1.   Remember this was a guy who was member of Bloomberg's MAIG when mayor of Knoxville, then resigned from that and took out lifetime NRA membership in time to run for Governor.   Takes a while to decide which side of the bread has the most butter.   - OS

 2. As someone who's been self employed for 25 years I am always amazed when folks talk about getting money back from Uncle Sam. Like it's a gift or something.

 3. Here's a few I've had. Many are in other members hands now ;) There have been more but, this is all I have pictures for. My first Saiga conversion, when they were cheap. :) Red Jacket did the front end work on this one ... before their show started ;) A couple more Saiga conversions. This is one with a Tantal side folder. Pain in the rear to get to work. Same gun different setup. Polish Tantal. Couldn't pass it up when Classic was blowing them out under $400! One of the early Vepr's when you could buy them for under $500 unconverted. Wish I had this one back. Threaded the barrel on this one. Actually the only Wasr, I ever owned. Great gun. Mak90 with Ironwood furniture that I finished myself. Beautiful milled Mak. Had to thread the end of this one too. Saiga .308 14.5" barrel with pinned '74 brake. Incredibly fun and accurate gun! At least I know the guy who ended up with this one. If the kids didn't eat so much I'd still have this one! :) Traded the Mak90 for this Saiga 12 and then traded this one for a PSL. I have a habit. Draco SBR. One of the most fun projects I did and a one of a kind with the handguard. Current M92. Waiting to be SBR'd. Also added a Manticore Arms NightBrake. Waiting on Manticore to release their HG!

 7.
The Army didn't trust us anymore......
As a senior NCO I led US and foreign troops in combat, free of any direct supervision other than my own. I fired my rifle, .50 cal machine gun, grenade launcher, threw frags and called for hellfire strikes, with missiles that cost more than the average house in Tennessee. Yet when on leave I had to fill out a 7 page risk assessment to drive back to my home state. I had to be lectured, like a child, on what not to do on the weekend. I couldn't so much as go on a simple PT jog without being wrapped in a friggin VS-17 panel without getting stopped by a half-wit E-9 who can't remember a time where people looked both ways for traffic. These are the measures that our zero defect military has taken, and the results are a bunch of helpless weaklings who aren't held accountable for their own f-ups. Instead there is a 15-6 to investigate how the command failed to take appropriate risk mitigation steps. America, this is the path of your armed forces. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 8. Meh, looks like his douchey life is punishment enough. Plus he has to climb that mountain of Walmartian fatty every so often. I suppose if he suffers from little wiener syndrome to the point he has to fake being in the military, those big flabby thighs he has to put it between aren't helping the presentation of the goods. Like a Vienna sausage between two Christmas hams. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 9. In the article linked in a previous post, Goobernor Haslam talks about 'property rights' and claims that the local officials should have the ability to regulate firearms on property that their local constituents paid for.  Ummm...no.  We aren't talking about private property here.  We are talking about public property and local officials should not have the right to make the same type of decisions they can make on private property.  The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says that the government does not have the right to infringe.  Just in case that isn't clear enough, the Tennessee State Constitution goes further in protecting the right not only to own but to bear arms.  Even the specious activities of regulating the carry of arms by state level officials under the 'view to prevent crime' clause doesn't seem to me - a lay person - to grant local officials any right, whatsoever, to do so.   So, no, Goobernor Haslam, local officials should not have the right to limit firearms carry on PUBLIC property.  Instead, they should be required to follow the Constitutions of both the country and the state by not interfering with the right to keep and bear arms that is outlined in both.   God, it makes me sick that I let myself be talked in to voting for that guy by the 'lesser evil' crowd..  I'll write in my dog before I'll vote for him, again.

 10. I can not wait.  I have read the first two books which were great... however I think for the first time I like the show better than the books.    Who is everybody's favorite overall character?  (trying not to give any spoilers)

 12. Here is the site: http://www.gunfreediningtennessee.org/ Here is what I sent in the "Tell us if Restaurants You Visit Post No-Gun Signs" comment section: My answer is no. I do not patronize posted restaurants. Thanks though for the website. It's just as useful to those that are looking for restaurants that DO allow concealed carry.

 15. I got a call from the family CPA this afternoon. I must be doing something right this year. First time in about 5 years, we actually will not have to pay Uncle Sammie and the infernal service. Think I'll celebrate by buying a box of ammo or two.

