A little early since I'll be out and about spreading the good word and won't be able to post for a bit. Enjoy the 4th and remember those before us.4 points

I've had three head injuries in my life. One required emergency treatment. One left me with headaches and dizziness for weeks. The other left me briefly unconscious. Not one of these three caused injuries as visible as those on Zimmerman's head. Only one of these even bled. This medical "expert" is a friend of the DA, lives in Jacksonville like the DA, and never saw Zimmerman's injury in anything other than pictures. Her testimony smacks of shopping around to get the answer the DA wanted. Regardless, there is NO requirement that Zimmerman suffer a life-threatening injury in order to justifiably claim that he used deadly force be cause he reasonably believed it to be necessary to PREVENT great bodily harm. Florida law does not requite that there be an injury. It requires only a reasonable belief that such an injury MIGHT occur without the application of deadly force.4 points

I might just buy myself a Senate seat. The initial investment would be greatly rewarded and if the S does HTF you'd not only have the full force of the US military (or some semblance of it) behind you, including Air Force to get you where you need to go, not to mention all the other perks available only to the ruling class like fully stocked bunkers.3 points

The problem most folks here have with the call for "open mindedness" on this issue is that to believe that the present gubmt is somehow following the law requires you to deny what your eyes, ears, and intellect is telling you. It also requires you to have a child-like belief in the alturism of government and the uprightness of its bureaucratic corps and elected officials; not to mention the fact that you have to discount and ignore the mountain of data and reports of mis-deeds as somehow the musings of mad men. I simply do not believe that anyone with a smattering of genuine concern for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights can believe that what is going on with the PRISM program is constitutional or lawful. leroy3 points

Kinda like what happened today?: "Dr. Valerie Rao, who was called by the prosecution to provide her assessment of Zimmerman's injuries based on photos, cast doubt on Zimmerman's claim his head was repeatedly bashed against the pavement as he fought with Martin in the Feb. 26, 2012 incident. "The injuries are so minor that the word slam implies great force," Rao said in response to questioning by prosecutor John Guy. "There was not great force used here." Rao said Zimmerman's injuries were not only "not life threatening" but were also "very insignificant." She said the injuries to the back of Zimmerman's head were consistent with hitting the ground but the injuries on his face were from consistent with one punch or strike." Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/07/02/detective-returns-to-stand-in-zimmerman-trial/?test=latestnews#ixzz2Xvimhlds I read this and can't help but think...very easy to say for the person that didn't get their head beat on concrete. I'm sorry, but getting my head banged ONCE on the concrete without me being able to escape from someone on top of me and I'll be in reasonable fear of my life. Getting punched is one thing, getting your head bounced off concrete is another3 points

It is only a sign not an actual roadblock. There is no restriction having the sign like conducting an actual roadblock. You get pulled over for committing a traffic offense not because you turn after seeing the sign. All the sign does is raise an officer's suspicion but not enough alone to conduct a stop. There is nothing wrong with it and there is no way a sign violates any rights.2 points

No, I don't think they care, nor are they even aware that I canceled it as I did not make a big deal out of it. It's very interesting that so many people want to point out that me canceling my account doesn't make any difference. It makes a difference to ME.2 points

A few comments and observations on the New Finger in the Trigger Guard DQ. While it is important safety rule news shooters will be the most DQed. I intentionally watch fast shooters to see what they are doing differently so hopefully I can pick up a few pointers. I see a lot of the time the more experienced and the faster the shooter is, the less SO is watching for the finger. To the point that they don’t even notice if someone leaves finger in the guard between transitions. This is especially relevant when the SO doesn’t even keep up with shooter through the course of fire or is the entire time looking at their backside. I am left hand shooter and use my fore finger to eject the magazine. I have been called a couple of time on my finger just because the SO couldn't see it compared to right handed shooter. I believe this is mostly do to it’s on the other side of the firearm. If it’s not in the guard it’s not on the trigger.... Left handed shooters also make some SO’s nervous because they are not accustom to seeing the pistol on the other side and many times stand on the wrong side of the shooter. It’s going to very unfortunate if I get a finger call based on where the SO is standing or assumes. The more I progress the more I am finding out the faster you can shoot on a local level the less they notice things like this where your fingers are and your position of cover. I also suppose I am also just becoming a better shooter. Tom2 points

