  2. So how many times have you been to your doctor, dentist, chiropractor, or eye doc's office's waiting room only to find nothing but old lady magazines strewed about? If you're real lucky, maybe a Sports Illustrated or Road & Track?   Why not guarantee some good reading during your wait and then paying it forward by leaving a copy or two of your favorite gun magazine? I've been doing this for years.   We all have that pile laying around the house that we can't stand the thought of tossing in the garbage, yet we've read them cover to cover several times. I keep a rolling stack of such magazines in my utility closet and when I head to a doc's office, take a couple with me to slide into the pile. It's pretty fun too if you're a people watcher like me. In will walk a guy that you just know shoots cold steel, and then confirm it when he beelines right for the gun mag you put between Better Home & Gardens and the Nashville Scene.   And it's always fun if you spot a liberal who suddenly gets that "shocked look of disdain!"     So share the wealth and shoot it forward.

  4. Used pistol Manufacture year was 2000 - picked this up today and it's my first Hi-Power. I really like the bluing and there is not a scratch or blemish to be found. It appears to have been shot very little so much so that internals look new as well. Came with just one mag and I ordered another today. I don't have a trigger gauge to tell me lbs, but this trigger is very smooth and crisp and feels the 5-6 lb range. I'll post a range report next week when I can get to the range. Cheers!

  5. So, I've gone ahead and staked some land on Gun District for TGO.   As of yet we have not been kicked off of Facebook, but if it happens I am likely going to just abandon Facebook entirely.   Anyway.... here's our Gun District page.   https://gundistrict.com/TNGunOwners

  6. No if you bought any M16, the MG trumps all laws no other stamp needed, If you use a rdias, all your host guns under 16" must be SBR..another draw back about a rdias, if you remove the sear to move it to another host, you technically need to remove the FCG as well or your in possession of a unregistered MG. Here's my son shooting a M16 with a 12.5" G5 Shrike with a 100rd side mount nutsack https://youtu.be/5VR-BvpQx78

  7. I want to thank all of the great TGO members for all their help and good wishes. MrsMonkey took this all on herself and it has been a challenge. Just one look at Cooper makes it all worth while. The little pups are fuzzy and cute and I feel will find much better homes this way, but Cooper and Glam are really special. To see these two that have never know anything other than the animal shelter is amazing. Cooper is more comfortable in his crate where he feels safe than any other dog I've seen. I think it's the first time in his life he can relax. At six months glam is seeing the world for the first time outside of the shelter. I'm really proud of my wife for doing this even after I woke up with a puppy on my face. :)

  12. We are blessed to have room in our home and a great place for puppies to run. Around this area the is a huge amount of animal neglect and I hope we can continue to take them in and help them find great homes. And yes she's a winner, she gets me puppies and guns! :)

  13. It's a sickness man. Pretty soon inch groups won't be small enough. Then you will want half inch groups. Then you will start reloading and weighing your cases and sorting them. Prepping brass. Trying different components and different recipies...... Stop now before it's too late.

  16.   Try not to over pack your carry-on.  Some music, a book (or tablet), taking a few Advil when you board since you'll be stuck in a pressurized cabin for a good bit always helps me. Don't expect a power outlet for your laptop, hell don't expect any room to take it out really.  Dress in layers for the flight, there are never any fixed standards on how warm or cold a flight is.      What airline are you flying?       Same for me.  Coming west from Kuwait, I could land in the US anytime of the day and be fine until it was a normal time to go to sleep.  Going east, it always took me a day or two to get adjusted again.

  19. This is really disheartening. I don’t use Facebook much, but the family posts stuff there so I use it. I have never been to any gun trading pages, I never got around to looking for them; guess it’s too late. I hate to see that these spoiled liberal rich kids can shut off what they don’t think is right. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t question their right to do it. Mark Zuckerberg built a company worth 245 billion dollars (more than Walmart) from his college dorm room; so I wouldn’t think he is stupid. So how can he think that banning gun owners from Facebook will help in any way shape or form? Facebook and Google won’t miss a beat with their anti-gun polices. The people that won’t use Facebook over their anti-gun policies probably didn’t use it anyway. Anyone that is serious about doing a search will still use Google. Google isn’t the only game in town, but they are so far ahead of the competition, the completion can’t see their taillights. They can shut us off, but if anyone suggested to them they ban the stoners and the druggies; that would never fly. Pitiful.

