  1. I flew ( not pilot ), in Huey helicopters often during combat missions in 'Nam, back in the day. Always wanted to learn to fly when I got back to the world, but that didn't work out. Would love to have one, so out of curiosity, I looked online & found one. Located in Maui, Hi. Ready to fly, only $525,000. Obviously, a few bucks past my meek budget. Did make my mouth water tho. Checked back again later.......SOLD already. Oh, well. I love those old birds, save our bacon several times. Medivac brought me out after I was wounded. Maybe in another lifetime, LOL

  3. Greetings to all, I'm finally getting my shop set up so I became a TGO vendor and will be selling knives from time to time. Will be offering knife sharpening also. Still have to uncrate some equipment but the grinder and heat treating oven, as well as some other items are unpacked, so here goes. This is a small hunter 7 1/4" long with a 3 1/2" convex ground blade. Handle is Tennessee walnut. Steel is 1/8 thick12c27 sandvik stainless steel hardened to 58-59Rc. I do my own heat treating and this knife is cryogenically heat treated, this refines the grain and makes for a better edge. Comes with a leather sheath. Should be a handy knife for field dressing and other hunting chores. Asking $140. I'm located in Maryville. Thanks for looking.

  4. Not at all surprised. All the key board members are WLPs cronies and in just as deep as he is. I've been an annual member for almost 40 years. Every time I start thinking about a life membership, WLP does something else to piss me off. So I just keep taking it year by year. We need the NRA. They're the big kid on the block. But I'm not at all happy with the current leadership. The other day I got a letter begging for more money again. I wrote on it in big bold letters: "Until Wayne LaPierre and all his cronies are gone, you will not get one extra cent from me". Then I mailed it back to them. I doubt it'll do much good, but at least they know how I feel. I recently read somewhere in gun news (Guns America?) that the Charles Cotton, President of the NRA, is quietly negotiating with the courts to re-organize the NRA which would include dissolving the entire current board of directors including WLP. I can only hope this is true.

  5. Well 3 nights of hunting in 2 different areas are over. We ended up with 49 pigs in hand and several unrecoverable. A little over 2000 miles of driving. Not including driving around at 70 mph without the lights using only pvs 15s. It was actually a slow hunt, but it was fun.

  6. Here's you something to think about. Trump had great policies and if he could have controlled his Trump personality just a little bit better, he would still be president. I really believe if I were this woman's neighbor we could get along. I believe I could shoot on my property without pissing her off. The problem with people today is everyone is so defensive that they can not see the other person's side. It is always better to try and work with your neighbors than fight with them. I've had bad neighbors and I've had great neighbors. If you want a great neighbor, be a great neighbor. In the end it is worth the extra effort.

  7. The NRA called me for a donation just a couple evenings ago and I told them that no more money from me so long as WLP was running the show. Apparently the caller (I wonder if they're members or paid?) had heard it a few times before, as she just thanked me and hung up. I've been an NRA life member for a LONG time, and made regular donations up until a few years ago. I can hardly believe that WLP was reelected and find it disgusting.

  9. Thanks, that’s my thoughts also. I’m just now digging deeper into research about it. I do know someone that developed blood clots soon after getting it, so I have been taking a slow approach to it. I just don’t like being forced to get it or lose my good job It should be my choice. However, I feel the biden admin will continue to mandate it in other areas of life besides my job

  10. Ah the memories! When I was stationed on Hood with 1st Cav I rented a second floor apartment that was in the flight path of choppers ferrying in and out from a foreign places. couldn't keep ANYTHING on a wall or shelf LOL. When the Apache came out I had one scare the crap out of ne as I drove the edge of a tree line. He came in at treetop level from my right oblique and I never heard him coming. Love the Hueys, once you hear one you know it forever.

  13. I chose the J&J because it wasn’t mRNA. As it was built on the same tech as the other vaccines I’ve been getting for decades, I felt reasonably safe with it. At least a lower risk than getting covid.

