  1. That's Gene Kennedy's operation.  I didn't even know he was still in business.   There was a time years ago where one of our members took pictures of his stupid booth at a gun show and posted them here, making fun of some of the crap he was hocking, and he immediately sent me one of those "I'm not a lawyer but I stayed at Holiday Inn Express last night" letters in the mail threatening to sue for slander.  I had a real lawyer write him back and he went away.   You should probably cut your losses and take photos of yourself burning that ID pouch and post them on the Internet for your own enjoyment.     Edited to add...   Looks like you're not the only one.  http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/legally-armed/Murfreesboro-Tennessee/legally-armed-Gene-Kennedy-Never-received-merchandise-Murfreesboro-Tennessee-1172305

  2. So I was in Whittaker Guns yesterday looking to buy one of the new Ruger American .22 threaded versions. Well the only one left that had the longer legnth-of-pull had the rear sight broken, so I looked at the new Predator version. So it also has a threaded barrel, but instead of factory sights it has a pre-installed scope rail, and is the predador green stock. Other than that its identical. The guy at Whittakers said there were only 500 .22 versions of this rifle and a Sports South exclusive. All of the others were typical predator hunting calibers. anyways I mounted a red dot on there and my current suppressor as I await getting my dedicated .22 suppressor. The trigger is adjustable and very crisp. It also takes the 10/22 rotary mags or any high capacity mags designed for 10/22.

  3. Got my gift today! It's a waterproof shaving kit bag that's actually made from recycled fire hose. Can't say I've ever seen one of these before, and my mind goes crazy as to what else you could put in this bag. Definitely a unique and awesome gift! Thanks secret Santa! I wish I knew what your screen name was, but I do know your name is Matt!

  4. The short answer is that TN has an abundance of "not pro gun" elected officials.  The majority of them are, at best, fence-sitters who will pass NOTHING pro-gun but will also NOT PASS anything that jeopardizes their position, which is any "heavy" anti-gun laws.    We are having a hard time replacing these incumbents --- when a decent candidate actually runs, they lose.

  6.   BTW, mine is legal according to the ATF/Feds. It was not made under the Freedom Firearms Act of Tennessee. Yes I made it but I did not make a single part before I submitted and got approved 40 days later. BTW, I have a lot more information about the silencer that I will be posting in that thread shortly.

  8. ^ This right here. Can't say it any better. I will say there's a right way and wrong way to do those little 2 minute jobs, get paid, AND leave your customer feeling great. As someone who's done a bit of guitar setup and repair, I can tell you I have no trouble charging someone $40-$50 to adjust a truss rod(loosening or tightening a nut) adjust their action,(play with some screws" and intonate their guitar (playing with different screws). I also had no trouble charging someone $60 to wrap an eraser with wet dry paper and take out the dent in the fret of their new guitar. Both jobs average 25-30 minutes and take minimal investment. Heck, intonate to your own ear and you can do it with common household tools. But people didn't pay me to play with screws and loosen/ tighten nuts, they payed me because I knew what to do, and how to do it. The biggest thing in keeping people happy was doing a good job, and doing the job AWAY from them. Had the smith in this case taken the gun in a back room, fixed it and brought it out in less than a minute, I'd bet we would be hearing about his magical fixing prowess.

  9. The relevance of the statement in red is that Haslam was a member of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns until he made his mind up to seek the Presidency using the governor's mansion as a stepping stone.   The link shows that he believes he should be able to garner all power unto himself, shouldering the GA out of its responsibility, and the ability of the People to hold them responsible for their actions.  If a bureaucrat can make all decisions then the People are further removed from their Constitutional Right to control the government, and he can charge his fellow mega-business friends for doing their bidding.   The two are mutually exclusive, we passed a Constitutional Amendment to that guarantees the Citizens of Tennessee the Right to hunt and fish, but allows the General Assembly to be in charge, so that is not in truth a right, just as they control the individual's ability to carry firearms outside one's property.  Our Constitution intends the lawful citizen to be able to, our General Assembly has made it a crime.   As you are new to the State, here is a link to our Constitution: http://www.tncrimlaw.com/law/constit/   Pay particular attention to Article 1 §s 1, 2, 8, 21 and 26, as well as Article II § 1, Article X § 2 and Article XI § 16.  You get your head around those, and you will be better informed than 99% of the legislators and all the Executive Branch of this State.

