I'll give you one thing, if you can sit all day when it's warm like yesterday you're the damn man! This time of year there ain't no way I could do it. That's Ironman shit!2 points

One of the few perks of getting older than dirt: got my $11 Lifetime Geezer Basic Hunting and Fishing license (includes Trout). That is all, whippersnappers. - OS2 points

I doubt that they let it last very long. Being classed non-essential wouldn't bother me personally. I think folks might be amazed how small it could get if they were just carrying out the founders' vision.2 points

Just a few more days, folks. Pricing can't be announced publicly because that's how the manufacturer wants it. We need to respect their wishes and just be appreciative of the fact that this is being offered to us. Trust me -- from what I've seen you're going to be glad you waited. :)2 points

And if you can afford one I think you have every right to own one too. I actually have a buddy who purchased an armored SUV years ago that was shipped back from Iraq. In my opinion people should be able to own tanks and fighter jets if they want.... in fact, in pretty sure there are some rich folks that do.2 points

I have no problem with PDs having the tools necessary to keep them safe so long as it isn't violating anyone's rights. Cops get shot at. The likelihood of being shot at increases with armed standoffs. Vehicles like this allow police to approach a very dangerous situation without being exposed. I want the folks who are charged with enforcing the law to have the tools they need to do their job safely. I don't see the problem here.2 points

We had to lay my dads chimney on up 6 more feet after redoing the roof on his house earlier this year. We laid all of it up saturday and I thought Id share some pictures. Most of the rocks averaged from 4 to 10 inches thick, 6" to 14" wide and 10" to 24" long. The lightest ones were 45 lbs and the heaviest ones were over 100. These are hand cut rock, hand hewed between 100 and 150 years ago. There are rock from over 37 different homestead chimneys in this one chimney. Anyways, hope yall enjoy My dad scraping joints Working on the scaffold Taking a break The finished product And for good measure, the hearth inside. This was our only source of heat when I was little, but back then it had a forced air insert for better heat. Now they clean it off at first frost and use it as a normal fireplace. This was all hand layed by my dad, and there are much larger rock under those for a foundation. Tapatalk ate my spelling.1 point

I shot one once searched for an hour didn't find any blood or hair or nothing on my arrow. Climbed back in my stand sat for another hour or two. Thought I had clean miss. Got down looked around a little more and decided i for sure missed somehow even though it looked and sounded good. thought I was losing it and headed for the truck. Walked 100 yds across a hay field and he was laying dead right out in the middle where I was walking. No blood no nothin anywhere. But it was a good shot. It was strange. Sometimes it is strange. On a side note, same day when i got back to my truck there were 5-6 longbeards standing right in front if it. I dropped back down, nocked an arrow, drew and rose up. Picked one, shot him a hair below the base of his wings sweet spot. Last time i saw him he was flying toward the next county with my arrow sticking out of him. It was a jacked up day.1 point

Thanks, she's feeling better. I shot a doe once right before dark. I waited 30-40mins before tracking. I jumped her up about 3 times as I was tracking in the dark. I found the places where she would lay down and bleed. I ended up finding her about 250yds from my stand. The first time I jumped her she was only about 60yds away. Now I usually wait at least a couple of hours unless I see or hear them fall. You just never know though.1 point

I have heard a lot of stories about problems with the rage doing exactly what you explained. Can't blame the head for a high hit, but some just do a better job than others depending on set up. I don't like rage for the same reason I don't like most of the similar designed heads. These heads have long blades that are at too much of an angle perpendicular to the arrow. I want a head that doesn't create as much resistance going through. I shoot WASP Jak Hammer SST mechanicals. They have performed well for me. I am sorry I was out of town this weekend. I wish I had seen your post on Saturday, I would have brought my dog down this morning to help. She's trailed several deer and done a good job so far.1 point

Must be because the cord is green but for some reason that thing now screams "ninja turtles'! I like the proposed and completed changes, they'll make it even more unique. Like uncleJac, I too can attest that this thing is a complete beast.1 point

as the OP, I don't consider this a hijack :) I would say it depends on what you want to do with it. if you just want a ML to take a deer, then the cheaper CVA Wolf at WM has had a couple thumbs up here already. Pawn shop on Dover road had 4 ML rifles on Friday. 2 inlines and 2 traditional looking ones.1 point

He's right, you know. It's a point I've tried to make here over and over. The yearly CR for the budget might take 5% of total funding for the ACA off the table, mostly stuff to pay various contractor type folks for advertizing and IT help and whatnot. And that for only a year. Big deal. Not. Most here seem to think it would really make a difference, but this whole effort is mostly just symbolic. If you think a symbolic effort is worth the rest of the mess it will cause, fine, but just don't think it would make any practical difference in ACA implementation. - OS1 point

