  1. I about fell out laughing when they kissed.   Mostly laughing wondering who would lose their mind here first. I hope it turns out they are married.   At least being gay explains the fashion sense and cleanliness.   Pretty good episode.   Why didn't Glenn turn on the wipers?

  3. I just wanted to share some photos I took of the Squared Away Customs "KILO" holster that I just received for my Glock 19. I wanted something in a minimalist vein but am not a fan of the Vanguard style of so-called holsters that only cover the trigger guard and nothing else. I wanted something that had strong positive retention, that didn't have a lot of bulk, and preferrably used a belt loop instead of a clip. When a friend on Facebook recommended the SAC Kilo, I gave it a shot and am very pleased with what made its way to my doorstep. They have the KILO for other handgun makes and models so if you're in the market for something similar, give them a look. Mark Lancaster, the proprietor of SAC, is cranking out some really nice gear.

  4.   Took a knee in a surprisingly controlled fashion while walking down the hill through the yard on Tuesday to check the mail.  Pretty much stayed down on that knee for most of the slide down to the mailbox.   When I got there, I noticed a guy from the county doing inspections at a house under construction across from me was watching the whole ordeal with a grin on his face.  He asked me if I meant to do that, then promptly busted his own ass on the ice he was walking across.   I should have asked him if he meant to do that but kindness found it's way out of my face-hole and I instead asked if he was alright.   I surprise myself sometimes.

  9. Tara and the one girl from the second camp the Governor raided the prison with.   The one thing to take into account is that this is the highest rated cable television show of all time. That means there is a good chance that a good chunk of folks from all minorities and majorities watch it. Regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation.   While watching two men kiss is not my cup of tea, it didn't grievously offend me. I am a big boy, I can handle watching things that make me uncomfortable.

  17.   I'll be the first to admit that I have an affinity toward 1911's but this statement is about as closed minded as it gets, and is entirely subjective to personal taste.   I'd bet you a box of ammo that my M&P 45 will run longer in nastier conditions than just about any mass-produced 1911 on the market currently and cost a whole hell of a lot less.

  20. Just to play Devil's Advocate here, was the sex shown between Lori and Shane, or Glenn and Maggie, or even Andrea standing naked in the moonlight necessary?    To a degree I argue that it all was and is necessary to show that life goes on, the birth of Judith is proof that the world continues, the sun rises, the sun sets. Humans will continue to find comfort in one another's company.   I am certain the writers did get a kick out the introduction of a gay male character, well two. A gay female, especially an attractive one will rarely be shunned, because we are nothing if not hypocritical when it involves attractive women and fantasy. I remember last summer the enormous outcry that came from the rumor that it would be revealed that Daryl batted for the other team. I am sure the big in you face man on man tongue action was someone's idea of giving a big 'eff you' to criticism.       My honest opinion, as long as the story moves along, characters are still developed, zeds still get piked, I am along for the ride.

  22. Lived in Kissimmee and Orlando for almost three years from early '74 to Dec '76 working for the Mouse. I loved it there, made many good friends, many of whom I still keep in touch with through Facebook, but when it was all said and done, I missed the change of seasons and was ready to move back where I could be close to the mountains again. I've never regretted that decision.

  31. I'm not sure the lenses will work. The pro-consumer cameras like the D7100 are not full size sensor cameras. Meaning the sensor is smaller than a 35mm frame. Plus the new lenses would have benefits such as motion stability and are designed to work with the digital bodies. I know there is a way to make older lenses work with some of the Canon digital bodies as I have a friend who did this, but I'm not sure what's necessary on Nikons.   The biggest difference you'll notice is that it's hard to get a truly wide angle lens like you may be accustomed to on a film camera. Most of the consurmer slr you'll need to multiply the focal length by 1.6 to get the comparable 35mm. I miss that the most when moving to digital. I moved to all Nikon when switching to digital and it's worked out nicely. You'll find with the automatic focus etc. that you'll get to spend more time on composition. I also somewhat miss the depth of field usage that film cameras offered. Digital is a bit harder since most lenses are 3.5 and larger. I do have a 1.4 lens for my Nikon digital, but have actually used it very little. It's a straight 50mm, or 75mm equivalent in 35mm cameras. When you get used to the zooms they really are hard to put down.   The kit lenses are not all that good. You might consider buying a body and choose one of their higher grade lenses separately.

  35. Like anything else there are a lot of places that do TiN coating (and other types). Some of the concerns are the temperatures used in the process. The TiN is not inside the barrel, so the wear resistance is for the outside. So if you shoot enough for wear to be an issue on the outside of the barrel; it will still be shot out. Barrel replacement seems like a better deal to me should you ever shoot it enough for wear to be an issue; regardless of what treatment you go with. Cleaning the outside of my barrels is pretty easy, so I don’t think ease of cleaning would justify it. I’m not big on painting guns; but if I wanted to do something to a BCG; I would try Cerakote Micro slick.

  40. Yes, grabagun's mailings have caused me to make a few buys in the last few years, and I am still greatly tempted to order one. But have enough 1911s to get me thru most situations...lol.   Not as many as Eray, but I'm ok. No rehab treatments necessary...yet.   And yes....that is a very good buy. If it were the Enhanced model...I'd be unlimbering the cc right now.     HOWEVER....that Springfield XDS is really tempting!

  46. I always recommend not having ammo in the safe in case of fire.  Just on the off-chance *some* of the guns *might* survive the fire, a large ammo explosion puts an end to your luck.  A cheap safe might be in order as an ammo cabinet if you think someone will steal it.    One nice way to store 223 is in your mags...  at some point more mags is silly and pricy but at least 10 or so is a solid investment and good storage, depending on your paranoia level and budget...   Otherwise, what people here said is all great.  Cool dry place,  moisture control if needed,  stack it somewhere sturdy in rugged stackable containers or on rugged shelving.  DIY  thick shelves can hold hundreds of pounds over a 2-4 foot span, 6 or so shelves from floor to ceiling would hold 10s of thousands of rounds of common ammo.   For really long term storage you could paint over the primers to seal them or do a light vacuum seal (dont suck the primers and bullets out the case, but get most of the air) with one of those food storage devices.  For that matter quart jars can be lightly air-sealed with one of those devices.
