I know this has been argued over before, but today seat belts saved me and my wife from serious injury. We were stopped in construction and a lady rear ended us without stopping. She was traveling about 70mph and plowed into us. I saw her coming and was able to release the brake and turn the wheel in an attempt to move out of the way but I wasn't able to react in time. My wife broke her nose and got a few stitches but otherwise we are fine. Thank God for that. The lady that hit us died on the way to the hospital. Please pray for her family. If anyone ever wonders the Land Rover LR4 is one tough bitch. EDIT more pics Broken Seat Offending vehicle7 points

Dude that's terrible... i'm very sorry to hear it. On a side note to TGO Members: DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE. This place has been littered with car crashes, accidental shootings, etc. etc. lately.5 points

I slapped one on some libtard-b*****'s car in my apartment complex. She has so many other stickers on there she doesn't seem to have noticed. It's been there for about 2 weeks now. She tried arguing with me one day when unloading the car after a trip to the range. Hahaha4 points

Glad you guys are OK, feel bad for the lady's family. And this is a prime example as to why we only drive bigger, heavier vehicles. Sure, they're tougher on the environment, but no amount of technology can side-step physics - you're either the golf ball or the club...3 points

23 lbs 10 oz, 9.5 inch beard, left spur is 1 inch and right spur is 7/8 total NWTF score of 61.38. Killed him around 1:00 today. Started out using my trough call and closed it out with my mouth call. He came in to 35 or so yards (didn't have a clear shot) but turned around and started walking away from me. I thought I had been busted since I had no time to set up my decoys. I waited for about 5 minutes so he would relax. I then started doing really really soft putts, purrs and a few whines. It was all I needed, he came strutting back in to 20 yards and thats all I needed.2 points

Our accident happened at 9:30. Fog had lifted by then but still heavy backup. http://www.wlos.com/article?id=9303201&categoryid=277&election=&provider= We are the black Land Rover in the short clips. Ms May was driving the white Ford Thunderbird. I'm still in shock that we are home safe and she isn't here anymore. Life is fragile, cherish it!2 points

At the end of the day, this is what it's all about - creating the illusion of doing something. Even Biden has admitted that NONE of the current gun control legislation being promoted will do anything but disarm law-abiding citizens.2 points

I read that the deaths at the end of the season were supposedly life changing for the group.... I don't agree except for Merle. Merle's death was truly gut-wrenching but I was ready for Andrea to go. It was a good episode but if Carl was my kid... The belt would be coming off.2 points

Take a hard look at Gallatin. The wife & I just bought 15 acres out there to build on (about 3 weeks ago is when we closed). Prime Country real estate, on a hill, overlooking a holler & 4 acre pond. We searched for close to 18 months before pulling the trigger on this property. We paid $159k ... Decent land in Sumner County will cost approx $10 - $15k an acre. The farther out you get, the cheaper. Hendersonville closer to $30k. So ... My suggestion would be Gallatin. Here's some pictures of ours :)2 points

There's been a bit of interest as of late with home rolled ammo. Casting your own bullets is an awesome hobby and if you enjoy the time spent, it can save you a fortune. It ain't easy and even a bit daunting at first. I was lost in woods like hansel & gretel when I got started. With no one to guide me I jumped in feet first and started treading water. Let start this off by saying that I know others do things differently and I know some things I do may not be right as considered by the status quo of experts out there. As such I implore you to not go upon my word but research and not make decisions lightly. Here we go. Our tale begins with the object of many a bullet casters desire. Wheel weights. All wheel weights are not created equal. First I like to separate the stick on wheel weights. They are softer and work awesome for slugs, shot, and muzzle loaders. Second is non lead. You will find all manner of things from stick ons made of rubber and steel to clip ons marked FE which are steel or iron. Trash them. Next is the bane of aluminum molds existence. Zinc. Although aluminum melts at very high temps it can be dissolved in molten zinc much like salt will dissolve in hot water. Don't mess with this crap. It ain't worth the trouble you'll get. A good rule I use is a pair of pruning shears. If you can't cut it easily trash it. Moving on. Caster ain't fancy so laugh if you like. A simple hot plate with a goodwill pot and a cover pan to hold smoke and heat in works fine. Fill it with weights, crank it up to high, cover and wait. When the fumes get rolling go stir it. I use a stainless steel table spoon. A word of caution. Don't breath this mess. You're just gonna have to trust me on that. I use a painters respirator with the replaceable charcoal filters. Now, it's melted. Stir a bit and start scooping off the crap. Gently scoop off the sludge and refuse. I use old coffee cans to dump the mess in and when full toss it in the scrap metal bin. Next is a step many don't do but I do. It's cheap and easy and it's added insurance against contaminants getting in my bullets. Fluxing at the smelting stage. Using a bit of paraffin I flux the lead before it goes to ingots and again when I remelt it for casting. I like to take a candle and hold it to my hot spoon and let the wax melt into the spoon, then stir it in. Watch out, the paraffin will ignite. Stir through the flames making sure to scrape the sides and bottom. Let the lead sit a minute or three to recoup some heat lost. Now we pour into ingots. You can buy an ingot mold or get creative. Just be sure you ingots fit in the casting pot you plan to use. Personally I think smaller is better as it's easy to add more but hard to add less on a big ingot. I use a goodwill bought muffin tin. There you go. Finished ingots. Let them cool and they're ready to store. Be careful. Don't do anything stupid and don't get burnt.1 point

