I have recently acquired another JMB design. This particular gun's serial number puts it in the 1908-1909 production. It is chambered in 25 auto. Can't wait to shoot it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I just got to spend a little time talking with TN-popo today. Great guy for sure. Enjoyed meeting him and talking about things. Hope to get to spend more time with him talking about things in the future...... :up:3 points

Well, I decided to get it. Not exactly what I was looking for, as I wanted one that was not so nice that I'd have reservations of hunting with it. However, I just thought it was too pretty and priced too well not to get it. It's the Cowboy Limited version in 44 mag. It has the cross bolt safety, but is still a "JM" gun built in North Haven. It came with an assortment of ammo too. Obligatory porn... You cannot say that because a person has a couple of beers that they forfeit their right to defend themselves. That just ain't right. You can say that you cannot carry a handgun in public after you have had a couple of beers. So you have to answer one question (do you feel lucky?) or...Is there anything at Lowes that you need bad enough to risk getting busted over? I don't drink often, but when I do, I stay on the porch. in my boxer shorts, with my western leather rig, singing "Rippy I aye Ki aye!" Which is why I don't drink often....3 points

I concur. I have only met Dralarms and Erik88. After I meet Eric he moved to FL. So I assumed I shouldn't meet anyone else. And if anyone else has met Gerald (dralarms) they understand why I couldn't run him off. LOL2 points

That's going to be pretty hard to get anything into. Even a syringe with wood glue will most likey not penetrate deep enough to really fix the issue. A slow drying cyanoacrylic may seep about as good as anything and would probably work as well as wood glue at this point. I think both wood glue and epoxy will be too thick to be effective. A trip to Woodcraft in Franklin may be worth it. http://www.woodcraft.com/product/149430/instant-bond-ca-adhesive-thin-2oz.aspx2 points

if you are responsible a CC can be a good thing. If you are not responsible then you will have issues. It is pretty simple.2 points

Sam1 is right, does every post in general chat have to turn into a pissing contest? OP was just asking for advice and got a couple different views, why not let him decide what is best for him? People need to lighten up a little, :2cents:2 points

Don't worry about what the "experts" at ARFCOM are saying. For 99% of the users out there these kits are just fine. And for the price if you break a part or two who cares but I suspect you will not have any issues unless you are a really heavy user.2 points

How many magazines do you think you'd like to have? Coming from New York you should give this serious thought. If you're going to be a magazine slut (like say more than 20, and if that is the criteria then I certainly qualify) then consider that Glock factory mags are some of the least expensive out there. You can get new ones for $20 and police trade-ins for around $15. The new Magpul Glock mags are also $15. Ergonomical issues can be dealt with through practice (which you should be doing a lot of anyway). Cost of ownership never goes away.2 points

And you are TOTALLY missing the point of the conversation. Over and over. You have a CHOICE when it comes to credit. You can choose to extend yourself and get into debt. Or you can be a millionaire (my parents) and get tons of free stuff at no expense to you, simply for using plastic instead of carrying around $15k in cash all the time. (I have a funny story of Dad paying for a pair of jetskis in small bills because the salesman pissed him off. Took dude almost 2 hrs to count it all, haha!) Sure, you don't NEED a credit card to pay for airplane tickets. You can pay in cash or check. Some folks, who are smart enough to realize and use the advantages afforded to them at no cost simply don't have to pay for them. At. All. Before GM put low limits on their cash rebates towards vehicles, my Dad regularly got anywhere from another $3k-7k off the new Tahoe he bought with cash every 2 years, simply for using a GM card for his business expenses. He did not buy things he shouldn't have because he had a credit card, he simply used that instead of cash or check whenever he gassed up work vehicles, bought tools or meals. He needed gas, tools, and food regardless of the payment method. You can enjoy an aversion to credit, but facts are facts. You keep saying that if you use a credit card you are paying interest. Do you understand that that is not necessarily true? If I buy $1k worth of stuff, and then pay my card off in full within the usual 20-30 days from the statement date, I only pay them the $1k. Nothing more. That is the key to the whole mystery. As for the 20% downpayment for a house: congrats! That's great! Very happy you had the ability to do that! When my wife and I bought our house one year after college, we did not have almost $40k in the bank for a down payment. What we did have were excellent credit histories and solid jobs at the time. We got a rate just one quarter of one percent over prime. An excellent rate no matter your financial situation. As rates came down we refinanced again, and now to a 15 year loan and are shaving quite a bit off the back of that as well. Our cars are also paid for. The breakdown in this logic that credit causes debt is just as blatant as the sad, pathetic, and just plain stupid idea that Moms Demand Action and their ilk push... they say guns cause crime, and if we remove guns from people, crime will stop. The FBI proves that to be a lie. It is generally the IMPROPER USE of guns by people who should not have them in the first place that causes nearly all firearm crime. Similarly it is the IMPROPER USE of credit by people who are ill-equipped to handle the responsibility or by people who just shouldn't have it at all that gets people in debt. (Housing crisis, anyone?) Greed, instant gratification, sometimes a feeling of hopelessness and a lack of understanding of compound interest are the problems. Not available credit. Credit cards are tools just like firearms, hammers, and cars. Making mistakes with any of them can cost you. I won't call anyone a fool who properly uses a hammer.2 points

