  1. I wasn't planning on picking up a new gun "BUT" Walther just came out with the new Walther PPQ Q5 Match Steel Frame. I sold my polymer PPQ and picked up the new steel frame. It has been a long time since I really got excited about a new gun but I really like this gun. It is a heavy gun at 2lbs 10oz with an empty magazine so it will be legal for SSP/ESP division in IDPA. My main purpose for the gun is to shoot Carry Optics division and the weight limit is 45oz with an optic. The optic I will use will be the C-more RTS2 6 MOA. The gun does come with three mounting plates, not for the C-more. Had to purchase one from C-more. The grip is a little bit more aggressive than the polymer gun and I am very happy with that. I hope to get out to the range soon and when I do I will do a range report.

  2. And Macron backed off on the increased fuel taxes that started this whole thing. I’m not going to pretend to understand whatever else they’re bitching about but maybe the people of France are tired of being serfs to the government.

  4. I laughed when I read the survey. Do you carry a gun in your car? If so, is it loaded? If so, is it locked? Do you wear a Fitbit... etc. I suggest a follow-up question. 5. If you don't carry in your car loaded and unlocked, does your Fitbit, Nike Sports Watch, or Apple Watch indicate that you can run faster than 1,000 feet per second?

  6. The democrats completely abandoned the 2nd amendment and most of the Constitution back in the 70's and 80's, so the NRA went with the party that mostly supported the Constitution, Being as we have only two major parties they really had little choice.

  7. Seeing someone willing to stand up and take to the streets is a good thing. For as much as we make fun of the French, they still have passions about how far their government is willing to push them on some issues, and I'm of a mind that think we need some more of that here, minus the anarchy. The yellow vest protesters are doing more than rage posting on social media, and that's to be applauded. Let's just hope the "national razor" as I've heard it called isn't needed.

  11. They ask if you keep guns in your car or truck. The survey results would make a great shopping list for someone looking to steal a gun.

  12. I do not work in law enforcement. You should not take "shot" out of the equation, because that is what happened. You also should not call it an accident. A trigger was pulled and a shot was fired. Not an accident.

  13. Rather than store mine away in a safe I bought a stand and have it on display in the living room. My wife may or may not be happy about this.....

  14. Sorry if anyone took this as cop bashing or about cops in any way. The story really has nothing to do with him being a cop. The only reason that is even relevant is that he was at work when this occurred. Imagine if this was a husband wife pair that were clearing their house after they heard a noise. Imagine how the conversation would be different. Nothing I said would change. Do y’all remember when Tex shot himself and we talked about that video. Well this is the Same thing.

  15. Just a suggestion, but you could fill it out using the name and address of someone you hate. Maybe a troublesome ex or jerk boss? Maybe a politician! Then answer the questions to make them look like they're one sick puppy. I'm sure they'll appreciate the $10 when it comes.

  19. Its weird how many of y'all have boating accidents. Have y'all considered not taking your guns with you? I can't lose my stuff in boating accidents because I don't boat but more importantly, because if I did lose it and didn't notify the ATF, I'd get in trouble.

  22. He had already cleared the house. Whoever they were looking for wasn't there and he knew that. When he went back into the living room there was no need for his gun to be drawn. But I'm not going to second guess all of that crap. The bottom line is that regardless of your job title, there are four rules of gun safety. If you don't follow them, NEGLIGENCE happens. Not accidents. There is no such thing as an accidental discharge, only negligent discharges. This can't even be chalked up to mechanical failure. Its negligence. Plain and simple.

  26. I missed that concept FC vehicle. Very neat but I agree with the comments, safety rules would make it impossible to go into production. I have owned a couple of forward control trucks Ford and Willys and I loved the feeling of sitting with my knees in front of the engine and being the first around a corner very good visibility, scary at first. Very maneuverable and compact. You knew you were going to be the first to arrive at any crash. If you put about 1000 pounds in the back it would practically climb a wall in low range. My FC 170 was around 15 feet long but had a 9 foot bed. The FC 150 was 3 feet shorter with a 6 foot bed. You actually had space in front of the engine in the cab. Was a pain to do any serious work on.