Backbone? We must not be reading the same articles. There is nothing backbone about what the House Republican leadership is doing. Case in point, http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/359829/kevin-mccarthy-house-will-send-third-volley-senate-if-reid-rejects-last-nights-bill Why in the hell are Republicans already saying that they have another option available if Reid rejects their second bill? Honestly, why would Reid even consider the second bill knowing the Republicans will have a third bill that will be more to his liking? What kind of negotiation technique is that? I swear, the Republican leadership is acting like a bunch of wussifed beta males. The only reason the Republican leadership is doing as much as they are doing is because they were forced to because people like Cruz, Lee, and some others stirred up the American people, and they have been hounding their representatives. Here is the Republican leadership when dealing with Reid and Obama.1 point

Funnily enough I just got done packing for a Florida hog whomping. I also choose my clothing with a mind to carrying extra gear, if necessary. Pant HAVE to have generous pockets. I've packed out a 60# hog, boned out, in my pants pockets before now! I also carry a cheap, Wally World 'packable day-pack' IN my pack. It weighs under 3oz & folds to the size of a baseball. I can throw that on with my fanny pack for an exta 22l of carrying space if I need to. Stuffed with dry grass, it also makes an excellent pillow/seat ;) Here's what's in my pack.... (again, knife & leatherman on my belt) 2, 1l bottles of water Water purification tabs 2 Bic lighters Ferro rod Large folding knife 6, 1gal ziplock bags 1, 39gal trash bag microfiber towel 20 Ibuprofen 20 Tums Chewing gum 25' paracord GPS Compass 6 safety pins 2 spare broadheads + 1 blunt (replace with 5 rounds of whatever caliber if rifle hunting) 6" file Diamond stone snacks as needed Thermacell + refills + 100% deet Packable day pack. Slingshot & 30 .40 lead balls (I get bored :) ) This lot can keep me in the woods for upto 3 days, in a nice climate (& it has a couple of times!) & weighs in at a shade under 8 pounds. It all fits nicely in a Cabelas Guide System fanny pack, with room to haul out the meat of one, average sized, boned out hog.1 point

Heck I see reminders all over Knoxville of how UT fans feel about him. Seems like he's even getting blamed for parking shortages around town because I'm always seeing signs that say: NO PARKING! FIRE LANE! On a serious note (kinda'), if my left hind leg worked like it's 'sposed to, I'd do a little happy dance over USCs decision. :sadwave:1 point

Depends on who wrote the will. If done by a thoughtful attorney and properly notarized and such, it'd be pretty air tight. If done by a hack and not notarized, could easily be fought in court by the family.1 point

The back strap wnd trigger guard are brass. Everything else includ8ng the frame is steel. It is a 6 shot, and it has the right barrel for a Navy, its a 7.5" octagonal barrel. His book says the serial number comes back as a 1976 Ruger Old Army. This isn't an Army pattern gun, not even close. I will give that a shot after I find someone who knows more about them than me to look at it. If it does turn out to be some off the wall contract model I don't wanna be the guy whonhates himself for ruining it by cleaning. Here is the serial number Tapatalk ate my spelling.1 point

so you are the guy that is beating me to the club and getting all the brass. i use to pickup brass, but when the ammo shortage came along the brass count went down and/or you got there first. i only took what i could reload and left the others for someone else.1 point

No, you have to get a different lower. A .308 AR is referred to as AR-10. And the parts between the AR-10 makers are not nearly as universal as the AR-15 world. - OS1 point

Something must be in the air. My cousin found a .22 revolver while fishing today at Norris lake. It had obviously washed up on shore and was still in a holster. Rusted but functional. He said he was going to clean it up and keep it.I told him he needs to call the sheriff first.1 point

I would go early if you can with some flagging tape. Start where you found the arrow and mark it. From there, I would just work slow and find the next spot of blood. You're arrow passed through, so he's bleeding. The last deer I shot with the muzzleloader, I had to follow the terrain to where I guessed it would run because I never found any blood. I found the deer though. Be persistent and work slow. You'll find him1 point

That Casio GZone is a tough phone...it survives everything except a bonfire... This was a few years ago, but falls, water, even being run over with a tractor didn't kill it. It slipped out of a pocket while tending a bonfire. Going back to the original post, I saw this a few days ago. Hard to believe that people actually tried it, but there are multiple examples of how stupid some people are.1 point

Shotguns are for hunting birds, shooting 3-gun, and turning into SBSs so you can show them off to your friends. If I have enough time to pick a gun gun for the fight (but not enough time to be somewhere else), the rifle is coming out every time. The AR pattern rifle can do anything (from an antipersonnel standpoint) that a shotgun can do, and adds a ton of additional capabilities. Anything that isn't going to go through drywall can't be relied on to stop a threat... It's just that simple.1 point

The bees aren't really noticeable unless you stand in their flight path. When you do, they'll bump into your head till you get out of the way. Bees really are very docile. They aren't like wasp, that always have attitude. I've taken friends to my hive before and are always amazed that the bees take a lot to get to the point where they'll sting. Today, it's crazy here at my house. I put my harvest equipment out and the bees are in a frenzy cleaning it. Old enough to witness the signing of the Tennessee Constitution. You can also get a lifetime permit if you become disabled or if you are a disabled vet. I forget the percentage for the vet but I qualify so it isn't 100%. I really miss fishing. It was one of those things Sour Kraut and I really enjoyed. I will eventaully get a boat so we can fish again.1 point
