Yep, my Thumler tumbler model B failed me. I wondered when it was going to happen. I bought the darn thing in 1980, the same year I bought my K5 Blaser (not sure what scrap yard that's in now). So the other day I opened up the barrel after tumbling a couple hundred rounds of 45 brass, and the inside was BLACK....brass, media and all. The black rubber lining got so old and brittle, it finally disintegrated into a black powder mess. I mean really, don't they make anything to last longer than 34 years? During my (made in USA) Thumler's 34 years of faithful tumbling of tens of thousands of rounds of brass, I only had to change the belt maybe four times. So I ordered a new rubber barrel and gasket for $50 and as quick as you can say more brass please...I'm back in business. I wish Thumler made more than tumblers...like cars and computers! :usa:4 points

I hope allot of the Ammo resellers from walmart got all of these and their customers are at least smart enough to check the lot numbers so they get stuck with it. I hope they are unable to sell them to people and they are forced to ship them back.4 points

I love their quote, "we start with the possibility that we will be in that location for decades, if not hundreds of years, to come." This coming from a company that's existed in the same place since 1526.4 points

Doesn't get much lighter than this Neil :o) of course accuracy goes out the ars! Sorry, one if my favorite pics from the past. ;o) MI makes a very light rail too. That SS G2. Just made a suppressed 22 upper and it's super light. I've always been a quad rail type of guy but these customizable round rails light versions are starting to grow on me. Here's the MI and the Troy VTAC in the background... both are very light. The YHM lightweight quads are nice too but still can get heavy depending on the size.3 points

You would not believe the people I see in court . I am in court at least once a month and they come in with sagging pants , mouthing off to the judge and all kinds of stupid mess. At the end of the day these people just make me feel better about myself and my family and how my Mom raised me.3 points

I use Mane & Tail Horse Shampoo for my head and beard. Works fairly well I suppose. Never heard of "beard oil" Might haveta giver a look. I started growing my beard out about a year or so ago. Makes me wonder why the heck I ever wasted time shaving. You shave it off and damn if the stuff don't grow right back. Maybe it's supposed to be there. I quit cutting hair altogether. I used to shave my head with the dog clippers once a month. My wife hated it. Said I looked like a skinhead. SO, in defiance, I quit cutting it at all. It's past my shoulders now. As I said before, I wonder now why I ever cut any of it. If a man on his death bed could have all the time he spent shaving and cutting hair over his life, back, he'd have time to kiss his old lady and kids and go fishing again.3 points

A coworker on Facebook just commented on my status and claimed that Bill Clinton is the best president in the history of our country. This is the same kid who voted for Obama twice. I had him take one of those online surveys and he's actually more republican than I am. I've never met someone so confused about politics. He has no idea what policies Obama stands for and tried to argue with me that the man never supported gun control. Sorry, I had to vent.3 points

The state of TN however says; that the hog program is working and they have seen a drastic decline in the hog population. I call BS on this as I'm seeing hogs now in places I've never seen them before! Right on their own WMA's!! Dave3 points

Back many years ago they use to allow you to hunt wild hogs in management areas like Catoosa Wildlife areas but I don't think they have any hunts any more. I know another story about a state that made a similar mistake but it was with Deer. Evidently the Governor of Illinois in 1948 thought like PETA and he outlawed the hunting of deer in Illinois till further notice. Well over the years all the Governors followed suit. Well even though deer don't populate like hogs to do reproduce and they did so very proudly all across the state of Illinois till 1991. Even though the farmers complained to the Governors that they were losing a 1/3 of their crops or more to the deer it fell on deaf ears. People in big towns and small cities were complaining because the deer were eating their shrubs around their houses that also fell on deaf ears. In 1991 while a Jumbo 747 was on final approach for landing at O'Hare Airport a herd of about 500 + deer strolled out onto the runway and in a panic the pilots were able to climb back in the air causing air traffic controllers in panic mode because the skies where full over Chicago and they went on full alert and all planes had to take evasive action to prevent mid air crashes. They sent a crew out on the runway to chase the deer off but they were so use to being around humans it took the a long time and flights had to be diverted to Midway airport in Chicago. The mayor Of Chicago contacted the Governor about the issue and a plan was drawn up for the DNR to trap the deer and move them out to the farm lands in middle and southern Illinois. When the farmers heard about their plans they went crazy. They told the Governor that if they began trucking deer south from Chicago they would start shooting the deer as fast as possible and maybe in the truck drivers bringing the deer down there. The Governor said that it would be dealt with in another way and professional hunters were brought in and told to kill the deer and Neuhoff (spelling) Packing Company in Chicago would be paid to process the meat and it would be given to the Orphanages and homeless shelters and soup kitchens all across Chicago. When the Mayor asked the hunters how much of a problem he had they said the entire city is infested with deer and at almost epidemic proportion. The mayor of Chicago and all towns and small cities in Illinois filed a petition that the state of Illinois open a deer season and allow hunters to hunt them. It passed on first reading and the DNR made a seasonal schedule that began at the beginning of the following month which was September and ran through February for the first year with a no sex no limit rule for the first year. Bow, shotgun slug and muzzle loaders were all legal but no High Power rifles. a buddy of mine and his tow sons killed 88 deer the first season as he and his family own a large farm in Streator Illinois. They were feeding the entire small town deer meat. Another thing the seasons helped was the auto insurance industry and policy holders because as the deer populations began to fall so did the auto/deer accidents and peoples insurance began to get lower as the accidents declined. It took about 10 years to get the deer population in check. About the middle of the second year the Governor was concerned with all the dead deer carcasses laying beside highways all over the state may cause disease so he began contracting people to clean up the highways and came up with another plan to continue feeding the orphanages and other charities so a plan was put in place to help the auto owner who's cars were damaged by a deer. If immediately after accident that person called a number they had listed a processor would immediately collect the deer and process it before the meat spoiled that state would pay that persons deductible charges on their insurance for the repairs to their vehicle. That was in place for the 1st 10 years of the deer season but don't know if it is still in effect as I lost my friend to cancer so have not learned much more but I think his sons are still doing it. The state paid them to pick up the deer, process it and if they could not deliver it because at that time it was not needed they were paid to keep the meat in coolers and or freezers. I went up to visit him back in 1993 and at that time he had 10 large Chest type freezers in his processing area. I know this kind of a long read but it all comes back to the issue with the hogs. If they don't open up a season on them in Tennessee the situation with the Hogs will be much worse much quicker...............jmho2 points

