  1. Look, I know you signed up on a multitude of gun forums the same day you signed up here (Google is a wonderful tool) and it really seems that your reason for doing so is to post these videos on all of them and drive traffic up on your YouTube channel.  Don't care.   What I do care about is good information.  Stuffing cardboard into a cheap mag holder to force it to work with mags it wasn't designed for is thrifty, but not really the sort of gear you or anyone else should be trusting your life with.  This seems like a really bad idea.

  4. I don't mind gay people any more than I mind anyone else.  I don't support the lifestyle, I don't engage in the lifestyle, but what two men or two women do in the privacy of their own home is between them and God.  I just don't care to have to witness it.  Men or women.   The gay kiss and the fawning of Eric over Aaron was completely unnecessary and made both me and my wife gag.  The writers could have added gay male characters without gratuitous spit swapping and it would have been just as effective of a story-arc as what they have now.  It was done for (a.) shock value and (b.) to push the envelope of what is socially acceptable on television, period.   Anyone who wants to argue that 30-40 years ago it was just as edgy to feature interracial, white/black, kissing on TV -- for example -- is arguing from a disadvantaged position.  The parallel simply is not there from a biological perspective.  Someone else pointed out that the media is slowly shaping what the public is willing to deem acceptable, and I agree with that 100%.  Just beware that 30-40 years from now if the leftists have their way and keep eroding society's morals and ethics, someone may be having the same discussion we're having but instead of two men kissing and fawning over themselves, it could just as easily be a grown man and a 12 year old girl.   Today's taboos are tomorrow's topics of cultural diversity and inclusion unless people stand up for what's right.   The Walking Dead may have lost me as a viewer if they can't find a way to tell this story without two dudes graphically finding love inside of each other's sweaty, hairy butts.

  5. Can't wait for tomorrows excuses:    1) door frozen can't open, can't make it in 2) wind shield frozen, no scraper, can't make it in 3) brakes are frozen, can't move 4) I think the gas in my gas tank is frozen car will not start 5) driveway to slick wheels just spin, can't make it in 6) roads to slick, turning around can't make it 7) school just got canceled and my teenager needs me, can't make it in 8) it's still snowing what should I do? My response: Well I just drove through the drive in at McDonalds the ladies that just served me made it to work, your saying you can't? YES roads impassable can't make it in and BTW you have a 4x4. My response: your correct I do have a 4x4 but it was in 2WD.   I luv my job, best job I ever had!!

  6. ATF did rule against using machines that are used as part of a business. The on post craft shop is probably not considered a business. I would still try to buy a drill press it is a lot cheaper than replacing the lower you are going to ruin by half assing it.

  8.   Well said. I feel pretty much exactly like you do about the situation. I dont support it in any way form or fashion. Then again I believe we don't really have the right to tell other people how to live their lives. As you said, that is between them and god, and if it turns out to be an abominable sin, then they will have to answer for it at the pearly gates. I look at it kind of like a bad neighbor situation. You stay on your side of the fence and I will stay on mine. Dont push that lifestyle on me, which I feel is what this last episode of TWD did. They could have left the gay kiss out and not offended what I would GUESS to be well over half of their conservative, heterosexual viewing audience.

  9. Walmart sells REAL Savage bolt guns, not the Edge or Axis, for under $400 with a scope and Accutrigger. And they tend to be the most accurate rifles out of the box anymore, especially for the price. If you have some time check your local Walmart because they routinely put them on sale and you can get them for under $350.   Savages are like the 10/22 of the centerfire world. You can swap calibers at home without the need of a gunsmith. Used barrels can be bought for $50-$100 depending on what it is and new barrels can be had for $150-$200 for factory and $300 for drop in match barrels. To do a caliber swap on a Remington it will cost you $300+ in labor alone not including the barrel. Swapping barrels on a Savage takes 20 minutes while a Remington requires weeks at a smith.

  10.   Not for nothing, but the VA Secretary is recognized as a Republican, and is reported to donate exclusively to them.  He and his wife certainly gave money to that party.  Once again, we see lying is bipartisan.      It's sad.  Mr. McDonald served for five years on active duty with the 82d Airborne.  That alone, should be enough for anybody to be proud of.  There is no reason for him to try and embellish things, yet here we are.

  13.   On top of all that, the Talking Dead added "insult to injury" (for lack of a better term) by praising the show's producers and writers on their inclusion of this "touching" and "poignant" scene. A short interview with Andrew Lincoln revealed that he was also in favor of it and went on about how wonderful it was.   Let's face it - the gratuitous inclusion of graphic homoerotic scenes on television (and films, for that matter) are neither "brave" nor "ground-breaking" anymore, but that's the picture that the gay activists like to paint. Like you, David, I have nothing against any gay person. The first one I ever met was in college, and he and I were good friends and even lived on the same floor and wing of the dorm. He didn't shove it in my face (metaphorically speaking), and neither did I try to shove my beliefs down his throat. As a result of that positive experience and the mutual respect we had for each other in spite of our differences, I don't have any hostility or animosity towards anyone who's gay. I just don't want it shoved in my face and then told I'm homophobic or that my belief system is "tired" and "old" when my natural revulsion to it kicks in.   The name-calling and insults (both direct and indirect) that result from simply voicing one's disagreement with "alternative lifestyles" are childish and unproductive. Seems to me that the LGBT community has a serious PR problem; they have failed to sell themselves in a positive light to the general public, so they resort to trying to force their views down the throats of others via travesties such as so-called "hate crime" legislation and through character assassination and vilification. Remember the baker who didn't want to be associated with a gay wedding because it was in conflict with his beliefs as a Christian, and his reward for that was a lawsuit? THAT is what turns me off to it more than anything else - the expectation that somehow I MUST change my mind and discard MY beliefs or be labeled as something that I am most definitely NOT. If someone wants to be gay, it's none of my business. But when they tell me that something is wrong with me because I refuse to accept what I know is wrong, then it says far more about them than it does about me.

