Impossible. They passed new laws to prevent that.

First off, thanks to all who gave me advice in my Mossberg Maverick thread. If you read it, you know my wife and daughter surprised me with the news that they were getting me a shotgun for Christmas. I added some money to it and came out with my new Remington Express Tactical 870 12 gauge! It has 18.5 inch barrel and 6+1 capacity. Here it is and I LOVE it!

I don't get this country. We can have zero-tolerance for a 5 year old boy who makes a gun shape from his peanut butter sandwich, who clearly does not understand what he has "done", but this kid breaks all the rules about drinking, driving, and ends up actually killing someone, and we have to have compassion. If zero-tolerance is such a good idea in some areas, why not the ones that really count?

I just went and viewed the vendors section we have here on the site which is probably I should have done when I joined. I will no longer be posting the sale items from Ammo Man and I do apologize to all the vendors here for posting them in the past. I was just wanting to help folks be able to locate ammo they may have needed and couldn't find. Won't make that mistake again unless Ammoman wants to become a Vendor here on the site. I did tell him he may want to look at joining the site but evidently he chose not to.      Bersaguy

Received my Secret Santa package today. I grabbed it and opened it up while I was waiting to pick my daughter up from school since I was early in line. I was blown away, when I opened it up there was a pair of mossy oak merino socks that are the same ones I wear. There was also a set of Magpul FDE PTS MBUS in there but where it got really good was in reading the letter SS wrote. SS had also placed a bubble wrap envelope in the box and after reading the letter I opened it up. I'll be damn it was a handmade deer antler pen; it's probably the coolest damn gift I could get. Kudos on this one KKing, you're one awesome dude and that is some fabulous work. I carry a montblanc signature pen usually in my bag and it just got replaced. Can't say enough good stuff about it but I was so elated when I saw it I took a picture and shared it with my dad and wife, here it is. Merry Christmas everyone and thanks again KKing!

Sucks, at least the shooter saved tax payers millions of dollars by removing himself from the equation.   So far lots of confusion but a school officer put the active shooter plan in place and the attacker ended up committing suicide.   This story will disappear from the news very soon if it is the case; can't be letting anyone know that good guys with guns are really effective at stopping bad guys with guns. 

no matter what one thinks of lamar,  this has no bearing on him.   Anyone can know someone professionally and find out later the person who seemed normal was not.  Could most of you who work around 10+ others say without a doubt that all of your co-workers have never bought drugs or looked a illegal porn or whatever else?  Its not even a judge of lamar's character to be associated with the guy: there is no way he could have known unless they watched the stuff together.   And unless the guy was over the top wild (in which case, he would never have been hired for this position)  there was probably no way to know.   Even when people seem "odd" or "off" a little, -- well everyone is a little odd, are they not?    I can think of hundreds of reasons to vote against lamar.  This is not one of them.

But there are those of us who wish to buy our hookers and blow without worrying about being robbed or murdered.

1. I'm going to remember this thread the next time that one of Obamas juveniles does something stupid to see if we can get the same level of compassion for the young person. After all, we wouldn't want to destroy the life of a minor would we? 2. I recently had a lady get pissed at me because I told her that the little sh*t who killed that contractor in Memphis needed a life sentence or the death penalty for his crime. He killed a kids father on the kids birthday. He should fry! 3. I always attempt to place myself on both sides of the story. If this drunken asshole were my son, sure I would want to protect him. On the other hand, if this jack wad had killed one of my loved ones I would want the bast@rd to fry several times over. He committed a major crime and destroyed many lives in the process.

Injuring/killing someone while driving drunk is premeditated. The risks are well known and therefore the intention of the driver is to cause injury/death to others as soon as he gets behind the wheel. Adults should face the death penalty for killing folks while driving drunk. A 16 year old might not be an adult, but they sure as hell ain't a child. He should be serving 20+ plus years. F**k his second chance. The 4 dead innocents don't get a second chance.

Let's remember none of us were there during the trial to hear all the testimony, and I for one am not going to take this sensationalist story that tries to pass as real journalism in Huff Post as the final word. HP is clearly trying to fan the flames of race and class in this article. If it were up to me I'd put the parents in jail. They deserve it more than the son. I'm sure there was a long pattern of this type of behavior by the kid, and mom & dad did nothing. That was clearly the attorney's strategy- throw mom and dad under the bus in order to save the kid client. The victims' blood is on their hands just as much, and all we can hope is that they have to wake up every day with the realization that they completely failed in their most important task in life, and that they are ruined financially for it. As for the defendant, while I think he deserved some jail time I still think he should get another chance at life. This was not premeditated, it was horribly negligent. He's still a boy really. But he shouldn't be allowed to go to a posh rehab facility. That was a shitty call by the judge. He can get treatment or whatever he needs in a youth detention center. Really I'm more mad at the adults here--the parents and the judge--than the kid.

