  1. I am all for people doing whatever they feel ok with. I got vaccinated because I didn't really have strong opinion one way or the other. My buddy just texted me and a few buddies that he tested positive today. We all had dinner on Tuesday night, but he thinks he probably got it on a weekend trip to KY last weekend. He had the J&J. Basically said he just has a fever at this point. At the end of the day, if the vaccine keeps me from getting really, really sick, ok by me. I am 46, overweight, and have zero cares about the possible long term side affects. I am more likely to die from a heart attack than anything the vaccine can do to me. Everyone has to make their own choice. Don't want it, don't get it. I just don't want to hear the words 'it's a tragedy' when someone that isn't vaccinated dies from COVID. We all make choices and we all have to live with the consequences, but it won't be a tragedy.

  3. I wanted to build a Shughart M-14 because if you’re gonna have one, it might as well be one modeled off the one used by one of the baddest men to wield it. I started with this M-14 clone from Bula Defense. Mounted an ARMS-18 optics rail and an Aimpoint CompM. I then acquired a surplus M-14 fiberglass stock. The army boys sure do love their duct tape. Once I got it stripped down, it was time to paint! As it sits now, it’s in what I refer to as the “movie configuration” ad it’s similar to what was used in the Black Hawk Down film. The CompM will end up coming off and being used on a retro AR build using the original hi-rise optic mount (carry handle gang gang). As of now there are a couple of bits that are either on the way, or requiring a little detailed work to mount. (Waiting on rings for my Aimpoint 5000 and the AIM-1/D needs a tape switch fabricated for it.) Updates to follow as the build is adjusted/completed.

  4. If you are in the surrounding Knoxville area, I will be holding the Enhanced Handgun Carry class at Pellissippi State, Hardin Valley, Saturday, Nov 13. Starts 8 AM. Call 865-539-7167 for details. This is the permit that gives you the best protection and broadest carry privileges in TN plus the most state reciprocity.

  6. Update on Phil Valentine - looks like he's in increasingly poor shape. I hate this for his family - and hope he pulls through. Hearing that someone needs to be put on ECMO is heartbreaking:

  9. Just picked this up at my FFL about 2hrs ago. I ordered this about 3 months ago, right after I got my Staccato P DPO from the same shop that I've dealt with on another forum. I also ordered the Dawson DPO mount, and 3 extra mags. and a HOLSUN 508T Red Dot. It's going to be a little while before I can get it to shoot and break it in for my new carry gun, this Chemotherapy Treatments are making my hands numb and the skin peels of easy sometimes. God I'll be glad to put this behind me one day. Well here's the pics, I'll post a range report as soon as I can get healed up. Thanks.

  12. Just watched a news conference on the Church shooting, on Jan 3, in Texas. The pastor was killed and another wounded. The Sherriff said there were 2 members in attendance, carrying, and the suspect disarmed the pastor and shot him with his own gun. When asked by a reporter what he what advice he would give others, concerning church safety and security the Sherriff stated he didn't want to second guess anyone in this church shooting, but he said, "If your going to pack a gun you had better be ready to use it." Good advice, IMO. I will add, do it with as much determination as one can bring himself too. You are in a fight for your life when you present your weapon guys.

  14. The Wilson is an 870, a high dollar one, lol. There have been over 11 million 870’s made of all flavors. I’d find an old police trade-in or beater to make your own.

  15. Yes, an available Machine is the issue. I imagine they are trying to go to Vanderbilt but need open beds and availability. This is a truly bad sign. He can only be on EKMO for so long before they have to pull you off. Some can make it but some do not. I’ll be saying a prayer for Phil. Don’t wish this on anyone

  17. You are quite correct in your assessment. However, I keep myself abreast of where I cannot carry and I don't put myself in position of being searched legally. I have been carrying without a permit for over 30 years so that should tell you something. Years back, everyone in the Sherriff's office and half of the city police force knew I was armed. I've only been challenged twice, once and undercover "bump frisked" me in Kroger at 6:00 AM and the judge in my divorce/child support case told me I had to sell my firearms. The undercover just wanted to make sure I wasn't shoplifting I'm sure as he kept walking and never said a word. I called the judge's bluff and told her she didn't have that authority in open court. She didn't like it but she knew I was correct. If you mind your manners and know your rights you won't have a problem.

  22. Getting used to it will be straightforward. Trusting it will not. It’s already fogged up once when I went from the house to the garage on a muggy night. I put some of Chuck’s Cat Crap cleaner on it (and the DPP in the other pic), but haven’t had either one in any suddenly humid conditions yet.

  31. You are not the only one. It would appear there are two of us. You eat an elephant one bite at a time. I expect TFA sees this as a good way to raise funds as much as anything. I am, however, pleased with the TFA for getting this done. I would encourage any Tennessee gun enthusiast who isn’t a member to join.

  33. If you can't check your ego....then one should reconsider carrying a gun. Your explanation simply shows a pattern of escalation on both sides. Notwithstanding carrying a gun without one in the chamber. Bad technique at critical times. Another story however.

  39. I have myself for many years. I am not a criminal, not in the least. Not to throw shade on anyone who has a permit, I believe having one MYSELF would make me complicit, I don't wish to project this on anyone as it is my PERSONAL protest and I understand others who do have permits. My sister has her CCW and I am proud of her for taking that step. Below are why I do not have a CCW and I hope we get back to true constitutional carry soon, #1. Federal courts have ruled that you cannot attach a test or fee to any constitutionally guaranteed right. the current and all prior versions on CCW permits have done both, #2. Free men are not bound by unjust laws. the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed is perfectly clear. It is very true as we know that criminals by definition do not obey the law. Why should we be hamstrung in our effort to protect ourselves? The clown in chief says we need tanks and F16s to fight our own government if it comes to that. I say well,,,shall not be infringed and he don't know me vewy well do he?
