How about WE, as in staff, use the feedback system we have. If a member decides to be a turd behind the scenes leave him a negative feedback. With everyone having positives a negative would really stand out. We already have it in place and other members can see the feedback unlike our warning point system. Or if you want you can turn me loose on them. I don't care what they do to me as I already have experience in dealing with internet turds and have all the time in the world to hold them accountable.5 points

I would say the same thing about people who follow grown men playing silly games with a ball. Many people find fictitious things dumb or beneath them but sports are equally worthless. It's all pass time. If it makes you happy (and it's legal) it's all good.3 points

I always throw stuff like this up when folks say doesn't matter who's president. SCOTUS is ever so barely currently "for" gun rights (and even Scalia has opined that perhaps not every type gun is guaranteed by 2A). But imagine the changes the next four (and probably eight) years will bring in the court's makeup, with about half of them likely to leave by then. Though it's not a sure bet exactly what overall tone a court with 2-4 more appointed by a Republican prez, it's a damn sure bet what tone it'll be if same is done by a Dem like Hillary or Bernie or even Uncle Joe. It'll go so far left you'll need a 10x optic just to see it at all. - OS3 points

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame upon which I will post the names of members who have, for various reasons, earned themselves a public shunning. Extreme? Hear me out. :) Every so often I have to spend an hour or so of my time in email and on the phone fighting to keep $20. Because every so often someone buys a Benefactor membership here, uses it to post some ads in the Trading Post, and then goes to PayPal and disputes the charge saying that we charged them without authorization. Bear in mind that we do not do automatically recurring subscriptions for this precise reason. I never want TGO to automatically debit someone's account and be the reason why they overdraft at their bank, or can't buy groceries or put gas in their car. An unexpected debit could easily cause any of those scenarios to play out. So when someone buys a Benefactor membership, it's not a mistake. They did it willingly. And as most of you know, a Benefactor membership on TGO has some pretty immediate value and perks, the least of which not being the ability to use our Trading Post to post advertisements. Which means that anyone who summarily demands a refund from PayPal is essentially trying to defraud TGO and "screw the system", so to speak. And that's why I am tempted to start a Hall of Shame. Because if you're willing to rip us off, everyone ought to know it. What do you guys think?2 points

I read the article that Oshoot posted and in one of the replies, a person stated that they that statement was referring to her and Carl being able to sneak out of the compound so easily with all of the blindspots available to them. That does make sense. It was only she and Carl in the room.2 points

Did anyone catch the little gal Carl is buddys with slip of the tongue? She said WE. "There's too many blind spots. That's how we were able to...." Then Carl cuts her off. She's a mole. Tell your little girlfriend goodbye Carl. If your old man finds out, she's toast.2 points

I don't know why you would say a Phoenix is junk. I have owned 3 of them and none of them were junk. Each one was very accurate, never had a FTF and would shoot about any ammo out there. I have one right now and still shoot it often at the range with zero problems. The only issue I have with them are they do have more safeties than I like on a gun but that would be my only complaint....JMHO2 points

Back when I was fishing with my son in law we only used Seven Points launch ramp because it is well lit at night. Also when I would approach the dock to load at 1 or 2 AM I would do a scan of the entire parking area and woods around it before letting my Son In law out on the dock to get the trailer. In case I have not shown the front of my Skeeter on here I have a pair of Airliner Landing lights mounted on the front that will light up a football field and are really hard to actually look into directly so when I turn them on things do light up a lot. I also hand him one of my pistols I have in the boat to walk to the truck with and I keep the lights on with gun in hand to back him up. I worry about him fishing alone now with my eye sight but he now will take a friend along and he does same procedure and now has his own HCP and packs his own heat.2 points

Morgan and guns. Seems a big continuity problem here regarding Morgan and guns. Thought idea was he didn't have any truck with them, yet: - When Carol is leading him on chain as ruse to get to the armory, you can clearly see a handgun in holster on his right side. (which the passing Wolves who give her kudos didn't notice either) - Then after Carol shoots the tied up Wolf that tried to kill Gabriel, she hands a handgun to both Morgan and Gabriel, Morgan gives his to Gabriel, saying something or other to the effect he doesn't believe in using them. But we already know he has one on his hip, which also begs the question of why she even gave him one in the first place? You can also see the heater on his hip toward the end when he and Carol are doing the aftermath walk around. WTF? - OS2 points

No, you should ban them. If I understand what you are saying, they know they need to be a benefactor to sell something. So they place the item for sale and then later dispute the charge? Who wants to buy and sell guns with people like that; ban them and call it a day. I’m generally against banning people over BS; buts that’s just plain criminal. You could post who they are though for the entertainment value or in case they sell other places. A lot of us have been benefactors a long time and rarely sell anything.2 points

