Does anyone know how to clean bloodstains at the DNA level and where to get lye in bulk? No reason, just asking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk12 points

How on earth would they even know who owns guns in free states where folks can buy firearms face to face? This is cute, but holds zero water, imho. Sure, I'm sure I'm on a list somewhere, but I know a number of folks who've never filled out transfer paperwork but can still defend themselves if needed.4 points

Only my second time finishing/staining furniture of any kind and the first time ever on a gun stock. But I've been working on/off for about 2 months on this stock set trying to recreate the color tones of SVD furniture for my Vepr-nov build and finally finished her tonight. I spent tons of time researching the colors of original russian SVD furniture and they really seem to run the gambit of color pallet. It can be orange-ish, honey brown, or even a little reddish brown. In the end I went with a iodine/acetone undercoat to get that orangish glow and to pop the grain on the tiger maple. Then I layed on a heavy coat of minwax red mahogany which took weeks to dry completely. Then 3 coats of satin polyurethane. The stock set itself(Rhineland Arms) had no fitment issues but I did have to trim up the slots in the handguard. The forward retaining screw in the tang did sit a little high after being fully tightened and required me to do some hand fitting/filing with the recoil rod assembly. Rhineland ships you a test block of wood cut from the same lumber as your stock set so that you can experiment with stains, etc. I tried all kinds of formulas and recipes all over the net but in the end the combo listed above seemed to produce the best results. Anyways - here she is...2 points

With the proviso that some cargo pants offer greater flexibility with respect to pocket carry of handguns I'll offer my $00.02 worth of insight. The LC9 proved itself a bit to large for pocket carry by me. I found the same to be true of the Walther PPK/s, KT PF9 and Colt Detective Special. S&W 2" J Frame Airweights are doable but feel bulky. The Ruger LCP, KT P3AT & P-32 work agreeably. I've also pocket carried a Beretta Jetfire Model 950 in 25 ACP and a Baby Browning (Bauer) 25 ACP's. Now for some methodology; I tend to avoid wearing "tactical pants" and "cargo pants" because just like a fanny pack if your a guy of a certain age they highlight you as a probable gun carrier. I don't like that or want it, preferring instead to be the "grey man" in the back ground no one notices. There's a lot of merit to not drawing undue attention to oneself. So as much as I dislike pocket carry I find myself out and about with a LCP of proven reliability a lot more often than with a SA XDs9 or SR92 points

And if you dont want/need to practice alot with it or make it a range gun, I had a S&W M&P340 that I loved for its purpose. .357mag Jframe, Scandium frame, stainless cylinder. Weighed nothing but packed a hell of a punch.2 points

The Kahr PM9 is a good pocket carry and its more economical CM9 should be too. My PM9 has night sights and everything else is original. The Kahr's have a trigger somewhat like a revolver, long and smooth. Mine is extremely accurate, light, slim profile and a pleasure too shoot.2 points

The LC9 has a striker fired version now. They GREATLY improved the trigger.2 points

This is an interesting thread. I've got my road rage stories too and agree that many drivers are truly unaware behind the wheel. I find it interesting, however, in this whole thread there's not been a bad driver. And when speaking to others at work or in public, etc. I've never met a self proclaimed bad driver. I say this humorously, but since we all talk about bad drivers and have never met all these bad drivers we talk about, where do the bad drivers live and work that they are never in public? :) Also, pertaining to the tailgating, I do my best to keep a decent distance between myself and the car ahead of me, it seems like an invitation for everyone to cut in front me though. It's almost defensive driving to tailgate just to avoid people cutting me off at times. I ride a motorcycle too it's truly amazing the things I see on it. Just my .021 point

If the 3-inch j-frame is truly everything you want in a small handgun, but not quite suitable for pocket carry, I'd probably go with either a S&W Airweight, Ruger LCR, or maybe a steel j-frame with a slightly shorter barrel, like a 640. Pretty close to the gun that's everything you want, and much more pocketable. You might also try the new LC9s - I hear the trigger is much, much better than the old LC9.1 point

Yup, my first choice for pocket carry years ago, have never had any reason to look further. Still nothing with 6+1 9mm capacity any smaller. Amazing recoil dampening too, some kind of voodoo apparently. - OS1 point

A tough schedule ahead. At least we may get some respect back. When I was a kid, every team in the country hated to go to TN, now it is not that way. We have to put the fear back in them. JTM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Not bad. The defense looked great. Offense had a few mistakes, but looked to be just nerves of young and inexperienced players. Butch has definitely made his mark.1 point

IMHO Berettas are just beautifully built handguns. If you buy one, odds are it won't be your last. I'll definetely buy a TN built model, but Cougars have always been my favorite to shoot. If you ever have the chance to try out a Beretta Cougar you'll fall in love. 8040 D Cougar (No safety or decocker...just point & shoot) 92G & 96G Elites1 point

I'll buck the tide -- wouldn't much care about having a full auto anything. I guess a three round burst AR would be rather cool, and perhaps even "practical" after the Big Crash, but full auto, nah. edit: Well, then again maybe just one AK with a drum, in case I needed to do the "kill everyone in the room at the poker game" type thang. ;) - OS1 point

With Beretta moving their whole shebang to TN, that sort of seems like heresy! Btw, my take on the Tarurus "92" is that they are likely the best thing Taurus makes, many folks like the decocker location better, and they'll work well until they don't -- which isn't likely nearly as long as the McCoy. But again, wouldn't you like to have one made in TN? I have two 92FSs and dang if I won't be tempted to do some kind of deal on one to get one that says TN on it. But I guess it may be a good long while before the first ones roll out. - OS1 point

Well, it poured most of the day and seeing as how I don't wanna get my powder wet.... :D i ran a rod down the barrel once more and filled my big powder horn with FFFG and the little one with FFFFG. I plan to go out tomorrow morning and do some serious shooting with it so maybe I can get a decent range report in. I'll take my tried and true Hawkins to put a couple of rounds out then give the ole flintlock a work out. I was gonna bring out my .45-100 but I think I'll devote the whole session to ole Mr. Flint. Ok without starting a riot by stating the obvious or mentioning any team names. The orange vest with the reflective tape are the new collegiate fall wardrobe line. The orange is in support of your favorite team and the reflective tape is so you don't get run over on the highway while performing community service.1 point

Here is my checklist to see if something should be accessible on the open market... 1) Do police officers have it for individual use? 2) Do Soldiers have it for individual use? If the answer is yes to either question, then it needs to be available to the public as well. Nothing should be exclusive for LE/MIL use only and no police officer or Soldier should have a quantitative arms edge over the public with their individual kit.1 point
