11.   I know of no case law, federal or state of TN, where conviction for such would be found without direct proof of knowledge of such.   That's why stings always include, "hey I don't live in your state, but...", or "I can't buy a gun from a dealer, but", or "I'm only 17, but..."     Well, federal includes "reasonable cause to believe", so it's a bit more wiggle room for prosecution. As far as the minor part, TN law requires "Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly", so I suppose "recklessly" might be about the same as "reasonable cause to believe".   But as per above comment, AFAIK burden of proof is about the same for both cases.   - OS

 12. Watched an episode of Vice last night on HBO with POTUS in a federal prison talking to inmates about mandatory minimums, pleading out and their situation in general.   Was one of the most respectable moments I've seen of him in 6 years. Story led into what happens after prison and precisely the situation that the guy in this video ended up in.  People fuck up sometimes and now they are punished for life.  POTUS brought up that thing about people not being able to ask if you were a criminal on applications, but allowing it during an interview, because most ex-cons are shut out of the opportunity from the get go as soon as they check off that box on the application.  At least this way, they have a chance to explain during an interview.

 13. I think a lot of people buy them just as a status symbol and not for the real reason for which they were made. I have a guy across the street from my place that has a black Hummer. I am thinking that what he paid for the tires and wheels he had put on it could pay for a great college education in many colleges. I have never seen it dirty or driven in the rain..................

 19.   Over a Year later and I am now convinced more than ever that this zombie thread is the Revenge of TankerHC!   And for those newer members to TGO..., TankerHC was a flaming A-Hole who just didn't know when to back away from the keyboard.  The SOB would private message you and attack your thread comments.   Then came "The Rapture" where TGO David banished TankerHC to pre-tribulation where he now experiences hardships, disasters, famine, war, pain, and suffering.   And forthwith Peace came upon TGO.    And civil discussions on firearms and the topics of the day resumed......    ...... which gets me back on topic.   I'm not a big fan of cheap 1911s.

 20. My father passed away a couple of months ago, and he had a few guns that my mother wanted me to take. He did not have a large collections, and I have no idea of the worth of the ones he did have. However, here are a couple that are "priceless" to me. S&W 38. I'm not sure what the actual model is. Dad always said it was a Chief's Special. It was my grandfather's gun, and dad said he bought it the first year they came out with the nickel guns in this model, whatever it is. I have no idea if that story and description is accurate. I'm sure I can date it with the serial number. This is the first gun I ever shot, and it was without ear plugs. I think I still suffer from that. Remington 512 Sportsmaster. I have not seen a serial number on this gun, but I have not pulled the stock off or anything to look real hard. The story on this gun is that my grandfather was a car dealer in Clarksdale MS and Paris TN. Apparently, he did some work on this old man's car who couldn't pay. My grandfather would have just done it for free, but back in those days, honest people didn't want a hand out. This rifle was the only thing of any value that this man had to offer in trade. According to my father, it looked like hell and wasn't worth anything close to the cost of the work, but my grandfather took more out of respect for the other man. My father was in junior high or high school at the time, and my grandfather just gave the gun to him. He took the gun to school to refinish the stock in shop class. Nothing has been done with the metal, and it looks like a typical old gun of that era. I, of course, would trade these guns in a blink of an eye to have my dad back, but since that will never happen, I will be proud to have them and cherish them and hopefully pass them along to my own child one day.

 27. I just feel compelled to reply to this thread since it is a piece of TGO history.  And for the record, I have a feeling that the OP was guilty of not letting the truth get in the way of a good story.  Multiple promises of pictures and video, complaints to Bud's, and then decides to keep it because it took him a couple of weeks to get around to sending it back?  I call BS on it.

 35. A woman meets a man in a bar. They talk; they connect; they end up leaving together. They get back to his place, And as he shows her around his apartment, she notices that one wall of his bedroom is Completely filled with soft, sweet, cuddly teddy bears. There are three shelves in the bedroom, With hundreds and hundreds of cute,Cuddly teddy bears carefully placed in rows, covering the entire wall! It was obvious that he had taken Quite some time to lovingly arrange them And she was immediately touched by the amount of thought he had put into organizing the display There were small bears all along the bottom shelf, Medium-sized bears covering the length of the middle shelf, And huge, enormous bears running all the way along the top shelf. She found it strange for an obviously masculine guy To have such a large collection of Teddy Bears, She is quite impressed by his Sensitive side. But doesn't mention this to him. They share a bottle of wine and continue talking and, After a while, she finds herself thinking, 'Oh my God! Maybe, this guy could be the one! Maybe he could be the future Father of my children?' She turns to him and kisses him Lightly on the lips He responds warmly They continue to kiss, the passion builds, And he romantically lifts her in his arms and carries her into his bedroom Where they rip off each others clothes and make hot, steamy love. She is so overwhelmed that she responds with more passion, More creativity, more heat than she has ever known. After an intense, explosive night of raw passion with this sensitive guy, They are lying there together in the afterglow. The woman rolls over, gently strokes his chest and asks coyly, 'Well, how was it?' The guy gently smiles at her, Strokes her cheek, looks deeply into her eyes and says: 'Help yourself to any prize from the middle shelf'

 37. Let me preface this with the statement that when the SHTF and society collapses, alcohol as a beverage is very likely to once again become a form of currency just as it was in the old days.  Anyone who does even a casual bit of reading about the history of distilling spirits will quickly note how many ministers distilled bourbon and whiskey back in those times.  It was to keep their families financially solvent; no man needs that much whiskey for himself.  :)   So, framed in those terms, I'd absolutely become a student of how to distill my own alcohol for drinking and medicinal purposes also as a survival tool.  Learning doesn't have to mean doing either, and learning is still legal.   But back to your stated purposes... that's pretty cool.  :)

 38. I once found a map with the Ocean's voyage, but can't find it right now. I've had a bottle of several of the voyages, some definitely better than others, but a pretty reliable pour. I do think for the price (at least what I've paid; ~$75-90) there are bourbons I'd rather have over it, but I've bought a bottle of the last few releases, so I obviously don't hate it. 39.   Nope. Its not a bad thing. The Catholic Church has many enemies, most of those are historical with long detailed histories. It also cannot continue to flourish in this country as it once did without an influx of the faithful What's the most rapidly growing Roman Catholic racial group in this country? There are mutually beneficial needs between the two and with the enormous influx of illegal Hispanic's a symbiotic relationship. Nothing sinister but an opportunity none the less.

 40. If illegals are given amnesty (I bet that will be citizenship) and allowed to vote; another Republican will never be elected. It is beyond me how anyone can’t see that people coming here illegally for our social welfare programs will run up a bill that we (Taxpayers) can’t pay.

 41. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/55c9fbb9e4b0923c12be0ddb Remove the word illegal and voila, no laws are broken. I am not a xenophobe, were it not for legal immigration in 1916, I wouldn't be here. If immigrants are taught the laws are flexible and selectively enforced, how does that impact assimilation into society and how it could affect next and future generations?
