  4. Any gun really. I don’t even know what I want. Ever have those times that you have gun money burning a hole in your pocket and you can’t really find anything? It’s a sickness that comes with withdrawals. That is all….

  5. You can be trespassed for no reason at all and show me a reasonable anti gunner who will be reasonable if you are caught carrying, on their property, against their wishes. I would not care to be trespassed from an anti gun establishment but I don't want to be either. I also have a serious problem with people going against a property owner's wishes for their own gain more than anything. They don't want you carrying a gun there but you thumb your nose at their wishes because you think your privilege of carrying a firearm trumps their right to use their property how they wish. It is like random people coming on your property and as long as you don't catch them I guess it is ok. I don't want anyone on my property doing anything against my will and on that issue I will 100% stand with the anti gun establishments because I believe their property owner's rights trump anyone's misconceived right to carry a firearm on that property. Someone's is going to say public access, public property, yada-yada-yada. Still doesn't matter. In the same way you can't say what you want in a public business you cannot do what you want either, unless the owner/operator allows it. We have a right to self defense but we do not have the right to use any tool we want unless the property owner allows it. As I have said before, if a property owner requires you to wear a pink tutu and carry a Nerf gun on their property, you abide or don't enter. That doesn't change just because the item you are carrying does. Just because the consequences are acceptable to you still doesn't change the fact you violated someone's right with your want. I guess it is OK if a rapist rapes a family member as long as the rapist OK with the consequences. Forcing yourself, and your wishes, onto someone else is wrong no matter the reason or where it is. I am as pro gun as anyone here but a property owner's right trumps anything a guest might think they have.

  9. I like my idea best!!!!! If I approach a store or business of any type and they have any kind of signage of any type against firearms not allowed I turn around and go find a store with the same products I was wanting to buy and do business with them. I don't want any person of company to have 1 dime of my money that does not feel the same as I do about my freedoms according to the Constitution and state and local laws................JMHO

  10. First, the key fact that everybody here seems to forget, we know of only a few cases where permit holders have been charged for violating 39-17-1359 and ALL of the known cases involve carrying firearms into the secure area of an airport. Second, violation has been changed to a class B misdemeanor with a fine only, so if you're found guilty you're not facing any jail time, you're not facing loss of your permit, you're facing a $500 fine. I highly doubt you'd even get arrested, just cited and told to leave. Obviously I'm not recommending knowingly committing a crime. While I won't spend money in a business that is posted, there are times that I'm forced to carry into 'unfriendly' territory, and will carry past a sign that doesn't comply with the statue, or use an entrance that isn't posted. I carry concealed, and nobody is the wiser. If I get caught and charged, I probably won't hire an attorney, $500 isn't much more than a very bad speeding ticket money wise, and I think I could properly put together a motion to dismiss and argue the legislative intent was clear, any sign that fails to standards set out in the law were meant to be unenforceable. If not I write a check for $500 and have a great story to tell. If some employee comes up and asks you to leave, then leave. If some officer walks up to you and tells you to leave, apologize, tell him you have a HCP and didn't see a valid sign, then offer to leave. I seriously doubt you'd find many officers who are going to try and make a case out of it when you act reasonably to resolve the situation.

  11. The FK BRNO is a new pistol that will be imported for the first time in February. The say it is a new and unique concept and design and fires a proprietary cartridge, the 7.5 FK. The Field Pistol is a sporting pistol designed primarily to be used in long-range competitions, silhouette shooting, hunting, and generally any pistol shooting activity and tasks that requires the ability to engage targets at longer ranges, especially with a folding stock , such as (PSD) personal security detail, urban / suburban combat, backup (SBR) short barrel rifle, Air crew survival weapon, mechanised armour crew weapon, among other uses. Of course adding a folding stock requires a tax stamp. It is guaranteed to shoot less than 100x100mm at 100m. That is under a 4" group at 100m. Muzzle velocity is 2000fps with 880 ft/lbs and at 100m is still 1525fps and 520 ft/lbs. There are some interesting videos on their website. They take some large animals (200-320lbs) and do ballistic gel testing. Pretty impressive results. Now for the bad news. There is only one company that is going to import these. There will only be 1001 6" Field Pistols made for the US. The first order of 100 is almost all spoken for. They are accepting refundable deposits of $2500 to reserve a pistol. Price for the pistol is $7500. The ammo is 77.50 for a box of 50 95 gr hp. Don't know why but I really want one of these. If you see me posting a lot of toys for sale on here you will know I have finally lost my mind. lol. https://www.fkbrno.com/the-pistol-7-5

