A liberal friend (wait, I don’t have any liberal friends) acquaintance asked me after the Paris shooting what I thought he needed to defend his home. He has College Degrees I might add! I suggested as minimum: I advised a 9mm, a couple clips, and a box of shells. A few days later, he sent me this picture and asked how to make it work. any questions?????3 points

Warm salt water gargle and flush sinuses 2-3x daily. Mucinex (store brand), Ibuprofen, and Flonase. Green tea with a squirt of lemon and shot of bourbon (my version of a hot toddy). Rest. Patience to wait it out.3 points

Poor Steve. The guy probably can't show his face in public. People have taken their own life for less. I feel bad for him. At least he's still got Wheel of Jeopardy to fall back on.3 points

I got a leatherman wingman. I use a multitool at work quite a bit, and the fact that this one has spring loaded pliers makes it a winner. Thanks a bunch Santa! Will definitely put it to good use.2 points

Thanks very much for the concern folks as it is very much appreciated. I explained in earlier post how I feel about most doctors these days and I have contacted mine and she has told me what to do and is calling me in something that will take care of it. She said she has seen a rash of this in past week to 10 days and says there is no sense in me driving 70 miles one way for this when I have to see her in mid January anyway for my semi annual checkup. I got my Flu shot and Pneumonia shot back in October so should be good to go there.2 points

They do. But it's difficult to distinguish from the ambient funk that is NJ. Or, all the union operators were already timed out this week.2 points

#6 for the year and I'm done. Gonna try and get my boy on his first during the juvenile hunt or maybe before. Shot this doe with a 6.8SPCII. Stag Model 5 upper with a lower I built from PSA parts and Magpul furniture. Killed 3 does and a 9 point on the muzzleloader and a 7 point and this doe during rifle. Been a great season, I've seen more deer and passed more deer than I ever have.2 points

Why does a liberal need to defend their home? Aren't they educated enough to talk the bad guy out of any criminal intentions? :shrug:2 points

I can totally see Crossville. Had family there and spent a fair bit of time there in my youth. That place is, in a word, wicked. There's a chill in the air that has nothing to do with the mountain. Certain parts of the place just feels wrong, as if something evil sets it's will against you. Can't explain it much better without sounding like a bigger dork but it's true. The whole town feels like theres a secret outsiders are not, nor ever will be privy to. IT's in that town I first learned the true meaning of "the heeby jeebies"1 point

This reminded me, go to your nearest equipment rental place and rent a "dog fence trencher", yes seriously. It's a trencher that you pull instead of pushing and it lays the wire and buries it all at the same time. No "going back and burying wire", nothing like that. We did very near 3 acres of our property in just a little over 3 hours. I believe it was $50 to rent the machine for the weekend, very good investment.1 point

It’s been almost 12 hours. You would think in this day and age they would have the equipment to quickly detect airborne toxins.1 point

Not sure if my buddy was serious, but he told me that his parents dog used to lay down by the wire to use up the battery on the collar, then wonder the neighborhood when he knew that he wouldn't be shocked anymore. I guess you gotta make sure the dogs not too smart.1 point

prag... We used to shoot quite a bit of 308 thru a bolt gun, most all the reloads were military brass... As others have said, we've both hand reamed and swaged the primer pockets... I don't think it makes a big difference... What the swager (...we have a Dillon...) brings to the party is that it makes things easier on you... I never had any problems with brass done either way... We always sized, trimmed, and chamfered the cases, then we either reamed or swaged the primer pockets and cleaned them well... We used, just as you are doin, a hand priming tool to prime the brass, and loaded it on a single stage press... leroy1 point

Sometime in the early days of 2016(hopefully), Sam will be going thru my '82 era BHP from stem to stern. He's one of the few I'd send it to locally. Maybe the only one.1 point

Trucks are no longer just a working man's vehicle. Now they are a status symbol. If it has 4 doors and only a 4 foot bed, it's not a truck. It's an SUV without a trunk lid. If you can't put a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood in it, it's not a truck. If you are a Suburban Warrior with a LD complex, then a big expensive truck will compensate.1 point

The emotional attachment to an attacking dog is immaterial. Dog attacks, dog gets shot. True emotional attachment to a dog includes properly training and restraining it.1 point

That is why I have done all of my range time at 30 feet for last couple years. If I can take down my target at 30 feet anything closer would almost be a gemme. As far as going up against long guns, depending on the caliber of your carry weapon if your close enough to engage them you should be close enough to drop them as long as they are not wearing actual body armor. Evidently those two yesterday were not wearing body armor but just tactical clothing with extra magazines according to the police. As far as waiting for them to reload, if your in the same room with them you may not have that kind of time before you are forced to respond. You also have an advantage because they are expecting a complete soft target and not expecting in coming hot lead.............jmho1 point
