Merry Christmas........Enjoy: Luke Chapter 2 1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/book.php?book=Luke&chapter=2&verse=8 points

Actually we got the best Christmas present we could ever ask for. Her name is Madalynn and she was here a little early for Christmas but a Christmas baby none the less. We could not be happier to have a grand daughter to spoil. Definitely changes the way you view life. My only Christmas wish is for our son to come home and met her next month. He has been deployed since July, and missed the birth, but he should be home within a month.8 points

The next time you hear some protester rattle off an old diatribe of invective about police "harassment", remember that there are some cops out there that have a sense of humor about this. I'm not making "light" of the current racial tensions that exist in our streets. I'm simply saying that our police have a hard enough time of it just keeping the peace in the good times, let alone times like these. So, for all my cop friends out there, this is for you... A Police Officer from Chula Vista, California (a suburb of San Diego) had this to say when an anonymous emailer wrote this on the Departments Q&A website: Police Harassment: Recently, the Chula Vista, California Police Department ran an e-mail forum with the local community (a question and answer exchange) with the topic being, "Community Policing." One of the civilian e-mail participants posed the following question: "I would like to know how it is possible for police officers to continually harass people and get away with it?" From the "other side" (the law enforcement side) Sgt. Bennett, obviously a cop with a sense of humor replied: "First of all, let me tell you this...it's not easy. In Chula Vista, we average one cop for every 600 people. Only about 60% of those cops are on general duty (or what you might refer to as "patrol") where we do most of our harassing. The rest are in non-harassing departments that do not allow them contact with the day to day innocents. At any given moment, only one-fifth of the 60% patrollers are on duty and available for harassing people while the rest are off duty. So roughly, one cop is responsible for harassing about 5,000 residents. When you toss in the commercial business, and tourist locations that attract people from other areas, sometimes you have a situation where a single cop is responsible for harassing 10,000 or more people a day. Now, your average ten-hour shift runs 36,000 seconds long. This gives a cop one second to harass a person, and then only three-fourths of a second to eat a donut AND then find a new person to harass. This is not an easy task. To be honest, most cops are not up to this challenge day in and day out. It is just too tiring. What we do is utilize some tools to help us narrow down those people which we can realistically harass. The tools available to us are as follow: PHONE: People will call us up and point out things that cause us to focus on a person for special harassment. "My neighbor is beating his wife" is a code phrase used often. This means we'll come out and give somebody some special harassment. Another popular one: "There's a guy breaking into a house." The harassment team is then put into action. CARS: We have special cops assigned to harass people who drive. They like to harass the drivers of fast cars, cars with no insurance or no driver's licenses and the like. It's lots of fun when you pick them out of traffic for nothing more obvious than running a red light. Sometimes you get to really heap the harassment on when you find they have drugs in the car, they are drunk, or have an outstanding warrant on file. RUNNERS: Some people take off running just at the sight of a police officer. Nothing is quite as satisfying as running after them like a beagle on the scent of a bunny. When you catch them you can harass them for hours to determine why they didn't want to talk to us. STATUTES: When we don't have PHONES or CARS and have nothing better to do, there are actually books that give us ideas for reasons to harass folks. They are called "Statutes"; Criminal Codes, Motor Vehicle Codes, etc...They all spell out all sorts of things for which you can really mess with people. After you read the statute, you can just drive around for a while until you find someone violating one of these listed offenses and harass them. Just last week I saw a guy trying to steal a car. Well, there's this book we have that says that's not allowed. That meant I got permission to harass this guy. It's a really cool system that we've set up, and it works pretty well. We seem to have a never-ending supply of folks to harass. And we get away with it. Why? Because for the good citizens who pay the tab, we try to keep the streets safe for them, and they pay us to "harass" some people. Next time you are in my town, give me the old "single finger wave." That's another one of those codes. It means, "You can't harass me." It's one of our favorites. Hopefully sir, this has clarified to you a little bit better how we harass the good citizens of Chula Vista. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Sincerely,7 points

Sadly, I bet a lot of Professors agree with this idea, and will just go ahead and do it. How about we just go ahead and give out degrees too. Especially if you have some life experience. You say you used to deal drugs? Here's your Pharmacy license. You stabbed somebody once? Here's your surgeons license. Strong arm robbery? We'll make you an IRS Manager. Con artist? First off there are going to be some people who will not be on TGO for Christmas, maybe longer. If you think it might be you I suggest you get a hold of me and promise me you are going to knock your antics off. If you are one and you do not reach out you will be gone with a capital G. I am in the holiday spirit and believe in giving people second chances but the present you get tomorrow morning will not be a pleasant one if you don't come to terms with what maintaining a good fellowship with others really means. We are a family of gun owners that should be all on the same team but as usual some of our fellow gun owners have figured out a way to divide a small group into even smaller opposing groups. We are the best at eating our own and this thread is a perfect example. Rather than live with the fact someone has a differing opinion some have chosen to use the left's favorite tactic and use name calling, personal attacks and misinformation as a means to try to convince others their opinions are all that matters. I will clue you in to something, your opinion means exactly squat when it is mixed in with attacks on others. Second, realize the original post was a message to warn fellow gun owners and regardless of who it came from I appreciate anyone looking out for me or the other members of the gun community. If you think the message is BS then say so and move on but do not try to convince everyone else that your opinion is the right opinion, that is for them to decide not you. Regardless if you love, hate or are indifferent to Costa one must realize that he probably sees more firearms in a year than anyone on this board, definitely more than anyone in this thread so far, and in the world of experts, specifically firearms experts, his experience puts him up the food chain higher than anyone here. Costa has been doing this for a very long time and seen a lot of people, with a lot of different guns, come through his classes and despite what anyone thinks about his tactics or training his experience training people makes him an expert on what is normal and what is abnormal. And as far as the 3 gun insult realize that it is civilian competitions that have generated 90% of the military tactics. It is also civilians that come up with 90% of the newest fighting gear. I know of a lot of civilian competitors who regularly teach our military on tactics. And in closing I suggest everyone get a bit of the Christmas spirit and quit arguing. During the holidays we should be coming together as a family of gun owners rather than create animosity between us. The world we live in today is an awful place and the country we live in is falling apart around us yet we are going to fight amongst ourselves about a straightened elbow. Think about how silly that is. Some of you really do need to get a life or at least some perspective because things can be a lot worse than someone having a different opinion than you. Merry Christmas6 points