Yep. The prosecutors might as well have had rubber dicks glued to their foreheads all week. I doubt that they want to go thru that again. :)2 points

I think that's why they screen them. At any rate, if someone bent on sending Zimmerman to jail is sitting in the jury box and has been able to hide their sinister plot all along, I doubt that there would be more than one. That will result in a mistrial, or the judge losing her mind berating the jury until the hold out capitulates. A mistrial for Zimmerman might as well be a not guilty verdict. The state won't try him again.2 points

Not sure what even half of your post means. I work in Rutherford Co and all LE in the county have an extremely good relatationship with USMS (my favorite Fed agency to work with, actually). The reason I think you're full of sh*t is that USMS always notifies us, beforehand, when they're working in our jurisdictiction (it's not like they work police corruption and have to be all secret, secret). We have not had any situations like you described. The USMS doesn't want any Blue-on-Blue shootings, either...local bullets hurt just as much as Fed bullets. Are you really a cop??? Doubtful, and certainly not USMS. So then, I'm curious, how is it that you know what was said to SPD dispatch and you were at the scene with all that 1st hand knowledge? Like I said, F.O.S. Ya know, I just started this thread as a friendly "heads-up" for some jobs. Didn't really think the "tools" would come out on this one.2 points

Good points, It just that in 16 yrs in the military I have learned that what we see in the news and what is really happening are usually different things and the media will tell a story in the most sensational and emotional way possible whether its totally true or not. I just like to have as much info from all sides before deciding for myself what I think really happened. Another thing that my time has taught me is that the government is made up of people and as a group people are not to be trusted. Stay vigilant my tinfoil friends. Seriously, the people are what keeps the government honest or allows them to be evil.2 points

"The injuries are so minor that the word slam implies great force," Rao said in response to questioning by prosecutor John Guy. "There was not great force used here." Click here for full coverage of the George Zimmerman Trial Rao said Zimmerman's injuries were not only "not life threatening" but were also "very insignificant." She said the injuries to the back of Zimmerman's head were consistent with hitting the ground but the injuries on his face were from consistent with one punch or strike. Under questioning by defense attorney Mark O'Mara, Rao acknowledged she was appointed by state attorney Angela Corey, who is overseeing the prosecution of Zimmerman. She also conceded that while Zimmerman's injuries were consistent with one punch, it does not mean that he was not hit repeatedly. "Could it of been four times?" O'Mara asked Rao, who replied, "That's not my opinion but it is possible." If your going to quote the article use all of it, not just the part that fits your agenda. There has been quite enough of that BS from the news media with this case. :2cents:2 points

Oh Shoot, in the world of 1022 bolts "blueprinting" isn't quite the same as what is shown on the link. Head space is tightened up, front of the bolt is squared up, firing pin is pinned so that it does not wander up and down like in stock 1022 bolts and the rear of the bolt is radiused for ease of hammer cocking when using subsonic ammo. Anyone with the right tools can do it but there are only 3 or 4 guys in the country who do it well as a commerical enterprise.1 point

I use a Super Redhawk in .44 Mag with open sights. You young guys might be able to use a pistol scope, but I sure can't. Last season, killed a deer at 80 yards. Flipped it completely over end to end. Plenty of power. When deer hunting, I don't even carry a long gun any more. B.1 point

Maybe I'm just noticing more or maybe it's getting reported more but there seems to be an increase in the past few years of police/LEO shooting dogs at things like traffic stops, serving warrants, etc. Sometimes this is clearly understandable but many times they are shooting dogs that couldn't possibly present a risk to anyone (other than irritating their eardrums)...that just isn't right.1 point

A panic attack can cause chest pains. Is it so strange to think that someone who was just involved in a lethal force incident just might be having a panic attack? The hospital could verify that the person in question is not having a heart attack but could not say whether or not they had chest pains as the result of a panic attack. But, hey, I'm probably misusing the word 'panic', right?1 point