  11. You will get nothing, and I mean nothing pro-gun from our governor, or any of the divisions of intended separation of powers that he has co-opted via money, from his challenges to any conservatives in the SEC to his PACs use of out of State funds to defeat conservatives in the GA (six conservatives targeted this year) to the highest reaches of the judiciary by getting #2 passed, allowing his hand picked guy to be AG.  This from a member of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns... Like the Nation, we in Tennessee must simply survive the rest of his tenure (Haslam's, remember he is Obama's "favorite" Republican governor) just as we hope to survive Obama's reign.   http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/2014/12/haslam-tdot-not-lawmakers-should-have-final-say-on.html?ana=fbk

  12. No idea why that might be considered the case, but if you say so, I have no reason to doubt you. My quick Google search indicates his background is 35 years in law enforcement. He apparently ran as a Dem in the last election where he faced fierce opposition from the Bloomberg anti-gun money. He was harshly criticized for telling citizens to use a gun to defend themselves instead of relying on 9-1-1. He is a strong critic of Sharpton and Holder. Sometimes even a hard core red neck conservative like me can find common ground with certain liberals.

  14. Stumbled across this today for my small mouse gun accumulation. Bottom is a Beretta 950 .22Short, 95%+. Odd thing is how I got it. One of our local pawn shops is part of a chain of some 400 shops. This one is the only one in the region that sells guns. I had picked up the chrome Jennings .22 a couple of weeks ago and the clerk told me that I could put in a request list and when one of the guns was available in their system that they would try and get it to me. I figured for the three "obscure" .22s I wanted that it would take 6-12 months. I was surprised to get a call from the store manager today that one of my three requested guns came in, after only 2 weeks. I told them I hope the other two guns don't come in for a month or two.

  23. They have been saying they are going to open the other ranges for a very long time, at least 10 years, but I have yet to hear of ANYONE who has shot on those long ranges. I cannot imagine what sort of arbitrary rules they are going to have in place for them. The rules for the 100 yard bench rest range are idiotic at best then you have a bunch of idiots trying to enforce idiotic rules and it becomes laughable. I have personally seen things I will never forget and heard things that make you wonder how they survived childhood.

  24.     As Mayor of Knowville Haslam was a proud card carrying member of Bloombergs "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" which is no different than Mothers Demand Action or the Brady Campaign, all radical anti-2nd Amendment organizations whose ultimate real goal is to disarm every citizen in the United States completly. He only quit and "claimed" he didn't know their true agenda after deciding to run for Governor of Tennessee. A tiger can't change their stripes, he's the poster boy for the typical politician who will tell everyone what they want to hear with no intention of following through with what he says most of the time. I know he's signed a few bills but he HAD TO and he knows he had to because he's the typical politician. Put him on a national stage and watch him change again, I am 99.99% positive he's the very RINO that would support and sign some assualt weapons ban in a heartbeat, he's a thin Chris Christy. I do not believe he has much of a chance in a primary to run for POTUS, he would be one of those names at the bottom of the persentage total in the low single didgets which i'm glad. I hope that bafoon lying RINO Christy is right on the bottom of the total with Haslam. My campaign slogan for anyone running against Haslam would be, Make Haslam a Hasbeen.