  20.     I didn’t mean to imply that someone trying to take your gun doesn’t justify the use of deadly force; it did when I was a cop and I believe it still does today. It satisfies the requirements of “immediate danger of death or great bodily harm”. I’m also not suggesting you surrender your weapon. I’m suggesting that a group of gang bangers could casually walk up to you in the mall and take your weapon. We have all seen the “knockout” videos. Most of those people never even moved their arms; too fast too furious. As a Police Officer I’m sure you have either been involved in or seen several Officers disarm someone that has a gun. Duck, tuck, cover and turn all you want; but if you are overpowered you are overpowered. I know that may be hard for some people to swallow; but its real life. It’s just something to think about and discuss.

  24.   Bear in mind that when Gaston & Co. designed the G-17 it was on the trailing edge of the initial combat pistol shooting sports of IPSC where a lot of the shooters had gone through the support hand forefinger on the front of the trigger guard thing. The H&K PS9 &P-7, both of which predate or nearly predate the Glock had similarly made front trigger guards as does the Beretta 92 and some others. Its kind of an indoctrination thing that's simply stuck with us. As much as I hate the Glock trigger guard I leave it alone, otherwise I'm forever more restricted to custom made holsters for that one particular gun.

  27.   Baby steps. This puts several pieces of robotics together. It visually collects patterns, analyzes them, determines the next appropriate action, performs that action, then repeats the process.   Someday we'll have things like surgical procedures that are perfect every time and are done faster than a human hand can move and by making fewer and smaller incisions, reducing risks and recovery time. Those kinds of advancements will be attributable to otherwise worthless projects like a machine that solves a kid's puzzle.

We are going to live in a perfect utopia because of guns not being able to be sold on facebook. There will be no more violence or thugs in places like Memphis killing each other and decent people.  (sarcasm)

  34.   Since this came from the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, it applies to any state in their jurisdiction.  That covers Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.    Maryland is the only worry spot on that list, but like you said, their laws were horrible.  So, just the precedent alone of what this ruling says, basically tying the protections from Heller to "assault weapons," (and including magazines) gives us a whole new ballgame if this case law spreads.

  35.   MD is a pretty horrible state for guns.   You wouldn't want to drive thru it with anything decent that would be legal in TN.   Not sure about the specific district but anything being done for guns in that state is a welcome change no matter what area!

  36. The unspoken problem with the prohibition against college carry isn't specific to being unarmed on campus, though there is the obvious danger there, it's having to be unarmed while going to and from campus where plenty of crime takes place.  A lot of students live close by and walk to class to save money, and because parking on campus just sucks.  It's not uncommon at all to hear about someone getting assaulted on the streets around a campus, and I don't know any woman who would walk alone after the sun sets, they all use the buddy system or small groups.    I tried to do some volunteer work with Students for Concealed Carry, but had to give it up because of my class and work schedule.  Their a no joke grassroots group trying to make a difference.

  37. I've been skimming the opinion, and so far have found some gems that are as close as poetic as we'll ever see from a court for gun rights.  Here are a few quotes that should make anti-gunners cry: In our view, “the right to possess firearms for protection implies a corresponding right” to possess component parts necessary to make the firearms operable. (This was in reference to the magazine restrictions) The State’s position flows from a hyper-technical, out-of-context parsing of the Supreme Court’s statement in Heller…The proper standard under Heller is whether the prohibited weapons and magazines are “typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes ”as a matter of history and tradition, id. at 625 (emphasis added), not whether the magazines are often actually employed in self-defense incidents. More importantly, it is the government’s burden to establish that a particular weapon or activity falls outside the scope of the Second Amendment right…Contrary to the district court’s conclusion, the fact that handguns, bolt-action and other manually-loaded long guns, and, as noted earlier, a few semi-automatic rifles are still available for self-defense does not mitigate this burden.     That would have been nice, but Maryland's laws were pretty bad, and this ruling did a lot to put them in their place.    While Maryland is the only egregious anti-gun state in the 4th Circuit, this ruling gives other courts a helluva lot of what is known as persuasive authority in legal terms for other courts to draw from.

  39. Answering your SBR question, no, you don't have to file a separate form for it.  Doesn't apply to the full autos. If you're going to get into the 20K range why not look at something like an M16 lower.  I think those are somewhere in that range now.  Plus you could change caliber and upper without issue.