  29. Only two things in that catalog that I liked were the 225 (still wish I had bought a P6 when they were cheap) and the late 60's early 70's Ford truck. I just wish they had Lena Miculek pictured more throughout.

  30. I have reloaded a few aluminum cases. I have found it is not worth the effort, to many problems because the case does not have the ability to expand and contract under high pressure that brass does. Lots of the aluminum I reloaded split/separated the head on firing.

  31. The big players in this game...NRA, GOA, NAGR as far as I know on the national scene. State groups like ours( dang it, having a memory lapse. Can't come up with the name.) and a few others need support too. They can have an impact on the local level. Thanks to Jeb and my slow start in memory, the name is Tennessee Firearms Association. Not hard to think of, unless you are me.

  32. There is a company called Better Mag that makes a lower magazine well adapter that fits into the AR lower and converts it to use the S&W MP15-22 magazines that also works as a last round hold open.I have one for my dedicated CMMG upper and they work really well.A person just slides the adapter into the lower and install the upper assembly and away you go.

  37. I've been a member of the NRA for close to 40 years and will continue to be one until the day I die. They are the "big boys" on 2nd Amendment rights and likely always will be. However, I'm not at all happy with the current state of the NRA. They have become too tied up in the political game and they actually want to play it. The 2nd is NOT negotiable and never will be. Political games be damned, fight to win!

  41. If you didn't have any changes in dependent status? That seems way too high for a refund. Makes me wonder if your employer adjusted how much was withheld after tax reform was passed. I remember my first paycheck was a copy of 2017 from income tax withholding, but once the systems were updated with the new tax changes, I saw the surplus hitting my paychecks. My *all things money* spreadsheet shows I'll get refund of less than $100. After I tally up investment dividends and capital gains, I'll end up owing. That's the way I like it, not giving the government an interest free loan.

  43. Cleaned it up after the first shoot (25 rounds and say 10 Fail to Fire), I also cleaned up the feed ramp as I had one Fail to Feed the first shoot. The Fail to Feed was with the round's projectile's nose (just below center of point) wedged against the bottom of the feed ramp and the tail of the round still in the MAG. That Fail to Feed had nothing to do with the surface of the feed ramp, maybe the design of the bottom of the feed ramp and the slope of the round in the MAG. Very hard to clear that type Fail to Feed as the MAG would not come out and could not move the round except to pry it with a screwdriver (on my knife) or something else. Anyway, took the pistol out again Jan 2 (26 rounds). They they did at least all fire this time but had to pull trigger 2 or 3 times on say 10 rounds of the 26. I also, had a Fail to Feed on the first round from one clip (again nose against bottom of feed ramp and tail in MAG). I did collect most of the spent cases. I thought the ones that fired looked like light hits on the primer. The ones that required 2 or 3 strikes showed more damage to the primer (repeated strikes I guess). All hits were centered in the primer and looked like good clean round hits (not as deep as might expect). ANYWAY, it is on it's way back to TAURUS as of this AM (TAURUS sent a work number and a FREE Shipping Label for FEDEX). By The Way, can you believe FEDEX quoted $68 to ship it before I got the FREE Label. I was amazed TAURUS sent a shipping label because their web site spells out customer ships IN and they ship BACK. By the way, I had called Customer Service an waited a good while (last time I called got a connected to a person quickly). I kept waiting, but went on the web site to CHAT. The CHAT Rep came on quickly and I explained the situation. He sent work number on CHAT and E Mailed the Shipping Label. I WAS AMAZED. Be MORE AMAZED if they fix it. ???? I took a lot of good pictures of the gun's innards, and the MAGs to show the slope of rounds in the MAGs. Just can't post anything on this site as not up to using their procedures. SAD.
