Congrats on making some progress through the mess.  We cannot choose where we start in life, but it sounds like you're doing an admirable job of making a good life for your family.

Let us know if we can help.  Seems like there's someone on here who's connected just about anywhere.

That made me seriously laugh. What ever happened to that cat, didn't he come back and say that he had gotten another pizza job?

I don't know. In the 22 pages of that thread, no new job was ever mentioned.

For those that missed it, it's one of the best delivering threads in TGO history. Easily in my personal favorite Top 10. The Jamie v. Strel subthread is fantastic in its own right.

ETA: For the record, it was a light-up car topper that was thrown, not a training manual. Who here thinks that's even better?  I do!

............................................................................................Until this week, I had never been fired, never been formally reprimanded, never had any major failings. I am sure that is to be expected.

Yes it is to be expected. One "Awcrap" trumps a thousand "Attaboys" and no good deed goes unpunished. .Back in the day we had a four foot high cartoon hanging on the office wall that depicted a man in our outfit standing there with a massive wood screw turning into his belly button. The caption said: "Be loyal and devoted and you will receive your just reward." The guy who drew that one really knew what he was talking about. :pleased:

That’s really sad; best of luck to you in finding a new job. I don’t understand how any company (no matter how big they are) would voluntarily take a hit like that over something so silly. To me, that shows that the highest people in the company have lost focus. Provided they know of course.

Luckily I work for a company that doesn’t hate guns or gun owners. We had an occasion where something serious went down and the owner of the company asked me “You have a gun don’t you?” I replied “Yes, in my car.” He said “Please get it.”

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am the Dispatch Manager and Software Integration Specialist for Dauenhauer Plumbing. The largest privately owned plumbing company in the state of Kentucky.

I accepted the position this morning. It is a raise, and a promotion from where I was. It is a more relaxed atmosphere and I will be instrumental in big changes at the company. I will be helping select the new software and phone system, participating in the construction and layout of a new building for my department and then training my department in the best way to do the job. After that I will be on the continuous lookout for new software and technological advances to keep my company on the cutting edge of the plumbing industry as technology leaders.

The statement was "We knew where we needed to be, we had no idea how to get there, then you walked in the door as the solution to everything we needed.

Dude I think you skipped the making lemonade out of lemons step and went straight to wine. Congrats!

The truth is that I hate that it happened. But it really did work out for the best. My former boss told me as I was walking out that it would be okay, he knew I would land on my feet. I personally like the guy and I have talked to him daily since this went down. He had nothing to do with my being fired. It was hard to see it at the time, I mean there were so many emotions going through my mind at the time. I didn't know which way was up or down. But I suppose he was right.

I knew that 10 years of experience in such a specialized field was a boon, I just didn't realize that we are so rare. One of the companies I interviewed for said they had been searching for five months and hadn't found a candidate with half my qualifications. The problem is that the term 'dispatcher' is used colloquially for a CSR at many maintenance companies, thus it is an entry level position. But a Dispatcher Planner is something much, much more. Many of the calls I got were just that, "Hey, we have this position, you will be answering the phone, it pays $9-12 an hour..." The rest were "Oh, you are an honest to goodness professional dispatcher for a national fleet!"

The fact that this company is family owned, been in business for 40 years, and is looking for ways to stay at the top of the food chain is what got me. I don't know if I can do the corporate grind again. Being interviewed by the owner, and his son and then being told that I would be working hand in hand with them to find their new software was a nice touch. I am not a job jumper, and I am loyal to a fault. I told them. "I have a cat that showed up at my door step ten years ago, she knew the second she saw it that inside, was her forever home. That is what I thought I had, that is what I am looking for."

The future is bright, and damn, I feel pretty fine about myself right now.

All you need to do now,is stop by your old place of employment and take a leak on their sign.

but not the junction box.

Of course, If I were a d*** employer, there might be a electric fence charger nearby.

That's awesome news! Having been canned before several years back, I can relate to the stress it dumps on you. Glad you're in a better gig all the way around.

Oh, and not all HR people are evil. Been one for 25+ myself. Admittedly there are a lot of idiots in the profession, but some of us are pretty normal.

Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.

After ten years with the company It is disappointing it went down like this.

It was after that that heads started rolling. At the end of the day anyone that had bought or sold anything 'prohibited' at work lost their job. I head a rumor that one guy is gone over a pocket knife. But that is just a rumor. A large portion of the management team is out of work this afternoon.

With the recent climate and attitude towards gun owners, I am certain this is the new normal.

Did you actual transfer the weapon on property, Agree and transfer the money on property then exchanged off, or did you two just talk about it and meet else where to exchange the weapon and agree (confirm) on a price?

The first option you can easily be fired.  The seconds is grey and depends on how things are worded.  The third option is none of the company's damn business.

Thanks

Robert
