  1. Well. That title covers a lot of territory doesn't it? Had 2 scheduled checkups and blood draws today. My GP and my Oncologist. I talked with both about the Covid Vaccines and my feelings and health issues relating to whether or not to take it. Interesting conversations from both. Especially the gentleman who actually drew the blood. We covered about everything from the source, the intent, and the possible outcomes of this pandemic. Even got into some of the religion side...Revelation and Mark of the Beast territory. But the core of all this is that my Oncologist's comments were this..."Do it. Do it Now!" You are at major risk. Walking time bomb. Just waiting to be infected. Really said that. Well, it seemed that TnOncology was vaccinating all their patients. And since I was in one office, a call was made and I was quite literally immediately shoved out the door and sent to the one where there were some shots still available. So...in spite of my comments here previously; I received the 1st dose of the Moderna Vaccine today. I do feel rather much a hypocrite right now. But it's done. We shall see what happens.

  4. FWIW...a status update this morning. On the advice of my wife and my doc, I took my regular meds last night and 2 Tylenol just as I hit the bed. I slept like a baby. 7 uninterrupted hours! Unbelievable for me. I hardly every do that. If I do 4, I consider myself wonderfully blessed. Got up with a slight headache, but that's all. No pains, no aches, no fevers. Having my Cheerios and maybe a bagel. So now I'm prepared for our morning meet!

  9. A couple of months ago I sent my G48 slide off to be milled for a Holosun 507k and once I got it zeroed my groups were much better than with open sights. I was amazed at how much easier and faster it was for me to be able to get good hits with the dot. It's my EDC, although after about a day and a half of appendix carry I swapped the extended barrel out for the factory one

  10. Being open to changing one’s mind sure seems wiser than being stubborn even once you decide it is against your own best interest.

  11. Exactly this. Thanks for sharing your experience @hipower.There is nothing wrong with changing your mind.

  17. I’ll go ahead and be the jerk for saying it. The officer’s physical fitness was absolutely a contributing factor in him giving up the fight. I don’t mean that as a personal dig against the officer. I really do hope that he recovers quickly and without any lasting side effects. I don’t even have any criticisms of what led to the encounter. that said, it cannot be denied that his lack of physical conditioning is a clear contributing factor in how things played out. This is some thing that has been weighing on me greatly recently. If I am not physically capable of remaining in the fight due to poor conditioning and lack of stamina, it doesn’t matter how much Gucci gear I have. It doesn’t matter how much training I have. All I’m doing is providing somebody else with some great stuff to pick up off my corpse.

  21. Your doctor knows your situation and, frankly, the worst reactions seem to occur in healthy people with no co-morbidities. That said, if you or anyone else reading this start having severe symptoms in the first 48 hours after the shot, get to ER stat.

  22. Ok I’ll admit when I’m wrong, in that situation he was perfectly within the law to keep firing, I suspect that he couldn’t for some reason. It did sound from the narrative that the damage was already done and she died. the only thing he did wrong was not getting backup when she started squirrely

  23. True, honestly I didn’t watch the video. I’m just tired of everyone second guessing our cops without knowing what the law actually states.

  24. We're in the process of buying a home and we had the inspection today. The house has a finished basement. Part of the inspection involved the inspector probing various parts of the basement with some sort of moisture detection device that goes from 0-100%. One corner of the basement read 96% so there is obviously an issue. It also hasn't rained here in a week or more so that is even more surprising. When checking that corner of the house outside we found the downspout wasn't connected to the drain. They buried one of those black plastic tubes that are so common. So it's clear rain water is just dumping there at the wall of the home. The inspector said he wasn't overly concerned with it and felt that we could fix it by diverting water away from that area. My dad said he wouldn't let it stop him from buying the house. I've never owned a home with a basement so I'm not that experienced with this. The rest of the house was fine. It's been very well taken care of. It's a mix of brick and new hardie board so they clearly have spent money on upkeep. That hardie board isn't cheap. How concerned should I be? The type of deal we offered is a information only inspection. We can't ask them to make repairs. We either buy the house or we walk. Our realtor said we could pay to have a mold test done if I'm real concerned. In his opinion, there are two types of basements. Those that leak and those that will leak.

  27. Was at a local gun shop picking up my Escort BTS 12 the other day and seen this little Steven's for $195 and couldn't pass it up. Been looking for a lighter Turkey gun for those long walks chasing these Mountain birds and that Stevens fit the bill. Got lucky on a bunch of Winchester Super X Turkey loads in 2 3/4 and 3in for $5 a box so that's what I used for sight in. Really wanted some longbeard xr's but can't find any nowhere. But anyway I tried the #4 and #5 shot in both the 2 3/4 and 3in. And with the factory X-Full choke it liked the 2 3/4 better over the 3in. Pattern shown is at 30 yards with the #5 shot in 2 3/4. Put 50 or so shots in the vitals. Wish I could've found a few different types of ammo to try but can't be picky nowadays. All in all I'm happy with that little Steven's, for the money it's hard to beat. Put a full or modified choke in and have a good squirrel gun also.