So let me ge this straight... If you're rich and privileged it's not your fault. If you're poor and underprivileged it's not your fault.

It'll be 12 more days till I see it so don't spoil it! Even though I've seen the other versions and read the books. Lol! It's the Christmas tradition, me and the wife wake up around 9am. Go out to a movie. Eat Italian at Buca Di Beppo. Come home and go back to sleep. This year, its Smaug and rigatoni!!!!

Well, I guess this is good news for me. A buddy stopped by here for coffee and I told him I was going to go computer shopping and he said why and I told him to go turn on my computer and try going someplace and he would see. He did and spent about 10 minutes typing and mousing and then told me to come and try it out. "Whallllla"!!!! and everything is working as good as new. He is a kinda geek type guy and messes with computers all the time. He listed a bunch of stuff that was wrong with my computer which most was like Greek to me but looks like I may not be going shopping now any time soon. He told me if I had any more issues call him. Sometimes it helps to have friends that are smarter than you are which in my case is most friends.............. :rofl: :rock: :rock:

My point is that most TGO members don't live in Memphis, but probably have several more weapons than any Memphian here for sport and security that they really don't need since they safely reside outside of Memphis. Obviously, things aren't so rosey in the rest of the state either. I never notice Memphians doing much bitching about the crime because it seems that most are smart enough to know that there will be higher concentrations of crime in urban areas. We can't win the 'war on drugs' ever...  it's impossible to stop human nature, and it's impossible to win over the populace when there is no victim.  The VAST majority of violent crime in our country comes from the War on Drugs not from the drugs themselves.   When was the last time you saw two beer companies doing drive by shootings over territory?     We must accept the fact we can not stop people from using drugs (and don't really have the moral right to do so either), that all we're doing is making the problem that much worse...  we're using the war on drugs as an excuse to violate so many fundamental rights, and increase the costs of regular goods and services in the process.   Here is the simple math, a kilo of coffee costs about $25 in Nashville...  a kilo of cocaine costs ~$34,000...     What do you think the market is for cocaine in Nashville in a given year?  Lets say it's 2000 kilo's of cocaine - I know it's probably much lower but lets assume the worse case...   Right now that is a 68 million dollar market for cocaine...  That's worth fighting over in any business...  The markup on that product when broken down to street value is real money...   Now lets say we drop the price of cocaine down to $50 a kilo (basically a 100% tax)...  You're talking about 1.7 million...  less money than a bad fast food restaurant gross in a year.  Not enough profit to run a criminal enterprise off...   Now, you'll say if you make drugs legal there will be a huge uptick in property crimes, because people will steal and rob for drug money...  well people are already stealing and robbing for drug money...  And we've just reduced the costs to 1/700th what they're paying today...  That means for every 700 robberies they're doing today, they can do 1 and score the same amount of money...  also, it's cheap enough that begging for money on the sidewalk for a day pays for weeks worth of their habit.  I'm assuming we can all agree your average coke head isn't going through a kilo of cocaine a year?   At the end of the day, we're making the drug problem on society 100 to 1000 times worse than if we just legalized it completely and did nothing.        

I'm sorry, but the folks that don't get involved are part of the problem in this country. When you see a wrong it my OPINION that you have a duty to get involved. Would you be able to live with yourself if you knew you had the opportunity to stop her and didn't and she went on to kill someone you knew, or God forbid, someone you loved? I know I wouldn't. I will choose the hard right over the easy wrong in this case.    Would I have blocked her in? You bet your ass. And I would have taken her keys. Maybe I would have gotten charged with assault but given the circumstances I don't believe there is a jury that would have convicted me.

No matter which side of the aisle you're on as far as punishment for a minor, the fact remains the damage is done, irreversible and is permanent. Monetary gain and compensation by the victims families will do nothing to relieve a lifetime of pain and loss most likely.   Sitting here it's easy for me to ponder and reason if justice was served and if another life would be destroyed by a long prison sentence and discuss it. Certainly on the face of it, the punishment didn't fit the crime and a travesty of justice occurred. An argument could be made that a minor deserves a second chance in life, as was successfully accomplished. An argument could be presented that there's a disease, gene, predisposition or human imbalance that causes every error in crime and human nature?   If I were the parent, wife, husband, brother, sister, etc. of one of the victims, I would have been more than outraged at the "punishment" meted out by the judge. Our judicial system is far from perfect. Being human and a loved one of the victim I would certainly entertain the idea of extracting my own justice myself and suffer the consequences, I get that.   We all know how lot's of money can change "justice" and verdicts in our legal system in many, many high profile cases. With our justice system and keeping our rights as citizens of a free nation, I can't even think of a solution to prevent further travesties of our judicial system?

Tennessee is absolutely the most dangerous and criminal-infested state in the Union.  That's why, when the normal routines of daily life are interrupted (i.e. extended power outage, "500 year flood," devastating tornado, etc.), you see so much rioting and looting and violent crime.     Oh - wait.     Hmm.

