Target, Chipotle, Chili's, Starbucks - all have "respectfully" requested that patrons not bring firearms inside. No bans; no posting signs, nothing. So, really, nothing has changed. My theory is that they did what they did to get the Moms Who Don't Get Any Action off their backs, and it worked like a charm. Let them think they've won. They're more likely to underestimate us.9 points

Here's the thing, in reality, they did nothing at all. They did the exact same thing as Starbucks and Chipotle. They released a statement asking customers to leave their guns at home. The focus of which is directed at asshats like Open Carry Texas and others walking around with rifles. What is important to take note of is what they didn't do.(just like Starbucks and Chipotle) That is post their locations against carry. Moms Demand Action From Bloomberg gets to crow about a victory while normal folks will continue to go about their business and carry into Target like we always have before. Target gets to go about their business of selling stuff to folks who don't like going to Walmart instead of being used as a pawn by both sides of a debate they couldn't give a shit about. If we 2A folks really want to do ourselves a favor we would stop dragging innocent 3rd parties into it. This isn't a zero sum, with us or against us fight. Let MDAFB make asses of themselves instead of helping them accomplish their goals by being egotistical dickwads. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD7 points

So you can't carry an AK47 into a target anymore? Hopefully broadswords and chainsaws are still okay. Seriously, why is this an issue? You can still carry concealed. They just don't want folks bringing an arsenal into their establishment and scaring off customers. If there was a rash of dudes open carrying dildos into the kids' section of Target I'm sure they'd come up with a policy for that too. This has absolutely nothing to do with the second amendment. Target will still have my business. Just shopped there yesterday, as a matter of fact. Had a bullet launcher on me the whole time. Hooray for discretion! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Persoanlly I have zero problem with what they have said. Just like most businesses Target does not want to get into the 2nd amendment fight and just want to make money. If they chose to ban firearms or if they chose to openly allow firearms that would cost them customers. By being vague they have appeased both sides and probably increased their customer base by doing so. I will shop there because they do allow me to carry my handgun. I have no intentions of carrying my guns openly so their decision does not affect me .4 points

How do background checks of any kind keep felons and the mentally ill from getting firearms?4 points

It sucks, but Target and these other businesses are being backed into a corner... Kwikly. :pleased:4 points

My wife has been with Target for years. They had a big pow-wow this morning to discuss this memo. They were specifically told that Target has made their announcment, and it is done and over. No more action, and if the team members spot someone legally carrying in the store, they are to say nothing, do nothing and contninue on with their jobs. They will not be posting. They will not be asking anyone to leave their store. They just did a dog and pony show to get some over zealous folks ON BOTH SIDES to hush. Thankfully here in Kentucky concealed means concealed, and there is no crime in carrying past a posting. But again, I am not concerned about Target posting.3 points

Here's a suggestion for a new logo: 3 points

I noticed the term "open carry" when I read it earlier as well. I think they are basically saying, don't come in and be a douchebag even if "open carry" is legal in your state. I am curious if there is anything specific about concealed carry.3 points

With that said, do some Departments go overboard with toys and militarization? Absolutely. But lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater with some of these blanket statements.3 points

This is nothing more than a "request", and they will not be posting gun buster signs. Nothing to see here.2 points
-
Because they don't want to ban legitimate carry. They want to chase off the idiots2 points

I think one important question was missing? "If you answered 'yes' to all or the majority of the previous questions, is it because you're a bald faced liar and will kiss anyone's ass simply to get their vote?" If they answered 'no,' then you know the answer is 'yes.'2 points

It's hilarious how the over-zealous nutjobs on OUR side are causing us more trouble lately than the over-zeolous nutjobs on THEIR side. WTF good can come of toting rifles into a big box retail store to cause a scene...just because you can?2 points

Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said the retailer will not post signs at its stores asking people not to bring guns inside. "It is not a ban," she said. "There is no prohibition." http://www.columbian.com/news/2014/jul/02/target-asks-customers-not-to-bring-guns-to-its-sto/2 points
plus adding that target is owned by a French Corporation located in France.................jmho
Target was founded in Minneapolis, MN in 1902 and is still headquartered there. It is not, and never was owned by any French entity. There is a longstanding joke about Target being a French store and pronouncing the name as Tar-jhay. That has more to do with joking about Target being more upscale than Walmart when in reality they are both mass market, big box discount retailers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD2 points

Well, except for the fact that it goes against the grain of the Constitution and the right to bare arms plus it goes against the legal codes of the states that do allow a person to legally carry a firearm concealed or otherwise it doesn't bother me one bit that Target were Gun Free Zone because I have only been in one of their stores one time and was looking for their fishing section and I was informed they didn't have one so never went back and don't ever plan to plus adding that target is owned by a French Corporation located in France.................jmho2 points

I see it as the greatest advance since possessing a loaded firearm became illegal in the first place. Unlike the HCP it's a nod to actual constitutional carry -- even though it's still once removed from carry on the person it's the first actual universal carry freedom in public of any kind since 1870. - OS2 points

These things really are garbage for waging war. A great tool for approaching a known hostile, armed individual in an urban setting though. Cops have to do really dangerous things sometimes. I don't have a problem with them being safe while they do it. I don't suppose there are many here who would volunteer to run into gunfire unarmored simply because it makes other people uncomfortable to have the right gear.
I just got back from MI. It went from $3.66 to $4.00 in one hour last Thursday. Personally I'm glad to home to a free state. Also saw TWO convoys going south on 65, each 1.5 miles long in IN. Seriously loaded stuff. Another buddy of mine mentioned a number of trains in NJ pulling 100+ cars of MIL items moving south as well. That ain't guard action friends.
You realize that military units from all over the country travel to Camp Atterbury in Indiana to use their state of the art training facilities, right? I was in a few of those convoys years ago. Boy, I bet that got the Alex Jones' of the internet all riled up. Anyone from that area is immune to seeing that stuff go up and down the highway. Just because you happen to see it on your way back from MI is an indication of nothing. You aren't used to seeing it and you had probably no idea the tens of thousands of military personnel that travel there every year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

This is something I hadn't considered, and now I feel like an idiot. :ugh: The plastic PK380 case is in the top of a bedroom closet, and is visible when the doors are open. My other handgun cases are elsewhere. He could have figured out the box was empty just by picking it up and noticing the weight. I know he did check closets because he asked her about the safe in the other bedroom closet. No conspiracy here, so back to your regularly scheduled life. Sorry about that. :surrender:1 point

I highly doubt they had any clue you had a pk380 when they arrived. Do you have to boxes they came somewhere they would have seen them while clearing the house, say in a closet they opened? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Reason is they are ticked at the TFA for calling them out on their method of killing legislation, using the Naifeh committee gambit, never put anything on the floor and take a vote, whack it under direction of leadership, as the Chamber does not like the thought of more armed Citizens. If you see all "No" votes, they did not return the survey. Holt posted his on Facebook all shot up. The complete transformation of the Republicans who used the TFA as a cudgel to get rid of Naifeh, promising Nirvana for gun rights should they ascend to the throne, turned against the mere mention of the word once they had the Supermajority.1 point

I picked up one of these to hold me over until my TGO group buy knife comes in - it is surprisingly sturdy and well-bulit, and I really like the way it looks. The only problem I have with it is that I keep dropping it when I open it.. Guess it will take me a bit to get used to an automatic http://www.bladehq.com/item--Schrade-Smedy-Automatic--20491 point