Morally I don't support gay marriage as I don't see eye to eye with some things they try to force feed us but as a constitutionalist one has the right to choose whom they marry, even if I don't agree with it. Being as the 4th is right around the corner we should keep in mind that freedom isn't limited to what the government says it is as we aren't born to follow the law, laws are meant to protect us, not deny us the freedoms which being a human grants. Freedom, like Justice, has no biases nor does it see us for what we are but rather whom we choose to be.1 point

I have a relative that worked for GM for 37 years. He was/is a die hard union guy. We were talking about actual costs to manufacture cars. When we talked the average Suburban was right around $40K at the dealer. He said actual cost in parts and labor was under $6K. He said the higher selling costs were needed to keep the union benefits up. Unions are good if they are used to ensure workers are not abused but in most cases the unions are used to inflate salaries and benefits far beyond what they should be. The workers salaries, even though they are pretty high, are not what adds cost to vehicles. It is the benefits and bonuses that are paid to every single worker. The union pays it members substantial bonuses which GM and us, the consumer, ultimately pays for. I was reading some of their union material and they guarantee each union worker a $5,000 if they vote to agree to the new contract for 2012-2015. There are all kinds of bonuses and benefits each union member gets. For 2012 each member was estimated to $12,500 in bonuses on top of their inflated salaries. And with profitsharing for each billion in profits reported by GM each union worker is to receive $1,000. Doesn't sound like a lot except in 2012 GM had a profit of $4.9B so each union member is getting another bonus of $4,900. So for 2012 each union member is receiving $20,000 in bonuses alone. There are also tons of other benefits that we pay for as well. They are given up to $30,000 for relocation expenses if they CHOOSE to work at another plant. On top of regular unemployment benefits the union pays the worker up to $962 a week in additional money for up to 52 weeks. And the benefits do not stop there. Refusing to buy a GM vehicle isn't going to make a difference because the government, and our taxes, subsidize GM and the union's high cost. This is why companies are going overseas. And when they go overseas it gives those foreign countries the designs and innovation we have worked so hard to develop. They get the designs after all our hard work have been done and we are giving it to them. Then they use our own designs to compete with us but the labor costs are much less because of the lack of unions. This is what is going to kill our economy as more and more workers become unionized. I see or read about it all the time where it seems like every area of manufacturing is becoming unionized. And it is the AFL-CIO that is doing most of it. AFL-CIO which is the same union that runs the GM unions. Imagine how much our cell phones, or service, are going to cost in a few years now that the communication industry workers have become unionized.1 point

I just think it is quick to assume he did something negligent without further information. I have a friend who was a working dog handler that ended up shooting his own dog while on mission. Lotta folks talk smack about it who weren't there and didn't digest the circumstances to understand that it wasn't the move of a half-wit handler, it was a split second decision that had to be made and unfortunately it turned out bad. Nonetheless, it didnt stop folks who weren't there from running their suck about it; meanwhile this guy is having one of the worst days of his life.1 point

Unfortunately, history has proven that you can't trust Governments. That goes for our Government too. It may be that the people in charge NOW are trustworthy, but who is to say that the ones following them will not mis-use about this tool, the intelligence community finds so invaluable? Better to do away with this program now and others like it, than to pass this on down to future generations to have to deal with.1 point

Occasionally, my tap water in north west Nashville smells like Chlorine. When we wintered in Florida at one camp ground, the water was literally brown. I don't drink tap water... haven't in over 20 years. We double filter it. First, it goes through a Clear2O pitcher to get the big particles out. Then, it goes through a ZeroWater filter to get everything else out. The Zero filter will do it all, but it clogs up in a couple of weeks if you don't get the big particulates out first. The folks complaining about water should get a field test kit and just use their smartphone to video the testing process. Then, they would have proof of their complaints. I have a simple device that counts ppm (parts per million) of particulates. It came with the ZeroWater filter. Today, water quality is exceptionally good at only 114 ppm. After running through the two filters, it's 1 ppm.1 point

So does anyone else see the point that this clown was trying to make? Granted, he made it as awkwardly as humanly possible and all people heard was the word "terrorism" but it seems that what he was trying to say is that if you incite panic by spreading false claims of danger with the public water supply, you are in essence terrorizing the public. And he'd be right. But the hubub it caused sure does make good press.1 point
