I got this bad boy while I was grilling out on my back deck. About 20 yards. I always have the trusty Ruger GP 100 with me when I grill. We see these all the time, he jus got too close............7 points

Typical liberal. Laws are for you but not me. Anyone who claims they didn't know they had a gun in a holster shouldn't be allowed to carry at all. He may be too stupid to know when he is carrying a firearm, but the person who called police didn't have a problem seeing it. He needs to plead guilty and serve the full sentence as he woud expect any other violator to do.4 points

I picked up a Kahr CM9 at G&L last night. I had a M&P 40c. Great gun. But I wanted something smaller and a little easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry. The Kahr fits the bill and I have yet to read a negative review about it. I like the way it shoots, too.3 points

Probably. They might not have thought as much into it that so many folks would find it offensive. Of course, I qualify what is "offensive" by intent. Things intended to be offensive should be classified as such. Things which are taken differently than the author's intent should be classified as misunderstandings. It's the reason why words which could be classified as slurs towards race, religion, ethnicity, age, gender, etcetera, are not offensive to me unless the intent of the use was to be offensive. It's why comedians can say such offensive things in certain context without most folks getting huffy about it. It's why, in my old job, we could make jokes regarding stereotypes of coworkers and they don't get offended, as no offense was intended. I don't think Coca-Cola meant to offend anyone or suggest something sinister or un-American, so I'm gonna choose not to be offended. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

I'm not sure yet but I may try to sneak out of the house and go to the OK Corral tomorrow. I wanted to go today but the weather seemed too iffy when I got up, weather folks saying it may turn to rain. I said screw it and hung out with the family all day. It was actually nice. I'd like to get out there tomorrow, hopefully it all works out. Just curious if anyone else was getting in any range time tomorrow. Luke, I'll call ya if we head out there in case you have any ammo that's about to expire and need to get rid of it :)2 points

So let me get this straight, he's in the school armed, they lock the school down and he heards his kids in to the cafeteria and locks the door to protect them. At no time during any of this does he remember ha has a firearm? Why does he carry a firearm? If that sequence of events didnt trigger a response in his brain he has no business carrying a firearm. They would throw the book at me, even if I "Forgot," they should do the same to him.2 points

Good thing you got him. He's also a known thief. That's Joe Namath's coat that he's wearing.2 points

He lobbied for a law that would make carrying a gun into a school a felony. Now he is arrested on felonies for doing just that. We give him a break because he says he forgot? I don’t think so so.2 points

Oh gee, who would have thought? http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/09/us-boxing-zimmerman-idUSBREA1800720140209 I think this was a publicity stunt that was never going to happen. My challenge still stands though; I’ll fight Zimmerman.2 points

So, a law who's only real outcome was to make criminals out of law abiding, stand up citizens, just made a criminal out of a law abiding stand up criminal. I'm sorry, but this guy should do the full sentence. If anyone should have known better, it should have been him, a supporter of the law. Maybe that would open some eyes and make people think about these zero-tolerence, gun free zones really don't server the citizens. The article sure made him look like a great guy, too, didn't it? Do you think any of us, NRA card carrying, second amendment loving, gun owning "nut-jobs" would get the same courtesy?2 points

Or moving to places like Tennessee because we are a lot cheaper than Canada. Problem is they are true liberals. They only want to be conservatives when it comes to certain things, everything else they would support. Then after they have instilled the agenda here and it again becomes too liberal for them they move onto another state to ruin them. They supported the liberal agenda until THEIR government struck a nerve and they decided to move. So when they come here they might want some firearm freedoms but they also want all the social programs and other liberal benefits that they have lived with and supported for the last 3 decades. We are seeing it now with a lot of liberals moving here because their home state became too liberal but they want to turn Tennessee into the utopia that was their home state right before their leaders went too far in their home state. It is easier for them to move here than to fight for their own state. Then when things get too bad here they leave us to fight the battle they started. Personally I would not be against an immigration system for our state. You cannot become a resident of Tennessee unless you meet certain requirements. If you get caught living here without it you get shipped off, in the middle of the night, to your previous state of residency. And even after you are permitted residency you cannot vote in state or local elections for 7 years. Not sure what the requirements would be but one would be that you must pay taxes, either income or property, to be allowed to become a Tennessean.2 points

I think if they continue to regulate certain NFA items there should be some sort of frequent flyer program. Initially you go through an extensive background. After that you fill out a form that asks you disqualifying questions. If you lie on the form you could be charged criminally for lying on the form as well as possession of an illegal NFA item. Personally nothing should be regulated, only regulate who can own them. If you are allowed to own a single shot 22 you should be allowed to own a MG, a tank or a fighter jet if you want to. If you can't own that 22 because you are violent or insane then you should not be allowed to own any type of firearm.2 points