Yes, don't worry about what interest they are charging you. Worry about what benefits they are giving you. If your intention is to ever carry a balance then you shouldn't have one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Get a credit card with no fees and pay it off every month. Doesn't matter who you get it from as interest rates are irrelevant if you read the first sentence. If you need a limit, you don't need a card, but tell the CC company of your choice and what you want.2 points

If you are reffering to the first link, that is basically 100% exactly what you asked for. It is a financial website that compaires checking accounts, savings accounts, financial acocunts, and credit cards. If you are reffering to the second link, pardon me if I thought I would spend a bit of my time typing up a detailed way that anyone on TGO with an iPhone 6 and a Discover Card could get 10% back. Seeing as you are technically proficient, I assumed there is a 50/50 chance you have an iPhone (iPhone vs. Android, etc). If you were eligible for it I really didn't think you'd find better than 10% cashback on some purchases. It might not get you there but neither will a job. Just like a job, car, gun, etc, a credit card is a tool. If used intelligently credit cards are great. Lets pretend that you are anti-credit card. Lets say you have $3,000 in your checking account. Lets say that someone skims your card number at the atm/gas pump. Lets say that they then withdraw every penny of your money, leaving you with $0 in your checking account. Now, lets pretend that everything goes smoothly and they decide that you weren't liable for this. It could still take weeks before you get your money back. What about bills that are due during that time period? With a credit card (and trust me, it happened to me because someone stole my Discover Card and purchased an account at Christianmingle.com), if someone steals your card number and makes purchases, you are not liable. Discover contacted me that night telling me something was weird and to call them. I called them, was informed that just an hour ago someone created an account at Christianmingle.com, asking if I did that. I told them no I did not. They canceled the card number and sent me a new one overnight. Sure, I had to swap a few automatic bill pays to the new card number. There is no way jose that it would have been that easy had they stolen a debit card number and actually stolen all of your money in your account. I'm just a huge proponent of credit cards. I understand that some people cannot use them responsibly. However, if you want to be responible then get a credit card and use it responsibly. There are too many benifits to using a credit card not to have one.2 points

My boss was denied a few years ago but the appeal cleared it up because he used his first name William instead of Billy. Billy is how he is listed on Social Security and that was all it took for the denial. Once he faxed them the correction he was good to go.1 point

Seems the perfect payback for that is to take money from them then, like I do to CitiBank. They've coughed up 200-700 clams a year to me for decades. :) - OS1 point

Psa premium kits offer the same fn barrels that the big names use in their builds so I have a hard time understanding why the snobs think my psa is junk. Lol1 point

