1. Found this by surfing the interwebs today ... Apparently TGODavid has been looking for a way to finance his retirement (and ammo purchases) since he charges us next to nothing (or actually nothing unless your a benefactor) to use this awesome forum/community he has set up. Well, I found out what he's been up to recently ... setting up a TGO Outlet store. I was curious about it, so I walked in to see what exactly is going on, and let me say, very interesting. His best idea is taking some of the funniest, most smarta$$ things we say on the forum, and screen printing them on t-shirts, coffee cups, mouse pads, Talon Glock gun grips, etc. As expected, he also has some TGO branded merchandise as well, including the TGO branded tacticool lighter (with laser scope); and rather unexpectedly, a slightly European style of men's swimwear. In the back room he also has a tattoo parlor set up. I'm not sure who this is, but apparently he's a regular on the forum that served as the first "model" for the tattoo artist ... Anyways ... He said he's going to make an announcement on the forum about it soon about opening dat, but I just couldn't wait! I did ask, and he said their most likely was NOT going to be a special discount for TGO members ... but if you brought him some nice whiskey he might give you a sticker.

 3. Let's be clear: This isn't about the right to carry arms, it's about you essentially wanting permission to carry them openly to enlighten people. This has nothing to do with a person's legal permission to carry a firearm openly as granted by the state of Tennessee so long as they have a Handgun Carry Permit. You can buy that permission from TDOS already. There's no need for me to fight for you to obtain the permission to do something you can already do. As has been stated, Tennessee does not recognize the Second Amendment as the only legal authority you need to carry a firearm on your person in this state. If you want to fight something, fight that. That being said, my handgun isn't a political podium. I don't carry it to make a political statement or to enlighten anyone. I carry it for my self defense, and I carry it in the means that provides me the most strategic advantage. If you want to carry yours openly and scare the sheep, just keep in mind that you run the risk of scaring them straight to the closest sign-maker to whip up another "SHALL NOT CARRY" posted location, or to the nearest politician who will promise them to make it all go away if they vote for them. Or you'll end up like this assclown: Whether you want to believe it, or like it, openly carrying does inspire a reaction and it may not always be the one you want. You will pass by dozens of people each day who may not say a word, but you've inspired a reaction with them and it likely won't be a positive one. You have no control over what someone else may think or do as a result of your choice to strap one on and walk around with it visible. And their reaction may not come in the form of a question or even a terse word to you on the spot. It may come later in the form of a ballot being cast against visibly displayed firearms for HCP owners (it's illegal to let your concealed weapon be seen in some states) or in the form of yet another retail store or restaurant being posted as anti-gun. I support your right to make dumb decisions. I just don't support your exercising that right when it harms my ability to exercise the same one a little more discretely.

 7.   Keep in mind that the ability to make moonshine would likely be an invaluable skill in a SHTF scenario.  Such spirits would have a myriad of uses.  Probably more uses than a .22, anyhow.   I have never made shine, myself, but my late father made and ran (yes, illegal) shine in his younger days.  I had him describe the process of making shine to me, in detail, just because I was curious about 'how' one would do it.  I think making good shine would take more knowledge, skill and sense than you might imagine.   Having had 'good' shine - (from, um, independent distillers my dad knew of when I was younger) I can say that the homemade stuff can be a damn sight better than the mass produced 'moonshine' that is now on the market (although, being honest, some of that isn't bad.)   And to think, I'm the one that was trying to be civil to you.

 8. Starship Troopers is an outstanding movie!  It's one of those cinematic masterpieces that causes the channel surfing to stop.  The goofy, over-the-top bravado and cheesy lines make it a classic.    Plus Denise Richards is was hot.

