WWF fired its leaders after somebody dropped a dime on their spending habits. Apparently they were spending 40% of income on overhead. It will be good if that money can go where it was intended, rather than being used for expensive "conferences" at resorts.3 points

They actually have some of the lowest rates as far as what goes to those they are supposed to help. It started life with good intentions and then making money became their goal. I know it is a non profit but that just means their bank account is zero at the end of the year. Like a lot of non profits excess goes into paying salaries rather than into those they are helping. I do not support the WWP and will not. Plenty of other veteran organizations that actually give more. Look at all their legal fees from suing other organizations that are helping our veterans. You mention you help the wounded and they come after you. You have a black and white image of a soldier and they come after you. WWP has sued quite a few and I haven't really looked into it but I wonder home many of those they have sued had to close their doors over mounting legal fees.3 points

And we are full for this match. Looking forward to a great group and a lot of fun on the 24th. I'll send out squad emails closer to time. We will take wait list registration in case any drops, so get on if you want to shoot at an outstanding new facility. This is the first of many matches to come, so be on the lookout for posts.2 points

Marines: "The face of the Marine Corps, and the last thing the enemy will see!" A Marine Force Recon Sergeant as he prepares to grab his ruck and head back out into the Vietnamese jungle. Vietnam ; May, 1971. Navy: A Navy SEAL, carrying a Mk23 5.56mm Machine Gun (Stoner 63), moves through deep mud as he makes his way ashore from a boat, during a combat operation in South Vietnam in 1970. (U.S. Navy photograph by PHC A. Hill) Air Force: Seems that I remember Star Wars using the Snake Eye tail fins from those bombs. The purpose of the cool looking tail fins is to slow the bomb so that it won't impact the jet when it explodes. (Note: I'm hoping that is an Air Force jet) Army. 'Nuff Said2 points

Congrats. Don't believe for a moment this will be your only AR. They don't call it the black rifle disease for nothing. :) Dont believe that crap that AR's can be run "dry". Lube the appropriate areas as shown in the manual. You can never have too much ammo or Pmags. Configure the rifle like you intend to use it otherwise you'll end up installing a bunch of stuff you don't need and just make the rifle heavier. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk2 points

That's the thing. I've considered starting a thread titled, "I don't trust Facebook, so I'd like to turn TGO into one" and move a bunch of threads in there... We've got joke threads. We've got animal pictures to no end. Here's funny stuff kids say. A couple of recipe videos and we're there.2 points

Went to Vegas some years back and same thing. Big ole sign on the side of the building touting them as the best, open 24 hours 7 days a week yada yada. Right underneath was a sign saying closed for filming. The shows popularity is stupifying, but not as much so as the amount of people who believe there is any reality to reaity TV.2 points

Get some training. Seriously, if you have never shot an AR based firearm now is the perfect time for some instruction. This will keep you from developing any bad techniques or procedures. Besides, learning to Run-The-Gun is a real "blast." :cool:1 point

Here is my take on this as I am the main one who has been starting these threads. TGO absolutely rocks on topics related to firearms, knives, hunting, self defense, etc…. We also have threads on many other topics. The tone of those is tends to be dour and sober. I started putting these things up to bring out the sense of humor and wonder within the TGO community. This has worked well from my perspective. As we all know, folks can ‘like’ various posts. In the eleven days of this month, I’ve had 40 likes on posts unrelated to TGO’s core focus. People have laughed and have enjoyed. I guess these threads have fallen into two categories. One is primarily military focused history and the other is plain humor. I understand that some people don’t like them. I’m fine with stopping these posts and I’m also fine with having a sub thread so those that like them can see them.1 point

I do think that Rick's group was right to hit the Savors first. I don't think they were really being 'mercenaries' for Hilltop so much as they were doing something that needed doing, anyhow, and were doing it in such a was as to get something from Hilltop as a bonus. This wasn't an unknown group they were hitting. Daryl saw them when he was hiding out in the woods and got a sense of what they were like. Then he, Abraham and Sasha encountered a group of them and that group planned on killing at least one of the three, taking all of the stuff they had with them and forcing whoever they didn't kill to take them back to Alexandria. If it were me I would already have been trying to find out more about them. Then, suddenly, they have a chance to use the intel that the Hilltop folks give them for free and then get some supplies from Hilltop in exchange for doing something that they needed to do, anyhow. The strategy was solid. The tactics, however, sucked. First of all, they went into the whole thing without doing any scouting of the perimeter to see if just maybe this highly organized group of badass marauders might have the sense to have patrols outside the fence. Secondly, they hit the place without taking any time to observe, see how many were coming and going, try to figure out how many were in there or anything else based only on what one guy who had been inside on one occasion could remember about the place. Not exactly the brightest moves. Personally, I don't think Negan was ever there. Further, for those who are thinking, "The Saviors didn't seem like that big a deal," I think what we saw last Sunday night was just a small fraction of their forces stationed at a small outpost. I do not in any way believe that Rick et al. hit the main compound nor do I believe there was a significant number of the Savior's main force at that outpost. I also have a feeling that the guys who were at the outpost were probably, at least partially, the scrubs and not their most hardened or capable fighters - and still, even hitting them in their sleep, it took most of Rick's best fighters to deal with them and even that ended up being a big clusterf...well, you get it. The alarm was sounded, Rick's group had to fight their way out and - had it not been for automatic weapons and copious amounts of ammo - would probably have taken losses against a bunch of guys who had just been awakened and were running around in their underwear. Even then one of the Saviors almost got away on a motorcycle and Maggie and Carol got captured.1 point

