We have been slowly redesigning and fixing up our office. One of the things we have always wanted was a play room. We demand a lot from our employees so we like to have as many perks for them as we can. With the new redesign of the office we now have a dedicated play room. We have always had a ping pong table. It now has a permanent home. The play room is where we also have our company lunches. It now has a nice tv, ping pong table and our new Predators Pool Table. mosin-nagant: The Mosin-nagant is an old school bolt action rifle from Russia. Originally designed by a drunk Russian engineer and an even more drunk Belgian gunsmith, who drew up blueprints on napkins in the back of a pub somewhere in Siberia in a vodka-induced stupor. The Mosin-nagant fires the 7.62x54r cartridge, which can kill a polar bear at a thousand yards and keep going right through the tree he was standing in front of. The Mosin-nagant was used by the Russians in both world wars, so it's killed more Germans than collisions on the autobahn and under-cooked sauerkraut combined. Surplus Mosins can be found at gunshops in the States for like a hundred bucks on sale, and ammo is cheap surplus, so this is what real men shoot who don't want to drop $1299.99 on an AR-15 which fires a .22 round and that's made out of recycled milk jugs and Legos. Many of them come with a bayonet that's roughly the size of the sword William Wallace used in Braveheart. In the absence of gun oil, you can clean a Mosin by Urine down the barrel and wiping the bolt off with a dirty rag that you found on the floor in a Grease Monkey. Try that with a rifle that was designed less than 50 years ago. Joe: " I need a rifle that is ten feet long and fires anti-tank rounds, but Ive only got 200 dollars!" Ivan: "Amerikan comrade, you need mosin-nagant . Spend 100 on the rifle, fifty on case of ammo, use rest for vodka!" In Soviet Russia, rifle fire you!!!2 points

Buyer Beware, Pringles Bacon flavored chips taste absolutely nothing like bacon... Do not even try them out of curiosity as it may taint your primal urges to try other bacon flavored foods in the future. Also that weird taste continues to linger hours later when you burp and just want to forget you ever heard of these things.2 points

I'm just glad someone shut him down before he ended up killing someone. i never let the buyer pick the place for the transaction. it takes place on my turf and I am always aware of the surroundings. I also watch the way the buyer is acting and I am always ready to react with my carry weapon and on many if not most of the times I have done deals I have a friend that is also armed go with me. Any time large sums of money or firearms sales are taking place everyone needs to stay crisp...............jmho2 points

It's made from 1084 carbon steel 5/32" thick. Total length is just over 10" with a blade length of about 5 1/2". It's a big knife with indigo blue dymondwood for scales and stainless steel pins and lanyard hole. The spine has file work from the handle to about 1 1/2" from the point. As you can see it is a drop point design. I acid etched this blade except for the edge which I protected and also gave it a bit of a design. This knife turned out terrific...it's one of my favorites. The handle is made for a big hand. It's thick but nicely contoured to fit the hand. I'll be making more of this blade design in the future. It's of good size and the shape lends itself to many different design opportunities.1 point

I am as well. I also offer to ride shotgun with any of my friends if I know they are going to a deal. Even if they are armed, a second set of eyes, more than one armed person, and also the hopes that if anyone was froggy, that they may change their mind. I feel a little less paranoid meeting anyone on here, but I don't do anything extra when going to any meet because I stay armed. Just hope I never have to say "Whew, thank God I had it". Stay safe my friends.1 point

You are going through what all new gun enthusiasts go through. You are looking for the one gun for all applications. … it isn’t out there. But the good news is you don’t have to choose between revolvers or 1911’s or Tupperware guns. Finding the right guns becomes an addiction. And like all addictions there is a cure; but as with other addictions it won’t be cheap. But there is hope, a light at the end of the tunnel if you will; many of us here have found the cure. Here is an example of what it looks like.... k1 point

Yes, very nice. Those 625's are worshiped by many, but not too much my thing. When I went through the police academy a few years ago one of the firearm instructors from Oak Ridge PD carried a 625 as a duty weapon. He could easily dump 12 rounds into a target in 5 seconds.1 point

You guys and your 640 no dashes make me sick! Do you know how many times a day I beat my head into the wall because I sold mine? Actually, I ditched the stainless j frames for stainless k frames, particularly matching 2" 64's. I was thinking that adding an extra round was well worth the extra 4oz. Hindsight I should have kept a 640 and only bought one 64.1 point

I am a j and k frame fan, the only thing to keep in mind is that both the J and k frames should only digest a small amount of 357mag and preferably heavier than 140gr magnums. The J frames are actually a little stronger but still not bulletproof. Unfortunately L and N frames just don't do it for me but I would love a 3" S&W 610.1 point

IMO dry fire practice is as important if not more important that shooting live rounds. Everything about shooting except for the bang can be worked on in dry fire. The draw, sight picture, target transition, reloads, movement and other gun manipulations are practiced in dry fire and the results confirmed in live fire.1 point

