  1. I think Rosco might have been the best friend I've ever had, and he was just a little firecracker of black and brindle colored happiness. No one knew where he came from. No one knew how old he was. No one knew what breed he was. And it never mattered. He was probably at least 2 or 3 years old when he came to us around 10 or 11 years ago. He passed away this morning. I guess the neighbors may have wondered today why a 49 year old man was out in the back yard sobbing. But I ain't ashamed of it. Because I dearly loved that little feller, and I ain't ashamed of that either. My boys came home and helped me give him the proper and respectful burial he deserved right here at home. I have absolutely no complaints about him. He was one of the greatest blessings that God has ever given me. In the words of men from long ago that I have great admiration for: He would do to ride the river with. Rosco was faithful and true, and he will be forever missed and loved.

  2. I am sorry to hear of your loss. But you know, something sent Rosco your way all those years ago. He was probably out, lonely and alone and without a friend in the world, and he went to the right place to be loved, taken care of and, when the time came, missed. I would say his life was a whole lot better - and longer - for having found you. I think I might have related this, before, but even Napoleon is said to have commented on the loyalty of a good dog. The story goes that he was on the battlefield one day after a battle and came upon a dog whining, maybe even howling, over the corpse of its master. Obviously the dog had accompanied the young soldier into battle and had been there when the man fell. Napoleon commented that surely there were other people from the same town or village as the fallen soldier who were around when he died. Some of those people, in Napoleon's mind, had probably known him - probably had been friends or even kin. And yet, here he lay on the battlefield alone and deserted by all except for one, loyal companion - his dog. In closing out the tale, Napoleon commented that he had knowingly and without regret made decisions that meant men going to their deaths in battle and yet he was moved to tears by the love, loyalty and grief of a simple dog. If a stranger's dog can make Napoleon cry then you certainly have nothing to be ashamed of in shedding tears for your friend, Rosco.

  3. A committee of the UT Board of Trustees today approved a $340 million renovation project for Neyland Stadium to begin next summer. In other words, there is enough money to equip the entire coaching staff with Sabans. Money is not at issue at UT.

  4. If it has a stock and the barrel is under 16" or it is under 26" overall length then it is a "short barrel rifle" . NFA registration required. If it has a stock and the barrel is at least 16" and it is at least 26" overall length then it is a "rifle". If it has an overall length under 26" and it does not have a stock it is a "pistol". It continues to be a pistol with or without a brace or buffer tube. Adding a VFG to a "pistol" makes it an "any other weapon". NFA registration required. If it has an overall length of at least 26" and does not have a stock it may also be something other than a "pistol". Why 26" is important is because you can now legally add a vertical forward grip without making a " pistol" into an "any other weapon". Basically a "firearm" is a "pistol" (no stock) that can legally have a vertical forward grip. Barrel length does not matter either with a "firearm". You measure with the stock extended and to the end of the muzzle. Do not include the muzzle device unless it is permanently attached. Pretty sure these are the basics, my head hurts.

  6. Sorry to hear of your loss. I always heard that the outside of a horse was good for the inside of a man. I think it's also true of a dog.

  7. Bersaguy, I really wanted to extend condolences to you when you posted that. I could not bring myself to type it in. I think it was because I knew this was coming. Thank you all. It is very much appreciated.

  8. My condolences. Cried many times over a dog and will again. Not many words can help, but be grateful for the time you had. He will be waiting on the other side.

  12. Yup, good summation. The "Roni-Stab" config is still a pistol. The "Roni M4 Stock" of course is a SBR. The additional consideration here is that once the Glock is registered as SBR, it remains SBR forever any time there is a short barrel on it, same as any other SBR receiver. The "Longer Virsion" (sic) simply converts to a non-NFA rifle. And since the Glock of course did not begin life as a rifle, perfectly legal, and it can go back and forth between normal GCA rifle and handgun at will. - OS

  14. The police do know that criminals come turn in broken guns or ones with a body count then trade the gift cards for another cheap gun, right? I guess it makes them look good to the general public while making no real difference.

  32. Here's a pair you don't get to see everyday. The one on the left started off as a Henry H001, now I refer to it as the "Damascus Boy". It's had the large lever loop and fiber optic sight added, the marvel was cut to 16.25" and threaded, mag tube was all cut to work with the Huntertown Guardian suppressor, and cerakoted to match parkerizing with a Damascus pattern on the receiver. The one on the right is a Marlin 336 pre safety that's been cut down to 16.25" and threaded. It's had the irons removed, added a polymer stock set, large loop lever cerakoted in various "tactical" colors and it now wears a Leupold Mark AR. It's sporting a YHM Phantom direct thread can.

  38. This is a YHM direct thread stainless Phantom .30 cal on a Marlin 336 30-30. The other firearms the suppressor will get attached to is an AR and a Handi-Rifle, both in 300BO. This one is a Huntertown Arms Guardian .22 cal on a Savage Mark II FV-SR. Other firearms the suppressor will get mounted to is 2x 1911-22 Colts and a Ruger 10/22. Both are a blast to shoot, I've been stocking up on .22lr subs and reloading sub 300BO ever since I got them.