I've got all kinds of Christmas spirit. I'm not sure why we've let KingArmory last as long as he has, here. He's been quietly trying to circumvent vendor rules hoping no one would notice despite being warned not to advertise. This series of posts goes beyond that, though. Community is important. We do a lot to protect it. He's done here.5 points

Here's video showing the gun being pulled...cop was 100% justified. I know this may come as a shocker for some...but if you pull a gun on a cop, you are probably going to have a bad day... http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2014/dec/24/cctv-footage-antonio-martin-gun-police-missouri-video5 points

Merry Christmas! On behalf of myself and the Staff of moderators here at TGO, I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you find yourself surrounded by friends, family and loved ones this holiday season. If for any reason you are spending it alone, I hope that you are doing so by your own choice and that you find comfort and restoration in the peace and solitude that it brings. If you are alone this season against your will, please seek out others to spend the day with even if it is by donating your time to serve the less fortunate through a local church or civic organization. And above all, please be sure to keep the reason for this season in your hearts. Rarely will you see me use TGO as a pulplit to preach from, however I would be remiss if I did not remind you that Christmas is truly about Christ Jesus and God's gift of his precious Son so that you could enjoy eternal life with Him. (Luke 2:1-20) If you are traveling this week, please do be careful out there. And please be mindful of what's in your luggage if you are flying. Don't accidentally forget ammo or a firearm and end up spending the holidays somewhere you wish you weren't. ;)3 points

That's where he got the cut and bruises on his face. They should put that homeless guy up in a room and help find him a job.3 points

Come on, just get the RIA Tactical and you can afford to buy a lot of ammo. I have a SA Loaded that Rowdy wants me to get "running'. This isn't the first "high dollar" 1911 that I have had that runs like crap. I have owned 3 RIAs in 3 different calibers and they all ran....out of the box. If you need to you can always buy Wilson Combat internal parts and they will be 98% drop in, 100% in most cases, if you think you need "USA" internals. Rock Island, made by Armscor, are probably as well cast as anything that anyone in the world can turn out but want to bash because RIA delivers at an attractive price point for the common man.2 points

My very first gun was given to me by my father. It was a Remington Colt 1911A1 that he carried in WWII. It came home and was stuffed in his duffle bag until 1963 when I stumbled across it when I found the bag in the attic. I dragged it out of its holster and held it for a little while then came across a leather Leica camera case. I opened it and found it full of .45 mil ball ammo. That kinda of scared me so I put everything back into the duffle bag and left the attic. I was 11 years old. Roll forward to 1970. Out of school going into the military and I mentioned it to my father. He went upstairs, pulled it out of his bag and gave it to me. I will say the gun works flawlessly but I went through the camera bag of .45 cap the first time I shot it. I probably should have kept the ammo but back then we'd buy Enfields for $20 and hack the stock up to make them fine, lighter deer rifles. Ammo was just ammo. My Dad said he was going to bring his Garand home but figured he wasn't going hunting or anything so left it behind. Without going into the safe I'd have to say I probably have more than one and less than 10 or so :) . My normal carry, when I carry, is my Colt Officers Model. I also have a beautiful 1976 9MM Browning HP which is a safe queen. I shoot weekly and there is always a 1911 which me at the range. My Dad is still alive at 96 but has never asked about his 1911. I showed it to him once and he said it was just a tool he used back then. IMHO as far as a 1911 goes.... If it cycles and shoots and you want a pistol for protection you will never wear it out and in a draw and fire situation it will out shoot you. With the Remington it rattles like a toddlers toy and shoots without jamming and hits center mass every time if I do my part. I never bought one to shoot Bullseye so loose as a goose that shoots works just like it did for my Dad. Mr. Browning got it right. All the rest are like Mr. Stoners creation with everyone and their brother trying to turn a pig (AR) into a rose for the past 50 years. The money is in perception. If I tell you I made it better and you believe it and you buy it then you're happy and I earn a living. Is it really all that better? I'll stick with my 1911's for everyday use. My stable has always had Colt's, Rems and even a few RIA's. They are dependable and I have confidence in these tools. Long winded, yes but i really do love my 1911's.2 points

Cameras are pieces of hi-tech equipment that routinely fail, run dead on batteries, or fill up with memory. The big caveat here is that you must know when to turn them on since you can't run them all shift, and what started as a casual talk outside a gas station turned to this. Fortunately, it appears there is just enough clarity on the gas station camera to visualize the handgun.2 points

Screw that, LE needs a warrant for anything they collect. "Don't break the law" and "I have nothing to hide" are conditioning tools to get the smallfolk in line. I don't break the law, and I want to hide my privacy. They need a warrant if they want anything from me.2 points
