  1. I lucked up on a US Property 40XB about a month and a half ago and headed to the range that weekend. Well, I am a single dad since we lost my wife a few years back to Cancer (not looking for any comments, just explaining the single dad comment) so she always goes to the range with me. I demonstrated that due to the weight the gun had no recoil whatsoever, she decided she wanted to try it ( I was like, yes, finally after 4 years of going to the range with me she is interested). It was love at first shot! She would not even let me shoot she was just so happy seeing the hits one the target. Well, like a good dad I started to look for another 40x. I found one and after some careful thought (yeah right) I snatched it up. I also went ahead and grabbed a Leupold target scope for hers.    To make a long story short, she is smoking me out there at the range now!  I am having her shoot from a sled as the rifle is very heavy and I am trying to think of a way to get a bipod mounted on hers.    Well today we hit the range (spring break). We had bought a spinner for her to shoot and so we set it up at about 25 yards for her. As usual she is hitting dead center shot after shot. I had to get in on some of the spinner action and encouraged her to move it out some. We moved it to about 35 and she again spun in with no issues. I said, lets move it to 50, she agreed..( she was hesitant because the last time we shot I dominated at the 50 yard mark while she beat me at 100...) We continued to shoot, spinning that little target. Well needless to say, I got bored and said, hey Rach, watch this.  They have a 3 foot steel silhouette at 200yards. I held the head right at the bottom of the inside circle of my sight (front is an Olympic sight) and it was a hit. I of course was thrilled but then she said ok, I am gonna try. I told her where to hold and she nailed it first shot. So we shot at the 200y steel for a bit until I said, I am going to try for 300y. Well I held my target (2 foot square steel plate) at the bottom circle of my sight and " ding" hit. I then told her where to hold after I confirmed my hits and "ding" she hits first shot. I tell ya, that is the best purchase I think I have made in a while!!!    Sorry for the long story, hope it makes sense, just had to share as I am a very proud father!

  2. Out of touch and out of control?  Seems an odd statement considering this bill would return Senator selction to the very method our founders intended.  I see nothing wrong with moving back toward the way our republic was set-up to operate.   And before anybody tells me that the people will do a better job of selecting Senators than the state legislature one only has to look at what we have (Corker and Alexander) to know just how baseless that argument would be.   Many here claim they want the power returned to the states that the federal government has stolen - this is a step in that direction.

  3. Well, after a month of back and forth with the appraiser and underwriters, we've finally got the paperwork on the way and closing on our first house in 2 days. Great deal on it, 3 bedrooms, an office, extra room that could be an bedroom and a pretty large block storage/safe room. Place was immaculate, owned by an engineer and built by them about 15 years ago - it was one of those places you can tell they went out of their way to take care of. Heck, even after the contract was signed they still invested more money into it to pretty it up some more. Best part of all, in back we have a horse farm, in front we have a cattle farm and there's only about 4 houses in the vicinity. Unfortunately one of the owners was developing MS and they were building a new 1 story house so she could get around in a wheelchair easier. We exchanged stories, and they seemed more interested to know the house would be taken good care of than who moved into it. Anyways, here she is:

  4. Good for them, I say!  Like I did with MagPul a while back,  I figured I'd send them an invite:   Mr. Maust, If your company hasn't chosen a site to restart operations yet, I hope you take a look at the great state of Tennesse.  We have several regional metro areas which can meet your needs, all of which feature a 0% state income tax, which will aid in attracting talented individuals to your business.  Here in Nashville, where I also work for a manufacturing company, we have no shortage of high-school educated men and women capable of running a production line, and also offer many experienced and degreed persons who can capably direct the operation of those lines, and also provide support to those lines in terms of quality control and continuous improvement efforts.   The Nashville region is an ideal location for a medium-sized manufacturing operation in that housing prices are generally lower than CO when purchasing a similar home, several of the local school districts are excellent, and there is a wide variety of living styles, from rural to urban high-rise, which are easily accessible.  In addition to the excellent housing and education options for your employees, transportation infrastructure is also excellent.  The city is the meeting point of 3 interstates - I-24 runs through Ft. Campbell and towards St. Louis, I-65 runs from Mobile, AL all the way to Chicago, and I-40 runs from Los Angeles all the way to the east coast.  Freight distribution to all areas of the country is quite easy from Nashville for these reasons, along with the option of flying freight out of either Nashville International or Memphis (via FedEx HQ).   Quality of life being important to your team, Nashville can't be beat.  You can pop off some rounds in the middle of nowhere and be down on Broadway 30 minutes later, listening to great live music any night of the week while enjoying the beverages of your choice, the excellent local food, and catch a Predators or Titans game while you're at it.     The last thing I'd mention in favor of our state is the political climate.  TN residents are overwhelmingly pro-gun both in ownership and attitude, and would certainly support any local manufacturer who set up shop in our great state.  The TN legislature is not as pro-gun as the citizenry, but that is changing after last year's primary of a "safe" republican who killed a "right to carry to work" (not AT work, leave the gun in the car) in committee.  The NRA primaried her as an example, and made their point.  That lady is no longer in government at the state level.  The NRA and state organizations such as the TFA (Tennessee Firearms Association) are actively working not only to prevent NY-style laws from passing, but to actively expand the rights of law-abiding gun owners statewide.   I'll even make you a personal promise - if Hi-Viz sets up shop in TN, the day after that happens, I will swap out a set of TFOs for Hi-Viz sights on my XD(m) 9mm.  You would find yourselves appreciated as members of a vibrant and growing state that still believes in small government and indvidual liberty, and I believe you'd make natural partners.  Also, there's the guaranteed sale of a front and rear sight set - that's money in the bank on day 2!   As far as cons go, we do not have the rugged beauty of an Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, etc.  The state is still quite beautiful - it's more that our mountains aren't as large, and there's no antelope or sheep on them.  On the plus side, the fishing is good all over, and it never ever ever hits -20F in the wintertime.   Hope to see you here someday, Patrick   Should you decide to head this way, let me know.  I'll check the job postings and see if I can make myself useful.

  7. I can't really bring myself to care about this. The last thing we need right now is more friendly fire. Can we all just rally behind the man until we're at least out of the woods?

  13. Yep, told me the same thing. Said some get pissed off if there is no ammo on that shipment. If they are reselling it and don't use it, then I'm glad they wasted that hour.

  15. Here is another thread that can be very funny. Do just as the title says. Keep it short, 1 sentence. Keep it clean. Since there is no one above me on this I'll post my last lie on the other forum I saw this on. This thread will keep you in stiches!!   On Halloween he dresses as Jumpin Jack Flasher and goes out on the town!

  22. In all seriousness yall need to spend a bit on getting into reloading and casting. It is a bit of a up front cost, but I have saved a LOT after I started just a few months ago. I dont have to drive anywhere to try and buy ammo, and a lot less stress over trying to find the stuff.

  23. I think so many people don't understand how our government was initially set up.  Senators were never intended to represent the people, that was the function of the House of Representatives.  Senators represented state issues.  I would be all for repealing the 17th.  There is just too many special interests and outside influence at work with the way it is now.  More than likely, bills such as Obamacare would have never made it through the Senate if things were back to the way they should be.

I'm not trying to cross the country, only 3 ridgelines that I've hunted, camped and hiked my whole life. Also I don't have kids to worry about

  28. TAKE ACTION! INSIST Senator Lamar Alexander OPPOSE the motion to proceed on S. 649 (Harry Reid’s gun control bill), SUPPORT the Paul, Cruz and Lee filibuster, and, OPPOSE gun control at every opportunity. Call 202-224-4944   Called the Senator's office and spoke to a staffer. He said they had been getting a lot of calls. Also stressed that Lamar better start representing the wishes of the peole of TN or he will not be relected.

  32. I dont remember the 08 panic being this bad.. Im not sure hoarding is the issue. I feel it's been an opportunity for some to make money at others expense.  As long as people are willing to spend 75.00 for a 20.00 box of 22 lr then it will continue to happen. People are standing in line at retailers as they unload the trucks to make money not because they want a closet full of ammo..

  35. The treaty will not pass the Senate, at least not yet.  I imagine the Democrats are going to just hold onto it until the day they have enough votes in the Senate to pass it.    My hope is that this all out assault by the Democrats on the Second Amendment will result in them losing the Senate in 2014.  Then we can stop them dead in their tracks.  If Obama's policies have not totally destroyed our economy by 2016, then we can hopefully get the White House and many of the the currently liberal state governments back too (Colorado comes to mind).  Then we can start reversing every liberal gun control law that has been passed in the past 8+ years.     Yeah yeah, I know.  2016 is a long way off........but I have a dream.  I want the liberals to be so defeated that even their self esteem is crushed to the core.

  37. Cabelas is the best bet. They seem to be getting some in every week or so. Have to check early in the AM doesn't last long. I got a brick (525) of Remington golden bullets for 28.00 shipped. Gave it to my buddy today so he could take his kids shooting. Hated to let it go but, I DID IT FOR THE CHILDREN. (why does that phrase sound familiar)