The moral to this story my friends is to live far enough in the woods that "you" are 911!! There is a war on drugs like I am a brain surgeon. But I can stop the drug problem real quick. 2 forms of punishment, caning and hanging. If the first punishment doesn't FIX the problem the 2nd one will. No prisons, just small local jails. It will work, but the mamby pamby ACLU and such wouldn't hear of such brutal forms of punishment, and here we are.

Who cares about his rehabilitation? He killed four people in a premeditated attack. He should be doing life in prison. The lack of punishment will only embolden this POS to do this again since there aren't consequences to his actions. That is evident by the crap he pulled prior to killing four human beings and wasnt punished for. This judge was clearly paid off. There is no other excuse for why he got away with this punishment free.

Hard to say since I wasn't there, but I think that unless he had some direct influence over me I wouldn't have worried about it.   In these situations though what gets me is, it isn't the firearm the person is uncomfortable with....it is YOU with the firearm. If a LEO or some other "authority figure" was armed, he probably wouldn't have gave it a second thought.

I'm in kind of in the same boat ... deciding between the 870 tactical, the maverick, and the mossberg 500.   I'm definitely jealous!!!!   Congrats and Merry Christmas!!!!  Time to blast away some targets!!!

Three simple letters you need to know. MAC I've had the same iMac for the last 8 or 10 years. Every twoor three I contact a member here who is the Yoda of Macintosh computers. Spend a few bucks on it and ready for another. It handles everything I throw at it and half the time I neglect the upgrades I'm supposed to be downloading. Yes it was expensive when I bought it, but before I was buying a PC every year and I never could figure out ow to use the turds. Mac is so simple. .....alright Mac haters. Flame on and come get some!!

I was going to say, they must have mountain bike/bmx guys before that, because there's no way in hell I would try some of those things with a road bike.. Surprised they didn't pop a few tires or bend a few rims.

I wasn't going to respond to this in-thread b/c I don't want to derail the OP's thread until I read my PM and determined he might also find the advise useful.   Both the lenses you currently have are great entry level lenses built to fit in a budged for entry level cameras, they will capture 90-95% of the shots in your first  4 categories and allow you to learn a lot about the process but they won't cut it in a more challenging shoot such as the wedding in many cases.   The 50 f1.4 is a great first step into real glass(lenses that aren't limited to crop body cameras), it will allow you to manually focus, and shoot sharp shots in very low light if you learn to use it and has no crutches to teach you bad habits.(IS can be both a blessing and a curse for the beginning photographer)

He's one of my favorites , for sure. I'll never forget the first video I watched of his. He was shooting the gong at a little over 200 yards with one of his Glocks. Just unreal

I've got a PEPR with QD on an AR. Just make sure the tension adjusting doobers are in correct position as Peace mentions. Has been rock steady, and quite good at keeping zero when unmounted/remounted. I've since changed scope to a nice Nikon and some other stuff too, but still use the PEPR. - OS

The general consensus from people that know about these things seems to be that compression cycles wear out the springs, not the compression itself. So keep 'em loaded, but don't constantly be loading/unloading them. I'm not a metalurgist or engineer and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. That's just what I've found from researching the same topic.

I think we have to be careful to allow some variation in what are acceptable parameters for being on "our side". There are many things that reasonable, rational people can disagree on. On the other hand, it's possible to go too far the other way and many of those in power, including many of those "my side" votes for do nothing but wear the right clothes but in their hearts, they are not clear in their goals. I would estimate that 80% of the regulars on Fox News are not sincere or deep in their beliefs, O'Reilly seems to be the worst for this, unprincipled and as knee-jerk as any liberal. When I first came over in 2000, he was nowhere near as bad but now whenever I see him on, it is clear he has no aim other than to sell books, boost ratings and be a "personality".   Because of this and because the statists are running at full steam, the potential for disaster is immense. We are in no way close to being ready for this fight in this arena. If the statists are at 110%, we're running at about 10. Mitch McConnell, the leader of what is purportedly "Our side" in the senate sold us out for a dam in his home state. Talk to the people you know, conservatives, see how many would be happy with universal background checks and restrictions on magazines, semi-auto rifles and other "evil gun" features. Already the ATF bends the second out of recognition with their "regulations", effective laws which should have been written by the legislature (or not at all). Imagine the 2nd rewritten with that built-in. The first isn't safe either. The 4th will be disemboweled with a rusty spoon in the name of anti-terrorism. The 5th? Probably follow England's lead there. The 9th, already the red-headed stepchild, gone. Forget the USA, it won't be United States anymore, it will be the Central North American Republic.   Will all this happen? Probably not. But in the name of "Compromise", plenty will.   It just depends if you want it quick or slow and drawn-out.

Why don't we give Memphis away? Seems that might help the stats.