We spent a bit of time looking over the classifieds here and didn't find exactly what he was looking (which is impressive since he didn't even have it narrowed to a specific manufacture). He has handled my M&P 9mm and liked the feel of it but he really was stuck on a .40 but hadn't ruled any other manufacturer out. He had mentioned wanting to reload and also wanted to learn to cast so that kind of ruled out Glocks since everything I've heard points out the rifling in Glock barrels don't get along with cast lead bullets. He looked at HK's and liked the SIG's but wasn't sure he wanted to drop that kind of money. They guy handed him an M&P .40 and that was the end of the gun shopping as he said "i'll take it". I've not yet bought all the conversion kits and casefeed plates for my Dillon press I got for Christmas so to be able to load his ammo on my press he had to spend a fair bit but left with, Dillon .40 die set small pistol casefeed plate .40 caliber conversion kit quick change kit (powder measure, tool head and stand) he also picked up primers, powder and some bullets to get him started so he had a good sized tab when he checked out. It's always good to take part in getting someone new into the hobby. How was the range today Rugerla?1 point

Here, made quick shots. Soon as fingers squeeze into gap tween spare mag and butt of gun pressing downward a bit (pic1), trigger guard pops out of retention (pic 2), then there's no more friction from holster at all, and holster drops free (or of course stays in pocket), (pic 3). You set tension you like with the Chicago screw. Mine is set so that it pops out easily, yet out of pocket can hold it upside down by the holster and gun doesn't fall out without some pronounced jiggling. Hell of a design really, as spare mag isn't taking up any extra space, as that would just be wasted space below gun butt in pocket anyway. You have to use the short 6 round 9mm mag as spare though, not room for the 7 rounder. - OS1 point
-
StellarRigs.com. They sell them on Kahr site for same price also. Re-read my previous post -- you don't tug against holster at all. You'd do same one handed deployment even if it weren't in a pocket at all. - OS1 point

I love these. Got a pm45 used that looked brand new too. I couldn't hit a barn with my j frame. When I bring up the Kahr it's sights line up perfectly.1 point

I was scammed once by someone I know. Call these people up, to meet somewhere. Be late, or call them 10 min after the time you agreed to, say you are on the way. Call 10 min later, say stuck in traffic. Call another 10 min later, pulled over by the police. Then 15 min later, call back, say you found a better deal. If 2 or 3 of us will do this to the same gizzard, at different meet up times, I bet they will become a little annoyed in their business model.1 point

That's pretty crazy. I have always assumed that unless its a marked car I would not stop. With the prevalence of cell phones these days, if an unmarked lights me up I will call 911, ID myself and describe the situation and ask for direction from there. Perhaps some of our LEO's could offer some guidance here. Glowdot, I see you are either now or in the past a LEO, what are your thoughts?1 point

Soon as fingers begin to squeeze between grip and spare mag, the gun pops out of retention and right into palm of your hand. You don't "pull" gun out of holster, so holster itself needs no friction in pocket to hold it back and you don't have to get initial grip around butt to get cranking. Very quick to deploy, actually nothing quicker if you have hand in pocket to begin with. As far as spare mag on weak side, yeah, would be "tactically" quicker, but I'm a high drag low speed guy. ;) I figure the trade off in space and convenience is worth the extra 5 sec would take to get the spare in action. Relatively confident that 7 rounds of 124gr 9mm +p hollow points will provide the extra seconds. If I were really much concerned about it, would just sacrifice deep concealment and comfort to carry higher capacity heater IWB. - OS1 point

I told this story about a year ago. My father provided I think ~6 bricks to one of the auction houses in Sevierville some 20 year old Federal bricks of 500. The pricing on the boxes were still there, well south of $10 a brick. This was ammo he did not like, says it didn't pattern well. Anyway, in a public auction I think at McCarters Auctions in Sevierville, each brick brought $85 + 10% buyers premium + 9.85% sales tax = $102.71 OTD. The public bought all he had at that price. My dad was very pleased. A year later, my dad is out of 22 ammo. He routinely goes to Bass Pro which appears to have a good inventory each week for at least a day at somewhat a normal price. He now regrets he let go his ammo, even though it didn't target well. Him and his lifelong hunting buddy still shoot several hundred rounds each week, every week. The loser pays for lunch. They shoot old vintage 22 rifles, usually open sights.1 point
-
It's used but I wouldn't have known if he hadn't told me. I thought it had an awful good price. There wasn't a mark on it. I'm gonna shoot a couple hundred rounds through it like the manual says because I'm quite sure the previous owner didn't shoot very many at all through it.1 point

