1. I forego the armor in lieu of dual wield pistols. You can only take so many attachments and perks so I prefer the extra firepower, since I'm more focused on getting the score streak. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 3.
Don't forget something to protect the cojones
Well of course. I double up the nut flap that hangs down from my body armor. Also put those side plates in, so I'm only lugging around an extra 45 lbs of armor. Problem is the kids complaining about wearing theirs everywhere they go, but I tell them, "where do you draw the line on safety, kids?" My son usually responds with, "wearing f'ng body armor everywhere we go, dad.... that is where I draw the f'ing line." Kids just don't get it I suppose. They'll learn to fear everything someday, I hope. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 5. Mobility and comfort are my big things. A pistol is a defensive weapon. If I think I'm gonna need body armor, I'm probably gonna need a rifle. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

 10. When I was with the Sher. Dept., we were required to wear one. Warm weather, they're HOT!!, rest of the time, they're tolerable, never comfortable. Wore one some in 'Nam, weighed a ton. Personally I don't care to wear one now, to each his own. Think I'd opt for taking ducking lessons. I took 5 hard hits in 'Nam, none of which hit anywhere near where a vest would cover.....just saying.

 12. Wearing a vest and getting in a shoot out or even defending yourself... Your not going to fend very well in court. Good luck with that. If you need a vest or personally feel the need, you should be carrying a much bigger weapon than a pistol, and at that point, you probably have a lot more to worry about.

 16. Sorry you and your friend experienced an accident like that. Also don't worry about standing back while someone else helps. Moral support at times can be powerful medicine to the sick and injured. As far as first aid training goes, basic first aid is a good skill to have. You just never know when it will be needed, as you have learned. Put you a good first aid kit together and keep it handy while on your little camping trips. Always remember that a head wound will bleed like you've never seen!   Don't let all this eat you up my friend, things happen, need to deal with them as they do. Just look after your friend and let him know that you truly care about his injuries and his well being.   Dave

 17. [ No, there were multiple people who called the police, so that suggests to me that it was more than one house.Besides that, who cares who the operator is or how old he is? If they were 8 or 80 I'm still shooting the f'ing thing down if it is peeping in my windows. Why is that amusing to you or anyone else that folks would have a problem with a PEEPING TOM? Do you have a wife and children? I can't see how anyone with a wife and kids would not see this as a huge deal.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 19. Deer are very tough animals. Back in the summer I had a little buck walk through my back yard. His back leg was broken and every time he set it down it made a loud crunch. Several of my neighbors have seen him since and seems to be doing well. A deer would have to be real bad for me to "put it down".    I called TWRA last year and received permission to put down a small buck with a broken back. He was in a ditch and every time a vehicle passed he tried to pull himself into traffic. (because it was the only direction he could go) It's the only time I've killed a deer and felt bad about it.

 20. Movies use to be something my wife and I went out to every weekend, then 1 mo, and now 1 year.  I use to think it was due to our small kids, but recently attending the Lone Survivor taught me it was the costs most likely, i.e. ~$30 just for 2 people, and that is sharing 1 coke and 1 popcorn plus the movie tickets.  I don't know how teenagers can even have a Friday night date anymore.    A good comparison is attendance to NASCAR races, NCAA football games, and possibly more.  I see and hear that venues like those and others are still challenged.  When I was in my 20s, I went to each and every Bristol race, Bush and Winston cup, and few at Atlanta and others.  I use to attend every home UT football game, and most other major events.  I find these still just as enjoyable, but just too expensive to attend.  I like my NASCAR, but on radio.  I like my UT football, but on radio or TV.  The others, I have faded away from.  I have to cut corners somehow, because everything is so high.  I also have cut satellite to cut costs  and thanks to work, I no longer have own my personal cell phone, I have theirs.    I don't trade cars as often as I use to, my truck is 12 years old, and my wifes van is approaching 6 years old.  We bought both new.  I sure do enjoy not having any car payments though, but I may have been on paid for coolaide for so long, I likely can never have a car payment again.  I realize I am no longer 20 years old, 30 for that fact.  I am in fact very close to 50.  So is it society in general that has changed, the industry maybe, or just my buying habits have changed due to my age?  I don't know.  I do think the 2008 like 1929 had a major effect on the psyche on people and money.  My grandmother was 10 when the great depression hit, but in her old age she was just so price conscious of everything and always had money stored up.  I once asked her why, and she said I will probably never know what hard times are, but anyone who lived through the great depression will always save money at every opportunity and store money.    I know I strayed from the OP, but I think there is more going on than just Hollywood changes.