The thread about the sausage muffins got me thinking about pinwheels. I used to make sausage pinwheels from scratch but have found an easier way, What you need: Wax paper 1 can of Pillsbury Cresent Rolls 1 lb of venison sausage ( or regular) Lay out a piece of wax paper. Open the can of crescent rolls and carefully unroll into a big rectangle. The dough is perforated so you can tear it into triangles. Just mush the perforations and seams together so you have a big rectangle. Next just use your hands and pull, tear the sausage apart and spread the sausage over the dough. You do not want to take your time because the warmer the dough gets, the harder it is to work with. Starting with the short end of the rectangle, roll the the dough and sausage up into a log. Wrap the wax paper around it and put it in the freezer for about an hour. Putting it in the freezer lets the log firm up and makes it much easier to cut. Now cut the log into round discs and bake on a cookie sheet. Do not use a cooking stone. The pinwheels crisp up better on a baking sheet. You can make a couple logs at a time and keep the extras in the freezer. Then slice off and bake as needed. Delicious! Law enforcement use helicopters for the same thing. They randomly fly over rural areas in TN looking for pot farms. They use helicopters all the time as a surveillance platform to gather evidence. Once someone can explain to me why there is a legal difference in how the evidence is gathered in a helicopter versus an unmanned aerial vehicle I'll start believing this is a problem. Drone implies that these are vehicles who operate independently. There is someone sitting behind the controls as well as someone operating the cameras, same as in a helicopter. What is the difference other than the location of the pilot and camera operator? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

I was watching a guy getting arraigned on a PI or disorderly conduct charge. It wasn't his first time going to the system so he knew he could plead guilty and would normally get released as soon as he was sober. Well he decided to be a complete ass to the commissioner as he was pleading guilty. The commissioner refused to accept his plea and set his court date 90 days out because she knew he could not make bond. He woke up 12 hours later wanting to know why he was still in jail. Needless to say he was not happy.2 points

I have been drooling over this pistol for a while and wanting to try my first 1911. So I was over at Everything Weapons looking for a cowboy action .22lr as a xmas give for my buddy, and BAM, there is was! I touched in! Both sales people said after the 2wk instore wait, they were gonna statch it up. Low and be hold, I didn't buy it that night, but after seeing what MSRP is $1200, I went back the next day with cash! Yes it was "slightly" used, but NEW to me! Oh, I paid $799 plus plus. Now I have to get another piston for my Osprey45!1 point

Man you hit the nail on the head, what they don't realize is what the judge's think when they stand there w pants on the ground wearing pie plate grills over their teeth and hood emblems around their necks,it really makes them look credible, innocent and worthy of a second chance.......if they dressed like they're going to church ......1 point

It was 28 deg outside for the shooting portion of my permit class. The girl that shot next to me had her Sig go bang, bang, click repeatedly. The instructor that stripped it said it was massively over lubricated and the oil had gelled in the cold. The instructors made several comments about how all the high dollar pistols quit working in the cold while the cheap ones ran fine. The tight fits and tolerances are great until it gets cold. Add in way too much lubricant and you have a very expensive hammer.1 point

Most are, but all are hesitant to invest large sums for what is essentially a temporary aberration in the supply and demand cycle. Remember, after the last run on ammo in 2008-09, prices fell fairly quickly back to levels before the previous panic, and supply mostly stabilized (although 22lr has been fairly tight for years). I have read several articles which explained in detail why expanding 22 production isn't all that feasible - it's rather labor intensive to produce, the profit margin is extremely small at pre-panic price levels, the machinery can't always be used to load other calibers, etc. Bringing new lines up can take years, as new machinery is purchased, buildings have to be expanded or even new plants built, materials for components are already in short supply and costs are rising, other calibers are still being produced in record quantities and these are more profitable, etc. It's my belief that 22lr will eventually settle at a "new normal" price that will be 50-100% higher than earlier years before the market will eventually settle down, and that ammo supplies will remain very tight for at least another year.1 point
