Me too. It goes like this: "Please lord, take Obama in to your loving arms. Today, if at all possible".4 points

I've always been amazed at what the founders WERE able to envision though. If they hadn't done such a good job, we would have been shooting it out a long time ago.3 points

Why would anyone think his stand on the 2nd amendment, one way or the other, would impact his chances to become President? Obama openly said he wanted to ban all semi-auto guns; he was elected President…twice.3 points

So it's official. We found out today that my wife is going to do her residence at Vanderbilt University Med Center. We're sad to leave East Tennessee but very excited about the future. I'm going to be asking for living suggestions and job openings as we prepare for the move but I'll start new threads for that. Just wanted to share the good news. Wife and I went to the CMP South Store last Saturday and I came back with this. It's a 1954 HRA field grade in nice shape. They had 25-30 when we got there. I was like a kid in a candy store looking at them.2 points

People do make jewelry out of the stuff. Even cleaned it must be Eley brass at that price. But what does the artist know? That reminds me....this very nice and very fine woman used to set up at the Knoxville guns shows selling her jewelry.....http://www.jenuinelyjeni.com/bullet_jewelry.html. It was always a pleasure to see what she had to offer.2 points

Big surprise. Not. Same thing that killed the bill for using permit in lieu of TICS/NICS check, too. It all comes back to the unconstitutionality of the HCP itself. To "regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime" doesn't do anything but produce more criminals than we'd have with free universal carry. - OS2 points

By all means, get one. Just don't wave it around while walking past a school. Ho, ha, parry, dodge, spin, thrust...2 points

Just try really hard not to chop anyone with it. Even if they deserve it. Shoot them instead. :up:2 points

I'm going to get a nice Italian stiletto, switchblade, with at least a 5" blade! Why? Because they look so cool! It seems absurd that I can legally carry my .45 AND my .380 , yet am not to be trusted with a switchblade.2 points

He's a cute one all right. My dog did the same thing when he was a pup. Now he's all lap dog. I read an article a few months back that said researchers had discovered that when you come home and a dog is excited to see you, its brain releases the same chemical that a person's brain releases when they are in love. That puts in perspective how a dog feels about you. If that isn't the cure for depression, I don't know what is.2 points

Many people are undeserving of prayers, but Christians are specifically directed to love their enemies. This is NOT the love that society has defined as an emotion, but rather showing kindness. I pray for lots of people for various reasons, and lots of them are not loved by me.2 points

Yuup. Big government control freak Republicans are no more a friend of the Constitution, or individual thought (or liberty) than a big government Democrat...they are all just progressives who think that the government is the answer to every problem (when in reality it's usually the cause of the problem).2 points

Frankly, one of the first duties of a armed citizen is to avoid an armed conflict and if my "targets" are 50 or 80 or 100yards away then why the hell would I be sticking around and engaging in a gun fight at those distances with a pistol??? If you can get out then you GET OUT...if you can't retreat...if you are really stuck and have no choice then you do what you have to do with what you have but I would say that most of the talk about self defense shooting at longer distances is really not much more than a academic discussion; not a very likely real life scenario.2 points

My daughter has her own dog, my wife has her own, and I haven't really had my own "my dog" since I lost my pit bull Princess when I was a kid. She died from heartworms and it destroyed me! This little American Bulldog mix reminds me a lot of Princess minus the color scheme. I named him Roman and lemme tell ya, I LOVE him and he LOVES me! :) :) :) As you'll see, he loves to sleep right now at a tad over 5 weeks old. And he doesn't care if it's comfortable for me or not, I just have to deal with it LOL. Edit: The older he's gotten, I believe he's just a standard pit bull. Not really sure except for appearance on how to know for sure, but I am not going to get him tested, as it doesn't matter to me, I love him because he's my dog.1 point
Good advice, as apparently this link is no more ...
In my view that's really too bad because that link was simply a shopping cart that contained ALL the .22LR products that Cabela's sold. When one pressed "Checkout" the Cabela's real time inventory system would discard from the cart any and all items that were not actually in stock at the time of the query. Any items that were actually in stock remained in the cart and one could then decide whether to make an actual purchase or not. The ONLY time the link would allow one to order "Out of Stock" items was when the actual inventory status changed from "In Stock" to "Out of Stock" between the time of the cart real time query and the actual submission of the order itself. The Cabela's cart system is a REAL TIME inventory query...the Cabela's web page item listings are not. There was no "glitch", there was no "hack" and there was no impropriety. Regardless of what "someone from Cabela's" might have said the link worked exactly the way the Cabela's cart is supposed to work - it checked real time inventory for all the items in the cart before processing the order. The link was a valuable tool that allowed anyone to instantly check the Cabela's .22LR real time inventory with just a few clicks of the mouse. In stock .22LR was then available for purchase. "...the link is no more..." I hope that those who neither understood what the link did or how it did it are happy to see it gone. As they say, sometimes "ignorance is bliss". For those that both understood and used the link a valuable tool in the search for elusive .22LR ammo has been lost.1 point