 10. I'm not a boorish old codger. Im actually a young, handsome, 25 yr old suave SOB  . And I dont expect anyone to hang on to my everyword. But coming to an internet forum, asking a ridcuilous question with parameters geared towards feeling better about your choices, then cramming your fingers in your ears and humming when people with experience try to give you better options is dumb. You wanna see my honest opinion. You're an idiot troll whos only reason for being here is to stir shit up. You have already said your only firearm right now is a .22 lr target pistol, and theres nothing wrong with that. But you have the attitude that when your only tool is a hammer, every problem is a nail. Sadly one firearm doesnt fit every situation. So you can continue to ignore sound advice, or you can pull your head from your ass, look and listen, and maybe learn a thing or two. Now you can call me defensive, hotheaded, irate, and hypersensitive. In the end, I really dont give a rats ass if you carry a .22 lr as your main survival gun and end up as a bleached out pile of bones because you lacked the ballstics capability of killing that deer or defending yourself. But if your gonna ask, you can damn well expect an answer, at least from me. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

 11. You have just been a ray of sunshine since joining. I don't know your past involvement with law enforcement and really don't care. A weapon doesn't make a man so disarming cops isnt the answer. You do have the option of trying to get hired and change things to improve what you think is a poor image of your law enforcement.

 12. I don't mind sharing what I've learned & I have pretty thick skin so no worries, he (and anyone else) is welcome to come down & go hunting or fishing with me, so long as they have the proper license & don't act like a tard/jerkoff or drink/do drugs, we'd probably all have a good time, maybe learn something in the process. I learn new stuff all the time, the trick is to always keep an open mindset to new ideas/ways of doing stuff. Spot's is the man though, I'm just in awe of that dude & his dad, the stuff I could learn from those two would definately be invaluable.

 13. Depends. Do you like to sharpen, or do you just want sharp knives? If you dont care how they get sharp, but a 1 x 30 belt grinder from harbor freight. 120, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800 grit belte and a leather strop belt. I can make a butter knife shave in less than 5 minutes. Just take it easy and keep the blade cool to the touch using water Tapatalk ate my spelling.

 15. Compound bows, right? Nothing against crossbows, I just prefer compounds. I am not sure if CK Outfitters is up and running, but I have bought a couple accessories there and enjoyed the service. They treated customers well while I was there. The Sportsman in Dickson seems to be a good place. It's important to find a place you like and spend some time talking with them and other shooters. I had lots of help when I was a new shooter from fellow shooters on the local bow range. Bass Pro is the last place I would go. Not saying all the folks there are bad, but I have heard some serious BS while shopping their archery section. Buy a good used bow from a local bow shop and practice a lot. All of them will kill deer. Focus on quite more than fast. Focus on comfortable more than anything.

 16.   They would work fine otherwise no one would have died 100 years ago when jacketed bullets were a rarity. Even coated they will expand fine. I might actually do some expansion tests using some pure lead in a 45.

 21. Don't neglect the fact that your Nagant revolver can - with the stock cylinder - already chamber and fire .32 S&W Long rounds. I know because I've seen me do it (with my Nagant revolver, that is.) I would suppose that would also mean you could chamber and fire .32 S&W (short) rounds. In fact, I have read in more than one place that Nagant revolvers are 'strong' enough to handle .32 H&R Magnum rounds - although I have never tried that and probably will not unless a true emergency (such as SHTF survival) arises and, by some strange set of circumstances, the only ammo I can find in .32 H&R Magnum. Anyhow, this means that - even without the .32acp cylinder - your Nagant revolver can fire at least three, different ammo types (7.62X38R, .32 S&W Long and .32 S&W.) If you are willing to risk .32 H&R Magnum, that would mean four ammo possibilities with the stock cylinder. Throw in the .32acp cylinder and you'd be looking at possibly being able to fire five, different ammo types with that one revolver. That would mean that, between the two primaries and the Nagant, you'd possibly have the option of using ten different ammo types!

 26. I, quite fortunately, purchased 500 lead .30-30 bullets for my Marlin 336 last year. I got some very accurate loads using Unique powder...not powerful, but very light shooting and accurate.   Not intending to make a thread drift...just considering the potential availability of lead bullets for Greg...   Dolomite: Can these cast lead bullets, if powder coated (excellent thread btw) be driven to deer hunting round velocities? I would make the assumption it's a Yes based on the powder coat thread.   If so, would something like that be of any help Greg? They are .309 diameter 165 gr. RNLFP   If so, I can get a hundred round to you (not coated...sorry). Just let me know.