  28. Wife and I got are second shot on the first no side effects other than a slightly sore arm for less than a day. Since we are in the old as dirt category and most of our friends are in the same category most are now fully vaccinated or partially. We have tried to have picnics in the church parking lot once a week since May. We missed a few weeks this Winter but we are all ready to move on with our normal life.

  33. It looks like they graded it fairly well. The front yard is sloped downhill with the house built into the side of the hill but before water runs into the house they graded a ledge that stops and then diverts it to the sides(in theory). I was feeling comfortable but now I'm starting to get cold feet. I really don't want to have to rip out the sheetrock in the basement to deal with mold. I'm still waiting on the report so I'll wait to see what it says and might order the mold test.

  36. I looked at a 365xl recently, I think the XL slide will only accept the Sig romeoZero and Shield RMS-c directly. Having only read reviews and seen videos I'd go with the Shield dot, it's made of metal and seems more robust than the Sig. However it's also something like twice as expensive if that's a factor. If you go the adapter plate route I'm quite happy with my Holosun 507k.
    1 point
  37. I don’t have a P365XL, but I’m going to make a recommendation anyway because it’s the same recommendation pretty much regardless of pistol. For that size gun, get either a RMRcc, or a Holosun 507k (my choice). Nothing else is durable enough or of sufficient quality to be an EDC optic.

  38. Been going to my daughter's horse farm and started cutting trails through the woods. Great therapy for me. I am trying to look past politics mainly because it depresses me completely and I can do very little about it. Really should quit watching the news also. Sad watching that women's mother on TV about her daughter she lost and not knowing why. Glad they releases the body cam and dash cam evidence. Should stop needless rioting in "The Vill." Just can't shoot a cop and expect to walk away free guys. Really sad for her family, and officer, and prayers for them. Retired and lovinit. Turned 73 last week. Am a Christian, and have done the things, which is required, to put myself into a position to be able to receive God's saving grace, for myself. Can't do that for you guys so you need to find Christ and put yourself into a position to get some of God's grace for yourself. That grace only comes through belief and acceptance of Christ being the Son of God, and confession of God's Son Jesus Christ as your Savior. Then being baptized for your past sins. Read these examples for yourself in your Bible. (Acts 2:37-40). Then read (Acts 8:25-39) for an example of "an Ethiopian Receiving Christ as his savior. Then after this is accomplished, then living a faithful life until your day comes when you will go home to Christ and God who are in heaven after the final white thrown judgment we will all face. You do your part and God and Christ will do theirs. I am confident because I believe God's word revealed to us in the Holy Scriptures. Read that for yourself in your Bible. That what I mean when I said I have put myself into a position to receive God's saving grace, and thereby having faith I will see Them both (God and Jesus) in heaven when my day of final judgment has come. If you have questions I would like to discuss any of this with you, and we both can sit and see what the Scriptures say, or you can simply read your Bible. Nothing freaky about this guys. That good enough Hipower? Freaky Friday chat.

  39. I must admit that many factors went into my feelings on this decision. Really the Doc had more to do with it than anything else. He's treated me since February of 2008, when I was first diagnosed with Leukemia. So his statements carried a lot of weight. But like all, well most of us here. There were and still are so many thing about this Covid situation that just make me pause and think about how it came about. How it's been used to damn near wreck the country and influence or lives. Like you say, the two-faced Fauchi, and all his double-speak gobbldy-gook just make you/me want to scream FRAUD! But I guess only time will give us the answer.

  40. I was just about to comment on the origin, Jamie. lol It's sort of a warning from the past. As for my weekend, since I never(foolishly) got into reloading; a little stuff in the safe needs some looking into. A bit of closet cleanout for the wife and my sanity and safety. She's threatened my over this before. Maybe catch up on SyFy's Resident Alien. If you're not watching this, I can't recommend it enough. It's a HOOT!

  41. Will do. My wife has been to several parts of tennessee so I throw names at her and she yays or nays it for scoping out when we can realistically spend a week actively viewing properties. Kind of tricky in itself with all the coofid stuff, then the CAN/US relations not being the best. Just feels like something is just about to pop somewhere, Weird times.

  46. What will keep TN a great state is the refugees not voting in the same high cost social programs and policies that they are fleeing from. Don't move here and then vote for that same stupid sh*t here. Thanks for sharing the gun policies of Canada, yes, you would like it here. Note: Nashville and Memphis have the same problems as most metro areas, if I worked there, I'd commute up to an hour in.

  48. They are the real deal and as much of technological leap as optics were on rifles. My preferences are as follows. Milled slide > plate system. Direct attachment allows for a lower profile and a more solid mounting. Either purchase a new, precut slide, or whole new gun designed for the optic you want. If you decide you don’t like it, you can put the original slide back on and sell the aftermarket slide for a lower loss than a gun with a chunk missing from its OEM slide. For the optic, Trijicon RMR or Holosun. Everything else just comes up short. I have no opinion on the taller iron sights as my optics sit low enough in the slide to utilize the OEM standard sights. Only my opinion, and worth what you paid for it.