Ever drive around, see a field full of deer & think: "I wonder who I have to talk to to get permission to hunt that?" Well, here you go. It's a little awkward to navigate & you really have to be sure of the property you're looking for, but it lists the landowner of ever parcel of private property in the State. Anything that doesn't have a name (as best as I can tell) is TWRA, TVA or WMA. :D http://tnmap.tn.gov/mobile/assessment/#mapPage1 point

If something like that was actually proposed in Congress I really believe that would be the trigger but I also believe there may be a few, even on the democrat side that would realize that would be throwing the sh!t at the fan and I don't believe most want that. I'm still mad as hell even from the actual mention of it, I am mad just as much when I see some socialist college students burning the Stars And Stripes in protest. To me talk of disrespecting and violating the Constitution is just as Un-American as burning the flag. Hillary Clinton is an Un-American POS.1 point

The very first high powered rifle I shot as a kid was my Dad's Savage Model 99e in .308 Win. Of course even then, it was amazing to watch my Dad shoot it, and train my younger brother and I the correct and safe way to handle weapons. I loved shooting his Rem 870, his Super Blackhawk .44 mag, his Security Six .357, his multiple .22 lr rifles and the Stevens 20 gauge single shot that was our first "my own" gun. But there was always "something" about that Savage. At that point in my life, I didn't have a favorite type of rifle as in bolt action vs lever action so I know it didn't have anything to do with my affection for this particular 99. I think most of it was just because it was Dad's, but a lot was because I watched him re-checker it and change the stock from the darker color to the almost blonde color that it has been most of it's life. In my 20's I slipped into the work, chase girls, drink beer, and hanging with friends mode. So my hunting and shooting days were very few and far between, something I regret to this day. As I entered my 30's all of that faded away and hunting & shooting became part of my desires again. Dad and I talked guns and ammo talk more than we ever had, and I'd missed that. Somewhere along the way I'd started messing with him saying "Dad, you know that ole Savage is just gathering dust. You need me to take care of it for you? <insert laugh>". He'd always come back with one of a hundred responses ranging from "I think I'm gonna get it out and clean it" to "You know, I believe I'm gonna deer hunt with that this year" and the occasional "Oh, you'll get it one of these days". The latter being the one that worried me because I didn't want to get it the way most children get their parents weapons, in a will. But the jokes have continued all this time and even in texts: "Dad, just wanted to see if y'all were coming down this weekend .308" or I'd text him and say "I have break coming up, call me at 3:08" and always made for good laughs but to no avail haha. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and Dad began asking about my Rem 700 SPS Tactical .308 and talking about getting one. We talked stock and optic options as well as pricing variances. I began online shopping and sending him info on different ways he could go. He came in town this past Tuesday to visit with us while my brother and his family were in town from San Diego. He'd also picked up my new bow and brought it in with him so I met him at Bass Pro after work and we talked a lot and looked at some rifles while shooting the crap about life happenings. We left empty handed, which never happens with us, and we'd decided to go to local gun shops on Thursday and Friday for more shopping and hands on. He ended up buying the SPS Wednesday while I was at work, so shopping was done haha. He had them mount his base, rings, and his Leupold scope when he picked it up. I told him that we'd sight it in Saturday while we were having a family get together in Whites Creek. Saturday morning comes and I've packed up a couple AR's and my Rem 700, a ton of ammo and targets for a day of shooting that I've been waiting for a LONG time. One with my brother and Dad being there at the same time. With my brother being in S.D. it's rare to have the time and place availability for us to shoot together. I show up at my sister's place, start unloading everything before Dad gets there and he pulls in shortly after. I meet him at the back of his truck and we're looking at his new rifle, as he grins and tells me he can't wait to shoot it. He's a Marine so I know he's excited :usa: Everyone spreads away from the truck tailgate and Dad says "Hey, I gotta talk to you about something when everyone leaves". I'm thinking of what I could have done to hear those words after all these years of no ass whoopins lol. He slides another rifle case towards the tailgate and starts to open it while speaking "Look, I know you've loved this rifle since you were a kid. I'm sure I'm gonna be happy with this new one. I know you'll appreciate it for what it is, and I know you'll take good care of it. Put it in the truck and take care of it." This is the part where I just stare at the rifle, then stare at Dad in pure disbelief for what seemed like 30 minutes but was in reality probably 2 minutes. If I'd had to guess how I would have reacted I would probably think big smile, screaming with excitement, telling him thank you a hundred times and hugging him and saying I love you and I'll take good care of it. Well, that is NOT what happened, I couldn't say anything, probably mumbled something I'm not sure followed by a "Are you serious or teasing me again?" Well it was real, I didn't touch the gun, I hugged him and thanked him and told him I loved him and that I was glad that he handed it to me and that I didn't have to wait until he was unable to use it anymore to get it. My arms were covered in goosebumps the entire time, he even noticed it and said "Damn, are you okay?" I told him I wasn't sure. I packed it in the truck, still not believing that I was taking it home. Then we got out the SPS's and sighted his in. It was dead on accurate and he was needless to say very excited with it! My brother came down in the field and shot it as well which made it the perfect day! Anyway, sorry it's so long but if someone bought me a Barrett .50 cal tomorrow it would not be a more exciting Show & Tell thread for me. I can't wait to shoot it, try out some different ammo in it, and will definitely be taking it in the woods this year to deer hunt once gun season opens up!! Signed, Happy Ain't The Word1 point

