2. I tried to find an emoji that represented living under a rock or waking from a coma after several years, but couldn't find one. Just kidding! But if you had to ask this, there's probably an awful lot you are missing out on besides ammo shortages. Politics, knife laws, war, terrorism, race riots, etc. I recommend reading TGO daily, and you should be back up to speed in a few weeks.

  4. When I had an FFL, I made it a practice to never sell cheap guns. I realize a lot of people can not afford to buy a quality gun but usually the people who buy these guns are the people who know the least about firearms. They buy a $150 gun and expect it to be as reliable as a Glock. Then they tell all their friends who know nothing about firearms how you are selling junk that does not work. I've found it better to stay completely away from all these headaches.

  7. Taking a page from Willis' playbook, I had these made for all of the FNRA Banquets here in TN. The #1 knife will be up for "donation" after the first of the year. #2 will be at the FNRA Statewide meeting here in Nashville in Feb. I love the 2 tone blade and Dave @ Protech really hooked us up with these :)

  8. I have had a Gerber combat folder for a long time and the clip screws began to get lose and I lost one. So I quit using it. And then last week I found it setting on my self and thought I should try and get a set of screws for it to get it back in carrying mode. So I looked up  Gerber website and went to the service link and they asked for my info and the problem I had. At the end of the page it said someone would be getting in touch with me. Well in the mail box Friday was a small brown package with a new clip and six screws. No one ever sent me a email or called they just took care of the problem.    Thanks Gerber   Andy

  10. Years ago, in an interview in Guitar Player Magazine, Brian referred to my Dad as "one of the founding fathers of rock 'n roll." I proudly showed that to him, and he just smiled and shrugged in his humble way. He always said, "I was just doing my job, not making history."   I had to go look it up. It was in 1983, the September issue.

  12. My church is buying all local LEO in my town fruit baskets for Christmas.  It may not be much, but we are thinking about them this Christmas.  First time we have done this.  Many LEO are getting a bad rap based upon recent events, we want them to know we supporting them this season.  I know of other churches in Knoxville and surrounding areas doing the same this year, it appears to be coordinated, but may be just coincidental.  If your local churches or civic groups are not supporting, you might want to consider supporting one or more as well, or drop hints to your church, civic groups, etc.  Or simply tell a LEO thank you!   BTW, thank you LEO for what you do every day!  Merry Christmas!

  15. I talked to him today and he was upset with the timing but not me standing behind my sale. After talking about it he was happy about what I did and happy he has some one who stands up like this for a product on my own. So all good there. He is also ordaining us some cleaning kits to either sell with guns or to throw into a deal to make it a better sale. And we are working out a way to make sure this does not happen again. Including maybe setting up a test firing of the used guns we have just brought in so we can make sure all is working. Either way we are working it out and everyone input is being put to use. Thank you

  16. Dave will make us a MUCH better deal on the TR4, so I am leaning towards that knife, maybe 2016 for a Fixed blade,   The TR4 are great, they actually have a safety switch on them and include a glass breaker, If you guys will be onboard for this knife this summer, I will make it happen
    3 points
  17. Or would you guys prefer a Large Auto on this run instead of fixed blade? a TR4 would be much cheaper and they are great knives, just throwing ideas out here, this next run wont be happening until Summer, I will start collecting for it it in May

  18.     I lived in that world for a number of years. TQM, 6 Sigma, Poka Yoke, Kaizan, VOC, T-tests, ad nasuem....   Those are a bunch of wonderful concepts that, when applied intelligently, can significantly improve a wide variety of processes.  Or what I like to call, the stuff any process engineer worth his salt had been doing long before the bosses paid the consultants an obsene amount of money to give it a fancy name.  I escaped for a while but unfortunately it's begun to invade my current world.  So far, the results have bordered on laughable.    If there are people involved, there will be mistakes.  Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.  Make something idiot-proof, they'll make a better idiot.

With the right knowledge and gear you can do quite a bit safely and easily. Just ask the Egyptians who built the pyramids...