 17. Ever since i listened to that young lady describe how she lost her father and mother by following an order to not carry in that restaurant in Texas when she left her gun in her car. I can promise you  I have no intention of going through anything like that. If a maniac shows up in a place I am eating one of us is going to die from bullet holes being inflected and since he may be the one that starts it I will be the one doing my best to end it and hope i have others there to help but if not so be it...................jmho

 21. Rush to market with what you advertise as a "game changer" with a great price point which means lower margins...   While not a good comparison, Jeep advertised release of the new Cherokee for late 2013; didn't appear until 2014. Problems with the 9spd auto, but since they wanted to make a statement and introduce a "game changer" in that segment, they waited in order to refine and perfect.   Now Remington will be overloaded with warranty work, phone calls from irate customers and severely damage the desireability of the R51 specifically and Remington ownership in general...incurring additional expenses and loss of sales revenue on a product with already has a pretty slim margin based on it's price point. I almost forgot about the tooling, training, packaging and marketing costs to bring it to market. Yikes. Didn't anyone think to torture test a few dozen of these things from different lots to see what would happen? Wasn't anyone remotely curious? You make guns, I'm sure you could have found at least one employee who would have volunteered to shot for free if you provided the ammo...I'll bet a dozen or so TGO-ers would have round tripped if Remington posted "looking for proficient shooters to blaze through a few thousand rounds, we provide guns, ammo and targets."   Epic Fail on so many levels for a what I think could still be a great compact platform.

 26. I think its cool how Tyrion, a Lanaster, has stood up for and defended "the Stark girl" (Sansa) on several occasions to his dad and his crazy sister. He is the only Lanaster I think that has any kind of a conscience.    On a side note. I really hope something bad happens to Joffrey this season.

 27. Another fan here.   If you haven't read the books, I don't think you would be disappointed with the "artisitic license" adapting a literary series into mini-series.   The books obviously give more in-depth character development; Tyrion is NOT a comic-relief character.   I'm still waiting for Martin to finish the Winds of Winter.

 28. I would have to agree with you on your picks. Tyrion is just plain cool. And The Khaleesi...What's not to like about a georgeous chick who commands dragons? Seriously though, I do enjoy the show. My wife, however, is just plain bonkers over it. She has asked and complained about the "long" wait for the show to return. Asked me the other day when she could buy season 4. This woman is hardcore.

 35. Lieutenant General Mark A. Milley just held a news conference. During the question and answer segment, a reporter asked about concealed carry on base. Milley informed the reporter that is was not legal for military personnel (or anyone, I suppose) to carry on base, and that he did not feel concealed carry should be allowed. About that time, someone asked about the response time of the MP's and other law enforcement officers, to which Milley said 10-15 minutes. The reporter who initially asked about concealed carry jumped in and basically tried to make a point about how CC could have been beneficial when it takes 10-15 minutes for help to arrive. He wasn't interested in debating the reporter, so he took another question. It was nice to hear a reporter with some common sense.

 36.   $50 and not that it is likely, but up to 30 days in jail, btw, for any city ordinance that doesn't have a specific penalty in the ordinance itself, which this one doesn't.   Same penalty for shooting a real gun, or carrying a heater in city rec area, so seems a bit of overkill therein.   I know one guy who'll remain nameless who has iced a few pigeons off his back apartment veranda right in the middle of the urb here with air rifle. Shooting from inside the crib, the sound is quite muffled. :)   - OS

 37. I think a Con-Con is an extremely bad idea.  I'm not convinced that it can be limited to one or two amendments.   I fear that the entire Constitution will be up for grabs.     When were the first 32 Con-Cons held?  As far as I remember, the only Constitutional Convention in this country happened in 1787 and it replaced the Articles of Confederation with our present Constitution.  I have little faith that that would not happen again.   Yes, it could get worse.  Much worse.

 38. I was going to a Mom and Pop restaurant for many years and it was never posted. Then all at once I go there and it is posted. I spoke to the manager and he said that a few of his customers were complaining about seeing customers with guns and it was alarming to them because of their children. I said well I have been eating here for about 10 years and no one has ever seen my gun. He asked me what he could do to keep his business and not lose any customers so I offered him and option. I recommended posting his business as a Concealed Carry only restaurant and see how well that works. Next time I went there the sign read Concealed Carry Only. The place was packed with customers no one knew who was armed and who was not. The manager stopped by my table just after the waitress put my ticket on my table and he picked it up and thanked me as he has been seeing as increase in his business since re-posting and he liked my idea. I think if managers are willing to listen to other alternatives than just posting No Guns it can help both the HCP people and the businesses...........jmho

 39. I think the best argument to a business owner is the folllowing: Posting a "no guns" sign does nothing to dissaude the criminal element, and in fact coupd serve to encourage that element. Additonally it is negative message to lawful firearms owner and HCP carriers. Not posting provides the exact same relief against the criminal element and doesn't discriminate against lawful gun owners and encourages a wider customer base. Tell me one person who chooses to only eat/shop somewhere ONLY if there is a posted sign? Now tell me how many gunowners will refuse to do business with a posted place? And lastly, there is no legal protection to the business for posting a sign vs not posting. Not posting - its the smart business decision

 45.   Party politics. More significant they are "Republicans" than lawyers in this case I think.   TN is not like DC, where for the most part nowadays the GOP is the lesser of the two evils. Here the two parties are pretty much on par, and a majority of either seems to behave about the same. I imagine we'd be just about as far along weapon law wise right now if we'd had a Dem super majority for the last 4-6 years in Nashville.   - OS