To be fair, George Lucas said the same thing about books not being canon for future movies long before Disney was anywhere close to the franchise. As soon as the books started coming out, Lucas said he had authorized them, but wouldn't take them in to consideration if/when he made any more Star Wars movies. The books really do hem them in many ways. Pretty much every year in the lives of the main characters from the end of ROTJ onwards has been occupied by the books. That means any movie has to go the the end of the books and start from there. Chewie can't be in them because he's dead by that point, Han and Leia have to be married and have had 3 kids, Luke has to have restarted the Jedi order in a specific way, the public has to have general knowledge about the Jedi and the Sith, you have to deal with a Luke Skywalker character who is as powerful as Yoda or Palpatine, plus he's not the most powerful one around, etc. I can understand saying "screw that. That's not the story we want to tell." Then you also have the issues of references to the Clone Wars in the books not lining up with the 3 prequel movies. The Dreadnaught starships come to mind. The books make them out to have been all the rage and kind of the standard issue capitol ship during the Clone Wars, but they're nowhere to be found in the movies. Oops.1 point

The most reliable magazines for the 300 is Lancer. Magpul are the worst because they have side ribs as well as the front rib. They are probably the best for 5.56 but Pmags are the worst for 300 Blackout. I really wish a magazine maker would make a 300 Blackout magazine like AK magazines without any internal ribs. I loaded some LONG 300 Blackout rounds into a 5.56 AK magazine and they worker PERFECTLY. I have contacted all the magazine makers I know of and so far none have realized the potential for this. If I knew someone in the biz I would probably figure out a way to fund it.1 point

While mil-spec should make all mags equal, they are not; specially with 300Blk. The only way to make sure is to try it out and see. All I have are pmags, but that is because that is all I used in the military and all my aluminum mags were sold when their price went up.1 point

On top of that they will issue you $50 for your Wilson Combat 1911, mandatory. That would be theft, there's no other word for it. Not only theft of your property but theft of your Constitutional rights and whoever gives in, theft of their principals and dignity. They would be low life thieves, no different than the meth head who breaks into your home and steals your property. Actually they are lower IMO, at least the low life meth head is taking a risk and actually laboring to steal your property, they will just have their peon peasants do the dirty work for them. No offense on the peon peasant comment but that's how THEY view all of us. A mandatory federal gun buy back program is government theft. If you think it's impossible to "HATE" Hillary anymore than you did, she says treasonous Un-American crap like that. I WILL NOT COMPLY WITH A GUN BUY BACK LAW.1 point

This was explained in Fear the Walking Dead. For the first time they explained it very well. Everyone has the virus in their system once you die you turn. When you get bitten you get either a toxin or an infection that will turn septic and over time kills you activating the virus and turning you into a walker. Thanks Robert1 point

Hey guys. I wanted to say thanks again to Mike D. aka LawEnforcementSalesTN. A while back he offered a great flight simulator setup for fee in the Trading Post. I took him up on his generous offer and my now 15 year old daughter is 6 flight hours into her private pilot license! I just wanted to share this. I know I haven't been very active lately. I have been pretty busy and mostly too broke to shoot much lately. Here is one of the many reasons why. A pic of her very first lesson's preflight inspection: Thanks Mike! -southernasylum1 point

Ahh, brings back memories of the the good old days. Like before a wife and children. I could do anything anytime if I wanted to. I made a landing or two at Mike Romeo Charlie (MRC, 3 letter identifier Maury County Airport. I earned my certificate in 1988, Av Gas was under $2.00 / gal. and a Cessna 152 was $40.00/hr. and a Piper Cherokee was $52.00/hr., both were wet meaning including fuel. Somewhere around 1989 I bought a 1967 Cessna 172. I thought I was big time when I purchased a used Northstar Loran ( state of the art form of GPS that triangulated position by radio signals designed during WW II for Naval ships crossing the Atlantic). I married in 1992 and figured it was time to sell the Cessna. I made a decent profit in the short time I owned it. A quick search shows these are selling for $30 - $35k now. That's more than double what gave initially gave for mine. Back then there was a thing called a $100.00 hamburger, when you had nothing better to do so some fellow aviators picked a place that was within a non-stop for fuel flight, fly there go to lunch and return home only to have spent $100.00 or more. I guess these days it would be closer to $300.00 plus hamburger. Best wishes that she earns her certificate. She will have memories that will never fade and maybe inspire her to make a career out of it.1 point

