gun I've ever felt. Even with other guns trigger jobs the PPQ is better IMO.   As far as carry, the love I have for the PPQ has me looking at the Walther CCP. The CCP employs a recoil system much like the P7.

 34.   a pistol and carbine in the same caliber are more than enough to handle "unrest".   If by unrest you mean idiots blocking the road and burning down buildings and looting and so on, like those morons last month were doing.     Odds are you won't be shooting even if people are so-called "rioting" **  but simply stuck in traffic for a long, long, long time and while you might *want* to shoot your way clear you probably shouldn't....     *** contrary to popular and media's misuse, a riot would be an armed conflict between authorities and civilians (usually, or police and prisoners, etc).   We have not had many; and when we do, the police usually win.  Get away from it is your best strategy.  When the cops are using rubber bullets and tear gas, they are not yet serious about it.

 39. Here's a list of things that should happen next... 1. Every Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, True Value, & mom and pops hardware stores in California should join in a counter suit. 2. Lowes should issue a public statement to let it be known the state of Kalifornia has become an unfriendly retail environment and they will close all stores, immediately. 3. California falls off into the ocean/becomes it's own separate communist state. Unfortunately none of those things will happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 42.   I have watched the video over and over again and I do NOT see a single white kid attacking anyone. Please, give a time on video and relative location of the white person attacking. Better yet a screenshot and circle them.   Yes, some of us are upset because of the disparity between how a black on white crime is portrayed versus a white on black crime. Or even more upsetting is when there are hundreds of black on black crimes occurring every day but not a single word of it in the national news. Yet if an other than black guy kills a black person it is all of a sudden a huge racial issue. Is it not a racial issue if a black attacks a white if a white killing a black in a similar manner is. Just because we are upset because it is not fair does not make us racists.   There are racists on all sides. And honestly I have personally seen more examples of blacks making openly racists statements, as well as threats, against whites than whites doing the same against minorities. Could be that whites are hiding it much better but it still doesn't change the fact that some blacks are making statements that are racist in nature. I am not racist but I am prejudiced. I am prejudiced against anyone, regardless of race or color, who tries to use race as an excuse to attack another human being or uses race to claim they are a victim when they are not.   And how are we to hold parents accountable for their kids? Holding the parent(s) accountable for a child skipping school is one thing but charging the parents for the crimes of their children is insane? Some kids, not matter the amount of supervision or how involved their parents are, will get in trouble. And if charging parents with the crimes of their children flies then what will prevent a parent from being charged criminally if their minor child has an accident and kills someone?

 45. I OC a lot. I live in a fairly rural area where a lot of folks have their permits, so it's not unusual to see OC here.   I will admit that I put my shirt over the grip on a regular basis when a store is fairly busy/crowded... not that so many folks really notice it to begin with. If it's semi-covered with a shirt, it's as good as IWB, in a sense, for most of the population's situational awareness. When I'm going into a larger area or out of state (especially out of state), I tend to conceal more often than not. I picked up a pocket 9mm for those occasions when I need to be more dressy or want to travel light and still want to carry.   We are privileged in this state to have a choice between OC or concealed, with an AG opinion to match. As long as a person walks, talks, and acts right, let them choose what and how is best for their own situation.   :2cents:
