Here's where I get decidedly UN-PC. As a white male I am advantaged, but not how the grievance industry attempts to make it sound. My entire life I was told that I was going to succeed or fail on my own merits, by my own actions. I never had anybody telling me that I was disadvantaged by "X" or that the system was set up against me. That put me in the advantaged place of not having anyone or anything to blame for my own shortcomings. I have to own them. I do ok, but I could have been much more successful in life many ways. The reason I'm not is due to my own poor decisions. I know that and I own it. Many folks have spent their whole lives being told that they are disadvantaged due to skin color or gender and so when they fail, they have an easy target to blame for their troubles never having to look inward and make a true assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. That is how they are really disadvantaged they have someone to blame other than themselves.12 points

I think it is dumb as hell. 1) it won't do any good, is insulting, and ruins some kid's one day a year to eat the junk. 2) they make and sell sugar free candy by the ton. Buy a bag of that and say something nice, how hard is THAT?6 points

We were at Iuka Mississippi last month for a big reenactment. We took two of our guns (3" ordnance rifles). Here we are firing during the battle. (I'm on the first gun, far side front with the brown slouch hat). We will be in Johnsonville this coming weekend. Stop in and say hello. I will give you the grand tour of the guns! DaveS4 points

Deja Moo ("I've heard this bull**** before") White? You're a racist. Male? You're a sexist pig. Stereotypes are only bad when applied to minorities, cults, or females. Equal opportunity means giving the job to someone who isn't qualified. I've had it with the whining. Either you can cut it or you can't, but quit crying that it's my fault. Next one to get in my face with that crap is liable to get their feelings hurt.3 points

My Daddy once told me "Billy, there's no such thing as equal opportunity, there's just opportunity. If you get an opportunity and you don't take advantage of it it's nobody's fault but your's."3 points

if it smells ok (like new powder) and doesn't have any funny growing things I think it was described to me as "cheesy" once should be fine A solvent smell is an indication the powder is still quite good. An Acid smell is a warning the powder has started to break down and nitric acid byproducts are forming from the nitrocellulose breaking down. Are they the old square metal cans? actually those might be older Some of those old cans are collectors items. Some of my powders are older than that and work just fine.3 points

I imagine the office asked her to unload it as an alternative to taking possession of the weapon for the duration of the stop which is something the law specifically allows for reasons of "officer safety". My question to the officer would be to ask how having me handle my weapon helps increase his safety? Wouldn't the weapon staying put in its holster be a much safer course of action for everyone involved?3 points

DaveS, Please go read it again... I referenced the EXACT law 39-17-1351r1 then quoted the EXACT text of that law: You then post without ANY cite that your 'research' shows that we don't honor all other out of state permits... And then you question my maturity for calling you out on totally ignoring the fact that I not only showed you the exact place in the law where TN does honor all permits, but I took the time to quote you the entire subsection of the law so you could "read the law for yourself"... I'm not sure how much easier I could make it for you? How exactly should I go about citing laws in the future so you read them and don't just see a bunch of numbers and letters? I'll turn on the big flashing red letters if that helps you in the future? Just a quick FYI, those 'bunch of numbers' are the place in the TCA you can go to look up the law in question, and helps save time so you don't have to read 10,000 pages of laws to find the one you're looking for.... I try to include the TCA reference so if you want to go read the law yourself you can look it up quickly and confirm my quoted text is correct... instead of referencing mysterious 'research' where I provide no link or cite :)2 points

It didn't happen quickly. The politicians started giving you the weiner inch by inch years ago. You got accustomed to it while hoping that it would stop, because you happened to like your politician. Now some big chocolate guy and his prison mates are ramming with no lube. Yes, it's disgusting, but so is what both parties are doing to us.2 points

I didn't need the military to pound it into me that I was something special. Like Chuck I had a father that pounded it into me that I was not any better than anyone else and we all put our pants on the same way and if I was going to succeed in this world I was going to have to work hard to get it because no one was going to give me anything without wanting my SOUL in return. So what little I have I did work for and no one gave me anything I didn't earn and I still have my SOUL...............jmho2 points

I am no longer as active in politics as I once was. The reason I am not is I have come to realize that it is pretty much over; we have gone past the point of no return. Things will not get any better until we have a massive collapse where everyone is affected (The Big Pain as OhShoot puts it). When that happens, there is no guarantee that we will revert back to a system that has been proven to work. We could very easily go the wrong direction and turn against each other, eventually destroying ourselves. That said, I will still participate in all elections, and voice my opinion from time to time. However, I will no longer allow politics to be a big factor in my life. I have chosen instead to focus my attention on more important things such as preparing, building/strengthening relationships, renewing my faith/spirituality, and just working on becoming a better person in general.2 points

You may enjoy your sarcasm, but a lot of accidents & deaths are caused by people texting & driving. My BIL was hospitalized back in August with a broken arm & compound fracture to his leg because an assbag texting driver ran him off the road.2 points

From my understanding they got the truck from a seizure and it was painted by inmates. They expect ticket revenues to more than cover the fuel for it, and it may actually make the roads a little safer without hindering non offenders with the burden of the cost. I'm all for it.2 points

ugh......... maybe they're be able to see into the big rigs now and stop the biggest offenders.. the truck drivers.2 points

I always buck the mainstream on this: My firearm related bucks are pretty much amoral, anybody selling them at all is already a plus in my book. Recently bought a thousand rounds of .223 from CTD, cheapest in hand I've seen in a year. I own a Moonie gun and buy from Walmart too, btw, but I don't have to believe a company walks on water to take advantage of a decent deal. As far as any particular one being an opportunist gouger at times, well, P.T. Barnum and H.L. Mencken were dead on, but it's not my fault. Caveat emptor. - OS2 points

I'm 36 years old. I just shot some cast 308 loads using components given to me by a very good friend and upstanding member here. I used Winchester Staynless primers and 2400 powder. The powder was made before I was born and the primers....well, they were in WOODEN trays. Not only did they go bang but they were some of my more accurate loads to date using this particular boolit. ....oh yeah, the mold is older than me too!1 point

This is exactly why I posted a while back that we all need to begin getting focused on 2014 mid-term election and make sure we keep the House and get the Senate so they will not ratify that damn UN treaty Kerry was stupid enough to sign. If the Democrats gain the house and keep the Senate that will be at the top of the list of things for a complete Democratic controlled Congress to do is ratify it. Folks, this is just my opinion but the mid term elections of 2014 is going to be the most important election this country has ever faced in recent history. Even more important than the 2012 election. WE THE PEOPLE need to make very sure Obama is a totally Lame Duck President his last two years and the Congress has to power to remove him from office if he ever farts and anyone can smell it. Right now the Democrats are running away from Obama like he is some kind of contagious disease. They all know that he is making their re-election bids damn near impossible to win and his ACA lies are just that LIES and the American people are vastly becoming aware that he has lied to them over and over and over and so have his cronies. His pet news media's are even beginning to turn on him. Talk to your friend and have then talk to their friends and lets take back Washington DC for the people but more for the Sake of the Country. Have meetings with friends and cook outs with friends and neighbors and talk about this.............jmho1 point