It came with the Remington furniture, and their patented crappy recoil pad. That gun is too light for a crappy pad. I think mine is the same model as yours, but came with a round, old style foregrip.1 point

People call me crazy when I tell them 2A really means I should be able to have a tank, grenades, machine guns, and an armed Apache helicopter if I can afford it, since the gov't has them and I may be called upon to help overthrow them.1 point

No, no, no no! We're not talking duck or geese here, we're talking drones! A serious drone hunter will use a semi-auto or high capacity pump gun with #4 or #6 shot shells. Looking forward to intercepting my neighbors next drone beer delivery and hope it's not "light " beer because of drone weight restrictions?1 point

When I was a LEO in Missouri where you are perfectly within your rights to open carry a handgun, my contact with the complainant would be something like this: Me: Good morning sir. You reported a man with a gun? Worker: Yes, officer. We were just doing our jobs trimming these trees when this fella comes out of that house over there and yells at us to knock it off and leave, and he had a gun. Me: Where was this gun? Worker: He had it tucked in the waist of his jeans. Me: If it was in his jeans how did you see the gun? Worker: He wasn't wearing a shirt, and I could see the top of the gun sticking out. Me: At any time did he point the gun at you and threaten you with it? Worker: No, it stayed in his jeans. Me: Did he make any threats of pulling out the gun and using it on you? Worker: No, he just yelled at us to leave. Me: Were you ever on his property? Worker: No, we only work on the easement where we are supposed to work. Me: From what you are telling me he has committed no crime, but I will go talk to him and get his side of the story. I'll also let him know that you are not doing anything unlawful at this time either.1 point

In all reality I think Christie's political career is about down the tubes already so he may just sign it but then after watching him and listening to him recently who really knows what direction he is going in. I don't even think he knows from day to day.............jmho1 point

In this case pretty sure the draw string, and it doesn't limit the problems to Glocks. I had a student yesterday, as he was re-holstering have the draw string trapped by the trigger guard. I was standing there, stopped the process and made the very point of being sure the garment is cleared. I don't know that anyone even uses the draw string much, so cut 'em off IMO.1 point

This is "The Armadillo." He was my personal plush animal companion through three tours in Iraq. He has a scrapbook documenting his kidnap by terrorists and his escape in a pizza box. Of all the plush animals in the house, my wife insisted The Armadillo accompany me, as he was used to the heat and had his own body armor. After mutual adventures, we both survived unscathed.1 point

Yep. With all the frigging lawyers on the frigging hill in Nashville, why can't these friggers write a frigging bill that doesn't have some huge frigging gray area in it? "adult person not prohibited from owning a firearm by state or federal law" would of course do it, assuming they want to exclude minors So give me my frigging honorary JD already. - OS1 point

Not sure what started that crap from some of our members. I've never seen a new member treated like that on TGO. Hope you stick around and not judge all of us by the comments of a few . Welcome1 point
-
Not so much. I think most of us will judge a man by the cut of his jib. But I also think we're skeptical based on our experiences. Someone coming here from elsewhere has the burden of proof. This is true of all human tribes. TN has a lot to offer not the least of which is a freedom not found everywhere else in the US. We'd like to keep it that way. So welcome. Just don't tell us how you did it somewhere else. I look forward to your input here on TGO.1 point