 27. Well after a long research and input from others and a price tag of around $1700 i have decided not to buy the M4 as much as i would love to i can't spend that much for a shotgun, so the decision has been made to go with  FNH SLP MK1 Tactical - for $1199  - read so many great reviews oabout it and it functions preaty much the same as the M4 just $500 cheaper. Benelli M4 is still a great shotgun but just to expensive.   thank you all for your inputs.

 28. Nixon's tenure and downfall sorely damaged the power of the presidency. It really wasn't until W, under the direction of Cheney and the impetus of 9/11, that the power of the presidency became dominant again. Then we got BHO who's totally disabusing the power and we have a week legislative branch at this time...sooo. Look what we've got. Screwed.

 30. As I understand the history of the 1996(?) law that began to return our ability to carry a firearm on our person in public, the only reason the law doesn't mandate concealment was to avoid the problems (and possible criminal charges that can come) when your weapon is  accidentally exposed (i.e. you bend over to pick up something off the ground or the wind moves your shirt/cover garment and someone sees your weapon). But as if often the case, people take that allowance to extreme and want to carry openly all the time everywhere and berate anyone who question the wisdom of doing so; especially when the open carry is done with an attitude (how dare the stupid sheep get spooked and react badly).   If those who open carry do so for the purpose of "educating" the sheep and/or do so without taking into consideration "where" they are going to be, "when" they are going to be there and "who" is going to see them then they shouldn't be surprised if Tennessee reverts to the standard of most states which is to MANDATE concealed carry.

 33. On the face of it, sounds like a more than fair trade for you, at least to me. I think you've pretty much covered all the essential points on both sides here. But just to play devil's advocate; I personally would keep the Sig as I'm not a fan of the G26/27 subcompacts. No reason other than the size.   But if you want/need a duty backup; it doesn't seem like anything but a win to me. JMO.

 34. Spots,I think we hurt his feelings. He's pulled down his introduction post so no one will know he's from Wisconsin, doesn't like being down here, and is a expert with a nerf gun, air soft and BB gun. That being said I think your right on with your post. He's nothing more then a troll with an attitude. To bad, because a couple of members offered to take him to a range and show him around.

 35. Reading your post this sounds like a place I came across earlier this summer on the internet, Dansdepot.com. They sell everything from packs, knives, dehydrated food, shelters etc. You should check them out, they don't have a storefront, they are an online company, but it would be very similar to what you are proposing.

 37. You might try taking up casting. For the cost of 500 bullets you can have everything you need to never have to rely on another for bullets. Lee molds are under $30, a pot is under $60 and a bottle of lube is under $6. And that is buying all new equipment designed for bullet casting. You can also use a hot plate, old pot and a dipper to pour bullets for a lot less. It may not be as fast as a bottom pour pot but it is still fast enough to be worth while. And if you shop around for those items I bet you can get everything you need for under $50. Heck, you could even use a gas grill to cast and I have seen some who do it over a wood or charcoal fire.   Then ask a few local tire shops for some lead. And it isn't as slow as some people think. I can easily cast 300+ an hour once I get into the groove. Cast bullets perform as well as almost any jacketed bullet too.   When I first bought my casting equipment is was not about saving money. As a matter of fact all my equipment sat for a very long time before being used. I bought it for a time, that I thought was far off, when I couldn't buy my own but decided to give it a try before that happened. Well it turns out that time is now for most.

 40. Welp I won't be "surviving" by hunting, I will of course continue to hunt, but only to suppliment my families caloric intake, same with trapping, I am both a (former) farmer & a commercial fisherman so the Hatchie & Mississippi rivers is where my families main source of protien (and trade) will come from, but I fully intend to grow most of our food if S does ever HTF. I'm fairly certain my family will never go hungry enough to ever starve to death, but then again nothing is ever totally guaranteed either, which is why I've planned a multi-pronged approach. I just wish I could grow potatos, every year I have problems with them, even the little plot this years produced bumpkis! Never could get potatos to grow worth a darn in Indiana either. Say if one or both rivers ever experienced a massive fish kill or became contaminated, or if we experienced a sever cold snap for a few seasons (mini ice-age) at least I have more than one avenue of feeding my kin.