  27. Mechanical devices can fail. If you follow the rules of gun safety it is nearly impossible to shoot someone. Switching off a safety on a loaded rifle while it is pointed at your son is reckless. Glock has been plagued with accusations that the gun went off without pulling the trigger for years. Did they recall them? No, they offered “upgrades”. I’ve seen many times those new to firearms posting that there is no such thing as a “accidental discharge” only “negligent discharges” and that a gun can’t discharge without pulling the trigger; that is what they have been told, and it is wrong. I sent my 700 in and they replaced the trigger and sent it back. Did it need it? Probably not, but it didn’t cost me anything so I had it done. My rifle isn’t loaded unless it’s pointed down range, and the trigger is excellent; so I didn’t want to pay $150 for a trigger I don’t need. Remington is trying to do what’s right. They are a great American Firearms Company that makes an excellent product. I wish them continued success.

  28. Just received "Day of Wrath" and haven't gotten to it as yet. I wasn't aware of it till I was going thru one of Amazon's almost daily emails. lol But ordered it immediately. Just on the basis of "One Second After," I knew I had to read it. Btw, if you have a copy of One Second After, take care in lending it out. lol I think my copy has been thru all of my brother-in-law's buddies and now lost out in the ozone somewhere. It is an absolutely stunning book. One you will never forget. It will touch you in ways that will shock you and make you rethink all you have done in your life...at least it should.

  30. Former police chief Mark Kessler is a self-agrandizing jackass that has watched too much TV; and has a "Messiah Complex"...   He obviously believes his trolling for "sovereign citizens" is an honorable thing, and can't contain his glee in doing so... he had to go public with the news of how great and self-sacrificing he is... I'm kinda like the old man about the "sovereign citizens" and the "lone wolves"....They are like the mythical "unicorn"; ..."ive heard about 'em, but ive never seen one"...; and i doubt that Kessler has either...     Mark Kessler symbolizes all that is wrong with government and a small body of people out there (...mostly in government...) who see a subversive behind every bush and view the citizenry of this country as a rabble to be watched and controlled...   Mark Kessler and people like him are far more like Joseph Stalin than George Washington... The hell with Mark Kessler and people like him...    disgusted leroy

I have the Hog Hunter, and a few of my friends have the Scout. I think you'll be more than happy with the Scout. It's a great little rifle.

  40. For those of you that never had a pumped out septic tank ... think about this. Solids settle on the bottom. Solids do not dissolve. Solids come from indigestible food and leavings that rot but don't dissolve. Solids come from sand and dirt, floor washing and laundry. Solids come from lint, plastics and whatever else that goes down the drain. Solids also come from "wet-strength" paper that is formulated in some toilet papers, paper towels and especially sanitary napkins. So now the bottom of the tank starts filling up ... less and less water with microbes doing the decomposition work. Eventually, the tank fills and solids start tricking into your leach field. Your leach field clogs up with silt. You now are looking at a $15-30k bill to build another leach field IF YOU HAVE ROOM ON YOUR PROPERTY TO DO SO! So unless someone invents a solution that turns solids to liquids in an environmentally safe fashion, pump that crap out from the bottom of your tank at least every five years. The more liquid in your tank, the more bacteria will separate solid from liquid keeping a 'happy' functional septic system. Those that want to continue believing in magic .... carry on.

  42. Probably NOT the answer you want, but I load my 9mm with whatever SD ammo is available at a good price after I've cycled through whatever I bought the last time I found some on sale. I probably wouldn't go for full on frangible rounds, but pretty much any quality SD ammo will get the nod if its a few buck cheaper than normal. I do advocate buying enough at a go to run them through your pistol for a few mags to see how they feed and all, but that's one area where your smaller capacity comes in handy. It's a lot cheaper to run 3 mags through your 938 than it is to run 2 out of my M&P :D

  45. What is really sad is a lot of these imposters, from what I have found, have actually been in the military. Most are some sort of support MOS like a cook or driver or supply. That lets them know enough to BS 99% of the people they meet. But when they meet the 1% who are actually real deal Ranger, SF, PJ, MARSOC, SEAL it is obvious those that lie are full of it.