For eight hundred fifty gazillionth time Carol showed what a completely well-rounded badass she has become. She's more crafty, ruthless, fearless, and wise than any 3 characters combined. (I'd have sworn she only set that timer for 15 minutes, because my wife, who can't boil toast...as she puts it, rolled her eyes at me when I said that ain't gonna be done in 15 minutes.) I have a couple of questions: 1. From Talking Dead: Who's got the best grasp on post-ZA life, Rick/Carol or Morgan? 2. My wife's question: How the heck did Morgan get back to town so fast, but Rick and them won't make it back til next week?1 point

I practically grew up on my Grandfathers Farm/Ranch in Cheatham County and we had whole hog Bar-B-Ques for family gatherings every summer 3 times. Beginning on Memorial Day and ending on Labor Day and my Grandfather was very particular about his wood. It was 70% Hickory and 30% oak and we would cook an entire hog for about 20 to 24 hours on an open pit using nothing except hot ash chips from a large fire burning about 20 feet from the hog. Family men tended the fire and shoveled hot coals under the hog all during cooking process. it did take about 24 hours to cook a 175 to 200 lbs hog that way but it was a wonderful experience and I got to hear some great stories from the elders of the family as they sat around the fire. My Grandmother made the Bar B Q sauce that was mopped on the hog about 10 or 12 times during cooking. I sure do miss those days of family gatherings. It seems as the elders of the family began dying off their traditions died off with them. My family has spread to the four winds and no longer gather except to bury someone and only then do many folks find out that the family is getting smaller...............I still have my memories and they do come to me when I also drive by a BBQ pit during cooking hours............Just an old mans memories is all................. Oh yea forgot to mention the quart fruit jar that was always being passed around while the stories were going on. I don't think any of them would have been complete without that fruit jar....... :rofl:1 point

The FSD shoot is to raise money for Toys for Tots. It's not a LE sanctioned or demonstration. I can assure everyone here none of these weapons are owned by any LE agency nor would they sponsor any such event... that, you can definitely thank the media for. We do hope to raise money for a good cause and let you folks shoot some guns you might not have had an opportunity to shoot before. None of us backing this are pocketing a cent from it. On top of that I'm sure it's going to cost us all several thousand in maintenance after the shoot. These things are not cheap to keep running and I'm not talking about the ammo. But come on JR, not you too ;o) .. et tu Brute ;o) ... As far as to why... I have to ask why not? We all remember the BOA robbery in LA with the full autos and the police were outgunned for over an hour? They were outgunned because of the touchy feely media pressure. You are correct though, the media has every department on their toes and under normal circumstances most of this weaponry would not be needed. Our SWAT only has a few select fire weapons but we ourselves have been in a few shootings recently where our deputies did not even have patrol rifles. Just by fate backup arrived who did and ended the firefight and we went home. I can tell you It's a daunting task to engage someone with a rifle, even a deer rifle and all you have is a G22. Is a 240B or SAW needed, 99.9% of the time heck no... I hope and pray they're never needed but at the same time I see nothing wrong with any agency being prepared. You don't normally need a sledgehammer to drive a thumbtack but if you show up and there's a railroad tie that needs hammering would be nice to have that sledgehammer. The same media that looks at that boat or any of our guns and says why would also be the one when 50 people are killed by some jacked up meth head with an arsenal at his disposal asking why we were not prepared for the worse. You can't win with these jerks and I for one don't waste an ounce of worry on what our leader thinks is too much... when he walks around without his secret service detail armed to the tee then he can throw stones at us. Our job is to protect the public and ALL of us go home... period... it's not supposed to be fair.. we don't start the fights but we are tasked with meeting force with force. We ARE responsible for every round that leaves any of our weapons and every officer knows that. Given this, media or not, I would never expect any LE agency, border or not, to roll up onto any public demonstration anywhere (not just TN) with a MRAP mounted with LMGs. Same token though, I'm sure the THP doesn't fire up the boat above when they want to check to be sure folks fishing licenses are up to date... these weapons have specific purposes and would be used in special circumstances. I'm sure Ferguson had much more firepower than they showed up with... but their officers riding up in MRAP with the crowd throwing rocks and god knows what, I don't see any harm in that at all. My media rant is why should those in charge of order be concerned with how they look when they're up against people who clearly have no issue with disobeying the laws.... The first level of force in any situation is officer presence... Hopefully that alone discourages most the rift raft... But even when THP boat is just being trailered down the interstate, it's serving a purpose in my mind...if nothing more it says don't start nothing, won't be nothing! I dig the bravos too! little jealous, would love to drop that sucker in at Watts Bar ;o)1 point
