1. Glad you got him back. But now you are going to have to buy him a camel.

 2. Well folks, I went and got my Colt back this morning. I must say it was a nice place. It is in Pulaski on a 35 acre farm. Very nice man and woman. It seemed to me to be on the up and up. I didn't even want to leave lol. They had a big nice cabin and a barn and a couple ponds. He was taken good care of. They actually have there a camel. Yep, an 8 foot tall camel that Colt had befriended in his last few months there. I am glad I got him back. They actually didn't even ask for a fee but I went ahead and donated generously. He is back home doing well. We are sitting outside by the fire as I type. I am going to get him chipped next week when I take the smaller dog in for her second rounds of shots. Glad he is home.

 4. I was driving by the far end of the property this evening on my way home and against my better judgement I decided to swap memory cards in the camera. I've been trying to leave them for 3 or more days between visits to minimize the chance of being seen and then only going in around noon but I figured I would pull this one while I was close by. You can't tell a lot about the deer but thought it was cool that he got right up against the camera to pose for a shot not to mention he was in there about 20 minutes after a group of doe left during day;ight so it makes me think that they are starting to rut. anyways, here's the pic, I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of mature bucks that I have on the property this year! I saw a 10pt coming across the road heading towards the camera that this pic is from a few days before but he never stopped in for a photo session. This one makes 5-6 (two of them may have been the same buck but I couldn't say for sure because of the camera angles) "shooter" bucks that have walked by a camera so there could be more. Al have been outside or close to outside the ear width 8-10 point deer so here's to hoping for a great season!

 6. Just got my Ruger super Redhawk back from Ruger. The hammer was worn and could be pushed forward with your thumb. Ruger fixed the gun, adjusted the barrel gap and headspace, gave me new grips and sent the gun back in a new box. All of this cost be a grand total of 0$. Probably one of the best experiences I've had with any company

 10. Why do some of you guys go around picking up dogs that don't belong to you?   As far as this thread goes, that seems like the larger problem here. If the guy would have simply left the op's dog alone, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

 12. What is wrong with being concerned? Nothing. You absolutely should be concerned. But you sell yourself as having the inside scoop on everything with your "I talked to so and so..." and "I'll make a call and find out..." and people respect you as a "subject matter expert." So you saying that this looks like it's going to happen makes people think it's a done deal. It's not. You put this out there without also adding in all the other available info. As a "SME," you have to remember that people will blindly follow your every command and take your word as fact. But these types of posts and scare tactics have driven ammo prices to double in the last 6 years and in some cases, ammo is still hard to find. At least the AR market self corrected but ammo probably never will.

 13. I happened to stop by my local gun shop the other day and hidden in the gun case was a new S&W Model 929 9mm. This is one difficult gun to find at this time. Had a chance to shoot a few rounds today and this gun is really great to shoot. I shot 72 rounds of my IDPA 124 gr FMJ with a power factor of 128000. With the removable compensator on the gun I was able to shoot very fast with great accuracy. When I took the compensator off and put the replacement cap on the end of the barrel and the gun shot just as well. I do believe the gun is a little flatter shooting with the compensator on. I plan on shooting the gun in USPSA revolver division and the gun will be scored minor. I will give more updates later.

 18.    That's a good deal for pretty much any functioning AR but a great deal for one coming from a reputable company! Dave it will be tough to beat this for a first AR. Put a decent free float handguard on it and you're good to go brother!

 19. when it comes to 123 batteries it is best to buy name brand.  to many other brands and large pack of unknown brands these days that are not as good as the name brand.  when it comes to 123 batteries you can pay now or pay more later.

 20. My next project. A while back I picked up a '60s era Kohler generator rated for 6.5kva. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it and sitting in my shed for a few years didn't help it any I'm sure, but I've decided I want to see what I can do with it. Interesting things about the L600 inline 4-cylinder for use as a generator are that it runs at 1800rpm and it's liquid cooled. In theory this should mean that it can run quieter than a more modern (non-inverter) generator. It also uses the generator has itself as a starter motor. If I can get it running I'm probably going to use it as a backup power source for my home - I need to see how practical it is. Right now it has no spark and the fuel pump is missing pieces so it has no fuel either. When hooked to a battery it turned over freely, had compression, and showed good oil pressure on the gauge. Current state: degreasing and getting years of crud and funk cleaned up so that I can begin working on it. I didn't think to take pics before I started cleaning - these are after an hour of spraying engine degreaser and scrubbing.

 21. After shooting, I field strip and spray mine down with CRC/Non-chlorinated brake cleaner, blow it out with an air hose, on low, then spray down with Eezox® Gun Care spray and let it sit for about 15 minutes, wipe it down good and put it back together. Works for me and don't take long at all.