You're kidding, right? You're saying there's no such thing as Clubs and Ranges where people shoot 3-gun, IDPA or IPSC so must spend this kind of money to get a little practice? And...no people who are willing to share their knowledge for free? So, just how expensive is it to join a range and learn from folks who have been doing it for years? And even start shooting in matches? $75 a year? $100? It's almost the same as the Johnny Appleseed group "for a mere $40-150 for the week end and we'll even teach about the American History". I gather they don't teach American history in schools anymore so for a small fee we will... I suppose if you live in New York City and have never seen a gun before except in the movies then you might be tempted to spend $1500 for a course. Opps, might not be able to own a gun there... I have a friend from work who's spent lots of money, taking every course he could find locally. I took him out to shoot some action pistol on steel. He barely hit any plates and just couldn't figure it out until we worked on it. A slow draw on a silhouette at 5-7 yds does not a gunfighter make... This is't brain surgery. The military takes kids from all over the US who've never fired a gun in their life and spend a couple of days qualifying them. Albeit some Services spend more time than others. The whole point is I've never been to a civilian range where there aren't very safe people that are more than happy to help any new folks learn to shoot effectively and safely for free. And, they become friends with those that help and continue in the shooting sports because they enjoy it. Reference training...all the training in the world will not dictate what happens in the real event. A friend who owns a business had a robbery attempt on his establishment last month. His employees are armed. Three guys in hoods/masks pushed open the door and the lead guy was pointing a pistol at our guy. Our guy drew and fired at the would be robbers. The shot went wide left and high approx 7 ft and missed everything but the wall. The robbers ran out and headed for distant lands. The guy who fired had a jam on his glock and was lucky the robbers ran as he would have had to clear and try again. The jam was a shooter malfunction not pistol malfunction. He cleared it and did not follow. The malfunction was a high thumb on the pistol grip which locked the slide open in recoil. Now this is a guy who shoots regularly, knows how to clear a jam and is a fair shot. So, expensive? IMHO...yes! Needed? Not necessarily.1 point

I'm glad new Cabelas is in Bristol, VA and not TN so we won't have to pay sales tax plus their high shipping on online orders. Hell a store in Bristol, TN might as well been in another state anyway as it's 500 miles from the rest of TN.1 point

A 39 Smith is C&R eligible??!!?? Damn I'm getting old! That looks like a nice one, and I would say you got a good deal on it if it was the one on GOC. The trigger is a bit different, but once you get used to it, they are good shooters.1 point

4 years tobacco free here. Smoked what would burn for several years and thought I would switch to snuff to help my lungs. Little did no know then my cardiovascular system would suffer even more. Then a buddy called one day to tell me they found some spots in his jaw. That, combined with a video I watched about a man having a bone from his foot installed where his freakin jaw bone once resided was enough for me to put it down. I put my foot in my mouth enough as it is ;)1 point

I try to run through mine fast enough that it doesn't get the chance! Went out to try to make a lead deposit into a coyote but didn't have any luck. One showed up about 7yrds from Joe back behind me but she caught him with the call in his mouth rather than with a gun in his hand. Let me know if you decide you're going to head that way and i'll see about meeting you out there. I'm supposed to be taking a friend to go purchase his first pistol tomorrow but maybe the times won't conflict.1 point

The only warrants I've seen being served are on TV (reality shows)...I've no idea how "real" they are but since they are being filmed I assume they are accurate for that particular warrant. Anyway, of the ones I've seen there is usually about a half-second between "POLICE" being yelled and the door being ripped off its hinges by the battering ram they use meaning virtually no time for someone inside to mentally process what is happening (which I'm sure is the intent). My impression of a true "no knock" warrant is they the break down the door first leaving even less time for anyone inside to react.1 point

So long as they add another amendment requiring a police officer to be on duty at every playground. If they strip law abiding citizens of the right to defend themselves and their own then it should be their responsibility. If they aren't willing to fill in the gap then they have no business creating one in the first place.1 point

I'm almost embarrassed to post pics of my garage in this shape, but deer hunters will understand..where's my <insert item>? Anything in the way gets thrown cause I'm on the way to the woods NOW LMAO! Anyway, I picked up a section of damaged racking from my work and bought some cross beams as well. I cut 2x4's to drop in the recess inside each beam as support for the plywood. I have beams on the bottom and was going to put plywood on it as well but decided the bottom beam would keep things with wheels from rolling out from under the bench and that with a shelf that low, undoubtedly there would be things rolling up underneath it that I wouldn't be able to reach.1 point