  12. I'm hosting this course, but I have no financial interest in it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm hosting Dave Spaulding of Handgun Combatives for his Adaptive Combat Pistol class on 4/21-22 in Watkinsville. The cost is $425. The round count is 600. Course Description: Its not the person with the fastest draw or can shoot the tightest groups that will win a gunfight. It’s the person with a solid set of essential skills and the ability to recognize a rapidly unfolding situation and adapt accordingly. This course will review essential combat shooting skills and will then add skills that are not normally found in a basic square range course. Use of cover, unconventional shooting positions, multiple target engagement, one hand shooting/manipulation and decision making/cognition drills skills will be emphasized. Adaptation is the key to prevailing in a situation where you life is on the line and this course will help bolster those skills. Register at the Handgun Combatives web page under the "upcoming classes" section, or you can mail payment to Mr. Spaulding. The address is on his web page.

  17. Thanks for posting Deputy Weems. I appreciate the muzzle aversion, especially with the "competition" pressure of a man on man shoot. Keeping our training and practice oriented towards a 3D real world is a must. And...it looks like it'd fun as well.

  22. I searched and found a few old threads, but nothing definitive. I recently decided to drop a small chunk of change into silver. It wasn't pocket change, but it wasn't a massive amount either. I haven't invested in something like this before. I normally collect toys like guitars and guns, so a new hobby like this seems fun. JM Bullion was running a deal where you get 10oz of Silver Rounds at spot. I got that and some other stuff to add to it. I can't say exactly why I did it. Sure, if SHTF silver will probably be more reliable for purchasing until things stabilize. It might be neat to pass on to grandkids or something many years down the road. If prices ever skyrocket on silver for a day or two I might make a couple of bucks selling it at spot. I can sit alone in my office in the floor and roll around in all of it... Sure, it isn't as useful as my guns or guitars, but I think it is neat to have, and my wife didn't complain one lick about it. Which I am certain is a trap. But then again, it is shiny, and she is a woman.

  23. No, I'm saying that the -1 is various models made over 15 years; not just one model and not just one barrel length.

  24. A 60-1 is a very rare 3” model. I have a non pinned 60 no dash made in 1983. The no dash models ran from the begging all the way until about 87. A mint in box, pinned 60 no dash is probably worth up to $650. One without the box and with signs of minor carry wear is probably worth as much as $450. The j frame market has went down some over the last two years. I am seeing lots of nolock j frames for around $350 right now.

  25. I really like that Sig. They make excellent guns and the 10mm is a good shooter. I’m guessing those hats are no longer available???

  26. A "no dash" should have a pinned barrel, a -1 won’t. Stainless J-frames Pre-Locks are very desirable.

  27. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Lot of stupid there to go around. I am hoping there is more to the story but thinking not. At minimum the hcp guy should have to go through a lot of retraining before he regains his permit in my opinion.

  28. If I’m reading the story right the shoplifter pulled a gun and pointed it at him. At the point a gun is pulled it’s not a shoplifting case anymore, and it doesn’t matter WHY he was approaching the guy. I would have shot him if I thought I could get off a shot off before he could shoot me. But yea, I wouldn’t stop them. If Wal-Mart won’t stop shoplifters I certainly wouldn’t get involved. The shoplifter with a gun was a violent criminal and the citizen was just doing what he thought was right. Whether it’s something we would have done or not; he did it and I support him. I just hope some overzealous gun hating DA doesn’t decide to charge him with something. If I’m reading the story wrong and a HCP holder pulled a gun to shop a shoplifter; I apologize.

  30. That serial number puts it between 1974 & 1977. I would think it would probably be 1977 as that year ended with serial number R1900000. But only a S&W letter can say for sure. It should be a Model 60-1. Best guess on value with box and in excellent condition would be about $400-450.

  34. I’ve done it as well. It was on a rifle I still have, have no intention of selling. I didn’t want to disturb a reliable, well functioning gas system and needed a very low profile to fit under a very narrow handguard. While a close inspection would reveal the difference in finish, the cold blue I used has kept it corrosion free for going on 5 years or so. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again if appropriate for the job at hand. That’s the real problem with the bubbas of the world, determining when it’s appropriate to do something and then doing it well.