 26.     5 different factory mags, with brass ammo, and no modifications.  The first time it started having failure to extract issues was approximately 2 months after I bought it.  I got it back the day Sandy Hook happened, so I ended up not shooting it much for the next year.  Just started shooting again in earnest, and I was having a 10% jamming rate (mostly FTE, but a few stovepipes).  Sent it back again (they replaced the bolt a second time), and the jamming rate had decreased to 5%.  Now they are sending me a replacement.  I specifically bought a Mini-14 because of the reputation for reliability.  A Google search turns up several people with 582 series with the same problem.  I hope they have fixed whatever problem has been the newer ones.   So all that means that I'm glad they have good customer service, but I'm wondering if their manufacturing has developed problems.

 31. It isn’t “what people want to believe”; it’s getting the facts. Ebola not being airborne is not a fact and is in dispute by many medical professionals including those that have studied it for years. But now that Obama has appointed an Ebola Czar who is a professional political worker that has absolutely no medical training; we surely will get good info.

 32. It's been explained. He is the safety protocol supervisor. He isn't suited up because it obstructs his view. He is observing those who are contacting the patient while he is at a safe distance. He is trained to not make contact and has a suit ready if a situation were to warrant him putting it on. He observes the transfer of potentially contaminated material in biohazard containment bags and then boards the plane. Regardless of what people want to believe, this disease isn't airborne, keeping a distance from infected patient is a perfectly reasonably safety measure. I read a story if how reporters in west Africa are safer NOT wearing suites because the potential contamination when removing it is high. It's better to not wear the suit and keep you distance from anyone who might have the EBOLA and basically don't touch anything and disinfect continually.

 33. Someone needs to be photoshopping that guy into moon landing shots, beside the grassy knoll, etc.       Something is definitely off about him being an idiot. Surely there would have been a lot of waving and shouting if he was out of place? And then he's holding that bag open for whatever they're putting in there.

 34. Are you kidding? If my dogs broke out I would hope there are at least a few decent people like myself who would do what they could to keep them from being hit by a car and returned home safe. The fact that I've done it over a dozen times in the past few years, and having many of the owners thank me profusely tells me I did the right thing. Of course, it's attitudes like yours which make people like me reconsider doing good deeds. I hate the headache associated with doing nice things for assholes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 37. He got what he deserved. He was at a convenience store and confronted a car load of teens because he doesn't like thug music. Why does there always have to be more to the story when some gun owing Jack wad does something stupid? He made a bad decision and several families will be left to suffer for years.

 38. Do not buy wet bleach for storage. It turns into salt water pretty quickly.   Go to a pool supply store and buy calcium hypochlorite in dry form. It lasts so much longer and once added to water becomes bleach.

 40.   Succinctly put, the legislature wants to legalize the procedure they've been doing illegally for decades.  The only plus I can think of for voting Yes is it keeps out-of-state money from influencing the election of judges.  This is the like the mess that began when the U.S. 17th Amendment was ratified and took election of senators from the hands of the legislatures and put it up for popular vote.   I wouldn't want George Soros' money fueling a Tennessee Supreme Court election.

 41. So the guy takes your property, that wasn't really lost.  Holds onto it for 6 months, all the while trying to sell it to the first respective buyer.   You catch wind due to your own efforts not the efforts of the rescue. And you are supposed to be thankful and pay him to get your own property back that never was really lost to begin with.    Why stop at dogs, how about all livestock, automobiles, and children...lost cell phones and wallets... If you lose your keys and I find them, can I turn around and sell your car?    Now I am very pro rescue.  3 of my dogs have been rescues, but they were owner surrenders or picked up from the local animal shelters by the rescues.    I know the polite thing is to be thankful, pay the $80 and live happily ever after.  And that's exactly what you should do.  But it just rubs me the wrong way to think someone can just pick up any random dog walking down the street and essentially sell it.

 43. FEAR MONGERING!    Do not buy into this 100 percent.  Chip is right.  The draft has been around for a while and it was one of many proposed forms.  This is NOT to be taken as evidence that 41P will be adopted.  I'm not saying that it can't or won't be but this form is proof of nothing.     Its a government agency.  You don't think they would produce dozens of different drafts for something that they are thinking about doing before implementing anything?   This is a much ado about nothing deal and should not be taken seriously yet.

 44. maybe sort of OT but please vote NO on wine in grocery stores.   Keep your dollars in TN.   Money spent at your local wine shop stays in the community.  Money spent at Wallys and Kroger as well as others goes out of state.

 46.   TargetSportsUSA has this stuff for $5.00 per 50, so you're looking at $50 for 500. Ammoman has definitely been overpriced recently. I'm really starting to like TargetSports. Get their email updates and have been able to snag some pretty good deals (325 Federal Automatch for $24.95!), but along with HiPower I really like SGAmmo too, they just never have any 22 in stock. I use them alot for 9mm, 45, and 5.56............If only Freedom Munitions had 22!! LOL
