  1. Well, in this "red wave" the nation succeeded in throwing out a bunch of assholes with a D next to their names and elected a bunch of assholes with an R next to their names. The status quo remains. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  2. Man, you all kill me.  Even when we win we lose is it?     I love to listen to the ideological "they are rino's" or "it doesn't matter" talk.  If the only way for you to be happy is if the entire Senate and House go far right conservative, you are not only delusional, you are in for a long life of whining and crying, and to be frank, I am tired of the whining and crying.  Everyone sounds like a Debby Downer.   We all know it isn't perfect and isn't going to be perfect.  Why not just be glad that progress what made towards the ideology you want even if it isn't perfect.  There is just too much negativity around everything around here these days and it's a shame as it use to be a pretty enjoyable place most of the time.

  7. I would like to have a law passed that would make CCW permit holders exempt from background checks (NICS) since the permit already verifies that we are able to own a firearm.  Since the NICS is only supposed to be a verification of legality to own and no other purpose, then a CCW permit makes it obsolete.   Thoughts?

  10.   I actually don't think that is a good analogy to be honest, it only refers to one side.  For me, it is more like there is a dog in between two people.  The first person pulls out some chicken and the dog starts to run towards that person.  The other person then pulls out steak and the dog turns around and runs towards the steak before he gets the chicken.  This goes on and on back and forth as each person keeps pulling out more food.  In the end neither one gets the dog to come to them and both are pissed because they think the dog should like chicken or steak more than the other.   What they should have done was both go towards each other and give the dog some steak and some chicken and everyone can be happy.  Instead, no one is happy, including the dog.  I am not sure this is much better than yours, but I simply made it to point out that there are two sides.  You can believe there are plenty of people who have more reason to not be happy about the results than you today if they really believe in the liberal way.     In the end, I wish more people would focus less on what they perceive as negatives and focus more on the positives.  Many don't want to do that because then they can't hear themselves bitch.

  11. I've been watching a movie, but now enjoying watching MSNBC trying to find the few bright spots and hearing the excuses.   Joni Ernest, the Iowa Hog Castrater was victorious for US Senate, and the Republican Branstand kept the Governor's seat, good start for the 2016 kickoff, eh?   And Scott Walker held on over all the screaming UnionZeds and other commies in WI!   - OS

  14.   It's a conditioned response from years of voting and being let down. Very much like if you call a dog to you then run it off, call him to you and run him off, after a while he just sits and stares at you when you call him to you. Now do you get it?

  16. Sadly I agree. I mean I'm happy that the Obozo lover's were defeated and all but I'm not enthusiastic about the prospects that anything will significantly change for the  better. Republicans have been in charge before and they just pissed it away......just sayin'.

  23. Regardless of how you feel about the Republicans that won, the election went better for conservative governing than any in the last 2 full cycles. That is good. If anyone wants the new Majority in the Senate to ride Cowboy over the Democrats,... you need to go make a pendulum, -- pull it back and watch it swing for a while. The only way to stop the liberal freight train is to dampen the motion of that pendulum. Any Republican cowboy-ing now is energy in their batteries down the road. We need to play the game smart, not hard. That requires great political skill, impeccable face-to-face respect, firm goals and a good bit of sacrifice. Any other way keeps playing into the hands of the money-grubbing media machine - which make their money by polarizing the market and playing to the extremes. They are farming media consumers at the expense of the our future. Helpful politics aren't 100% of what anyone wants.

  25. In the state of TN, your employer can fire you if they find out you simply like guns. In my opinion anyone that supports freedom and liberty should agree with me. When someone is pulling money out of their pocket and paying you to do work for them, they should be able to stop the flow of that money to you for any reason they prefer. Gators fan? Wore mismatched socks by accident? Interrupted your boss during a meeting? Ate a hamburger in front of your vegan boss? Showed up to work late. Showed up to work early. Drive a foreign vehicle. Drive a Ford. Drive a Chevy. Keep a gun in your locked car. Any of those reasons are good enough to fire someone in the state of TN. You don't need a reason in the state of TN to fire someone. What protecting gun owners in the way you suggest would do is create another protected class. I'm sure we need another one of those don't we? Then anytime someone that had a gun in their vehicle that got fired would claim it was for that reason. See the problem? Also, as anti-gun as this may sound to some, it is perfectly within the right of an employer to fire you for even liking guns. They could fire you if they wanted if they found out you were a member of TGO. They should have this right. Anything contrary to that is government interference.

  29. I agree with Hozzie. After reading this thread I'm not sure what we were supposed to do. Vote for the Dems? Become hermits and hope for a governmental collapse? Jump off a bridge? We deal with the issues we can today and tomorrow we'll do the same in hopes to create a climate of change in government. (See what I did there) I bet the same things were said when Reagan didn't have congress or Clinton. But life moves on and we fight the good fight the best we can.

  30. The problem is, what Americans are being dished out is not chicken nor steak. It's a $hit sandwich. The only thing different is one side dishes out more $hit than the other. That's what we are bitching about.

  31.      I am an SCV member and go to lots of events but I don't re- enact as a soldier. My wife and I do living history demonstrations as civilians. Start by talking to people in your camp that re- enact then go to an event or two and ask about  weapons. men I know are glad to advise and many will have a rifle or so they would part with. Also you can go to the Blockade Runner between Wartrace and Bell Buckle. The Smiths (owners) are good folks and have most of what you would need. They to will advise you on guns and clothes.

  33.   If your employer is truly at will, they could fire you for 'anything else' (bad cause, good cause, or no cause at all....as long as it isn't for unlawful cause - Title VII protected class, for example).  They could fire you 'because you wore a purple shirt that day' - totally arbitrarily and capriciously - but have the hidden pretext that it was because you were known to (or even suspected to) have a gun in your car.  In wrongful termination claims, proving such pretext is darned near impossible.  As long as they show that they complied with the at-will statutes, or showed a valid business reason, you would have the burden of proof shift to you to prove pretext.  So....having a protection in T.C.A. that they can't fire you because of violating their parking lot restrictions really would serve no practical purpose.

  34. Thanks for all the info guys. I ended up buying a complete PSA M4 premium upper with a few extras for a great price from another fine TGO'er. Nothing special but it will get me into the AR world. Now I just have to put this and my lower in the closet for a month and a half until Christmas so I can "unwrap" it.

  47. If you buy the Enfield they are sold as .58 cal. It shoots the Minie Ball and packs one heck of a wollup! The true caliber is .577 and the .58 minie ball will have to be put through a sizing die for best loading and accuracy. Don't fret none....I think I have an extra one in the shop that I will give to you.   I do a lot of reenacting and my favorite was Civil War Artillery. Just something about having a "big gun" that gives you a sense of superiority. Now, I went back to my Longhunter/Woodland Indian persona.     Welcome to the SCV, and reenacting!   Dave