  14. A few years ago I had a 35 acre farm that I used for a shooting range on occasion. First thing I did was go knock on the door of the elderly widow who lived next door. I explained to her that I would be shooting at times and that I would call her before hand to make sure she did not have anything going on that my noise might interrupt. I also assured her I would have a proper backstop and would never be shooting in the direction of her house. We got along great. I had no legal requirement to clear it with her but a little courtesy goes a long way towards having good neighbors.

  15. Thank you for all the input. Sunday morning her husband came over with no shirt on I informed him I was just trying to sight a rifle in the day before he seemed very understanding. And around noon I proceeded to finishing sighting in the rifle fired a total of six shots over two days. She called the law shortly after and said I was setting explosives off. The deputy came informed they had reports of things blowing up and I took him around the property to show there was no explosions. He looked at my target and berm and told me I was 100% legal and was acting in a safe manner.

  22. When at Hood I was in an Air Defense Unit. Chaparral missiles. On FTXs it was quite normal for various aircraft to pretend to attack us while we pretended to shoot them down. Of course, I was just a mechanic, so I had no real part in the fun and games. While the missile crews were busy, the rest of us just had to deal with the noise. What was interesting was when the Air Force came to play. Fighter jets on strafing runs scare the chit outta ya!

  24. As a young troop in 2nd Armored at Ft. Hood in 1972-74, we shared the post with the 1st Air Cavalry. Helicopters constantly in the air. When we'd go play in the field, they'd come visiting just to harass us. Especially at night when we were trying to get some sleep. At tree top level with those big searchlights. But they were just doing their thing like we were doing ours. We learned how to deal with them. Take a spent blank cartridge case and shove it into the flash hider of your rifle. Use a live blank to launch it. Bounce a few of those off the main rotor and the pilots would find somebody else to go annoy. I once saw the entire 1st Cav in the air and passing over at one time. Helicopters in all shapes and sizes, the sky was full of 'em! Must of taken a full half hour or more for all of them to pass over us. Made a lasting impression on this young soldier.

  25. Yes there is a considerable size difference between the 20 and the 29. I feel I can conceal the 29 if I want to but with the 20 that was nearly impossible. Of course the 20 is a little more pleasant to shoot but I don't think the 29 is hard to handle or too small. The 29 is one of my absolute favorite Glocks. That and the 19 are the two Glocks I will not sell. I'd encourage you to grab one you will not be disappointed

  26. I can certainly relate to your situation, Wingshooter. I too, have a farm and I own a G 20 as I like the 10mm round as well. The G 20 works just fine for riding my horse and most things, but it is cumbersome on the tractor and in my truck as well. I don't have a G29 but when I look at the specs I am not sure if you would gain very much in the way of size reduction. While the G 29 is about 1.25" shorter, it is actually a tad bit wider (1.38" vs 1.34" for the G 20). For me, the issue was the width. What I did was to go with the Springfield Armory XDs in a .45 caliber. While not quite the power of a 10mm, it is still no slouch and I was able to get the width down to slightly under one inch. It made a noticeable difference and I really like the sidearm. I have over 1,500 rounds through it and it is very reliable. Good luck.

  27. I had "naked neighbor" at my last place, and he was at least part of the reason I sold out and moved to TN. This guy is a retired Navy Captain, and seemed like a pretty good guy when he moved in. Pretty soon the neighborhood women started to see him outside wearing nothing but a loin cloth with his 70 yo skinny ass hanging out the back. I had ten acres, he had two and a half, and if he wanted to run around naked he had plenty of space to do that out of sight of the road. One day my wife came home complaining that naked neighbor was at it again, so I took my camera to our property line and took several pictures of him fondling himself, and told him that next time he had one of his frequent parties I was going to distribute them to his guests. That was the last time I saw him in his loin cloth. He also had a dog that he refused to control. That dog killed another neighbor's cat after chasing it inside her house. One day the dog chased my cat up onto my deck. The cat went up one more level where the dog couldn't follow and I came within an inch of killing the dog. But it really wasn't the dog's fault, so I grabbed it by the collar and was hauling it up my driveway with a 357 in the other hand. NN was waiting at the top of my driveway, having already been threatened with a beating if he ever set foot on my property. I told him the story and that the dog almost died five minutes previously, and son-of-a-gun, the dog didn't show up on my property ever again. I had good-to-great relationships with everyone else in that neighborhood, but this guy really was the naked neighbor from hell.

