A cop in Kansas did something beyond nice for a guy that seems to really deserve a hand up. If you have severe allergies, please be careful watching this video. ;) http://www.aol.com/article/2015/09/25/man-who-commutes-to-work-on-foot-brought-to-tears-by-roeland-par/21241158/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl21%7Csec1_lnk2%2526pLid%253D1921411607&intcmp=hplnws3 points

I believe McDonald vs Chicago is quite clear on the matter of firearm ownership, and specifically that of handguns, which was what the suit was about in the first place. - OS2 points

I know of no case law, federal or state of TN, where conviction for such would be found without direct proof of knowledge of such. That's why stings always include, "hey I don't live in your state, but...", or "I can't buy a gun from a dealer, but", or "I'm only 17, but..." Well, federal includes "reasonable cause to believe", so it's a bit more wiggle room for prosecution. As far as the minor part, TN law requires "Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly", so I suppose "recklessly" might be about the same as "reasonable cause to believe". But as per above comment, AFAIK burden of proof is about the same for both cases. - OS2 points

Watched an episode of Vice last night on HBO with POTUS in a federal prison talking to inmates about mandatory minimums, pleading out and their situation in general. Was one of the most respectable moments I've seen of him in 6 years. Story led into what happens after prison and precisely the situation that the guy in this video ended up in. People fuck up sometimes and now they are punished for life. POTUS brought up that thing about people not being able to ask if you were a criminal on applications, but allowing it during an interview, because most ex-cons are shut out of the opportunity from the get go as soon as they check off that box on the application. At least this way, they have a chance to explain during an interview.2 points

I think a lot of people buy them just as a status symbol and not for the real reason for which they were made. I have a guy across the street from my place that has a black Hummer. I am thinking that what he paid for the tires and wheels he had put on it could pay for a great college education in many colleges. I have never seen it dirty or driven in the rain.................. :shrug:2 points

Over a Year later and I am now convinced more than ever that this zombie thread is the Revenge of TankerHC! And for those newer members to TGO..., TankerHC was a flaming A-Hole who just didn't know when to back away from the keyboard. The SOB would private message you and attack your thread comments. Then came "The Rapture" where TGO David banished TankerHC to pre-tribulation where he now experiences hardships, disasters, famine, war, pain, and suffering. And forthwith Peace came upon TGO. And civil discussions on firearms and the topics of the day resumed...... ...... which gets me back on topic. I'm not a big fan of cheap 1911s.2 points

Went to Tennessee Gun Country yesterday looking at G43s. Richard let me shoot his set up. Nice G43. Went ahead and picked up one set up like his for a small carry piece. Going back today to wring it out. I don't usually go with small pistols but I think I need one for those special times.1 point

Simple rule of thumb for me, if my gun is not welcome, I am not welcome. Same goes for my wife. let me explain that one, she is blind, has a guide dog and we have been turned away from many well known restaurants, such as TGIF, I do believe in talking to the owners and trying to convince them that no gun signs are a sign of magical thinking. I ask them, do you really think that your sign will stop a bad guy who is desperate from robbing you, or an ex from coming in and shooting one of your employees or customers? if they are honest, they say no, it wont. Then ask, do you think it would prevent me from eating here? spending my money at your establishment? I have been back ground checked, not a felon, and I carry for my protection and my family protection only. Do you have a problem with that? They will probably say no. I have seen signs come down here in OKlahoma because I asked these questions. One response I did get was "I have the signs up to get a 10% discount on my insurance" I now carry a little folder, with the red circle and line drawn through it with a tornado in the middle. I tell them this sign should get you another 10%, and it will be just as effective or even MORE effective than their no gun sign. We cant be silent, but we can be polite. You be the difference!!!!1 point

I recommend getting into homebrew first. Nowadays it seems everyone is doing it, and you can find a plethora of online help and kits regarding it. Remember, making your mash is still the most important part... When we "graduated" to distilling we did it on a stove top reflux still we made to use in an apartment on a gas stove or grill - we had a made it out of copper, with the cooling unit being first - about a 10 foot small coil that we submerged in a fishing cooler and ran off into a 5 gal bucket. That would not evenly cool it so we went to a 18" downpipe and put a "muffler" over it with two spigots - one so we could run a water hose from out sink through it and another hose leading to the drain. Now - if you have a ton of room you can make a giant reflux still out of old copper water boilers and have your cooling unit setup anyway you see fit. It is a great hobby to get into - and when the world ends, you bet money people would trade you virgins and cigs for the stuff. A lot of work goes into it but it is a lot of fun and a great source of pride - especially when you have your own recipes. Other tertiary things to keep in mind are the type of plastics or glass you may or may not use to store/capture your end product. Fermentation of your mash. The Almighty Original Gravity. Different kinds of sugars and strains of yeast. Not drinking methanol. Hooyah! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk1 point