  21. The Box Under Bill & Hillary's Bed   When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under the bed.   You must promise never to look in it." In all their 30 years of marriage, Hillary never looked. On the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside. In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $8,874.25 in  cash. She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents. That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner. After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry, Bill.  For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?" Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again." Hillary was shocked, but said, "Hmmm, Jennifer, Paula and Monica. I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad considering your problem." Bill thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace. A little while later Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?" Bill answered: "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash."

  29. If your boss is buying new inexpensive guns from manufacturers/distributors for those who are on a limited budget, I would tell him to think about ditching the Cobra for Hi-Points. If I was on that kind of budget, I'd probably buy a Hi-Point before anything else offered in that price range.

  30. tell them about the issue and offer to clean it once for them for free?   Many manufacturers send it not with lube but packing / protective grease which is not really good for function but great for storage.  It could be that sort of thing?

  38. Back when you could book Hog trips in Catoosa Wildlife management my little brother carried a Ruger Blackhawk and two years in a row he bagged a hog with 1 shot. Once from the ground and once from up a tree where the hog put him and that shot was straight down through top of hogs head and out the throat. Then they closed the hunts down. Now with that said I have several buddies that big game pistol hunt and several of them are shooting these. I noticed that no one mentioned them. Any particular reason why they have gone unmentioned in any posts? Inquiring mind wants to know. Taurus M44 44 Mag or M444 Raging Bull 44 mag.

  40. "....Edit: I don't consider .10 a round or more reasonable, ymmv. Edit 2.0: I've probably been to these stores 100+ times in the past 2 years, Wal-Mart probly 200+, I check every time I go.
Take into account the time you've wasted and the gas costs. I did the store rounds for a while. Gave it up. Just too demanding of my time. I could have been doing other things much more important and enjoyable. As far as 10 cents a round...it's coming. I have no doubt of it.

  41. Well I finished it yesterday. It's 1/8" thick 1095 carbon steel with a RC 60. The blade is ground very thin....good for a skinning knife I reckon. I etched it in Super Blue and bleach first to obtain the pitting and and generally the "damn that knife looks old look". When it comes out of 3 hours of the bleach it has about 1/8" of an inch of rust on it. It looks likes it's been rusting in a barn for 50 years. The you have to clean it all off and sand it smooth and when you get it where you want it I dipped into my regular etching solution for about 8 minutes and it turns it all black. Then you have to clean it off again and sand it again. I sanded the blade to 800 grit. You can see how shiny it actually came out. The blade grind is smooth as a baby's butt. Then a final sharpening and installed the handles and coated them with a coat of linseed oil and burnished them with leather.

  45. Got my Smiff'n Western in Wednesday. I kinda like the look with the ridiculously huge sun shade on the scope, lol! It's an MA compliant model, so that stock will be replaced soon, and probably a drop-in trigger eventually. The handguards will also go bye-bye in time. Hoping to try it out Sunday after church!

  46.   Dude, thanks for posting that.  It was that simple of a fix.       Yeah, I wanted to move mine further as well, but the delta ring is in the way.  Makes shooting with my nose on the charging handle impossible.  I'll try it out sometime next week or the week after to figure out if I can work with it, or I need to get rings that can mount on the rail without having to slide on from an end.

It seems congess would rather waste our tax dollars on worthless government programs and sending billions each year to countries that hate us.  All the Chinese have to do is wait.

  48. It is wrong. Most consider it considerate to let the officer know and every time I have, they thanked me for letting them know. To each their own, but I figure an officer not being surprised by seeing my weapon if I have to get out of the care is better for me and him.

  49. Please use the 223 (not FMJ as that is illegal) so when you do hit one it dies quickly.  You could probably use a 22, but why, it's not fair to the animal unless you have a perfectly placed shot.  Plus, if it is at any distance, you will just end up wounding it.  Some may disagree, but I am always looking for a humane kill.  Since you have a 223, use it.  Personally, I don't think a red dot is a great option for Coyote hunting though.  If possible, I would get at least a 3-9x scope to put on it.  It doesn't have to be expensive as a 223 doesn't have a lot of recoil and an AR decreases it even further.