  30. We moved into ours 32 years ago, we bought a "Family Home" that was in the same family for over 100 years. Little did we know what we had done. The brothers that had the place split it up, we got the house and 5 acres. The brother that owned our place has been gone since before we bought the place, it sold out of spite between the wife of our place and the brother of other place. A fence was tried to be put on our side of the line, we fixed that. LEO called on us for theft, we were proven as to not have done it. LEO called for us shooting, LEO came, saw what and where we were shooting and was told every thing is OK. To this day the grand son still accuses us of not being the rightful owners, as the wife of the brother that owned the place had no claim to the property. This as been going on for 32 years, we are still here and land value is going up every year. One day someone will offer us money we can not refuse as I will not put my place on the market. The grand son has offered to buy the place, but just cant get his money right.

  34. I have stopped donating too. But, we don't need to be wishing for their demise. Chasing Wayne off is a whole lot different than Latisha using the State of New York to destroy the NRA. Piss on that woman, and all her friends. She doesn't hate Wayne. She hates ME.

  37. Just your daily reminder to consult a physician that you trust and to decide which course of action is best for you to take. Ignore the media, ignore the Internet. Talk to the person with an MD that you trust to keep you healthy and well in all other matters of medicine, and show them the same level of trust with this that you'd show them with any other medical matter. Why? Because y'all are my people, dammit, and I want you here tomorrow. And like you I think this thing has become so politicized that even if walks and quacks like a duck, you've got reason to be skeptical that it's not really a Koala. So go find your expert in ducks and Koalas and trust them. PS: No scotch or whiskey was harmed in the creation of this post... but I'mma 'bout to fix that.

  38. Read this today, let the bashing begin. Now how is the "mandate" gona work. https://www.foxnews.com/media/ron-johnson-no-fda-approved-covid-vaccine SEN. RON JOHNSON: We do not have an FDA-approved vaccine being administered in the U.S. The FDA played a bait and switch. They approved the Comirnaty version of Pfizer drugs. It’s not available in the U.S. They even admit it. I sent them a letter three days later going "What are you doing?" What they did is they extended the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer drug vaccine that’s available in the U.S., here that’s more than 30 days later, they haven’t asked that very simple question. If you’re saying that the Pfizer drug is the same as the Comirnaty, why didn’t you provide FDA approval on that? So, there’s not an FDA-approved drug and, of course, they announced it so they could push through these mandates so that people actually think, "Oh, OK now these things are FDA approved." They are not and again, maybe they should be, but the FDA isn’t telling me why.

  40. Congratulations! Retirement is great. Prior to retirement I had a lot of negative people who are programmed to be permanent worker bees asking what I would do with all of the free time. Throw away your clock . I travel, I have my guns, my wife and her one hundred miles per hour social circle, my side by side that I tinker on almost every day and I’m finally getting around to building a respectable work space for my all of my tools in my garage. Some days I stay in the garage for hours. Other days I drink beer or scotch and watch westerns and sports. I find it hard to believe working was ever important to me. I don’t miss it at all. Don’t let others dictate what you do with your time. Enjoy!

  42. My oldest turned 18 today. We adopted 3 several years back. They are now 9, 10, and 11. The three young ones are all considered special needs. One is 100% dependent on us and meds. The youngest is probably around 60% normal. The 11 year old is 85% normal. My Wife and I have been out together alone 5 times in the last 8 years. Trust me brother....your doing well. Make dates with your Wife. Hug her every day. Make that time. It's okay if you want to leave the kid with someone every once and a while so you can go out. Make sure your kids know you love their mother. That's important.