Check this out... http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/03/bullseye-from-1000-yards-shooting-the-17000-linux-powered-rifle/ Is reality becoming more like video games or vice versa? The disconnect with the trigger would certainly be quite odd at first. However, I can see the video output being very useful.1 point

So my question is would rendering aid be seen as: 1. what a nice guy, he's helping out someone that attacked and tried to kill him 2. he's admitting he shouldn't have shot the attacker because now he's trying save the attacker's life, and is thus an admission that he shouldn't have shot him The way I see it, if I shoot someone to "stop the threat," the threat may or may not be laying dead in the street. If the threat has stopped (attacker down), but is not dead, it would be in my best interest (since trained to respond to this situation) to offer at least a superficial amount of aid. But Im worried if that would be perceived as an unconscious admission of "I shouldn't have shot the guy." Especially in a civil lawsuit. I'm interested to hear y'all's thoughts and opinions.1 point

Glad you're OK. I don't think that's gonna buff out.... I was at an insurance conference (yeah...they're usually as exciting as that sounds) where I attended a session hosted by the assitant director of the IIHS and he showed some cool crash-test stuff. When asked about the SMART cars, he said, they're all roll-caged and airbags galore. They've made them about as safe as they can and they do well in most of the tests. there is some real solid engineering in them, but no amount of safety engineering can violate the laws of physics. When one gets smashed by a Ford Excursion, it's gonna hurt. For all of you out there, if you don't have side-impact airbags, then seriously consider getting a vehicle that has them. FYI - When asked what he drives, he said he and his wife drive Subarus. Either Forester or Outback...I can't recall now. He said it was the best car that IIHS has ever tested for protecting the occupants.1 point

Am I seeing that right? The impact didn't even break the back glass? Seems it's usually the one who causes the accident are the ones to walk away and the innocent drivers are the ones to die! Glad you guys prooved that not to be the case this time!1 point

It is really kind of telling that I thought last week's episode (season premiere) of Revolution was at least as good as - maybe better than - this week's episode (season finale) of The Walking Dead. I'm not giving up hope, yet, but I am getting closer. I have no problem with character development and interpersonal conflicts among characters. In fact, I think that is what sets this show apart from your run of the mill zombie movie that couldn't sustain being a television show. That said, there is a balance to maintain. After all, the show is called "The Walking Dead" and zombies are still the central 'hook'. Also, even the character development and interpersonal conflicts can be done without turning the whole thing into a soap opera. I'm tuning in to watch "The Walking Dead", not "Days of Our Undeaths."1 point

I get sticker shock every year when I get my taxes done because I'm self employed. Since there is no withholding I wind up paying in about 25% of my income, therefore I kind of get my panties in a wad when I see that number, they even get in more of a wad when I see where my money is going.1 point

Over penetration from a handgun in most any common caliber isn't too much of a concern. You have a greater chance of hitting the lottery twice than having to actually use your weapon and run the risk of over penetration. Think how much velocity is lost after 16" of flesh, bone, organs and clothing. If you miss than you miss, regardless of caliber.1 point

Walmart in Halls sells reloading supplies. What used to be Randy's Guns and Knives sells reloading supplies. Gander Mountain does as does Bass Pro Shop. But the best place to get supplies is from David. He is a great guy. He is uber honest and has the integrity rarely seen by any dealers. He is also a veteran who is a shooter that suports the shooting community. I have known David for probably 7 years now and I have seen him do some pretty amazing things to help people out without expecting a single thing in return. There is not a single reloader on this board who he hasn't helped in some way. Dolomite1 point

We really must be stirring the pot. Foxnews is reporting that we are now sending F-22s there. I understand the psychological aspect of informing the enemy of what we are doing, but I do believe that is throwing gas on the fire. We could have quietly done this transfer of assets. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/03/31/us-reportedly-sends-f-22-jets-to-join-south-korea-drills/1 point

I went into to one today and saw some 7.62x39. I told the lady I wanted some, without hesitation she sat all 8 boxes on the counter and rang me up. As I was walking away she said "say hi to Keith for me" I gues she thought I was someone else. I was not going to question selling me that many. I did not ask for all of them or even tell her how many I wanted. So thanks Keith whoever you are1 point

I have never figured out why so many dislike Biden. He is a wellspring of wisdom. If you ever want to know what the correct answer to any problem or situation, just ask Biden. If you do the exact opposite of what Biden tells you, then you will always come out with the correct or favorable outcome.1 point

This explains how to load ammo into the stripper clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Wf4B7GyArM At one point, AIM Surplus had good stripper clips. I don't see them on their website any more. I have heard that this type work well. Here are some for $19.99/20: http://www.tickbitesupply.com/mos.html These are original surplus ones for a bit more: http://oldsargesdropzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1591 point