  15.   You may think it's a "tired old belief system", but it's still very much the majority. The moral values that a country is built on are never "tired", or "old".

  20. Everyone should own an AR imo, and there's never been a better time price wise to get into one. You mentioned "home defense if possible", I'm not seeing any options other than the Hipoint carbine mentioned that would double in that role. Trust me when I say you could do much worse than a hipoint carbine.

  21. Here's the savage 110 I got for cheap. I plan to eventually transform it into a long-range machine, but it's a fine rifle as-is for the price. As Dolomite said, upgrades are numerous.

  22. I would suggest a H&R Handy Rifle in .223. It is a single shot. I believe when I bought mine new it was around $200. .223 is fairly cheap when bought in bulk and is the next step up from a .22 even though it is much more powerful.

  24. Sadly, I can't answer the mag ring piece, but I have a Viper PST 2.5-10x44 that I am really impressed with.  Great glass, good reticle, precise clicks, and it has ridden a SCAR 17 308, and AR-10, and a Remington 700 in 300 Win Mag holding zero on all three.

  25. Honestly I don't mind the OP posting here and sharing good info even if it does help drive up YouTube visits.  I'm all for seeing someone contribute solid, useful information to the gun-owning community at large and will gladly support folks like that with traffic whenever I can send it their way.  But this idea of adapting a mag carrier to fit something it wasn't made for, with folded up bits of paper, really seems like stepping over a dollar to pick up a nickel.  Mag pouches just aren't that expensive, and if you can afford to feed your gun with ammo, you can afford to spend a little on good carry gear.   I've seen too many people give up carrying a firearm because they found it to be uncomfortable, or unwieldy, or inconvenient.  What's worse is that maybe 9 times out of 10, if they had just tried a good holster or a good belt or the right gun for their purposes, they'd have been successful and not ended up going unarmed.   This seems like it almost begs someone to "give up" after an what will invariably be an otherwise avoidable bad experience.

  27. No offense but you don't sound like you have a ton of experience? The mosin is an excellent rifle for its price, but it shoots a fairly punishing round and it weighs a ton.  If you *want* a stout recoil bench gun, its a good pick.    sks is the fore-runner of the AK and is an excellent semi-auto defense type rifle.    These two guns are polar opposites in every way...  one is a big heavy cannon that can shoot stuff half a mile away and the other a light semi auto that shoots a relatively weak short range round.    lets take money out of the equation.  You can find cheap in just about any platform short of competition guns.   So what exactly do you want to DO with it?  How much recoil do you want (roughly), how much range, how much are you willing to pay for the AMMO (big guns cost over a buck a shot if you buy it)?

  32. Wear safety glasses.  Isopropyl alcohol works quite well as a cutting fluid for aluminum with no oily mess to clean up afterwards.  I'd try to rig up some way to hold the dremel/drill steady... something you can hold it up against when moving back/forth.  I strongly recommend using a real end mill instead of drill bit.  They're both sharper and more rigid.  You can get one for under $20... http://www.mcmaster.com/#8918a27/=w2aik3

  45.   This is something that I struggle with too.  My wife's friend is married to a muslim.  She says he doesn't practice and doesn't seem to mind his wife's "western" ways, and the fact that she is really into pop-culture, etc, etc.  He has no accent of any kind and was raised in the US.  Most people wouldn't know he is of islamic heritage if they weren't told. He seems to be a typical Tennessean, except that he is very left leaning in his politics.   What I worry about is that as a Christian...if I have a faith-based crisis of conscience and decide I am not living the right way, I am going to become less dangerous.  I will go to church, and not drink so much, and do more works of charity.  If, on the other hand, he has a faith-based crisis of conscience, he may behead her and go shoot up a synagogue.  I fear that the "bad" muslims are the ones that are not dangerous...the ones that are good and faithful...they worry me.   I know this is not PC, but I can't help but be distrustful.  I mean, frankly, their religion is brilliant in that it directs them to deceive non-muslims ("us").  It means that anyone who knows that true muslims are instructed to deceive won't trust a non-practicing muslim for fear they are being deceived.  The distrust that the non-practicing muslim feels from "us" may drive them right back into the fold and radicalize them (or normalize them as the case may be).  The direction to deceive makes it difficult for a muslim to leave the religion as they will not be trusted by outsiders.  It makes it difficult for me to trust those that rebuke Jihad.