As Dolo said, don't pay too much attention to the "experts" over on arfcom. Most of them believe if your weapon doesn't have Daniel Defense, BCM, Larue, KAC or similar stamped on the side it's not worth having. For 90% of all Americans, a PSA built weapon will do everything the aforementioned brands will. For the 10% who actually use their weapons hard, sure spending the extra money is plenty justified. I myself prefer to build my AR's and use quality parts such as those that might come on those $2k guns mentioned above, and save myself from paying their labor and logo costs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I thought the thread was fairly civil, myself. While a couple of posts (mine included) didn't directly answer "what's the best credit card", it would be like someone posting and asking "how do I make my own bungee jumping rope". I have to think someone would step in and mention that maybe there are more preferable ways to go about getting bungee jumping equipment than making it in your garage. In more relatable terms, it's like any thread here where someone says "I'm intersected in XYZ carry gun" and then a discussion of XYZ vs four other similar guns takes place.1 point

I had a friend looking for a 15" slim handguard, so when I saw those Matrix Arms handguards this morning, I sent him the link. I was a little late (2 weeks, LOL). He already bought one of these and says they are solid as a brick bat, despite the low price. http://www.omegamanufacturinginc.com/Omega-Mfg-AR-15-Key-Mod-KeyMod-Free-Float-15-Extended-Rifle-Length-Handguard-Rail_p_518.html1 point

That's a great site. I found that when I was getting ready to install our aquarium. It sits about 12" from a load bearing exterior wall, but I put support like this directly under it anyway, just because I'm anal like that. It wasn't the easiest thing to do in my 30" crawlspace, but it was a lot easier than fixing it once it's sagged.1 point

I have had an idea in mind for a while now using an old, used trash can. Use the bottom third or half for storage of some items you want to "hide in plain sight" like a store of ammo or communications equipment or an emergency fund. Then on top pile scrap wood or other non-organic garage scrap, chunks of drywall etc. Tuck it away in your garage or basement. If someone breaks in to your house, it is likely they won't pillage the old trash can with all the junk and you will at least have some ammo as back up in a worst case scenario. I have done something similar to this technique but using old paint cans. I put layers of ammo in the cans, then put a piece of cardboard on top of the ammo and then piled old screws and nails on top.1 point

We had our first "cold" snap and it has already started. As I am sure everyone has seen this, the winter months tend to shorten men's fuses when we cannot get out as much. And when our fuses get shorter our responses get longer and sometimes we say things with the intent of hurting our fellow members. Remember, we are a large family but a family none the less and that we all came here because of common ground. Every single one of us has something in common with everyone else here so lets try to find a little more common ground rather than try to figure out our differences. And in doing so lets try to be a little more tolerant of our fellow members. Right now we, as Americans and gun owners, are in some very stressful times so now is the time to support one another if for nothing else than to help ourselves make it through the times we are in. We MUST come together for the good of us all and that is just not possible when we are bickering among ourselves. How can we all stand united, as Americans and gun owners, when we are trying to find the differences? So I ask for anyone involved in a heated discussion to step away from your computer for a few minutes and then reread your post before hitting submit. It might save the edit to fix that misspelled word you missed the first time as well as hopefully preventing someone from posting something they might regret. Thanks1 point

I tried desperately to get my kids to call my in-laws meemaw and peepaw. Mostly to annoy my mother-in-law. She decided before they even arrived that she was going to be picky about what they called her, and that bugged me. Alas I was unsuccessful, but I gave it a good try. :D My parents and my Father-in-law couldn't care less, "I don't care what they call me as long as they call me."1 point

What they said, get a "no fee" card or two and pay the balance in full every time without fail. It's not a credit card, it's a convenience card. As in, you have the cash, just not on your person. I've had the same credit card for 25 years and have never paid a penny in interest. Get all your power, water, phone, TV, Internet, etc. all in your name, and pay the bills on time every month.1 point

Compared to driving in San Diego, I hate most Tennessee drivers. I hated the grid lock in California but when traffic flowed everyone did 90+ mph on the interstates. Out here half the people are running 10 over, the other half are running 5 under. And way to many of them feel the need to ride the left lane or block you in because they feel the need to play speed patrol and slow you down for your own safety. I will say I've driven and ridden all over the country and there is nothing like running 90 in a turbo WRX on I-5 and it 9 lanes wide on each side, plus car pool lanes, and traffic almost bumper to bumper at those speeds. If you wanna crank the adrenaline even more do it on a beefed up bike made to lane split. Sent from the backwoods1 point
