  1. I generally like legislation that makes carrying available for more people, but in this case I have to say screw you, Mo Brooks! What makes him and his legislature buddies so special that they'll get to carry, but the Plebeians of Washington D.C. still can't lawfully defend themselves? He cites " Washington, D.C.'s rather restrictive gun laws " Then rescind those laws for everyone.

  3. I recently picked up a .45 Shield as well, and I have to agree with you, Steelharp - this is a fantastic little gun! I find that it shoots almost as accurately as my 1911 commanders, and that's saying something. The recoil is *much* less than it should be for a small, polymer .45 - noticeably less than my XDs .45 with a 4" barrel. And I absolutely love the aggressive grip texturing! No doubt, this one's a keeper!

  4. If you don't get a baffle strike, I'd say it was a fair price and money well spent.

  5. The only reason I know of people removing bolts is as some kind of security measure, you know less tempting to those who might have sticky fingers. Being the suspicious type I would be very suspicious of a rifle without its bolt for $40.

  6. I bit the bullet and I bought my first 74! Arsenal SLR104-UR By this time next year, I will have my rifle back from Rifle Dynamics with the following work completed. - Cut + crown barrel to 8" - Custom porting to optimally run my Dead Air Wolverine PBS-1 suppressor - Tune recoil system - Norrels Moly-Resin flat back finish - UltiMAK M13 Krink Rail - ALG AKT-EL - Bulgarian triangle stock Once I have the rifle back in my possession, I will drop a Aimpoint T2 + a Surefire M300 Scout Light into a Haley Strategic Thorntail SBR light mount. My rifle will look very similar to my friends (9minded on Instagram) RD 104UR. The key difference between our builds is a 8" barrel chop + Wolverine PBS-1 versus 9" barrel chop with a Dead Air QD mount to run his Sandman S. Aside from that, our rifles will be identical.

  7. I could see a lack of AIS causing a problem for another civilian ship.....at night.....maybe. But for one of our highly sophisticated military vessels to not know that ship was there, AIS or not..... no way. Heads and careers should roll, lives were lost and significant damage done for no reason other that incompetence.

  8. Just being in the vicinity of a Cracker Barrel gives me the trots and I've got an iron gut. Their geegaws hanging on the walls would be the last thing I'd be on the hunt for.

  9. Had to waited around at a Cracker Barrel today. Anyone else noticed how many useful things they have hung from the walls and ceiling? I know most would need a good oiling or sharpening, but axes, pitchforks, scythe, and knives are there. Plus a ton of churns and other "household" items that would be in demand if we reverted to the 19th century. I just think it pays to keep your eyes open. I had looked before, but a lot I used to see there seemed on its last leg or bad reproductions.

  10. Just go to prove the geniuses they have at the Wal-Mart gun counter .... and a good portion of the idiots that buy there. Maybe that bolt did not lodge itself in that guy's face....maybe.

  11. Meh.....sounds a little pricey, but not insane. Next time, I'd inquire about the price before the work is done.

  14. They were ok. It seemed like their PA wasn't optimized for a space as large as the arena, so it sounded muddy to me. But I remember them and like the song above... I've got SiriusXM channels through my Dish service. I run it through my home stereo a lot. I listen mostly to Ozzy's Boneyard just cause I'm old school like that, and the unintelligible screaming from a lot of metal bands doesn't do a thing for me. My boys like it pretty well... The younger one (shown) is known to crank the stereo up when something good is playing and run around the house "air" singing emphatically into something roughly microphone shaped. Future front man material? The older one is in a "50's rock and roll" phase. He loves Elvis, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, ... No complaints from me as I like them too.

  15. Yeah. I bet they were great live. I had a 3 month trial of Sirius XM with my new (to me) car. Liquid Metal had so many bands I never heard anywhere else. Got me a whole new lineup to listen to. Been years since I was able to stay up on music I like instead of the stuff my wife and kids listen to. According to my wife, my music is not kid friendly. Lol

  19. "Stopping Power" is largely a construct created by the FBI and other agencies. Better to have a weapon than have the super stopper 1000mm magnum at home in the safe because you can't carry it! Besides when the bad guy makes a really bad mistake and robs a store full, of armed citizens or off duty LEO's getting shot from multiple directions they are getting what they asked for. I've carried a 22 when circumstances dictated it. Shot placement is more important than anything else...