You really don't have that much of a legal obligation. You just have to have no reasonable reason to think they're not a TN resident or are a felon. No need to even ask from a legal perspective.1 point

I understand people not wanting guns to get into the hands of nut cases. However, if the government had any real concern about it they would have a solution that isn’t just letting an FFL charge whatever they want to do a transfer. As long as you don’t know the person is not allowed to purchase a firearm, and you get a signed bill of sale stating that he is legal to own, a resident of this state and shows proof of age; you have done all you can reasonably do. Gun stores sell guns to nut cases that can pass a background check and then they go on a shooting spree; so that possibility always exists when selling firearms.1 point

A woman meets a man in a bar. They talk; they connect; they end up leaving together. They get back to his place, And as he shows her around his apartment, she notices that one wall of his bedroom is Completely filled with soft, sweet, cuddly teddy bears. There are three shelves in the bedroom, With hundreds and hundreds of cute,Cuddly teddy bears carefully placed in rows, covering the entire wall! It was obvious that he had taken Quite some time to lovingly arrange them And she was immediately touched by the amount of thought he had put into organizing the display There were small bears all along the bottom shelf, Medium-sized bears covering the length of the middle shelf, And huge, enormous bears running all the way along the top shelf. She found it strange for an obviously masculine guy To have such a large collection of Teddy Bears, She is quite impressed by his Sensitive side. But doesn't mention this to him. They share a bottle of wine and continue talking and, After a while, she finds herself thinking, 'Oh my God! Maybe, this guy could be the one! Maybe he could be the future Father of my children?' She turns to him and kisses him Lightly on the lips He responds warmly They continue to kiss, the passion builds, And he romantically lifts her in his arms and carries her into his bedroom Where they rip off each others clothes and make hot, steamy love. She is so overwhelmed that she responds with more passion, More creativity, more heat than she has ever known. After an intense, explosive night of raw passion with this sensitive guy, They are lying there together in the afterglow. The woman rolls over, gently strokes his chest and asks coyly, 'Well, how was it?' The guy gently smiles at her, Strokes her cheek, looks deeply into her eyes and says: 'Help yourself to any prize from the middle shelf'1 point

Let me preface this with the statement that when the SHTF and society collapses, alcohol as a beverage is very likely to once again become a form of currency just as it was in the old days. Anyone who does even a casual bit of reading about the history of distilling spirits will quickly note how many ministers distilled bourbon and whiskey back in those times. It was to keep their families financially solvent; no man needs that much whiskey for himself. :) So, framed in those terms, I'd absolutely become a student of how to distill my own alcohol for drinking and medicinal purposes also as a survival tool. Learning doesn't have to mean doing either, and learning is still legal. But back to your stated purposes... that's pretty cool. :)1 point

If illegals are given amnesty (I bet that will be citizenship) and allowed to vote; another Republican will never be elected. It is beyond me how anyone can’t see that people coming here illegally for our social welfare programs will run up a bill that we (Taxpayers) can’t pay.1 point

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/55c9fbb9e4b0923c12be0ddb Remove the word illegal and voila, no laws are broken. I am not a xenophobe, were it not for legal immigration in 1916, I wouldn't be here. If immigrants are taught the laws are flexible and selectively enforced, how does that impact assimilation into society and how it could affect next and future generations?1 point

I haven't, but do own a variety of rifles in 250-3000 as well as 257 Roberts. As they are both 3000 fps rounds with an 87 grain projectile, it sure sounds like a great idea to me! If you find a 250-3000 or 257 Roberts that isn't accurate, somebody has likely screwed with it. They are perfect for whitetails and coyotes. The only downside I see is that here, I would fear a round of it would somehow find it's way into a 556 chamber. I'll keep my deer rifles with levers or bolts.1 point