 24. He mentioned in his SOTU speech last week of again closing Guantanamo. I should think that would be easy. Just dig a very large hole and then line them up against a wall and send all of them to collect their 71 virgins. Put them in the hole and cover it up and bring our troops home from Cuba. Problem solved................jmho

 29. I guess you could say he turned his life around a bit, realized some of his problems were his own fault and not the fault of those who tried to explain things and help him. He specifically meant to kill the pastor and probably himself that night. We talked for a but, strange how someone can blame others so much that they think killing them would fix everything.

 30.   I'm sure that would be a topic that Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens could have commented on - - - if he hadn't been abandoned.   ----------   Now, having flown out of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, I wish we would look into how Israel addresses the issue of security.   But we won't due to political correctness.

 32. I was letting Advance Auto Parts charge and test my batter yesterday and decided to run to Karins Kustard for a shake. As I pulled out, I glanced off in the woods at this little swampy, runoff area that I always look into expecting to see deer but never see any. Well I almost snapped my neck back when I realized there was a deer in there this time and of all things it had a rack on it! Not wanting to cause an accident, I pulled off into the next parking lot about a 100 yards away from the buck and parked. As I walked back along the road, I thought to myself that I may spook him as soon as he sees my walking the roadside but what the heck. It was just cool to see him in there. As I approach where I thought he was, I noticed him staring at me, and hadn't moved at all. He is an 8 pointer and best I can tell his right side is broke off. Lots of limbs in the way, but I couldn't see it. I stared at him just waiting for him to dart off. But he didn't. I noticed him raising his back left leg several times and was expecting each time to be him running away. After about 20 minutes I realized his leg that he kept raising had an injured spot on it. WIth the traffic through there, I'm assuming he got hit, but he could have gotten shot at the end of deer season. I'm leaning more towards being hit by a car. I called in to TWRA just to let them know. I didn't think there was anything they could do, but tried anyway. I hope he'll heal up. Pretty buck! All in all, I was there almost an hour just watching him from the road. It was awesome to see but sad because of the reason I was allowed such a long viewing of this tough feller. Sorry about the pictures but best I could do with my phone.

 33. Make sure you duct tape some trauma plates on to it just in case. What if the Bad Guy is armed with a .338 Lapua or bigger?   Do you carry a Kel-Tec Sub2k in a briefcase as well? Cause then you could line the inside of the briefcases with some plates as well for even added protection.

 42. TMF….. You are ratcheting this up several notches above what it is. We were discussing a story where a drone was over Smyrna and the operator said he was checking roofs because that was his business. My point was that a simple viewing of the video will prove or disprove that. Or Dave and his neighbor making the decision his other neighbor must be a pervert for flying a quad around the neighborhood simply because there are pools in the area. He thinks he is justified in shooting it down. Again, a viewing of the video will prove or disprove that. If you see an aircraft obviously looking in your windows; do what you have to do. But to say that you would start shooting at anything flying around simply because you think it may be viewing your family is ridiculous. Being arrested for a criminal act against an innocent person or their property isn’t protecting your family; quite the opposite.

 43. The TSA has been the best thing that could happen to air-taxis.  The worse the intrusion and lines get, the more people who will be willing to pay a little more to be able to just get on a plane and go without that hassle.   A family of four can fly air taxi for about the same cost as scheduled commercial.  Usually, secure parking is free, too.  Expect to see a LOT more of this as air travel gets more onerous.

 45.   We lost the war on drugs after we shut down south Florida and the cartels change their drug routes to the Mexican border.  We could win the drug war if we shut down the boarder.  But that will not happen.  We would not have a problem with overcrowding of prisons if prisons were prisons again.  Not some country club for the dirt bag with three hots and a cot, free sex, TV, gym, and lots more.   Bring back the chain gang, put them to work cutting the highway right of ways like they did in the 60’s.  You will see a reduction in crime.  Fire up “old sparky” and clean out death row.  You will see another drop in crime.  When I was a young man in the 60’s and seeing the chain gang cutting the right of ways in the August heat I knew that I did not want to break the law.  Riding by the county work camp in the dead of winter and seeing what they were housed in also kept me out of trouble.  To most of these dirt bags prison is a badge of honor and a place to get free medical care along with a great vacation away from the many kids and old ladies that they have.