Greetings all. Just moved from the Great Lakes state to the Franklin area. My wife is from the south and she says she can de-program the yankee out of me in no time. lol It is a beautiful part of the country and I can't wait to settle in. Anyone have tips on good Gun shops, places to shoot, oh and I guess I will need recommendations for a good CCW class sometime in the next six months when my Michigan CPL becomes invalid.1 point

The stainless Smith & Wesson Revolvers you mentioned are expensive and dealers have to sit on them when they are in stock. Although they are fine handguns, they don't sell well at all. For instance, last year I lusted after a Smith & Wesson 640 Pro at a local shop. After taxes the j-frame would have ran right around $800. I didn't "need it, " I wanted it. I didn't have the money and couldn't justify trading in for a loss on what I considered a better carry gun (Glock 26). Besides that, $800 would buy two Smith Airweights. I began saving up and would check on the 640 monthly. It stayed in the case for 7 months before someone else purchased it. That is 7 months before I saw it. I have no idea how long it had been at that shop. There's a gunshop in every grand division of TN that has a great revolver selection. All of those shops charge a premium for having that selection because they can't move the inventory. My suggestion: buy used and look online.1 point

I've given up the hope of it returning to "normal", can't even say I really care anymore. My reasoning is this: 1) I'm still able to buy 500 round bricks for $50 or so and could do so probably twice a week availability wise if I desired. It's out there 2) Even at 10-12 cents per round it's at least half cheaper than my 9mm weapons, and at least 1/3 cheaper than my .223 I'm not going to pay more than what I've listed for it because there's simply no need, I've found plenty in that range. I still get to shoot. Shooting is my biggest hobby, and my favorite. If I can shoot my 22lr weapons at 1/2 and 1/3 the prices of my others, I will continue to do so. I'm not going to let the stress of gouges, resellers, and so forth outweigh the relief I get from shooting. Do prices of rimfire suck compared to what they were? Absolutely. Ammo manufacturers don't care if you get your ammo or if joe smo buys and resells it. In the end, they're getting their money either way. The only way they would start to care is if distributors had to return their stock to the manufacturers because they couldn't sell it. That will NEVER happen. I hate to speak in absolutes, but I can promise you it won't. I know that the 22lr situation is rough, and I'm not going to make any new fiends from this post, but I'm tired of trying to find "solutions" and so on. If you see a scalper selling his wares for double the price somewhere, report him or do whatever you see is necessary. But for me I'll continue to buy when I can, at the best prices I can find on these here interwebz, and continue to plink, train, and enjoy my hobby. As always, YMMV1 point

If you really want to go out to a tropical place visit the Philippines (no worries almost everyone speaks english there), plane costs are about the same as Hawaii, costs once you get there are about 10-15% of what Hawaii costs. last time we were there, he had a two story penthouse on a white sand beach, free food, 2 free massages in the room for $80/day. other time we went, we were in a suite with about a 50 foot long glass wall overlooking the ocean, jacuzzi in the middle of the room, step out the door onto the roof and you were just a few feet away from the pool... for $50/night Scuba trips, $80/person gear included. personal driver with a car $35-$40/day dinner at 4-5 star restaurants about $20/person Have no clue why anyone still visits that state as much as everything costs..No way anyone could tell this place from the "mystical" Hawaii... except our bank accounts here's how clear the water is in some of the places, that's about 30-40 feet down and you could see the fish swimming near the bottom:1 point

Not speaking for Dol, but It's all BATF. The only thing TCA seems to have a say on at all regarding anything non-NFA regarding length is that part of "handgun" definition is having a barrel of under 12 inches. Not that having one with barrel of 12" or over is illegal, and TCA doesn't mention just what it would like to call that. Guess could technically figure into HCP carry though. At any rate, a muzzle device doesn't figure into legal OAL unless permanently attached because it's not considered part of the barrel unless it is, and OAL length is measured to the end of the barrel. I've never found anything that has ever been ruled as contributing to the butt end of a firearm for OAL except a grip or stock. Dunno if that answered your exact question, though. - OS edit: oh, you asked for a link. Here's a BATF letter explaining how OAL is determined and measured (on page 3) http://home.comcast.net/~routedriver/pub/misc/OAL/OAL1.png http://home.comcast.net/~routedriver/pub/misc/OAL/OAL2.png http://home.comcast.net/~routedriver/pub/misc/OAL/OAL3.png1 point

Ya, I think the 22 cazyness is still going strong mostly because so many people are still buying/hoarding it. I've also read that its pretty low on the list of calibers for manufactures to produce because the profit margin is so low. I know I've walked away from shooting 22lr for now. Which sucks because it is so fun, but half the fun was also tied to it being so cheap to shoot, not anymore! I can't bring myself to shoot any when I think about how I used go shoot a 500 rnd box for fun over a few hours for around $20. I've bought a little here and there over the last few months (like real little, like maybe 1-2k rnds), but it was all from the store at resonable prices and I was buying other calibers anyway. I hope it comes back to the old normal, and sooner than later, but I've mostly put it out of my mind and just go shoot my centerfire cartridges.1 point