  29. I've been watching and wondering which way the fence riders would go after this horrific shooting episode. You never know, since the Liberals brainwashing has been really strong. A person could hate the feeling of helplessness in that kind of situation of desperately needing a gun and not having one and still slip on either side. It all comes down to their outlook on what a firearm is. A tool that can be used for protection of self and loved one(s) or an evil entity that should be eradicated. I've read several reports that the GOP members are wanting to protect themselves, which is a power everyone should be allowed to have of course. This leads me to one thing though. They are wanting to be exempt from DC's anti carry laws. I think that if a law exists that those in Washington feel the need to be exempted of, then it's a pretty ####ty law to start with and shouldn't be on the books at all. Sorry for the French, but that is how I feel.

  30. I don't really have a problem with any person in the Congress whether House or Senate that is authorized to carry in their home state being allowed to carry while at work in D.C. Maybe it will do some good because the people (Civilians) can then use it as a reason to have those same privledges be given them. It would be a little hard to tell the people you can't but we can and it hold water..............JMHO

  37. Oh yea, I have done all kinds of research on Hummingbirds and their migration patterns. When I first moved here just for giggles I saw Hummingbird feeders on sale at TSC store here so I bought one and then researched when I should fill it and hang it. Within about a week I had about 4 birds fighting over it so I went and bought another one and it another week I had to go buy another and the first summer I was here I had 6 feeders up and about 40 to 50 birds. I would set in my carport and watch them and there was times I thought I was going to get speared by one chasing another through the carport and I could feel the wind from their wings on my ears. I still enjoy sitting out side watching them but the last couple years I have not had the numbers of birds I did have back 6 or 8 years ago. I am beginning to wonder if the climate changing is having an effect on their migrations? I think the last bumpus year I had of birds was the year before that drought hit the southwest real hard and made it hard on them to find food during their migration. I hope to have more birds this year.................

  38. A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to upgrade to a newer version of the Raven Concealment Phantom holster that I have had for my Glock 19 for about ten years or so. I almost pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on one from RCS when I saw a promotion that Bravo Concealment was doing on their holsters, and opted to try them out instead. I am glad I did. This thing is legitimately as good as any of my RCS Phantoms and was half the cost.

  40. I have been on a tear as of late! I pulled my dream rifle out of layaway in February and I am almost complete with the build. The last piece of the puzzle will be ordered next week. Which is a Knight's Armament Company 762 CQB QDC suppressor in FDE. Knight's Armament Company (KAC) SR-25 EMC - Leupold Optics Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS H27D - BT10-LW17 V8 Atlas Bipod - Magpul ACS-L Stock - Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Grip I went to the Outpost Armory last month to purchase a bipod for my rifle and I walked out with a Romanian SAR-3 instead. Last September, I got the itch to purchase a FAL. I scratched that itch by purchasing an Imbel parts kit + Imbel gear logo receiver. I sent my parts in January to Mark to Arizona Response systems to assemble and refinish my rifle. I received my FAL back from Mark at Arizona Response Systems after patiently waiting nearly 6 months. To say that I am pleased is a gross understatement. His work is first rate and worth every penny. Capitol Armory squared me away on a Surefire SOCOM RC2 5.56 suppressor

  41. I wish I was as comfortable with plastics as I was with live bait and other artificial lures. Maybe I've just never put the time in - or gotten someone like Doug to really teach me what I need to know. It's something I'd love to get more comfortable with.

  43. I use to use minnows all the time for Crappie fish untilta buddy of mine took me one time. I asked him if we were going to stop and get minnows and he said, nope, don't need any. When were got to where we were going to fish he handed me a rod already rigged and it had a Crappie tube bait on it in Black body with chartreuese tails and I no more than got it down in the brush pile before I had a big fat Crappie on. We both caught our limits in keepers in about 1 1/2 hours. Caught a bunch of fish. If they quit biting one color you switched to another. The one I caught most on was the Red Body with Chartruese tails. If you have never tried them you might want to give the a try. You can catch about 8 or 10 fish on 1 tube..............

  44. I like it. I'm not a fan of the AR-style guns. But I like the build of that one. What was the price on that? if you don't mind.

  45. I purchased the Surefire Ryder 22-A suppressor in a moment of weakness. At the time of the purchase, I was waiting for my Dead Air Mask to arrive at my dealer. As you can see, my impatience got the best of me. I am happy that I did or else I would have never given this can a chance. It sits permanently on my Tactical Solutions X-Ring 10/22 rifle. The rifles weighs 4.3 LBS unloaded. Therefore, I wanted a lightweight can for the rifle. I am thoroughly pleased with the can thus far. I would have no issue if you were interested in joining me at the range one day to try the can yourself.