Pretty sure the last one is from a diorama. Definitely not real. I can't wait to see what the VA has in store for me today. I get to get asked about why I feel the need to have guns, whether I was raped by my superiors while in service as well as why I prefer private care over VA care. Anytime you say anything even remotely outside their comfort zone they go on the offensive with threats. Maybe I will record today's visit for posterity. I wish I could just avoid the VA but the last time I tried to avoid them they said they would stop my VA benefits if I did not come in for my annual visits.1 point

To me, the presence of the gun and particularly his finger on the trigger removes all silliness and makes it pure intimidation. Your co-worker is lucky that 22 yr old doesn't understand the concept of assault, though its clear he doesn't understand the concept of statutory rape either.1 point

Let me guess, your heavy Varget load is somewhere in the 24.5-24.7 range. I had an AR that would routinely shoot 1/2" using that recipe and 69 SMKs. I was working up loads for a bolt gun and decided to try the same loads in it. It resulted in .3" groups at 100 yards and enough .2" groups to know they were not flukes. If you can find some SMP842 I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Using that powder my SD numbers were unbelievable so I replaced the batteries in my chronograph, thinking it was broke, and shot another group with the same SD. The SD was either 2 or 1.73, can't remember which one but either one is pretty amazing.1 point

I figured that out when I started shooting 3 gun. In 1999 we got 12 gauge for like a buck a box during dove season. Fast Forward to a few years ago and shot shells are as high as hangun ammo!1 point

The only time you run into primers that don't work is when you have a gun that is tuned for the lightest trigger pull possible.......and that 99 times outta 100 means Federal only primers.1 point

Not sure about the landscaping part, but I would hit up the Amish community for the garage. They'll have that thing built before you could empty a magazine from your draco.1 point

If he really was that dumb and lazy he couldn't hold a job anywhere. Of course there's been a lot of celebrities or athletes who get some fame, make some money then think they can do anything they want. I doubt if any of them are at that store except when they film the staged reality show. I don't know why they still call them reality shows, I guess about 10% is reality, the other is WWE wrestling.1 point

You stole my line. lol Yep, I've often wondered about him and how he retained a job. He couldn't be as dimwitted at the show portrays him. Then again...1 point

Every one will enjoy their fuel mileage more if they would remove the Ethanol from the fuel. It has been proven that 100% pure gas improved fuel mileage by 15 to 25% depending on the vehicle. That is why you have to stop and purchase fuel more often with Ethanol fuel......... :mad:1 point

My first police academy range instruction was in 1979, taught by an old guy who had to be in his 70's then. We worked only on J-frame S&W's. Range safety was not only paramount, if you f***ed up, you were out. Period. No second chances. You tended to pay attention. The ONLY way a weapon would EVER be transferred to another person was --- cylinder emptied;2nd & 3rd finger through the cylinder opening; grip first toward the recipient. Even today, by force of habit, I point it downwards, pop the magazine, empty the chamber, turn it around, and hand it grip-first with the slide locked open. Younger guys sort of look at me with a question in their eyes. Older guys just look, and sort of get this look on their face like, "man, you WERE taught right, weren't you ?????". God bless you, Okie Miles (RIP).1 point

That is why I like a kydex inside the waistband holster. You just unhook the clip and slide holster and all out and then when you want to put it back on, you slide it back in. The trigger guard is protected inside the kydex the entire time.1 point

I would guess reholstering after dinner. Dude probably left his weapon in the car and wore his holster in the restaurant. I'll never understand this practice. Concealed means concealed.....unable to detect....cannot be seen. When I carry concealed the only places I stay away from have wands and metal detectors. Unless I'm packin' my Glock 7 which is the ceramic model that can't be detected.1 point