Here's the problem with the whole system right now, as illustrated in almost caricature like form by the Tea Party. Note, I think this is a problem with all of them - I'm just using the Tea Party as an example because they're illustrating the leading edge of the problem. I think the root of our modern problem goes back to the late 60's and early 70's when we really stripped party bosses of their power in favor of a more egalitarian primary system. With the party bosses, you certainly got corrupt politicians, but I think that you can look at them as mostly mildly corrupt. It was sort of a, "make sure all your guys vote for me, and I'll make sure you get the county road contract - or whatever." While corrupt, politicians had a broader constituency. With the advent of the primary system, that's changed. Today, if we're being completely frank, the middle, or the moderate voter that everyone talks about just doesn't care. Period. So long as their kids' schools don't absolutely suck, and there aren't potholes right at the end of their driveway, they don't care. And it would take extreme circumstances to change that - most of them are going to stay home. They might get out to vote in presidential elections, but local and primary elections - it's not happening. So what we get with the primary system is a vastly changed constituency. Candidates are chosen by 10-15% of roughly 50% of the electorate on either side. Those are the people who show up to vote in primaries and those are the people who donate money to get these folks elected. This is a problem because these 10-15% (~5-7.5% of the overall population) are these candidates' constituency. And, it's an echo chamber. If you've got the money, and you can get a few people to show up and vote in the primaries, you can control the candidate. But, because these candidates are coming from the fringe of both sides, their positions are at odds with the "moderate voter". Couple all of this with the polarization of the districts. Let's just go ahead and face it. The big cities and major metropolitan areas are trending towards the left on their own and are quite happy skipping towards Gomorrah. That's going to continue without any help. On the right, the GOP was so successful in their gerrymandering efforts in the 90's and earlier last decade, that in most house districts, the DNC couldn't rig an election and get a candidate elected. So with the Tea Party, we've got candidates with extremely polar positions in "safe" districts with a constituency that in most cases has these same polar views. This is how we get candidates like Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, and Sharon Angle. The problem with this is that they absolutely don't represent the views of the whole of their constituency, they only care about the constituency made up of the people who paid to get them elected. These politicians are worse than the classic mildly corrupt politicians. The modern variant has been purchased outright. Here's the real problem from my perspective. We're electing candidates who, because they exist in this echo chamber, have exactly zero incentive or motivation to negotiate - much less compromise. In a lot of cases, these "constituencies" would just assume their candidates go ahead and walk this whole American experiment off a cliff. They have no grounding in reality, and have no idea what they're wishing for. This is the reason that I prepare. This is the reason that I think we're heading for another "shutdown" in January. This is why I fear that one of these idiots will eventually succeed in pushing us over the edge. Our existing Congress is showing that they're increasingly incapable of governing at all - much less effectively. I don't know what the solution is. I've reached a point where I can't vote for either of the major parties in good conscience. I've never aligned with the DNC, and the GOP left me long ago. I'd love to see the Tea party separate from the GOP, and frankly a party emerge at the far left as well. Good honest debate is important. Add in the Greens, Libertarians and some others and maybe you'd have to actually have to get a coalition in agreement with your position to effectively govern. It can't get any worse than it is now.1 point

I did not go there! Well, here I will argue with you a little. The medical conditions that cause a young person to become grossly fat are extremely rare. The vast majority, more than 9/10 of em, are fat because of diet and exercise. When people get older, that may be a lower % as medical conditions for older folks are more common, but we are talking 10 year olds here. You can't tell me that the majority of these 200+ pound 10 year olds ALL have metabolism problems. I would reword that to "in a FEW other cases, it is not".1 point

A LOT of people have been complaining about the controls. There is a huge thread on the issue over on the battlelog forums. The game developers were/are supposed to give us bf3 controls back and call it "legacy" under the control layout options, but it hasnt happened yet. I hope they do it soon. I HATE the land vehicle controls.1 point

I had a Tec 9 about 7 or 8 years ago or so and went as far as drilling and tapping for a small rail for the reddot. It was a fun toy. For the most part, it worked though it did choke pending on the ammo used. It liked the +p stuff for reliability but didn't like any type of SD hollow point ammo. I wasn't good for much other than a great conversation piece at the range. The AP9 I had was a much better pistol then the Tec9 was and was more reliable on your basic 115gr stuff. Still nothing more than a range toy. I ended up selling them both on here a long time ago. They were fun and nostalgic but utterly worthless....