  35. I'm all for standing up to bullies. It worked for decades. I'm just pointing out that thanks to zero tolerance policies you are just as likely to end up in a world of trouble as the bully. My friend was a SRO at a local elementary school and told me about taking kids that young to jail for fighting. It's ridiculous.
    1 point
  36. Here is my personal belief about the root cause of this: Bullying has been a thing for as long as there has been diversity in the human gene pool. Person One has always felt that it was fine to subjugate Person Two because Person One viewed themselves as being the stronger, more popular, smarter, wealthier, powerful, valuable or otherwise more advantaged than Person Two, or just because Person Two was different in some way and Person One was able to think of them as being "less than". Only two forces have ever kept that in check: Morals and ethics based in a belief of Right and Wrong, typically rooted in and codified in a religious belief system. The threat of repercussion, typically dealt out by an authority figure. I believe that we have come to a point in society where item #1 (Morals and Ethics based in a belief of Right and Wrong, especially rooted in a religious belief system) are on the decline and where people who hold to those values either already are in the minority or are trending towards being the minority very soon. I also believe that item #2 (the fear of repercussion from the Law or an authority figure) is just as rapidly eroding. There is very little respect for the Law these days, or for Law Officers or for Teachers or Parents or any other authority figure. Lacking the moral compass of item #1 and the fear of repercussion of item #2, a person can be expected to have no boundaries for what behavior they feel is acceptable. And consequently we have bullies who will bully without remorse and we have victims of bullying who will unpredictably resort to any possible form of retaliation to cease the bullying and exact revenge upon the bully. None of this justifies anything. It's just a description of the hand basket we're all in as we slip and slide down the slope toward Hell and anarchy. Parents, Adults... teach your kids that life isn't fair. Teach them that it sucks, that there are winners and losers and you can't always be the former. More importantly, teach them how to be a loser with dignity and a winner with compassion. Teach them that people can be cruel but that you don't have to let their cruelty define you, and that nothing excuses you to be a murdering asshole. Raise children with tough skin but sensitive hearts and equip them with a moral compass. Show them how to deal with anger productively.

  37. I hit some bullies in the face when I was young. I got the same beating as them from the teacher types, because it always turned into a fight (for some reason). I guess you would probably get expelled these days. Good thing I'm old. I would do it again. Best medicine for a bully is the sight of his own blood.
    1 point
  38. Sorry, but being bullied does not give him any excuse for something like this. I can see punching out one doing the bullying, but shooting up the school is not any way to go about fixing anything. As I recall, there has always been some sort of bullying going on in school, but you just didn't have this "everyone is a winner" generation then, so they had to either suck it up or confront their bullies. We as a society have become too soft, and get our feeling hurt way too easily.
    1 point
  39. Nothing excuses this behavior! It is a failure of all involved that someone gets that close to the edge and no one steps up to assist. What a society we have become!

  41. Regardless of what the sign says or even if there is a sign you cannot carry on someone else's property against their permission. The property owner can dictate what conditions must be met in order to be on their property. They can say only Nerf guns are allowed or that you must wear a pink tutu and you must abide by their wishes if you want to enter. Property owner rights trump any rights a visitor might think they have on the property, including the right to free speech.

  42. I'd want to see some measured data there. That sounds great in a marketing piece - but Newton still has to sign off. And, he's a jerk...

  43. Just because someone retires doesn’t mean they are cut off or have no friends still in the industry. And someone who had spent their lifetime in an industry does so because they enjoy it, not because it is just a job to them. I was in government contracting for only three years but I still talk to friends about the industry regularly 10 years later. If we continue to minimize and blow off potential attacks to our freedoms we have no hope of success. Our representatives are not pro 2A, they are unwilling to do anything for us despite being able to make more advancements than we have ever seen. And a lot of my fellow members are perfectly fine with letting our gun rights be taken, without objection, so long as what is being taken isn't being taken out of their own safe. I would trust this guy more than the NRA to advise on ATF matters. The NRA has helped most of the anti gun legislation get passed in the last 50 years.

  45. CalRW&B, who is the maker of your carbine? You prob already know, they were made in the millions; Inland (a division of General Motors) was the largest maker; and the companies contracted to make them were a really diverse lot. I.e. IBM, Rockola, etc. If your new toy was made by someone other than Inland, you may want to research it, and depending on rarity, possibly limit the shooting and buy a more common version for a shooter. They are not only terrific fun and have home defense value, they're great for introducing new shooters to our sport. (After suitable training with a single round loaded, of course. [smiley]) Also, for an everyday shooter, there are some decent re-creations being produced. Enjoy!

  46. I liked my first one so much, I got a second one for a designated shooter. Easy to operate and maintain. Cleaning is a breeze. Fun and satisfying to shoot. I would recommend the 15 round mags, the full(er) 30s can sag without a type 3(?) Mag release. Ammo can be found on the shelf, but expect a price point in excess of .50/Rd Nice selection of varmint and self / home defense rounds available from Speer, Hornady, and others. Lots of on line resources with a simple Google search. Congrats on a cool piece of modern history
